That stuff is just to start out with you can get rid of them once they are worse off. Either keep leveling up if your problem is with missions or use matchmaking. You really don't become a solo machine until 256.

I rarely see mobile cover and smart cover and even then it's only in heroic incursions. Seeker mine isn't that great until you upgrade it to fire or split. I guess you're referring to support station when you say medkit. It really shines when you have it modded to auto res and remember you can double tap the button to just quickly drop it at your feet for when you're about to go down in solo play.

Ballistic Shield is honestly a pretty bad idea against Cleaners since they usually like to get all up in your shit with flamethrowers. I'd recommend using a support station with Immune or Auto Revive, using a well placed Turret (machine gun or fire are both good; taser is only good in PvP), and taking them on from afar with either a DMR for range or Machine Gun for out-of-cover bonus.

Nothing wrong with shield against cleaners. Shield blocks normal flamethrowers. Only flamethrower that gets through is from the fatasses which is where you just pick off their tanks from a distance with your other gun.

Same actually. Without the timer, I'd play it a lot more. And I know it's ridiculous since you can easily finish it within a quarter of the time or less. Timers in general are just really stressful.

I like the whole storm aspect of it. Wish we could get that going as a setting or something for our own normal game during solo play.

A few friends picked this up and i'm slightly interested in it but my gripe with it is the combat.

How bullet spongy/repetitive does the combat get in endgame? As far as i can tell its just a case of go into cover -> shoot bullet sponge -> repeat

The storm aspect is gr8

The stupidest thing about survival is how it takes place in one of the neighborhood you've already explored pre storm. Which to me makes no sense on why you have to go from a neighborhood the character should already know, to the DZ for extraction. When the char could go to one of the safehouses or walk back to base after getting cold weather gear.

It would have made significantly more sense if the heli crashed across the river or in a different borough that is unexplored altogether.

Another great concept ruined by Ubisoft.

Also, does no one do the challenge missions for the daily anymore? I spent an hour looking for a group and got no joiners.

The reason you have to extract from the DZ is because the potential Green Poison vaccine is there and all the checkpoints in/out are closed from the storm (abandoned?). It's why you needed to climb the wall to get in, so it's not that farfetched to think you'd need a helicopter to get out.

They have this gigantic fucking map, and they're using the same shit since release but with a different spin on it. I like the ideas they're going for. But holy shit could they put some more effort into it.

When I got back into this game and loaded survival up for the first time. I was expecting the helicopter to crash in a brand new area and the player would have to battle against elements, NPCs and other players to get to an extraction zone. Not, hey here's the same area you've been through a billion times. Go make some gear, kill a few enemies and then extract and get tons of loot for almost 0 effort.

I've gotten ~10 on my own, with four of those being in a full squad; I intentionally wait for them to be in some sort of animation that gives me time to make two shots. Calling an extract, cutting a rope, trying to revive a downed team mate, stuff like that. Also worth noting that a lot of people don't know how to move if I shoot them when they're in cover and that usually seals their fate; if they're mobile they just lolrollspam but that tactic doesn't work once they've hunkered down. Long story short, I make sure I'm in an advantageous position/situation before I start shooting with the sniper rifle.

I personally enjoy because the setting is interesting, the gameplay is fairly solid, the premise is interesting, and the Dark Zone is a genuinely intriguing way to have both PvE and PvP in the same area. That said, it definitely had a rocky start, but after a significant amount of balancing overhauls and DLC I honestly think the game has found its niche.

Whether or not it's too late is a different conversation.

You're probably overthinking it; honestly just matchmake for a group and play conservatively and you should be A-OK.

Do all the side-missions, they get you resources to help master your abilities really quickly

Each class of weapons has a unique benefit to them, so they each have a role

-Assault Rifles do bonus damage to armor on heavier enemies

-Machine guns do more damage to enemies not in cover

-Submachine guns do bonus "crit" damage

-Marksman rifles do extra headshot damage

-Shotguns "stagger" enemies far better than other guns

-Pistols have infinite ammo and do bonus damage to low-health enemies

Find what you're good at in games and get gear heavily based on that. Creating a build actually has a shit ton of flexibility, especially in the end game. Like using technology to your advantage? Buff the Skills stat. Like being tanky on the front lines? Buff the Stamina stat. Like being a sniper? Buff firearms.

before this, before all this all World 5 crap all my DZ drop zones were 1st come 1st serve, people always give it to the one who engage 1st or inviting to party and try to take out the named enemies

now there are actually people waiting you to aggro and try to steal the crate while you try to kill the heavies and everyone you find is most likely to kill you rather than teaming up

If it doesn't happen anywhere else in the game, it's the game that fucked up once. If more keep popping up, it's more likely to be your card dying, since you're not overclocking it.

Depending on the build, sniper rifles can even be a solid primary. Some gear sets actually benefit from it (Sentry's Call, Hunter's Faith, DeadEye). That said, it all boils down to your playstyle. Do you like being the first into the fray, or prefer staying back and lining up your shots? If you're always balls-deep in enemy territory with a ballistic shield it wouldn't exactly make sense.

Whats the point in any other content when survival gives you 256 gear for almost no fucking work.

I left with 11 sealed containers and 5 of them gave me 256 GS gear.
