There is one mod that comes up if you google for a fix, but the problem with having it on -your pawn specifically- is that people who hire them almost certainly won't have anything that fixes it. Basically just add inflection to your "ignore this pawn" mental checklist alongside the queen dress, nexus, etc.

I beat the game for the first time not long ago.

Had a blast but I'm not a fan of how you can just pause the game and take as many cureatives as you like, when ever you like. I thhink they should have make it like Monster Hunter or darks where you can only use one healing item at a time and taking it has a short animation that leaves you vunerable. That and the warrior should be able to have six active skills like every other class.

By all means have a look at the mod yourself, I just skimmed it to check ti actually existed. If you were playing Sorc then it could be worthwhile using, it just never will be on a pawn because you can't count on everyone that hires you having that same fix installed.

I tried doing the quest for the guy wanting to get through the gate at the quarry. Killed the bandits and goblins easily and just ran past the ogres.

After I informed the guy it was open he told me that he wanted me to kill all the ogres.

Am I too low level to beat them right now? I'm level 20 but my attacks weren't hurting them at all which is why I ran past them. Is there something I'm missing?

Also what is the ambush quest about? Random Chimera spawned. First time I managed to cut off the tail but that took a while and I was barely hurting the main body and eventually got killed. Second time I just ran away.

Am I doing it right? Seems weird to be running away from things all the time but maybe that's what I'm supposed to do.

"Ambush!" quests just pop up to tell you that you've engaged a large group of shitter-mobs or a large creature in the wild. Generally if you've been hacking away at the weak point of something for a while and still don't seem to be doing appreciable damage it's best to first check your gear and skills (and those of your pawn) to see if anything is amiss/can be improved that might help and if not just come back and try again after you feel your damage capabilities have gotten better.

Depends where you are, mostly the people around will just run away from you, and IIRC anyone killed comes back in 7 days time. If you're in Gran Soren and let the guards get reasonably near you then your ass gets to spend some time in the fungeon.

Yes, though the EXP curve difference supposedly makes rented pawns higher level in your game, but doesn't affect the other person's game. I haven't seen this personally though.

I prefer using the plateau version for overgearing at early levels to attract more rents, however as an assassin I suffered for a long time from OHKOs; hardmode was not worth it.

If someone rents your level 45 pawn they MIGHT level up to 46 when they get out of the rift. That's about the extent of it - doesn't really matter.

All that happens is your pawn will bump up a few levels upon hire if you upload your pawn late in a level.

Like if your pawn is sitting at 200K xp at level 32 and gets hired by a player not using the mod, then your pawn will jump a few levels higher than what they were recruited at. So the worst thing that happens, is they get a higher level pawn at a discount.

Personally, I just try to upload only after leveling in order to avoid that. But it's no big deal if it does.

I started out using Plateau, and switched to Steep recently. Plateau was a bit too slow afterall and was starting to be a problem as active pawns I liked to hire were beginning to way outlevel me. Where I'm at in the mid 50s the Steep setting only requires half the xp as Plateau, though according to the chart later on it'll actually require more... but that's in the later 100s so I'm not sure I'll care.

As far as the levelling bug, I did have people report experiencing it with my pawn and this is what happened. He was something like L31, and others hired him as such, but after leaving the Nexus and looking at the inventory screen my pawn was instead like L33. But he was still L31 on my end and I never saw any effect of this.

The reason this happens, is every level starts the xp counter at zero. So if my pawn is only L31 but has 200K xp sitting on him, the game notices and since the other player is not using the xp mod my pawn now exceeds the needed experience for the next level plus the one after that so the game adjusts his level accordingly.

Did you find Steep more up your speed? Did you need to grind to get to a point where you're satisfied with your progression? Or was it comfortable enough that you didn't grind and didn't suffer from being overleveled like in the vanilla game?

Honestly, I only had three issues with Plateau.

One was minor in that I like to min/max up to 100, so it started feeling a bit grindy in that sense. And the other two, more major, was that the slower xp meant longer game sessions before hitting an inn (since I try to avoid the level bug, despite it being minor) and pawns I like to hire were getting way ahead of me in level.

I haven't played enough of Steep yet to make a judgment, but the play sessions are a bit more reasonable at the least.

Plateau, disregarding the online interaction (resting and hiring), actually felt really comfortable to play. And doing BBI with top-end gear but lower level makes for a fun challenge since your health pool is so low. Plus I had to get clever with weapons since the L1/2/3 weapons have stamina drain until L32 L46 and L51 (I think those were the levels). Turns out many DLC weapons are hidden gems, Caged Fury on my Sorc let him punch well above his weight for example.

Honestly, I have half a mind to get over min/maxing to 100 and just pop back onto Plateau while learning to deal with the online problems.

Ranger pawns do a'ight, and generally seem to use whatever arrows you give them appropriately. Skill use is like any other pawn and depends on it's inclinations.

For Striders, they have more AoE bow abilities and stronger melee so those are two reasons to take a Strider.

Base stats actually count for more than the weapon's stats. The details are in the advanced faq, but off the top of my head I think base STR/MAG counts for double just for basic attacks. Skills sometimes have their own formulas which may weigh base stats higher, like if I recall right the MK's GMC counts only base Magick.

I was hoping modding would eventually allow adjustment and replacement of spawns/loot so that post-game could get a BBI-tier facelift. But the best I've heard of is a bloated and buggy 'triple spawn' mod.

Also, there seems to be a million and a half Sorc pawns out there. Many fewer Mages, but people are 50/50 on whether they are worth bringing. So if getting rents is an issue you may want to consider Ranger, though advertising and listing your pawn matters more than vocation.

Does playing different saves with different Arisen/Pawns by just backing up unused saves bug the multiplayer aspect in any way?

If you swap too frequently it can result in a 'rock ban' where any hires you return with items get rocks instead for a couple days, because the game thinks you're trying to dupe items.

Personally I like having fighter pawns - I just got sick of trying to use other ones and getting angry at them.

Fighters are good. They run into battle, use their skills, carve up enemies. You never end up frustrated because they're using their daggers/climbing/not shooting metal golems weak spots/not shooting harpies etc (ranger/strider), cancelling their cast because a bug farted near them/cancelling because you moved 5 metres away from them (sorc).

Warriors are awesome too but can't use the charge skills properly. Honestly MK/Fighter arisen/pawn was my most fun playthrough yet. Having access to HFB when you need it is a godsend too.

You're missing out on augments, like the Warrior's Clout which gives 20% more STR.

But seeing as you can equip any augment on any vocation, naw you aren't missing out once you buy the augments.

Make sure their inclinations are appropriate then hand 'em the staff.

There is a hidden inclination called "skill use" based on how often you empty your stamina. So if you want, you could 'train' your pawn by not running out of stamina which may encourage it to use focused bolt more often.

MK shield skills are actually 'Magick Shield' skills and are counted as a different weapon. MK shield skills are more about buffing than anything else, and they do not get any of the Fighter shield skills on account of being a different class of weapon. So no, MKs are not quite "Fighters with Magic".

Fighters are a damned fine vocation of their own, don't be put off by them being 'basic'. As long as you cherry pick augments from other vocations, you can just play Fighter to your heart's content.

I haven't played the game on PC yet but I bought it on pc when it released.

I know they took out the berzerk armor, but is there any way to mod it back in yet?

I hope capcom brings DDO over here next year but sadly I'm worried if they do they will pull off that early access/backer bullshit.

Eh, not really.

If I recall correctly, the actual item had its ID stripped of both data and graphics. And even if one puts the item data back in, the graphics would have to be sourced from console which lacks the graphical update in texture.

That said, I know there are some Bezerk armor mods out there which are more like community made armor mods than a restoration of the console armors. I haven't tried any of them out though.

Just FYI, if you're going to go the Rusted Staff route make sure to get that thing Dragon Forged and eventually Gold Forged since that ups the Torpor chance... and may as well ditch the Acuity for something else since you're not going to be doing much damage with a Rusted Staff.

Otherwise pretty solid, did a good job as Mage and I still saw Torpor applied at a decent rate.

Loosely, at best. Was chatting with another Anon about it the other day.

Best I can figure is a combination of Inclinations and that "Skill Use" setting. Figure maybe if Wolfgang had no shield skills and a lower "skill use" setting he may sit and block more often.

Not sure how much messing with his skill use would be worth the trouble though, even assuming that'd work then he'd be cutting back on other skill use too like running up and Mawing the fuck out of fools.

The only action I'd suggest is dropping Drum, far as I've heard and witnessed those 'taunt' skills do somewhere between roughly and literally nothing.

Does the game get more fun later? I always had fun fighting bosses but the variety seemed kind of limited.

New player here. I just recently arrived in Gran Sotren and was doing the quest a Troublesome Tome, without having looked at a guide.

I followed a marker on the map, defeated a cyclops along the way, and wound up at a fort with a bunch of female bandits. Then their leader, who was marked with a quest marker, attacked me as soon as I came into sight, so I had to kill her and her entire company.

That felt wrong, so I checked the wiki and learned about the whole man-hating thing, and also that these female bandits are relevant for another set of quests. Am I screwed? Should I reload?

If you have some RC go to the special vendor by the Encampment riftstone and purchase some Scather/Challenger/Mitigator elixirs. Never made a Strider/Ranger pawn so I'm not sure which exactly you'd want, but drinking one of each will fix your problem one way or another.

So yesterday I was fiddling around with the "skill use" inclination on my fighter pawn.

Supposedly it's supposed to affect how often pawns use their skills instead of their basic attacks/core skills. After a pawn runs out of stamina, it goes down by 1.5; if the arisen runs out of stamina, it goes up by 2.5. Also, a pawn bugs out if you change the skill use inclination while they're in battle, for example they'll stand completely still and/or spam that they're low of stamina.

Anyway, as far as I noticed, a low skill use is better on my fighter pawn, but I can't say that there was much of a change in how often he used his skills.

It might have been placebo, but he would be more aggressive and consistent in combat. He still ran out of stamina in combat, possibly because he would climb enemies just the same though he definitely did run out of stamina less frequently than if skill use was high. It's possible that he would use more core skills but I didn't keep track of that desu. I'll try some more today.

What I did was rest outside in the devilfire camp for a day and return to BBI 2.0 to test out how he did in the first floor and duskmoon against a drake/wyvern.

I also tried editing my sorc pawn with it. Can't say I really noticed anything.

My Sorc has a highish skill use sitting around 700, and most of the time it seems like he tries to hang back and drop bombs. Lassitude doesn't get much love from him, despite having Utilitarian primary. Focused Bolt doesn't get used as much either, though the other sucky one does get used a bit.

Dunno what that says, if anything, since I haven't tried messing with skill use.

Just bought the game and took your advice to do side quests first.

Have to say, the escort quest from Grand Soren was a blast, having to get past reptiles, a cyclops, a bunch of bandits, a chimera and harpies.

Hope these keep up, it gave a lot of exp, even if I struggled a couple times.

Ok, fiddled around with skill use a little more. This time I let my main pawn do all the work with no assistance from me or any other pawn.

My pawn's skillset the whole time: Hindsight Strike/Dragon's Maw/Antler Toss

Comparisons between greater goblins/shamans in BBI: With skill use at 1000, he would spam the hell out of hindsight strike and use very little of his core skills. There was also a time where he randomly left combat to break a box, might've been a fluke.

With skill use at 0, he definitely varied up which skills he used, as well as mix in core skills. Ironically, I saw him using dragon's maw more at 0.

I definitely prefer him with a lower skill use inclination. If anyone else could test with a main pawn that's a blue or yellow that'd be great. For people struggling to get a ranger to spam tenfold; maybe try giving them only tenfold and instant reset with a high skill use inclination.

What are rules for Bitterblack respawn?
Sometimes monsters got back in like 10 minutes.

In order to properly answer this you have to consider whether stat growth counts. If you do count stat growth then assassin might have an edge since it has the highest attack growth in the game. If you're talking about minmaxing to 200 and then switching classes, I would say ranger if consumables like blast arrows are allowed, otherwise strider.

Don't bother with it at all, I forgot it existed desu. I think I used it once in my 200 hours playing, to make the arisens bond after I sealed myself out of it on one playthrough.

The best things in this game are simply found or looted. The only things you need to craft are specific items for quests. Save your resources for upgrading weapons and armor.
