She's much better now. A good Symmetra can help hold a point really well and even be a potent offensive force. She's much better suited for Defense than Attack, though.

Why not both?

Sym is great if you want to play more aggressively at the cost of not being a le to heal. Ana is less aggressive, but she can still put out decent hurt while retaining healing ability. Rarely will you have to decide between the two in any given game as they fulfill very different roles. Just need to decide if you want to help by healing or by offering more utility.

McRee and Widow without aim are literal team burdens.

Tracer/Mei require more than aim to play usefully and shooting with mercy although a lot of fun is infrequent and probably less good for the team than healing.

In terms of player distribution, diamond is what mid/high-plat was last season. With that being said, here are a list of things Plat people do horribly and can usually improve at:
-talk on the comms, say hi at the start of the game and encourage any premade stacks to join in. Some will, some wont, just roll with it.

-let people know where your ult is at and ask what theirs are at so that you know what resources you have for attacking

-do not overcommit to attacks and trickle in, encourage your team to pull back and organize a push, not wasting ANY ults solo

-try to not overcommit resources when you are defending, try to be as efficient with ultimates as you can because otherwise you will get rolled on the enemy's next push when they have ults and you just wasted every single one of yours

-encourage your team to stay calm and not tilt even if someone has made a shit pick, they will not swap and everyone will just get angrier and play worse

-learn about positioning and sightlines, make sure you keep an eye on the position of your teammates and ask them to reposition if they are too far ahead/doing dumb flanks. Be always nice about it.

-if you criticize someone make sure you have a specific thing you want to ask them to do a little bit better and be calm about it. Make sure to compliment them if they actually do it right next time.

-watch some coaching videos about all sorts of characters, even ones you don't play, so that you are more aware of what tactics and positions you should explore

Off the top of my head. I am sure there is way more, but if you improve on those fronts, you will be able to climb higher without actually improving your mechanical skill or aim.

I've solo'd plenty of dps heroes by being a better aim it does pretty good dps at 100/s. Sometimes it feels like they don't even expect you to fight back or the pistol to do real damage.

They always seem to be on the loop on when someone really needs the heals so they both heal it as quickly as possible to keep spreading the heals

I ranked up from 2300 to 3100 by using damage dealers while pairing up with some average tanks and a duo of really good healers. The other damage dealer was doing his thing with tracer or soldier
