The Mi-8 and Huey are really enjoyable to fly they have some nice ass flight models. You'll be limited of what you can do with them though. I've never flown the Mi-8 without pedals but I have the huey. You can fly it just fine without pedals especially with rudder trim.

The thread flourished with the release of DCS 1.5 and we really had something wonderful but sims are slow as shit when it comes to new content so the original hype died off. Make a steam group to round up the people who still play shit together and leave it at that for now, and remake the thread again when something new happens in the simulation community and hypes it up again, like the old /fsg/ days.

I've seen some stuff with su-27 pilots playing with supermaneuverability and it looks pretty fun to try
I guess it works in dcs, if it works in real-life right?

And in general, how does su-27 perform against f-15? What are cons and pros? I heard f-15 is considered best in pvp, so that's one reason I don't want to get it. I want something fun, and challenging

Not really. The way an MP match with FC3 planes usually goes is this:

F-15s get within their standoff range, launch all their AIM 120s, watch Mig and Sukhoi parts fall from the sky, and RTB. If you want to level the playing field you need to get close and merge, and hope they try to turn with you, but even then it takes a while to get a firing solution with missiles, it's not like gunfighting, and there's no saying the F-15 guys won't just throw on afterburners and disengage.

The flip side of that, of course, is when F-15 players get unlucky and get dunked on, they start screaming about "Russian bias"

The solution to this imbalance is, of course, playing with Mig 21s and F-5s, which are much more evenly matched, or doing ground attack missions in the A-10, Gazelle, Huey, Hip, Black Shark and what have you, but you end up playing with the HARDCOER SIMMAH crowd if you do

So, ultimately, it's either play MP with the borderline-autistic "clickable cockpit, fully modeled systems, 3rd Gen" crew, or dealing with the SPAMRAAMs and Air Quake servers of FC3.

I stick to helicopters when I'm playing DCS, it's less stressful that way
