Then again its real easy to go solid one color, getting the right looks and dimersions when you want to go just the right orange with tiger stripes or straight up cheetah or leopard is hard because the game settings dont give you just the right yellow for the fur, its always either pure white, or any color comes out looking burnt or dirty

I have a feeling that I don't learn anything from playing. I used to, some months ago, but I can't seem to now. I repeat my mistakes - guilty of constant heroing and overextending - and just mindlessly go back there to try again. I know about most things but can't apply them. There's a quest in shadowfen for EP where you help argonians protect their eggs from dominion soldiers trying to kill them before they hatch, and nightblades seem like the 'shadowscale' class too, so maybe you could say there's common ground.

Also worth noting the argonians in grahtwood are well received by the local bosmer. Seems like those two races have the most ideological crossover.

I haven't played this game since shortly after it went Buy to Play

I just reinstalled and hopped back in - What should I know? I'm a sorcerer who has most of their points put into healing, and would probably primarily focus on that later down the line.

If you're on EU I can dump you some emeralds, you'll want to make several sets as the bonuses will lower as you level higher like lvl 16 armour at 16 will give you 500 magicka set bonus but that same 16 armour at character lvl 40 will give you 70 mag. Pre-OT was better for that you could just fuck off to orsinium with lvl 3 purple training and would bump all the stats to 160cp values.

I've never used the non-heal twilight, maybe it's ok. I guess with daedric prey it might do OK damage, but that means no velocious curse.

I use hardened ward a lot, so my pets survive through many things, plus the self-heal is useful.

You know what would be nice? Subclasses. Imagine the Templar having two subclasses, a Paladin and a Priest. Paladin would allow you to use heavy armor like light armor where it would benefit from a magicka build and allow the use of one-handed plus shield to benefit from magicka as well. Where as Priest would boost your magicka and have maybe new healing abilities.

NB could have Ranger and Assassin
Ranger would focus heavily on bow and buff it significantly. Assassin could enhance the stealth abilities and bring more utility.

Sorcerer could have Wizard with new destruction based spells that aren't just shock based, and Cleric would be something similar to Paladin for a mage.

DK Idk really know what to do with DK. At least one would be a pure knight.

See the OP and grab some UI addons you like. I recommend FTC ("Foundry Tactical Combat"), and the add-ons that stick Skyshards and Mages Guild books on the map, all very helpful.

Aside from that I'd suggest looking up your class skills and such on the wiki (last link under "online lore, map and general info") and learning what you can morph the various skills into once you gain enough XP in them. Figure out if you want to be a light armor DPS (and/or healer) with staves, a medium armor DPS (dual wield, bows, and you can use a 2H for leveling of PVP), or tank (basically the only person using heavy armor and sword and board outside of PvP), and whether you want to be a stamina build (medium armor/physical weapons), or magicka (light armor + staves) and then dump all your attribute points into that respective stat.

Don't put points in health or the stat not used by your build. The rate of stat points per health points is terrible and if, for example, a stamina class is casting a magicka ability it's typically a buff they only have to cast once in a while rather than a vital damage skill (and your damage scales with the resource the skill uses - so skills not of your primary resource will deal terrible damage), so tldr; commit to a side. Hybrids don't really work here, only tanks can kinda-sorta do that because they have a shit ton of buffs they need to cast but also need a lot of stamina to block, shield bash and roll out of OHKOs.

Other than that, take your time, pay attention, explore the world. ESO has a very well crafted world with tons of little details, some of which are better than Bethesda by a mile.

Meanwhile Bethesda has probably never even entertained the notion of making a Orc skull, let alone Argonian/Khajiiti skeletons.

You might want to consider this only for alts. On my first run I picked these up as I noticed them, then looked at the achievement markers for the shards in the area I quested through and tried to decipher from the text where I missed some.

That's also the reason it seemed more attractive to upgrade the mount storage space instead of speed, I wasn't speeding through the area but exploring methodically.

Honestly I wouldn't say it does much at all. It builds on much of the established lore and it's pretty much all Bethsoft approved because ZOS has explained their quest writing process and part of it is sending it off to Beth to see if it checks out and then getting it back.

One of the things I really liked was the Argonian stuff and how it really seems to build off the stuff in The Infernal City book, how Argonians are very much creatures of the moment, think the notion of viewing time as a linear (or that linearity and a chronological arrangement of events are important at all), etc.

THe only stuff I'd say that's a let down are the one Altmer zone being fairly boring in appearance and the Altmer being not all -that- stuck up - but I suppose as the Summerset Isle that deals with the rest of Tamriel the most that's justified - and some silly shit like Redguards being ~so~ goddamn respectful of the dead they'll run from zombies instead of putting them down. Mag and stam is roughly equal, iirc stam can theoretically pull bigger numbers but mag is more reliable since you can stay at range (stam needs to be in melee) and thus are far less likely to eat an attack and die.

you'll probably end up bar swapping heaps on sorc because pets are toggles, meaning they have to go on both bars which limits space.

but if you tend to stay on just one bar while levelling, you can always level the secondary one by swapping to it when you hand in quests.

Dark elves make great sorcerers. Altmer are a little better but not by much. Dark elves might even put out more dps atm given how good fire staves are.

Bretons are a close 3rd for sorcs, good if you don't want to be an elf.

Magicka Sorcerer builds are very comfy especially for leveling. The two pets do a lot in helping with aggro. Later on, you get dark deal, and hardened ward for a lot of resource/survivability.

Clanfear can heal like someone pointed out, but it scales off HP and is expensive. It's great until you get your other summon which morphs into Twilight Matriarch. The Matriarch morph is a very good heal for you and 2 other allies at a reasonable rate. With it slotted and a Restoration staff, you can also start queuing as a healer for instant dungeon queues.

While you do have to have the pet slotted in both bars, it's not a huge deal especially for leveling. If you do decide to go healer for dungeons with the Twilight Matriarch, I find it quite enjoyable since you can just use a Destruction staff 90% of the time and rely on the Matriarch heal to sustain everyone and only switch to your Restoration bar on hard fights.

I heard AD is slightly lower than the other two, but I think all three are fairly even.

The best caster classes are High Elf, and Breton. High elf has more damage while Breton works out a bit better as healer/magtank types, but the differences are small.

Dunmer is decent jack of all trades, since it benefits Stam and Magicka.

Some argue that Argonian makes the best healers, but the differences are tiny too.

Only REAL way to screw up race is to pick a pure Stam dps race like Redguard then go Magtank, but even then it should be okay.

I'm downloading the game right now, what do the classes mean when weapon skills exist? I'm going to make a Wood Elf Stealth Archer Nightblade whatever, and a Dragon/Templar 2h/dual wield sword thing. I don't understand how the class skills interact with weapon skills though, considering all the class skills for Templar and most of the Dragon ones don't have stamina morphs according to the wiki.

For PC EU faction balance in PvP its:

AD - biggest population, all day coverage, shit players but win most campaigns due to pug leaders and mindless zergs.

DC - second biggest pop (apparently) better skilled players, lots of individual ones, zerg less, run in small guild spec ops groups. They place second on most campaigns or 1# like in Azura.

EP - normalfag faction, rely only on big red blob zergs, have good pug leaders but apparently there is less of them than they used to be and they struggle a lot since DC prefers to fight them rather than AD zergs and AD uses that and fucks them up from the other side.

Classes are four "baselines" for your characters. From there, each class can go magicka or stamina, then they can develop into ranged dps, melee dps, healer, tank. As for weapon skills, they will usually make up for a lot of what you use. Melee dps can pick from 2h with bow or dual wield with bow, for example.


Your class skills tend to support your weapon skills. A lot of class abilities have utility functions (buffs, crowd control, movement), so even if you are a stamina class, you can use these skills that cost magicka. As skills get higher level, they are able to morph or evolve into different versions. A selection of magicka skills have stamina morph versions and vice versa.

As far as I know, all of the combinations are viable for most of the game, with some combinations more suitable than others. Stamina DK tank will have an easier time than Stamina Sorcerer tank, for example, but I can main tank trials (raids) with my Stam Sorcerer tank no problem.


You are able to respec your skillpoints and attributes fairly easily, so I would recommend picking a good race+class combination over other things. Basically, if you wanted to change your stam dps into a mag tank later, you can.

Don't let the four classes fool you into thinking how you can build your characters. For example, the current best melee stamina dps class is actually Sorcerer and magic ranged Dragonknight dps is very good as well.

You get 2 bars with 5 skill slots + ultimate ability (3 slots if you're a sorcerer)
Each bar can be filled with skills, be it class skills or weapon skills. The requirement for using a weapon skill is that you have the weapon equipped. There's no requirements for class skills.

When you're a stamina player (someone with all your points into stamina because due to the game's current balance there's very little reason to not put all your points into either stamina or magicka), you still have a magicka resource pool and use it for utility skills you don't have to cast a lot such as buff, non-damaging crowd control abilities or escapes, while your stamina bar is your bread and butter, while it's the opposite if you're a magicka player.

Been messing around a little.
I ran Crypt of Hearts II and found my clannfear couldn't survive some bosses and floods of trash mobs, so I swapped it out for inner light. I kept winged twilight because of my set bonus and the extra healing came in handy every now and then. Tried swapping our power surge and elemental drain for daedric prey (I have velocious curse at IV and wanted to give that one a try) and crystal fragments. Crystal fragments on my front bar works well, since it keeps proccing frequently enough. I had to bring back elemental drain on my back bar, though, because I was running out of magicka very fast and no one else seems to apply it. I miss power surge's constant heals though, since I have nearly 50% crit rate which means I heal almost all the time from elemental blockade and liquid lightning.

So I'm thinking in groups where the tank is doing fine and/or there's too much damage for the clannfear to handle, I'll swap it out for inner light. If the tank is having trouble keeping aggro on too many enemies, I'll bring it back. This has happened often enough that I'm convinced my clannfear is doing a good enough job. I've seen it comfortably tanking a few enemies, keeping some pressure off groups and, more importantly, myself. I'm keeping winged twilight around until I'm convinced to wear a different set.

Seems like both hardened ward and pet damage scales off magicka, so I'm pushing that as hard as I can. Sitting around somewhere between 30k-36k with IL and pet bonus. Pets also get my crits, which is kinda nice. I think I'll run with this until it stops being viable.

Also, the winged twilight sings sometimes. I can never stop using her. Maybe I'll become a healer one day.

It's always worth asking a healer to run ele drain. 99% of the time they won't, but it's something that helps them too, and is much more reliable than orbs.

has a lot of good ideas, but I don't agree with some, so you can take both of our opinions together and experiment. Respecing is easy, I do it all the time after trying out skills.

Crystal Fragment is indeed 10/10. The curse is good if you have space, but if you don't, that's not a big deal.

I'm not crazy about Overload. I use the magic return morph for utility and 3rd bar mostly. It does good damage, but you are spending time attacking instead of using spells. A fire-and-forget type of ultimate like the Atronach works just as well while you cast your other spells.

Volatile is decent, but Clannfear actively taunts and is incredibly tanky. You can go either way.

I've leveled my sorcerer in all manners as my main up till trials, and people have never complained about my pets in dungeons. I usually only run one of them in dungeon instead of both and have both out for soloing for fun/extra bodies. You don't need them or anything, but the Clannfear is good for tanking a hard mod for questing while the Matriarch is a good heal as I said before.

Other than that, Mage's fury or Endless Fury is a good execute skill. Experiment a bit and pick skills you like. I wouldn't worry much about it. I recommend spending points on skills instead of passives early on, so you can power level a tree if you want to and get to experience the different skills and their morphs.

I generally at max only use 2 pets/bound armor skills, since they do take up a spot on each bar. For dungeons where things matter more, I'll drop to one pet or bound armor and slot in more useful things. As far as dungeon/end game stuff goes, the pet is good for the passve 8% max hp, and both skills are also good for the 25% stamina/hp regen bonus.

My opinion? Twilight Matriarch should always be on your bar for the great heal and decent ranged dps. The other Twilight morph is not as good, since it attacks so slow and above 50% hp is not that useful.

You never want to have more than two toggles occupying your bars. Three skills per bar is already very restrictive. A popular combo is bound aegis + inner light and no pets because it grants several boni. See which pet you are comfortable with, and whether or not you feel like bound armor is worth it or not. Yeah you're fine. Personally, I'm building my Magsorc more as a 70%heal 30%dps type with about 30 or so points in Blessed. I queue as heal and stay on Destro bar using Twilight Matriarch as heal most of the time. Only when the group sucks or fights are hard, so I go full time Resto.

So with that in mind, if you go 100% dps with CP/gear, you are able to heal most Vet dungeons without problems probably.

Is there a reason why people run dolmens in alikir desert rather than dehsaan?
I want mothers sorrow shit as I level, would be nice to get it instead of a bunch of shit I don't need from alikir.

What's a good spammable skill for farming/running dolmens for a StamKnight that wants to tank?
I'm rather hoping it's not just whirlwhind/steel tornado, since DW doesn't really do anything for me build wise or personally.

Some dungeons requires the tanker to switch to dps. Better level up dw and even bow. Without dolmen and xp buff, it's a pain in the ass to do it. Level up everything.

It's doable. I absolutely suck at stealth-shit and did it as a mage. There's little hiding spots you can escape to even when you're seen that make it a little easier. You can also just kill everyone who sees you, or sneak attack instakill before they see you. You might get a bit of a bounty, but that shouldn't be too much of an issue.

A good tank wouldn't be useless in that situation, a good tank would spam ign shield and chock talons to keep the dd alive.

Also there is a dungeon that make the healer/tank/dd useless for few seconds, vRoM HM where if your healer gets picked they have to go across the room and then face way from the group to deal with a mechanic while everyone takes ham dmg from the boss.

Not auto I guess but it's impossible for me to make runes without this since vanilla rune making feels like it's missing have the info this provides. The way it sorts it too is just perfect. Once you use it you can't not use it afterwards so be warned.

Just installed Shissu's PvP game/AvA booster and Votan's adaptive settings, fucking unreal how much of difference it make even with everything already turned to min. Voltan's advanced setting is another I got, never have to tweak the .ini myself again.
