I disagree. I always thought MGQ trilogy had a decent story that is written really well. I would say It's strongest point is that the characters are really interesting and fleshed out. Besides, we only seen part 1 of paradox, so its not really fair to compare the two.

It depends what you like. The original MGQ trilogy is more of a VN with light puzzle elements while Paradox is a full-blown RPG with impressive depth. (Note that Paradox only has part 1 released.)

Personally, I prefer the original's formula since it's easier to enjoy the story without any grind, and more fun/horafying having Luka take on monster girls one on one.

In any case, if you're still deciding, you should definitely play both, starting with the original.

As others have stated you can't really do an apples to apples comparison because one of them is a visual novel with psuedo RPG elements and the other is a very deep, straight-up RPG. There's no stats to care about in the original, they're more there for fun/flavor.

Some have said it's not fair to do a comparison because part 2/3 aren't out yet but honestly I've had loads more fun with part 1 of Paradox than I did with the original trilogy. So I think Paradox is much better, but honestly playing Paradox without playing the original is a bad idea. You'll be jumping into something without the context you really should have, and just because I personally like Paradox more does not mean that the original trilogy is bad; it's very good.

Sara comes to mind. Just the right blend of sexy and difficult. To me at least, that feels like the moment when Luka becomes a real S tier Hero. The Queens are OK, Beelzebubs are OK, but that Sara fight really has personal meaning for Luka and it comes off as really polished. Combine that with the fantastic sprites, great attacks, and a nice boss difficulty level, and you have what I consider to be a perfect fight.
