Entire idea of new realm is fucking dumb. Don't level an alt while your main isn't 60.
Don't waste your time on professions while leveling, they're a time sink. Focus on hitting 60, then farm for more gold per hour than professions can make you, then decide what you want to level and just buy supplies.
Don't worry about "pairing" professions, buy shit that you need, use gathering professions to farm.
/nosg/ is probably more knowledgeable than you.

I'm going back to my 60 to fuck around at least, raid with my old guild at best if enough people are back, but I know that the new server is going to be quite a bit larger.
Can anyone name a similar situation (new server opens up when an older server already exists) when then the older server didn't become "dead" in comparison? Nost may be a special case due to interest and I imagine both servers will be "fine" but deluding yourself into thinking the new won't be THE server is silly and a lot like the k1 guys telling everyone how k2 won't matter.
The amount of mainstream press and hype that nost had after shutdown was huge and this is even bigger. There are countless bandwagoners who have never played on a pserver in their lives waiting for the fresh server, it really can't be overstated how fucking huge the population is going to be for both servers.
PVE can fuck itself, even normies don't want anything to do with pve vanilla.

Nostalrius had 10-15k people online. That's a few times more than the Blizzard server caps.

Sure: it depends only on whether they enforce queues or not, to spread the population over all servers.

No one knows what they will do yet. What if the population is 60k and the caps are 10k? Will they have to open 5 new servers? How will they ensure that the population is evenly distributed? It is a mystery.

The only way to know is to wait 6 months and make a character on the highest populated server then.

There is a possibility that Nost will not have enough new players to sustain the population, but the new server also has an issue with the higher level content being released in the far future and the lower level gear being inaccessible to new players because there are no established guilds that already have the gear, who will let the new players have it for example.

I think the whole situation is mismanaged by the Nost staff and they should have clear goals for each server, and state them publicly. As it is, we don't know if they want Nost to become a raidlog server, if there will be merges, if they want to spread the population evenly etc.
