Taking away a ranger's daggers is actually more counterproductive than leaving them equipped. Ranger pawns are gonna engage in melee combat eventually/inevitably and there's literally nothing you can do about it, so you might as well let them deal some good damage when they do.
On the other hand, you could give them some upgraded Rusted Daggers for delicious poison+torpor shenanigans whenever they melee something. It's like giving a Strider pawn a Rusted Bow.

BBI has this nasty damage minimum thing that the Grigori weapon is strong enough to surpass but your pawn will need a Ur-Dragon weapon or one of the Everfall merchant weapons to do anything.
