Last thread >>128735365
>Metal Gear Online is by far the most unfun thing I've played in a while. Nothing has left me as frustrated. And it's entirely backwards in how it should be.
mostly mad about the fucking p2p though
why would they use p2p. why is open mic on by default.
why. why. why. why. why. why. why.
I agree it's fun. There are some glaring issues such as hitreg and p2p jewry, but last night I played with some buds and holy shit we had a blast. Infil with Fulton punch and fulton cannons makes for some hilarious game changers.
>Enforcer is the best class by far and always on top of the scoreboard
>Infiltrator least useful with most of his utilities being gimmicks that are harder to do than normal gameplay
>in a MGS online mode the stealth class is the worst
>Fultoning has no purpose unless the person has high bounty
>stealth camo is useless
>stealth in general has no point except in CnD
>laggy hosts a good portion of the time
>broken as fuck hitreg as you mention
>open mic by default and no push to talk
On top of the scoreboard or most kills. Either or. Then it's usually the infiltrators after the Scouts because Infiltrator sucks. I love playing the stealth classes in the game usually but cmon, it needs something to put it on par with the other two besides being able to do something that's necessary hardly ever.
Crouch when you're about to CQC someone who's prone.
This is how I keep grabbing people right out of box slides.
Slide into them if I miss the early grapple then crouch and choke them out.
There's absolutely no point to him as of right now. Most Infiltrators I see will always CQC throw you to the ground and kill you in the same time an Enforcer can gun down several opponents. Usually the Infiltrator dies trying to kill me this way too. And if there's more than one opponent, Infiltrator is fucked compared to the other classes. And there often is.
Run a bunch of Enforcers and you'll win a lot easier on most gamemodes.
Infil is a detriment to the team in high level play.
Enforcer is best for kills, scout is best for points
Take intel 3 and tactical 1/lethal aim 1 with e.locators and watch the points come rolling in
I'm Solid Snake, but this Solidus guy sounds like someone I could relate to.
>Intel is a detriment to the team in high level play
And that's the root of the issue. It's METAL GEAR Online. Stealth should be viable. I'm tired of stealth classes having Spy syndrome.
how the fuck do i cqc someone that i have cqced onto the ground
kicks do nothing and i can't throw them (except one time some guy threw me when i was already on the ground)
what the fuck is this madness
should i just quit playing because this shit feels stupid as fuck
If you get grabbed/fultoned in high level play, you should have teammates there ready to brutally rape the poor little infiltrator unless the person getting grabbed is alone behind enemy lines, which is a foolish play
i'm not sure what adjustments you can make to the game to change that fact, good teamwork makes infiltrators completely useless
however in pub games with all solo players, they're perfectly viable.
>mfw someone leaves a comment on my profile saying that i'm the best MGO player
Just because i was camping with a tranq sniper, suscessfully headshotting a bunch of players in C&D
this game can be pretty fun but currently it has so many issues that ruin the whole experience
Konami doesn't know how to balance Infiltrators.
They're either the most broken class or the most useless and they can't seem to be anything in between.
The class system was really dumb and I'm glad Konami LA got fired.
is it too late to remove classes?
Having your singleplayer avatar locked to a class is stupid.
Its impossible to balance the classes. But I feel playing on PS3 MGO there is always an equal split of the classes.
More waifu customisation please
Theres only small issues mainly with the sound. Not having audio sliders and having mic on by default is amazingly bad, the only other real issue has to be p2p and host migration that resets the match. Im still having fun though and fights can be super cuhrazy as more people get in the same area.
Since matchmaking is fucked, post MGO characters.
>there are plebs who don't have the infil puffy swimsuit
assault rifle scout is hilariously good
also rate my
>there are people with shit taste who made female infiltrators
From watching competitive videos it looks like the only reason to run infiltrator is rushing in CnD and slowing down respawns with cqc stuns in CP
Everything else is just for
I topscore almost every game of every gamemode i play lmao
cloak peeker's advantage is incredibly good and infiltrator's fulton 3 takes like 3/4 of a mag to kill in bounty hunter, it's free wins
sorry you've played with trash infiltrators though
Man, MGO just needs a couple things to make it great. That's it. It's all interface shit, too.
>Mic options and PUSH TO FUCKING TALK
>(Optional) Team switch button
>(Optional) Lets you use your custom tracks
THAT'S FUCKING IT. Hell, there was sort of a party system on consoles, and it's clear the mic thing is a holdover from consoles where people just unplug or mute their mics.
What I don't get is, what in the fuck were they doing for the past three months between the console and PC releases of MGO? They got the main game out at the same time, I don't get why there was even a delay. They are functionally identical, down to the mic issues. I figured that time was to adapt it to PC.
Is there a way to contact the devs and try and suggest these changes? I remember they were on Reddit or some shit the other day as people complained about the mics, and it's really just a couple things that need fixing.
Also, there's incoming DLC with more gamemodes and maps, if I recall, right? And while I am fine with the BDU jumpsuit, I wish I could use the MSF one. The model is better, I don't like the padded shoulders, and fuck's sake I want the sick shoulder protectors from MSF and Snake.'
Sure, though MGO has a lot of anti-reverse on its code and it'd be easier to just shoot your friend in the chest a bunch to test bullets to kill at various ranges
I'm not getting paid to do this or anything so yeah I'm probably not gonna fuck around in konami's precious code
Need the to at least color them bro. I wouldnt buy the 1k fucking colors though, god damn.
bh is objectively the worst game type, sorry lad.
Infiltrator is useless in domination because you can see them coming unless youre blind. Better to have an enforcer or scout. At least with scout you give your team a huge advantage over cqcing someone just to have the fulton shot down.
Let's not forget
>Pause button works the way every pause button in every video game ever works
It's faster to hit Alt-F4 and boot the game back up and join a match than it is to sit through multiple wait screens to disconnect
Why the hell does scoreboard shit override standard menus? It's supposed to be the other way around.
Each piece of Gear has its own set of colors that have to be purchased.
Only the Gear that is the same across classes lets you buy the color once and then all 3 of your characters have it.
Swimsuits use MB coins for colors, and every piece needs colors unlocked individually
That's why colors for default gear is the most cost effective purchase, cause any class can use them for camo
You have sick imagination, my friend :3
>guy is running around the map with no weapon
>he shoots a grenade launcher killing me instantly with no weapon in hand or breaking his run
is this a cheat?
Nah, he just has a really bad connection.
like 4 seconds after you died the animations for weapon draw and fire played, completely out of sync with the game.
I played against a guy who had the same issue. I got shot up when he was just walking. After I died he whipped out a pistol and fired over my corpse a bunch of times.
The lag is real.
>let's make autobalance sort teams by level
>let's forget the fact that people can reset their level
>people who don't even look at you when you spam "HELP ME OUT HERE"
>overhear a conversation in the Africa map discussing white people looking down on the soldiers talking
>call each other brothers
>they're both white
>Can I change
You can change the NAME of your characters. The name that nobody but you sees.
You can change your TPP avatar's face and name by replaying the base game.
That's basically it, outside of "[getting] your fancy hats on!"
Just learned the Cardboard box can protect you from a fulton launcher at the cost of the box.
The ammo dropped is dependent on the gun they were holding when they died.
Most players won't hold out their secondary unless they're using shields or tranquilizers, so most ammo dropped is for primaries.
how does fulton launcher even work? I got nailed by it while riding around on the walker but when I put it down it doesn't catch anyone.
does it only catch people on the same plane/height as the launcer?
Its literally people throwing out ideas and talking to each other. Esports has nothing to do with it. This is basically the same as a forum with less restrictions and not archived (besides 3rd party obviously).
Besides theres nothing to talk about when it comes to TPP besides speculation and that is absolutely cancer tier discussion because its all fucking wrong.
nah, I know when its a headshot or not because I read the kill things. Its my shitty connection and the games shitty netcode fucking me over. Its fine because I can still do scout/infiltrator well but enforcer is impossible for me
I've also seen the 'sure, we oppressed some guys, but why do they have to hate Afrikaans so much?' conversation held between black guys. Truly, the world of private forces has made us equals.
>One level below command FOB core
>Dive UP stairs
>Snake does a fucking somersault then stands up
>Get spotted and killed
It seems to look in the direction you "place" it from. IE: If you're facing an open area, that's where it's gonna look. If you place it facing a box, it's not going to anything.
It and the plush both are a bit awkward with it's detection range. Sometimes it'll find people slightly sideways, but generally it has to be BANG ON or at least like a claymore for it to trigger.
More like why are rush maps shit?
People stuffing 16 players in a Rush map: WHY!? That many players means people can't actually flank or attempt to hide and stealth around people.
Rush maps are for people who dont really want to do any type of flanking or thinking and simply want to run, gun and die.
Honestly I dont know why there isnt infinite stamina for sprinting because you dont want to be going full sprint across the map in non-rush due to how you get spotted on the map. Im sure having more weight means you sprint less, but that should affect weapon switching and readying than whatever it currently does.
But guys 90% of the players are Enforcers
THINK OF THE INFILTRATORS
Has anyone got this mod? It looks exactly like what I want, but I'm worried about getting banned from the Online in case Konami thinks it's hacking
>Set filters to Bounty Hunter only, still puts me in Comm Control
>No way to launch MGO directly
>No way to default everybody's mics to OFF
>No way to set "I don't want to host"
>No dedicated servers
>The fact everything is locally hosted at all
>Extremely hilarious lag compensation, mostly invincible teleporting niggers that die 5 minutes later
You can literally put the plushies in the fucking open as long as it has general foot traffic and people will run into it on accident.
Ive had people walk into it even after they fucking saw me put it down. Again as long as its a good traffic area, the thing will grab someone.
>Consolefags so mad they didn't want to make a new General
>Joostfags so fucked up in the head they are re-doing the same images
>Enforcerfags are so naive they think 1 image makes everything right
>Scouts are bros
>Infiltratorfags don't get enough love. They are single-handedly turn the tides in battle
>All the other fags are waiting for PCbros to stop talking about MGOC
>Others are samefagging to get a new convo started
Ask your parents to buy the outfits for you.
I wouldn't mind survival if they add a twist to it. Like....
>50 Kills: Call in Quiet to assist! Quiet is equipped with her "ZZZ" Sniper Rifle! Quiet will briefly soft-mark enemies in your area.
This is off the assumption that interrogation in survival won't show every. It could show the guy you have just interrogated next field of action.
You guys know that Survival in MGO is high level competitive play, right?
It's a mode where you cycle through maps and game modes and play matches of six on six with regulated rules for high GP pay outs.
It's the same gameplay as MGO but you don't join a room, you form a team of six and get matched up against another team of six and you try to go on and maintain a win streak.
It was the most fun to be had in MGO2.
But it also brought out all the glitchers and such.
Also, in MGO2 you couldn't play Survival whenever you wanted. I think it was 3 hour sessions 3 nights a week.
And the Australia players got fucked because they were playing on the EU servers.
Why does literally no one play Rush in Automatch?
>30 Day EXP Booster
>Has been grinding the right way since release
>Is getting fed up
Ok. Who wants to boost? I'll do a large cup of tea plus cigarette's worth of boosting.
Okay, /mgg/ post your favourite MGO music:
FOB set or GZ set here
lobby just died actually,
might make a late night one for neets, get on discord if i end up making it
ps i suck dicks at c & d
can you grab someone out of prone?
does the stealthwalk grab have better range than standing?
how do you grab someone instead of throwing while running?
how long do I have to wait for infiltrator cqc perks?
I got the battledress but it doesnt look right how does the Enforcer 1000 GP look with nice outfit combos
>mfw I just discovered quick-swapping when you're aiming your weapon and press the dive button
>mfw my ass was saved by downed powerlines zapping a giga nigga in armor
>when you take out the players harassing Venom
does taking attachments or perks that increase accuracy do anything for a weapon if the accuracy bar is already maxed out?
>TDM, Control points, and one sneaking mode
>that can't possibly be it, maybe it's j-just a beta
>that's seriously all the game has
How long can anyone be expected to play this? Didn't MGO2 have a ton of shit to do
No classes meant you'd have people going in as grenade specialists or CQC masters or Box rushers
Maps were more closed but less prone to rushes, lots more hidey spots for ambushes
Empty boxes scattered all over the map so you could be the one guy that sat completely still as people walked by
Crazy CQC system based off stance and instant box bumps
Typically you were either a tryhard nonlethalist that knifed everybody you downed or a braindead m4 headsprayer wearing full maroon gear
It was great
Whenever i try to join a automatch session it disconnects as soon as i join , i can join regular games through the ''server'' browser though.
Sometimes people overlook them, especially if your in a blindspot or on top of square objects already the color of your box. It would be cool to see them give us more box options though.
they are not camouflaged by all enemies, just the ones wearing the same uniform. Also if you do anything suspicious or get to close, you can alert the guards in which you will want snake.
Also, its more fun to play as snake :)
RIP portable ops online and PO+ online
>cloak and dagger
>half the enemy team are recon
>the other half are infiltrators
>my team is slowly getting fultoned
>one by one they get sent to the shadow real
>hide in a box and pray they dont find me
I've managed to do some decent stealthing in MGO3.
Though there's no reason to, for every one good stealth fulton, there's around 10 deaths. Doesn't help I once god a headshot tranq only for the person to shoot me after it said they were "stunned".
>just the ones wearing the same uniform
It's pretty stupid desu
>scientists freak out if they see a soldier dressed like all the other soldiers
>soldiers don't mind that new soldier with a tranq pistol running around with no patrol route
>mfw its the 3rd time today konami disconnects me when im about to finish a FOB perfectly
fuck me why do they have to use such a harsh penalty for disconnection???
just pretend the thing never happened and have me pay deployment fee.
do they have to make it so rival FOB knows who you are AND reduce your points AND have you pay deployment fee AND have miller be an asshole to you?
If they didn't have a disconnect penalty that hit you like a ton of bricks faggots would be disconnecting the minute someone stunned them and was approaching to fulton them
Sucks if you have potato internet but life is harsh.
Don't forget that back in March of last year when Konami had a preview bootcamp of reviewers being able to play an unfinished version of the game, there were little things like the DD troops you can play as only having a limited amount of sprinting stamina depending on their Combat stat. That got removed in the final version of the game and the only remnant is the wheezing some of them have.
I'm sure that's why they're pretty much the exact same as Snake in all but maybe endurance and the Bionic Arm depending on the stat as well.
I want to deck my qt out in white or red, maybe even both. BUT IT'S SO FUCKING EXPENSIVE.
WHY ARE COLORS. COLORS. SO EXPENSIVE.
I could understand gold and platinum being pricey, the camo's too yeah understandable. But basic colors? Fuck right off.
How the fuck do offline/online resources work? I have been playing exclusively in single player but it seems that all the vehicles and gun emplacements I fulton go in my "online" stock, and the GMP I get from selling them go in my "online" funds, which might as well not even fucking exist because it is never spent: when I'm doing research, my offline funds go in the red and the 10mil or so GMP I have online is never used.
How the fuck does this shit work?
Shit like the prices legitimately make me want to cheat my Gear Points. Not like it'd interfere with their microtransactions, since GP and MB Coin purchases are completely separate and there's no actual economy system in place for GP.
1300 MB coins. Not like i was going to build a 2nd fob for no reason.
For some reason you can literally type out the loadout names like when you name your Avatar in singleplayer, but the actual MGO lacks text chat. Despite there being a kinda-chat via the radio setup in the upper-right. And they refused to implement text chat on consoles.
They gave the girls such fat fucking tits.
Hahaha, you're welcome anon
What does the weight do? Does it actually make you faster to go low-weight, or does it just affect sprint? I like going fast, but taking a loadout that allows to me fight back effectively (Or that I like) ends up with me at a B if I'm lucky.
Is there a bandanna in MGO3?
No bandanna yet. Maybe in some later update or some shit.
Also I swear there's a speed difference but it's so slight that my S-weight runner tranq class for Infiltrator is only ever so slightly faster than an Enforcer he was sprinting alongside.
Besides, you should stop sprinting everywhere liberally. It actually gives away your position on the radar if an enemy's close by enough to detect it.
The bar isn't very high, they can easily do a better job.
Also can you edit a characters face afterwards?
So MGO content can also be backported over to the main game it seems. Reports of a proper Ocelot with no first-person glitch ported over succesfully. Quiet here isn't so lucky.
No, I knew that, that's why I phrased it "actually faster" or "sprint." I play Infiltrator, but if I can take whatever the fuck I want and still go about as fast out of sprint, then I could just ignore the speed ranking and just have
fun. Not like I should be running much anyhow.
That's not me m8, this is my new look.
What's your name, let's operate.
The neck seam isn't so seamless.
MGO2 was fucking god tier with customization.
And then we have this almost nonexistent one.
Why couldn't they just grab shit from the single player? Where's Ocelot or Miller's dister? Where's the XoF face wraps? WHERE IS EVERYTHING?!
I'd do the testing but the only way I can think of reliably doing so would be recording loadouts of different weights running in a straight line from one point to another, as well as actions like climbing and diving, then playing them slo-mo/side by side and comparing the frame duration.
Which I don't have the software to do.
but thats the thing i was 100% undetected non lethal rolling my way to final platform no other player defending and pretty much nothing done besides tranquilizing some guards. now i got some giga nigger potentially invading my FOB lethally like all niggers do
Can we at least put posters from the game on our boxes?
>Didn't realize for at least 1 minute
How long until we can salute in single player?
Snek had a hard life...
SP character. I wish I made him an enforcer or infiltrator tho, they have the prettiest prestige armors.
Can you guys answer me one question.
Why the fuck is "flaming buffalo" a recurring staff member?
i saw a video of one guy finding a second flaming buffalo in a FOB so i checked my combat unit and there she was exactly same stats as the guys 2 flaming buffalo.
what the fuck is this and where did she come from?
Would you go out for a drink with Skull Face?
If you let one of the attackers cap at the finale 30 seconds (it takes 10 seconds to cap? So 15 seconds left?) they get +1000 for capping.
I dunno if dual-caps at the same time can happen. But just FYI.
>also she is S+ does that mean she is better than fucking snek and ocelot? lel
so is glacier mongoose and silent crocodile
right now the most popular soldiers are Buffalo, Wallaby, and the "Waiting Room Duo"
>also she is S+ does that mean she is better than fucking snek and ocelot? lel
Ocelot, yes. Snek, no.
Snake can equip multiple upgrades to his bionic arm, while the majority of soldiers only have one or two, chosen at random.
Snake doesn't sound like he's choking if he sprints for a few seconds either.
Interrogations. Honestly the game isn't hard, the grind is a little too much. After my 1st ascension I won't boost again. Though I will do it one more time after ascension just for a quick head start.
Also Interrogation nets you 250-500 points I believe.
>MGO2-ish player grading system
>MGO2 emblem shirts are back
Basically just making the game even more like MGO2.
> Honestly the game isn't hard, the grind is a little too much
That's why I'm doing it to 37 and never resetting. After level 20 or so it starts to get mindless just to unlock one or two items per level up until 30 and then one item for a REALLY long level-up to 37.
They really need to overhaul the progression system or make resetting give you faster EXP/boost that.
One suit and some colors. Do it again, another set of colors for the suit. Do it one more time, still more colors for said suit.
There is NO VALUE to resetting beyond that one outfit if you REALLY want that outfit. And even then, no benefit.
Survival, the skill system was way better than the class system because you could change your style up to be whatever you wanted, the maps had way more coherent design and there were a lot more game modes, a bunch of little things like text chat, an in game clan system, training rooms, better customization and a lot more content.
>E rank sloths are going to get bullied out of survival teams again
>NA/EU teams vs JP teams
>all-maroon wearing turbo elitist clan faggotry
Hypernatremia: the update.
When you had to sign up for 3 separate accounts to be allowed play.
And then the worst net code I've ever experienced in a game.
Every game mode devolving into simple deathmatch.
I thought it meant hidden colours for EVERY item. Fuck that, I only wear the starter shit anyway, sometimes bikinis from glorious MB coin glitch.
I haven't seen anything about that. I did find this:
Which backs up what the previous anon told me about the colours.
The customisation in this game sucks
You can Ascend 3 times with each character.
Your first Ascension will unlock a class specific gear suit, 1 additional loadout slot and 10k GP.
Your second Ascension will unlock colors for your class specific gear suit, another additional loadout slot and 30k GP
Your third Ascension will unlock more colors for your class specific gear suit, another additional loadout slot(for a total of 7) and 50k GP.
The class specific suits are Battle Dress for the Enforcer, Sneaking Suit for the Infiltrator and a Ghillie Suit for the Scout.
Which is absolutely pointless if you do a lot of auto-matches. You can generally get the GP for the glasses (10K) within a week or two of automatches.
The major bullshit is the lack of stuff to use said 50KGP on. No reason to redo the grind when you unlock one outfit, get some GP that you may not be able to fully blow... etc.
There's some serious content problems. But I don't blame KojiProLA specifically for that since I doubt they were entirely ready for this to go out the door given they were also helping with the PC port of Phantom Pain/Ground Zeroes in general.
Source/screenshots for the loadout thing? That's literally the only thing I'd want out of those rewards but the only thing I've found saying that is anons on here. I figure if it was legit there'd be screens and guides from the console veterans mentioning it if it were true.
I don't have any proof but I do have a level 40 Infiltrator on the console version of the game with 7 loadout slots.
You'll just have to take my word for it or find out for yourself or get proof from someone else.
>When you had to sign up for 3 separate accounts to be allowed play.
Holy shit I actually totally forgot about that. What the fuck were they thinking.
>tfw if you didnt have red colored everything you were a complete shitter
anyone know how to get the research time mod and resource mod working with the mgo beta patch? I don't feel like switching back and forth and redownloading 3gb just to play single player.
Red was the most expensive color and Reward Points were earned almost exclusively through Survival.
If you were going to show off that you were an MGO badass, you had to wear red.
Or something ridiculous that cost a lot of RP.
Thats the fucking look. Especially that red fucking beret.
I did. And go play mgo2 to find out :)
Flaming Buffalo please
>If you were going to show off that you were an MGO badass, you had to wear red.
At least until the DM automatching exploit happened and then any scrub could snap it up.
It also became a literal red flag for "lag switching faggot" after a while.
if anyone is interested in watching a match in the ESL asia tournament, one of my team is streaming at twitch slash nspyr_ftr
the mode is comm control, 6 minute rounds
> Also do you always only have 4 perk slots?
Yes. Which isn't as bad as you think since you'll generally only pick a loadout to do one or two things.
Higher level stuff gives you level 3 perks. Which really do gamechange (Lv. 3 NVG can see Lv. 3 Stealth) the game in a way.
Theres a shit ton of resource crates, but because of how the crate system works it's better to only grab those crates while doing the mission Skull Face because the respawn on the crates is faster and you can grab three tanks and some walker gears for money while you're at it.
>see someone skulking around
>decide to lob my grenade at them since I have the thing that makes them blow up on impact
>tossed it right on the poor guy's head and sent him to the shadow realm
>saudi oil princes were actually paying cold hard cash to have tourneyfags and glitchers win them tourney berets
>accounts with high GP values and pricey red/white rwd shop gear sold for hundreds of dollarydoos to people who played like trash
The prestige for gear dried up pretty fast.
It was all about saving up those grade points, maintaining that precious level 18 and showcasing your HS meta mastery on overproduced youtube videos.
