Fucking thread died edition
>Can the game be considered a full release?
No, for all intents and purposes, KSP should be considered still in early access state. The game is nowhere near being able to stand on its own legs both from a gameplay perspective (career mode is definitely not ready and balanced) and a stability perspective. There are still major bugs and memory leaks that shouldn't exist on a finished game.
>Are there big issues with the game?
Bugs and instability are still real and frequent problems, as with every product still in beta. Ask in thread for details.
>What are the devs doing?
Modified versions of popular mods are being included in the stock game while the game engine is being upgraded to its latest version. The next major update (1.1) is supposedly going to bring a complete overhaul of the GUI, be 64bit friendly, have a refined physics/heating/aero model and generally perform better. An external team with heavily questionable experience (Flying Tiger Entertainment) is being tasked with porting the game to PS4, XboxOne and Wii U. They seem to be rushing for an imminent deadline and they are also working on a version of the game that will be obsolete in a few weeks/months.
>Should I buy the game?
KSP is very enjoyable at first, then it usually needs to be modded to retain some sort of longevity, but doing so may dramatically increase the instability of the game. You will be very familiar with the word "Oops!". The Developers, Squad, have shown many times that they can't handle the project and are trying to squeeze all the money they can with the least amount of effort and with controversial PR tactics. The general consensus at /kspg/ is that you should torrent the game, not because the game itself is unplayable, but because most of us agree that Squad does not deserve your money.

BARIS, Orbiter, Space Engine, OpenTTD, Take On Mars, Project CARS, ULA posting, TRUMP 2016, and planes are also welcome ITT. Schizophrenic mentally unstable attention whores are not.
Reminder to not talk about attention whores. Do not reply to their posts, even if you want to insult them, do not reply to people talking about them, do not ask who they are, filter their tripcodes, do not acknowledge their presence in any way, and assume every mention of them is their own attempt at gathering attention.
first for anon has a crush on the attention whore because he brings him up every thread, and because anon is being such an attention whore himself, daring to rewrite the OP and all, I'm just gonna go ahead and out that he is our resident baneposter RobotsAndSpaceships
WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU ADDING ALL THAT SHIT INTO THE OP ARE YOU MENTALLY CHALLENGED DO YOU ALSO WANT TO INCLUDE A DISCLAIMER ABOUT WHAT THE WEATHER WILL BE LIKE NEXT WEEK OR PERHAPS IF MRS JOHNSON LIKES A LITTLE CREAM WITH HER MERINGUE PIE?
SORRY? You sad son of a bitch. I hope you fucking reflect the impact your lack of care and attention has had on this general and strongly consider suicide as a viable solution to all of your problems. Also see
FUCK YOU RobotsAndSpaceships you are the cancer that is killing this thread.
You're the only person upset by my changes, and you're the only one being affected by my "lack of care and attention" by telling you to fuck off, as the entire general has told you multiple times. Besides, the attention-whore disclaimer doesn't even explicitly mention you, so your response is completely unwarranted and proves how fucking immature you are.
Fuck you MAN. You've singlehandedly managed to bring back the janitor and ruin any form of comfy discussion in /kspg/.
Your paranoia is singlehanded destroying any comfy right now, you think I'm some guy who hasn't posted in a week? Anon please this is just sad. You need to
take your meds, hug your motherand get a cat.
>Your paranoia is singlehanded destroying any comfy right now
You're the one who started this entire argument about a line of text in the OP
>you think I'm some guy who hasn't posted in a week
Not at all. I'm just using it to refer to you since you have many qualities that you and he both share. Besides, if you think about it, there's no reason to say this unless you're MAN himself.
Now, how about you accept the fact that you're wrong and stop fucking ruining the general and letting it be comfy for once? If a line of text in the OP that doesn't even refer to you bothers you that much, then just ignore it, or politely request it to be removed. I've already stated that I'm removing it for the next thread anyway.
Post comfy music.
Uh oh..looks like someone needs to be reminded how to spot and deal with attention whores
the Ultimate AttentionWhore Spotting Chart©.
With this handy checklist you can easily judge for yourself if any post has been made by someone in desperate need for attention.
Just pick a post, grab this chart and see if someone is unironically using any of the following subjects.
Spotting attention whores has never been easier with the Ultimate AttentionWhore Spotting Chart©, you can now ignore them harder than ever!
List of common arguments and topics used by AWs:
- general consensus
- burning squadcast
- obsession with maxmaps
- extreme analism about single words in the OP
- anything about New York
- /kspg/ 2016
- false paradigms (usually related to KSP career/sandbox mode)
- cringy memes invented on the spot like spiders or the letter "a"
- being mad about list of things attention whores say
Attention whores may not be so obvious to spot though, but they become easy targets when criticised. The following is a list of common responses used by attention whores when they run out of arguments:
- everyone is suddenly a shill (euroshill, purchaseshill, squadshill and many more)
- unrelated arguments and responses used to shift the attention away from the questions they don't know how to answer
- everyone is a "negative nothing adder"
- invites to hug ones mother
- invites to check ones blood vessels
- everyone is suddenly a single entity usually called "angry Anon" or "angry janon" or simply a janitor, the attention whore can't accept that more than one person is calling him out
- heavy use of strawman arguments
If ANY of these apply to the post you are reading, congratulations! You found an attention whore! Refer to the bottom part of this post >>128728748 for detailed instructions about the common procedures to follow when faced with AWs.
Thank you for using the Ultimate AttentionWhore Spotting Chart© to make /kspg/ a better place.
I just wanted to bother you guys again with the doc.
Content has basically stopped since a couple of weeks and it looks like nobody has anything else to add.
So I was wondering if we can call it closed, erase the comments, put a decent layout and send it where it is supposed to be sent
What do you think?
Kerbal Space Program has been developed within a false paradigm for the past two years.
So, im playing with remote tech, and my longest-range antenna is barely reaching Dres.
Is it possible to launch a probe to Jool, with a delayed Scientific reports to be made automatically in flight computer (that calculator-like thingie in top left corner) with the delay being 2 years?
Will it stay there if i play with other probes and spacecrafts? I plan to send a probe on fly-by by jool, pass in front of it, so probe returns into range of KSC.
Playing science, not career, im not a madman.
Science gives a tiny bit of challenge and i like that.
But that's not fun. Im kinda roleplaying space race because of my autism and sending ships with two different flags and was thinking that one side turns the tide with this flyby manuever.
>like what you have
What I have is a buggy proof of concept that was never rounded out into a complete game, creating a frankengaming experience with no inherent meaning, and before you can create your own with mods and heavy ignorance, it crashes, corrupts itself, locks the game save and ultimately destroys the universe within the game forcing me to start a brand new install.
it's just our "black" friend.
I bet you wake up saying i hate my life too.
I agree that devs fucked up and are lazy wetbacks doing fuck all, but we got this and im trying to enjoy it as there is no second game like it, buggy or not.
Last time I played it I had a full system of satellites in play with a long term communication link with a probe which drops multiple probes (4 I think) and I just couldn't program a decent descent onto whatever planet I was trying to land on. Just Terrible.
But i been playing KSP since when there were green-blue apoaps and periaps, and there was just the Mun and no planets. And when i got bored of the game i stopped playing it to come back later
like a week agoand i keep coming back enjoying the shit out of the game doing something new every time.
Not everyone has to be such a negative nihilist like you mang.
Don't be surprised when you find out the game really hasn't been expanded much beyond that after 4 years.
One of which they spent on Valentina Kerman, and still got like 8 things wrong with her
Oh i know it all alright, i follow the updates.
I know fuck all is added and i accepted the fact game isnt going anywhere like a year ago.
And you know what? Im content. I dont care anymore, i just treat ksp as abandoned game that is playable anyway and its still fun, despite wasted potential.
>I bought an ice cream in the part from a Mexican
>He said to wait a few minutes because they were still cooling
>handed me a glass of milk and a cup of sugar
>calls me entitled when I ask where my ice cream is
Reminder https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Misselling is a real concept our mexicans are guilty of and they have literally tens of millions of dollars in early access funding sitting in a bank in the netherlands
So just what are you feeling so contented about?
Poor, sweet, innocent newness.
Enjoy these days when you still can't see beyond the horizon. Soon you'll begin to see the same thing everywhere, and with the variety, the love will fall out of your heart.
Like a needle dripping with heroin you'll main line mods to bring just a little piece of that feeling back.
Until you start to use that vein too much and it becomes infected.
And you lose it all, because you let yourself fall in love with something made by a Mexican, and you had to deal with the consequences.
We've all been where you are
Run while you still can
You'll be hateposting with us in just a few months
anyone want to clue me in on which rule this is breaking? I can add some rule breaking content into it if someone would like a justification to continue deleting it
So you should throw the glass of milk on the floor, shit on the sugar and start crying like a fucking baby?
We cant do shit, but enjoy what we have. That's what im doing. I know that's not what i payed for but what the fuck should i do? Sue them?
i just want to fly my spacecrafts and have my space colonies.
i dont care about your fucking fight against the system or whether mexicans stole 6 euros from me 2 years ago when i bought ksp.
What are you even talking about.
I came to a thread about video game and would like to talk about that game.
If you aren't talking about said game or games tied to the general you are going offtopic and are pretty much spam (unwanted messages) to avoid.
Go to mexico and bomb squad instead of clogging up the thread or make squad general or something.
Anybody have any good suggestions for any plane parts packs that are more or less stockalike? I'm getting back into making plens, but the number of parts just aren't satisfying my autism.
The issue here is you're making the claim that Squadcast sold you a cup of milk when you asked for icecream, instead of the reality, which was a cone of ice cream that was fucking awful. They made the game and released it in the state they so chose, and if you deem the game in an early access state (which I would presume most people here do, given the OP) then you as the customer are responsible for choosing whether or not you are willing to pay for it given your expectations.
If you don't like KSP, don't play it and leave. You shouldn't just pointlessly torment yourself by obsessing over something you've stated you dislike, it's unhealthy.
fine, here, rate my helo-copter. It can land on water, traverse air and land. Currently one is en route to Eve.
I had to swithc positions of the engines multiple times to get the perfect balance between center of mass and center of thrust, now it barely tilts to the back, so it isn't so bad.
But other than that, it's on first try. It's not the most manueverable vehicle there is but i could land on VAB and fly around relatively easy.
Forgot to add it has buyoancy floatable air-filled baloons on the bottom to float.
It's a suit you'd lose because Early Access makes clear that the game is not necessarily going to complete all features claimed and Squadcast is not liable to you because of it. You gave them money for a beta and that's what you got; the issue is they decided to be a shitter and never truly move from beta. Now you know, so avoid them in the future.
I should have said this before - I'm not exactly for or against Burning Squadcast or anything like that, and I'm not the guy you were talking to before - I'm speaking more in general terms - just that we should dissuade anybody from buying the game, and make Squad's nonsense public.
Asking "hard questions" in a moderated chat would hardly do that.
Liability disclaimers are boilerplates. While they may impact litigation, they do not entirely preclude it.
So Ford decides to make a new car factory where you can put any piece from any other car on your base model, but you have to sign a waiver saying you won't sue if you die as a result of driving the car. This doesn't make Ford automatically not liable for offering a dangerous product.
This is their take at Early Access games, which is a very new model of production so they don't really have any generalized standard to look into. They claim they are deeply thankful to everyone who is willing to follow us in them in this adventure, but that does not mean they can sell water as a cure for cancer.
The notion that in order to opt-in you strip yourself of all rights as a consumer is ludicrous and deserves to be challenged in open court.
So then if you believe a case can be made, go forth and set precedent. The issue is I don't think you have a chance at winning, especially given the general public perception of Squadcast and the aforementioned millions of early access dollars.
Here's the thing though - one can instead raise a mis-selling claim over the fact that they misrepresented their development capabilities multiple times (having members of the development team that had long since left on the active employees page, having members of the team working on a separate commercial property while claiming they were a full-time member of the core team.)
To add to this, their paid staff members worked on another commercial property while accepting money for those staff members to work on KSP - that goes against most definitions of what early access funding is for, which can be used to raise a breach of contract suit, in addition to their continued usage of false advertising of available content.
Squad made their own bed by courting the Minecraft audience, as has been demonstrated on multiple occasions (Barn, etc.) the fanbase can be manipulated to suddenly hate squad when fed the proper narrative from the right perspective.
It's frankly an intruiguing idea and one I'll probably bring up a lot in the coming days, particularly if someone tries to shape it to be suffocatingly on topic in here.
I remember a building sense of growth that mirrored the apollo program's sense of reaching for the stars.
Then I remember resources.
Then 4chan killed the one who added nothing.
And now it's /2016/ and we have blank slate and a new producer to start over with.
Except Ford is forced to build vehicles that comply with a shitload of regulations and pass a series of inspections before being able to sell them.
so this example is stupid because such a contract implies something illegal on their part (selling a vehicle that may result in injuries of the driver because of possible defects that violate manufacturing standards and regulations) and couldn't be signed in the first place. they simply can't even propose to their customers such a contract.
The difference is that Squad, or any other developer, is not forced to comply with any regulation (except maybe making sure the game doesn't set your computer on fire) nor they explicitly promised that every planned feature would make it into the game, so again, your example doesn't make any sense.
I'd love to see you trying to sue them, but the fact alone that this idea won't ever make it out of kspg is proof enough that there is no case to be made.
try posting this on reddit, you will probably find someone more competent than us at explaining why you have no chance at succeeding.
that is...assuming you will get your ass out of your chair and do something other than being a keyboard warrior
I've only read the first two paragraphs so far but are you aware what Turkey has spent the past month doing?
>the fact alone that this idea won't ever make it out of kspg
That looks like a negative nothing add, no reason to read further.
/kspg/ is strong. /kspg/ is forever.
>only read the first two paragraphs
>quotes something at the end
>not a single answer to any of the points made
it's ok if you don't know how to have a discussion, just stop instead of regurgitating your memes
It's good to know angry _anon is back.
I read the last part after I wrote my first two paragraphs Turkey is dealing with console regulations Max didn't even look at when he signed the deals, much less warn Harv of
>Squad is not forced to comply with any regulation (except maybe making sure the game doesn't set your computer on fire)
I wouldn't exactly say they get a "pass" in that department.
There are basic standards of quality one expects from a ready for 1.0 "game" -- stability, consistency, maturity, KSP has none of those things.
The fact that it is called "Kerbal Space PROGRAM" is false advertising. You cannot conduct a meaningful program for any amount of time and the act of even trying is a sisyphean as getting the previous thread to 750 posts
>There are basic standards of quality one expects from a ready for 1.0 "game" -- stability, consistency, maturity, KSP has none of those things.
>The fact that it is called "Kerbal Space PROGRAM" is false advertising. You cannot conduct a meaningful program for any amount of time and the act of even trying is a sisyphean as getting the previous thread to 750 posts
why don't you sue them then?
do you have any official source stating the existence of said "basic standards"? can you prove beyond any reasonable doubt that KSP violates any of those standards, assuming you manage to find them? do you have any way of proving this with repeatable experiments and turn the concepts of stability, consistency and maturity into numbers? Can you provide the definition of program and show the game doesn't fulfill it with anything that is not a subjective opinion of yours?
because, you know, for every angry person like you there are thousands of enthusiastic players that are ready to swear that the game is stable, consistent and mature enough to be called 1.0
It's your word against their and nothing else.
with this I don't want to say I am defending the game or the way the developers work
so you don't scream shill at me, I'm just saying that you keep stating this is false advertising, but you never lift a finger to do something about it.
if you think you have a case, go ahead and sue them, there is a ton of money to be made if you succeed.
Space is fun
Kerbal is fun
Squad is fun
A lawsuit's only successful outcome is killing the enterprise, which is not my intention. It can still be saved, once the developers understand they are developing a false paradigm.
>not my intention
>The notion that in order to opt-in you strip yourself of all rights as a consumer is ludicrous and deserves to be challenged in open court.
you are either backpedaling on your ideas or you are simply trying to hide the fact that there is absolutely no case to be made and you have no chance at undermining said enterprise even if you wanted.
is it not your intention? cool, but can you prove anything I said in my previous post? because you know, that is like 1% of the questions that are going to be asked you if you ever try to sue anybody for the same reason.
I'll spare you the effort: you can't. there is no case, you have no possibility whatsoever of winning even if you really wanted to destroy squad.
What's so haram about the notion that the developers have been flaccidly swaying in the wind between sandbox and career and it's time for a new way of thinking?
Please provide scientific sources, bigfoot citations are acceptable.
/doc/ is kill, I move that discussion temporarily relocate here, all anons interested in saving discussions should pastebin them and link here or post summaries.
I'm okay with losing my section as it currently stands.
you need a dfferent link for it to be read only.
i can still write the title, but nothing under that.
i have the last pastebin made last monday after the deletions, nothing has changed since then (i think)
Can you imagine quitting your job to play a game?
>post yfw you're on a deep space mission and there's no abort procedure
Actually, there's still some air in space, so the props work perfectly fine
Anyways, why do people even use jets or rockets if they can just use props, the power of gods, and save tons of fuel and money in the process? Why didn't we just use B-29s to land on the moon?
thank you for referring to it properly. Blame the faggot in charge for the fact that there's no official documentation. Use this.
I suppose you meant resonant cavity thrusters?
First of all, do not refer to anything that comes from a reputable source as "garbage." That is not good science. If a source produces results that they cannot explain, that just means the phenomena behind the results hasn't been figured out. They could have made a mistake, or maybe there just may be unexplained shit. Either way the field of physics benefits. I think the older physicists dismiss it as nonsense since they think the current laws are set in stone, but younger physicists (like me) tend to think it is something we do not know.
As far as I know the engine does produce thrust. What makes the drive so confusing is that it appears to break Newton's third law. Perhaps we are measuring the force from the drive wrong, or perhaps there is something happening that we do not know. That is the exciting thing about science, you gotta figure out what the fuck is going on.
As far as I know no one has determined why it works, or why the experiment is an error yet. I could search a few academic databases right now but I'm too drunk to read research papers right now.
I wrote that after it was vandalized and I tried to put everything back on again.
I can't type anything that is not in the title box.
does it do the same to you? and if not, can you copy the doc back as it was using this patebin >>128785238?
I don't know if it's just a problem that I have or if everyone can't write anything anymore
Apparently the doc goes back to normal when you press F5 but it goes wrong again with all blank and your pissing sentence after 30s. I don't know why. I've managed to save it just in case but we need to fix this shit first.
It does the same to me with my phone, looks like it goes back to the first chached version you have in your browser, then it updates it with the current one, which is blank because of vandalism.
I only had the pastebin link, but not the actual word file saved on my pc, if you have a recent one (made after last monday), would you be so kind to screenshot the whole document so I can format it as it was before?
I can't remember everything and pastebin doesn't save highlights and shit so I am having an hard time restoring everything as it was
not him, but i suppose you have a recent copy of the doc, can you please screenshot it so I can see where the comments are and how stuff is formatted?
I'm working on it but I can't remember everything
You're both wrong. I didn't have anything to do with the administration and didn't delete the entire thing. I had my one section I kind of stopped maintaining but have continued to develop on the thread.
Yes, hullo. Would you like to
>You're both wrong. I didn't have anything to do with the administration and didn't delete the entire thing. I had my one section I kind of stopped maintaining but have continued to develop on the thread.
did you even fucking read what I asked?
That should do it. Tell me if you need me to upload the .doc file.
beware of the janitor's eye
ok I've found two links and the imgur image pic related:
ok you fuckers, I restored the doc on another link, which is read only to keep vandalism away.
I can't write anything anymore on the original doc link for some weird fucking reason, if some of you still can, please copy everything back from my link in the original link so people can still edit it, or make a new link or whatever.
this is the read only link
if someone wants to double check with me if everything is in there, be my guest.
keep this link as an added safety in case someone vandalizes everything again or make your own copy and create a new read only link.
so let me just get this right: do you still want to keep your very incomplete section of the doc or can I flag it for deletion it if you don't want to update it anymore? I don't want to vandalize your stuff, just to understand if you intend to fix your section or not
make a new doc, copy everything in there and share the new link (the full one, not the read only), we will use that one and scrap the current one that seems to be bugged
>make a new doc
did someone say
someone was opposed to it because of privacy.
I didn't have any problem with this one desu, it's very bugged when there is more than one person writing at the same time, but it works fine the rest of the time.
for anyone interested, you can make your own writeurl links without using the longass auto-generated ones.
the new link has to be made like this
>http://www.writeurl.com/text/[insert an id here]/[insert your read-only password here]/[insert your write password here]/new
you have to remove everything in the brackets (incvluding the brackets) and replace it with whatever you want as long as it is at least 3 characters long.
the /new tag is used only to create a new link, so it will disappear once you created one and should never be used again with already existing links.
in the case of the link I made:
-"kspg" is the id
-"readonly" is the read-only password
the write password is hidden in this case for obvious reasons, but you can use whatever you want.
the problem is the current doc is formatted for writeurl, with all the highlights and shit, if you can make an exact copy of the doc on that site without taking forever, then I'm ok with that, but i guess we are kinda committed to writeurl now that the doc has been edited to hell and back.
if we have to use a random site, we might aswell stick with writeurl or just go with google docs
just a note:
when you copy something from one doc to the other (say it has been vandalized again and you want to paste it back from another doc link), it loses all the bolding, underlining and listing commands, so you have to bold, underline and put list marks manually.
Also, headings are converted to normal text, so a 16 size text with heading H5 is converted to a 21.1 text with no heading. It actually looks the same so it's not that big of a deal, but it screws with lines spacing and other subtle shit so you should revert those to headings too if you can.
everything else (highlights, general layout, etc) is copied flawlessly
nice job anons
it would be nice if someone had something else to add to the doc, it has been lacking new content lately.
and about that, if this faggot over here >>128809528 had the brainpower to reply to this very simple fucking question >>128810134 without sperging about god knows what, I could try and tidy up the doc
>tfw when you go to play ksp but you miss and derive numerical integration methods for simulating orbiting bodies instead
feels horrible mane
>that one time Ivan thought he was going to get sued/cartel'd for running NDA'd expermental files
>last month all newspapers were printing stories about how excellent immigrants are and how culturally enriched we're becoming and how awful the government is for closing the borders
>women get raped during the new year's festivals
>a police cover up about raped women at a music festival is revealed
>now all newspapers are opposing the immigration and printing stories about how awful the government is for taking so long to close the borders
This is an unedited screenshot. All I did ingame was use planetshine to decrease the ambient brightness. Holy fuck.
If only the stock atmo shader was this semi-decent all the time
Not everybody is angry anon, Anon.
Angry anon was the faggot who started report spamming everything in here after 1.0 came out and went on a crusade against off topic discussion.
I don't think this situation applies to angry anon desu
>roughly 3 new versions a month for the past four years
>harddrive is a grotesque wasteland of forgotten versions, persistence saves, craft files and mods
>folder names range from optimistic anecdotes to angry outbursts to depressed chronological bookkeeping
>can't delete anything or I start losing access to past playthroughs
>none of it is really worth saving
I can make gifs easier than webms so its tiny precious little gifs for now.
As an anti-ontopic poster myself I apologize in advance. Just want to spruce up the ded in here a bit.
holy fuck, check'em:
About a year ago, /kspg/ had it's own asteroid mission.
While it looks like the links are dead now, originally the posts included SSTV images transmitted from our satellite that allowed us to see the asteroid.
Mission highlights include firing a Spurdo at an asteroid.
They didnt have the updated environmental impact studies for vandenburg, nor was the landing pad ready. And they want to practice barge landings, although this mission has the performance required to boostback / RTLS, it was either barge or no landing at all for this one.
Fun fact: It takes 9 S3 KS-25x4 "Mammoth" Liquid Fuel Engines to achieve the same thrust as the Saturn V's first stage.
Friendly reminder of the best OC /kspg/ produced last year.
one of the legs broke during flight so it tipped over on the boat
the launch was really cloudy so you couldnt see much
here's a cap i got from the laucnh
apparently this was supposed to be the last falcon 9 v 1.1 launch so it's not too bad that it broke
