Steel Ocean is a multiplayer arcade game focused about warships from World War 2 era.

"NA clan: No Botes Allowed"
We have running clan in the game. Find it on the fleet page and then click application button. Post IGN in thread to get accepted.
Kantai Collection posting allowed.
Feel free to talk about botes here.
B E S T B O T E
Fifth for Cute Russian Destroyer playable when?!
Also, Wednesday is the Steel Ocean 'day off' from events.
she's shit as a girl, pretty nice as a bote
>going over the previous threads for Data Acquisition towards a F.A.Q.
>Find at least one person 'I came here because the cute OP pic"
Wonder how many others that was true for, and simply didn't type it.
Show me your arsenal for boteing under influence.
Not today. Also fuck you for trying to torp me.
Give me a second to calm down from the subhuman DDs that rush into the enemies guns just to get nuked and the braidead BBs that sit in our cap and get slowly picked one by one.
How active do I have to be for this shit?
Is it dedder than /stog/ or is it somewhere at final kat waifu xiv levels?
It was a good day in Steel Ocean
What's stog? It's hard to compare this to a MMORPG too, in every sense.
There's no "endgame", you can play a T10 match and then play a T1 game if you want.
Also, forma fleet battles you need a T4 ship, that can be obtained after a couple of hours.
Scroll those medals m8!
RJ > Indy
Star Trek Online General. Hasn't been on 4chan in ages, but there's always a couple online, except when there's actually stuff to do with the game.
ig name is Ouzbel if you take hardcore casual fedoras.
There's always people loged in the fleet, and you can find games at any hours. For certain events we all go to recieve shekels or fame, thus the general goes ded.
Apply for the fleet, look at the OP to check how, SMD is always lurking for dank memes so he'll add you sooner or later.
>if you take hardcore casual fedoras.
Senpai we take all our brother memers and put enough faith in them that we bring people with less than 50 matches played to fleet battles, the place where every fleet brings their tryhardest cunts. And the bastards that joined us hours ago still do their absolute best and and put a big fat dent on them. Even when outnumbered and against a top 5 fleet we still make them work if they want to win. Just ask in the fleet chat for groups or tips and you'll get some help.
What botes do you play?
Just started today, but I'm looking at going subs. Picked up some basic ships so I can get the captains to help me go fast. At low level pugging, it's an exercise in frustration. Less guns, less torpedoes, and not really useful in the small maps. Hopefully it gets better later on. Using the Type O currently, and I'm close to getting the Type S.
Stay with me /sog/. Don't die yet.
Know the pain of being a CVck.
Feels so damn good literally shitting on higher tier CVs.
> that plane kill count
I shut him down so hard he only had one TB run (which almost killed me :V).
I'm happy with the Type S. I can actually turn.
Needs in the OP. Free Tier V Battleship.
i'd brag for shitting on a higher tier cv in a 3v3 but he was IJN..
It worked for me. Got the only kill in the match for the team, too.
Satan confirms the return of the repulse.
It's kinda hard to know if it was still aviable or not because everybody grabbed as soon as they could, good find there anon. The reppu is a pretty good moneymaker and can help with crew training right off the bat.
It's not showing in the available DLC downloads, but if you followed the link that's still up and posted by the devs in the steam forum, you can get it. My guess is lazy chink programming thinking removing it from the dlc list is good enough.
I fucking love this bote with the quickload Nazi.
Rude, don't bully the dragons!
They're so fluffy.
Why the fuck would anyone use IJN DBs anyway? Literally the only good thing about them are their TBs. Which makes me wonder if high tier IJN might still be a thing for our "dumb" alphastrike attempts.
Dumb because we are pretty inconsistent at it.
Anyway, goodnight /sog/.
There's 2 ways of playing them. You can play spotter or you can torp the shit out of them. Torping takes practice
and some sufferingbut it can make you carry pub games.
Use 1 spotter or 2, never a full squadron to lead your TBs towards the enemy. TBs need 1.5s to dive before they can drop the torps, so keep that in mind when you aim or they'll do infinite turns.
low tier BBs cant aim for shit, so they're pretty unreliable
Do you have any questions about the game?
Also maintenance begins in about 2 hours and 40 minutes for Steel Ocean if my thinking is right. 2 AM PST translates into 5 AM EST.
Its in game as a spammed announcement. Thats where I learned of it.
They will just do the maintenance as before while usually giving a set of 30->15->5 minute warnings.
Not a single repeated ship in this game.
M-Class doesn't count.
I feel like the more damage I do with a BB, the less XP I get.
Got 400 xp out of a T6 just now, just what the fuck. There are DDs who kamikaze at the start and get more XP than me.
Oh, I thought you meant one of the guys that gives 10% reload for 45 seconds when an enemy is spotted. The 355 active requires the captain slot doesn't it? I can't give up Not Char - his active and passive (which requires him in captain slot for whatever reason) are too good to pass up. Warning me when I'm spotted is great for DDs and CLs
Different anon here
I gave up on that being spotted indication skill because there are many better options for the captain skill. You'll learn when you're spotted just by judging the distance between you and X type of the bote. Next step from that is you playing the cards to decide when you'll want to be spotted and dictating how the game will go.
Otto gives a -45 percent reduction btw. This with the reload equipment brings it down to -55 percent when active. Also the passive abilities of your captain in the gunner slot decreases this even more.
When you reach a t5 BB you get Alan Macklemore with his newest album on heavy bomb drops.
Really, the British dude is great at 4 stars as he gives nice passives but, his largest buff is 10 percent more main cannon damage when in your gunner slot at 4 stars.
Still, the speed and bonuses to steering and acceleration are great. Plus that ability is much more handy in higher tier matches where you may be the only DD spotting for your team in a 5v5.
>implying I see them before they see and start tracking me
Again, I've been alerted to DDs (especially DJfags) who see me way before I noticed them - even while I'm rocking spotting equipment and a spotting crewmember
TVI is where a lot of previously "OK" tactics go out the window. Normally in the lower tiers there are enough DDs where having one or two going full force into the enemy is fine. They spot them for you, and possibly take out a BB before they are ripped apart. In the higher tiers there are normally just 1 DD on each team, or 2 if you are very lucky.
Basically the way it's been playing out with the groups im in - the game is determined by who dunks the other teams DD first. Here, A good DD player is defined less by their ability to torp a BB or two after being spotted, and more by avoiding that spot - and being evasive while still maintaining visual on the enemy.
Again this is why I think Kaspar Mass is super valuable - there are some DDs that WILL outspot you, and giving a notice on when you are spotted in these higher tiers is a life saver.
Do we know if multiple bonuses from the same effect stack? Meaning if I have State of War (+10% reload on enemy spot) on three guys, does it give +30%, or only the +10% for that particular ability?
>Basically the way it's been playing out with the groups im in - the game is determined by who dunks the other teams DD first. Every, EVERY, DD I've had this night has gone kamikaze dying in less than a minute leaving us 2 BBs vs 1DD 2BBs or some shit like that. How come after so MANY hours of playing, still can't think shit so easy to understand like "hey, if I die my team will surelly lose so I'll try my best to not die while doing my job."
FUCK EVERYTHING IM FUCKING MAD AS HELL
I've actually platooned with a DJ fag before. The guy had a 60ish winrate. He was in his t5 DD and spotted a BB from halfway across the map. Considering the BB was firing and actively moving this would make sense. Some quick napkin guesstimating I would say that these DJ guys are running MAXIMUM SPOT and this was also a small map. As in, every single captain is dedicated to spotting, they have every scouting upgrade captain at 4-5 stars.
These guys are serious and have spent hundreds if not thousands of dollars into the captain gacha system to get what they need.
They are additive afaik and stack. Every other skill in game stacks, why wouldn't this one?
If you want to win, you need good CVs and good DDs in tiers 5+. They are the game changers. CA/CL/SS/BB are just filler and DPS support.
>If you want to win
That's the thing. I don't care about winning, I want to have good matches, matches with equally competent people. Games where I can say from my hearth "good game".
Instead I get allahu akbar enjoy your outnumbered/imbalanced match.
In the end is playing in my head.
>I want to have good matches
Thats called winning.
>Matches with equally competent people
You will never have that with pubs, this is what Fleet Battles are for. You get exp/credits for FBs as well.
>Games where I can say from my hearth "good game".
Again, fleet battles. Pubs are used for grinding. Fleet Battles are for fun organized play and where everyone gives it their all.
Play with a fleet. Seriously, even just dropping with two other guys working together will do wonders. I don't even get in mumble (outside of actual fleet battles) and the difference is still night and day.
>Nah, I'm the kind of guy who can have fun with winnings and loses if they are good/close matches. Easy wins or defeats get in my nerves.
Then we are of two different mentalities. I have a staunch hatred of losing. Even more so when the incompetence of my team hinders my chances. I play to win and grind the enemy down the down, one or another.
I refuse to accept that I lose because of MM. If I lose, its because I messed up somewhere. There are times where I do everything I can but my team just loves to throw themselves against the enemy and die, leaving me alone to die against a horde of enemy ships.
One thing I like about SO is that lack of "what the fuck happened?! How did I die? How did that kill me?!"
When I die, 98% of the time it's a mistake a made - I mistake I realized as I was making it and was unable to recover from. There is a surprising lack of bullshit in this game.
It also may be why WoWs players don't like this game as much. There is nothing to hide behind.
>In a better fleet
Are you having a fucking giggle. Which fleet.
I tried WoWS when it first came out. Pumped about 20 hours into it and got bored. I was hesitant to pick up SO because I figured it was more of the same but it really grew on me.
But yeah, I do remember to dying way too often in WoWS due to some stupid bullshit.
>hardcore casual fedoras
A better 3 word description of us, I have not seen...
I wont be on till morning, but first thing 6-7 hours from now, you'll be in
(or sooner if Tech's on)
>reading through thread
I would recommend trying each nations T3 sub before settling in 'for the long haul' as each offers a different feature (German for tiny with decent torps, U.S. for tiny, with the most rear torps. Japan for WELL FED SUBMARINES that can ram tiny Ger/Us subs and laugh, shrugging them off as they sink to the bottom. They can also ram DD's, and I have lifted one out of the water once.)
I say T3 as that is the sub tier allowed into FB's (2-3)
Ho ho! Good to know about the repulse!
That she is!
>Being a GOON
Good job capping against Dark Judge though, shit was hilarious as they changed their comp to counter you just rushing. We just used a sub to kill their point defense Atlanta while we slaughtered the rest of them. You guys get your asses handed to us in FBs.
our problem is that a lot of our more experienced guys are leaving. We still have some good cat herders but a good portion of the guys filling our fleet battles now are newer. We've lost too many vets.
Still, activity is up - so can't really complain
Vets go to high tiers and got tired of playing against Dark Judge I'm guessing. I'm not even with NBA, I just peruse this general and dispense advice.
I play now to just farm salt and wins to sustain my will to play.
The Laforey is overpowered as shit. Its an M-class DD with tier 7+ firepower. The base hull is already strong, but the premium upgrade just makes it too strong.
/blogwhat events are today? 5v5?
8 am, haven't sleep, going for uni now, coming back in 4-5 hours, maybe to play botes for the next 18 hours,
Like I said T6 is a tryhard zone where everyone tries to score as much damage as possible, so they can dickwave later.
Expect the biggest faggotry there.
Welcome to the meme factory Admiral
>in the navy for six years
>studied naval power doctrine in grad school
>figure i'll check out this thread and see if the game is cool
>knife fighting with another turboslut at full speed
>https://youtu.be/2vVw-5qyWEs starts playing
My dick wasnt prepared for this
I forgot to buy camo and flags for her but still won by a margin. He left me with 300hp and probably his last salvo would rekt me if he didnt missed.
>fighting against T6
all thoose juicy penetrations god damn
>5 T9's in queue
>4 of them are russians
>4 of them are Darkfags
No idea what to play today
They shekeled everything they could when NA server launched to think they can club.
All of them are using gold shells, camo jewed their way to get maximum spotting and still in 1v1 situation they play like total shit. I mean how the fuck you loose to a 2v1 knifefight
with me still not running paint and flags holy shit
I guess everyone made fun of them at china server so they decided to "be" bullies here
Well yeah, this also shows in fleet battles. They have superior organization and ranks. But in actual battle once the variables change, they can't adapt and they get smashed. They are good at copying and abusing the system, but against actual innovation and skill they fall on their face.
>All of them are using gold shells, camo jewed their way to get maximum spotting and still in 1v1 situation they play like total shit.
This is really noticeable in KTKM mode, every single time I see a DJ KTKM, I'm a guaranteed ez win. They won't even fan torps and force boats to dodge, they'll just sail and try to point blank torp and they also get kited around REALLY easily.
Goes for Chinese players in just about any game. Their competence is a myth, they are just very good at naturally organizing themselves, which is enough for pub stomping. I've taken judges mano-a-mano and won almost every time. They have no tactical flexibility and the average judge isn't that much more skilled than your typical pubbie.
literally their only tactic is have one/two DDs that do nothing but spam gold smoke, one BB and two/three CA with firehose skill.
They spot one poor sod and start shooting him at once if he fights back/ tries to get their spotter through a cloud of semen. they just swarm him with scout planes. Rinse and repeat.
No wonder they stick to tier 6 only.
And if they lose their DDs, they fall apart. This is why CVs are important, you can just drown them in planes so they can't escape and you can kill those fucking DDs.
front is rough, will have to most likley change the whole thing there
also windows didnt work, will fix that in a second
body, windows, etc are separate files and you gotta name all of that correctly which differs from car to car. for now the game reads the windows file just as a diffrent texture
>Baking, fan-girls, bote sluts, chinese jewing, Goons, /vg/, "Why don't you play WoWs",painting, uni discussion, life skills, Mongolian chicken trading, real world ww2 discussion, historical clips, BURNING LOVE, which shipfu wud u fug
You make us sound comfy as fuck.
SEND THEM BACK WHERE THEY CAME FROM.
>first battle with my tier VII bote
>dark judges on both teams
Thankfully the spy dice roll landed on the opposing team and we won with a perfect round. Doesn't really raise my hopes on tier VII grind though.
Actually, your team got cornered really hard and it became really easy for us to get torps and shells in.
Also, try to be a bit more wary of torps, I saw you eating a few that could have been dodged.
I am the controller of memes.
oh hey, fixed
now to fix the rough parts, change some things that don't really fit and some sponsors plus numberplates
and the rest of the sisters on the car
I don't know, I'm really tired to think about it.
>50 percent winrate shitter with less than 80 games tries to act like hes better than you
>cornered rat CA tries to bum rush to melee range in between your reload cycle
>*based otto von autoloader*
Denied by the most based of the based BB captains.
What the fuck did you just fucking say about me, you little bitch? I'll have you know I graduated top of my class CVck Academy, and I've been involved in numerous secret raids on BAD Lobsters, and I have over 300 confirmed Dark Judge kills. I am trained in navel warfare and I'm the top CVck in the entire game. You are nothing to me but just another target. I will wipe you the fuck out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before on this Earth, mark my fucking words. You think you can get away with saying that shit to me over the Internet? Think again, fucker. As we speak I am contacting my secret network of DDs across the oceans and your IP is being traced right now so you better prepare for the storm, maggot. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your life. You're fucking dead, kid. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can kill you in over seven hundred ways, and that's just with dive bombers. Not only am I extensively trained in navel combat, but I have access to the entire tech tree of the United States Navy and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable ass off the face of the continent, you little shit. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little "clever" comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your fucking tongue. But you couldn't, you didn't, and now you're paying the price, you goddamn idiot. I will shit fury all over you and you will drown in it. You're fucking dead, kiddo.
>getting triggered by memester so easily
Beautiful. Thank you.
Incompetent little shits piss me off.
You gave me the idea with the 300 dark judge kills, shitters gonna shit.
The perfect appearance for a steersman.
Though yours has an entertaining
As if to prove the DJ conversation from earlier, I got into a tier VI-VII game with a lone judge on my team in Tone. He played like a complete shitter, ran after a lone DD into the crossfire and died without even managing to kill it. These guys are a fucking joke.
>out of all thoose targets enemy still chooses me
Was asking mostly as to what the best method is/how everyone else did it.
When we played them last Saturday (the match they got reported for cheating in, btw) we lost 3 to their alpha strike but then their formation went nuts once our DD sailed in to their edge and our BBs/planes smashed them. Was a suprisingly close fight, especially considering they were actively cheating.
I acctually recommended crossing the T today, but the context was entirely different I would assume.
>not posting superior Takao
>mfw when I have 4 TB squadrons in the air at once as a Midway or Essex
1 DD, one CL, one CV. We can take on anything at this point.
Also we scared everyone off. =(
I thought you were using the CL Mogami and not the 203s.
Also to anons. Guess the result.
Techno don't spoil it.
I've been feeling pretty empty lately and I think I'm longing for something cozy to play before the February exam session.
Is this game cozy, /sog/?
Good night Techno, hope you had fun m8.
Also, this is what happens when you have your best facing Dark Judge's best.
EMBARRASSING LOSSES ALL AROUND FOR THEM.
ZERO FUCKING DAMAGE FOR 3/4 OF THEIR TEAM.
EAT IT YA CHINK CUNTS.
Yeah it is. Even more so if you play with your fellow Admirals in No Botes Allowed. We meme with each other and like to win. Grab a cup of coffee and sit at the helm of your ship as you win with good anons.
Just as a warning, if you've played World of Warships, this game will throw you off. The graphics aren't the best, but it is a much more skill based game in comparison.
You need to apply to No Botes Allowed in game with a minimum tier 2 ship if I remember correctly. Then once you do that, post your IGN here so we can separate you from the chaff. NBA still gets applications from randoms.
If you have any questions, please feel free to post here or ask in the fleet. We have members active of any timezone, but sometimes we simply don't have people.
You can consider /sog/ a second home. Its our comfy general in which we've built up.
Apparently you can still get the free tier 5 Premium BB.
launch the game via: http://store.steampowered.com/app/430110/?snr=1_5_1100__1100
claim via bottom right gift box, go to storage>Non Battle Items and then click 'use'
You're welcome. Did it help at all or clear any confusion?
Never really liked World of games
(to satisfy my tank/plane thirst I played War Thunder), bad graphics don't put me off either.
First question though, are there any major differences in the ships of different nationalities?
I'm glad then. I posted it in the very first thread when we were still struggling to even unite.
What did have in mind as a class?
>http://imgur.com/a/Mf0qp <-- Link in the OP.
Is this sufficient?
Or will this work?
I'm not sure what classes are there, but I'd be mostly interested in submarines (if they're even in the game and at least moderately viable) or cruisers of some sort.
or perhaps this.
Submarines are in fact in game! They are in fact viable! But they require loads of patience and a shit ton of planning and forethought.
IJN-> Largest Subs, due to how ramming mechanics work, can often surface and ram enemy DDs to kill them. All IJN subs at a certain point are CVs.
American subs - Much smaller with rear torpedo tubes, middle of the road afaik.
German subs - Even smaller and slower, but much more agile. maneuverability is king when you are dodging TBs and torpedos by a hair's breadth.
IJN - Middle of the road, torpedos and decent guns, not so much good armor.
US - Amazing guns and amazing AA, no torpedos though. They can brawl with other cruisers, but don't expect them to last in a fight against BBs except when plinking them to death.
Germans- Meh cruiser line, the Konigsberg t5 is decent. The tier 10 German CA is probably the best tier 10 CA in game stats wise.
What you can do is click the barracks button, click gallery and the little box that says "show unobtained." Then just select your options for two stars and match them up.
Dam con level 2! All teams to stations!
UGH! WE'RE SWAMPED, REPAIR THE BULKHEAD.
fixed. Had taken two screenshots, apparently uploaded the wrong (slightly cropped) one.
otherwise all commanders can be seen in the barracks 'gallery'
Thanks for correcting it. I personally saved it as well so when we have an anon ask, I can just post it.
5v5s are in 1 hour and 40 minutes. Or about that. I'm tired and going to go to bed now. Goodnight /sog/ and goodluck. I will talk with you tomorrow.
Apparently you can still get the T5 Battleship Repulse via the above link.
Pretty great Battleship for Overlord matches, prints credits wonderfully. (Also starts with quick training for 120% commander gains, IN ADDITION to the normal xp/credit boost from being a premium ship.) Also rewards Otto van Autoloader the Commander normally awarded once you reach T5 (One of the best for gun based ships.)
launch the game via ^ link, gift box bottom right 'claim' and then storage, non battle items, click and 'use' to apply it. (if sold in storage rewards 1 silver.)
She's Flooding fast Captain!!!
I think you're right, though the whole reserved demeanour adds to it I think.
Have one more for good luck.
KEEP THE MEME ALIVE
I rented the Double Dragon SNES games so many times...
>Watch as two of your three carriers in a match with 3 per side are afk.
>tell the CV who camped in the top left corner before going afk to 'RUN OR DIE!!!'
>He sits for 3-5 minutes doing nothing.
>Comes back just in time to hit reverse the moment they touch our cap and the alarm blares.
>HE STOPS reversing which would have dodged torps.. to go forward, thus remaining in them.
THESE IDIOTS ONLY OCCUR ON MY TEAM!
Running a low fever and JUST wanna finish my daily wins bls.
oh, should have said so. signing back on. lets nuke some normies quick.
Normies nuked, wins secured, now go warm up, sleep and heal!
2.5K xp until spats!
Also I just found out the Indy has a 2nd tier of upgrades.
Flat is still best!
Good night Admirals of /sog/
See you lot tomorrow.
Overlord tomorrow (Friday) 6-8pm Pacific. Bring your chosen T5 DD/BB/CL/CA and print hundreds of thousands of sheckles in a two hour period.
They are a straight upgrade over the tier VI it's based on - instead of a sidegrade. This isn't helped by it being a cash ship
and people are salty because they missed the recent sale on it
Mechanically it has as tier VIII guns (200+ damage x 2x3) very nice turret placement and two centered racks of torpedoes. It's pretty much everything you could ask for in a DD.
All this on a tier VI ship
Also goes about 36 knots, moderate resiliance (compared to low-res jap DDs) and four DCs - two of which launch from the sides of the ship and often can catch subs by surprise who aren't used to it. The durability is pretty normal but I've survived some dumb shit in mine and still came through so I dunno about that.
Only real weakness is it's one AA turret, and good luck shooting down much with that thing.
They're better, but not by enough that good play won't beat them. If a player is really good, then they can dunk you in an Asashio/M-Class as well as they can in a Laforey.
I think it's pretty funny that there are also prem ships that are completely pointless like the Yugumo or Tirpitz
I worry about it too, but there's still hope.
The problem with these guys is we don't know what their business model is, WG are a known quality and we know they'll sometimes cross the line but never dance over it too hard. With the chinese, they may pull back the OP premiums, they may keep releasing them. Hopefully they listen to feedback but yeah..
If a player is really good they can dunk you with mutsuki, doesn't mean that mutsuki isn't a tier 2 ship. That's a pointless argument..
Huh? Today's "functionary day" (dunno if that's the correct translation) in my uni, so all activities are suspended, might be something universal perhaps, or you just had bad luck?
Classes are canceled Monday for me as well Techno.
>Try out Bagley because I want to play the Porter and stop there
>US Pacific fleet guy sees me
>TKs me 30 seconds in the match
>I type out in all chat, "what the actual fuck"
>He responds "just saving us the trouble"
>Everyone immediately responds and starts shooting him, the sub getting the killing blow
>One of the players who attacked him says in team chat "he good player"
Not much anon, just playin botes and other games.
I want to see her bulk heads start leaking.
No ones online, what should I spend my gold on from the growth plan. I'm about to get enough to buy the Terpitz, and I was thinking a gold boat in general would be good for grinding silver and research rather than VIP, since it's permanent.
As someone who actually plays high tiers, I highly suggest you invest your gold in port slots or lower tier premiums. High tiers are brutal on newbies and will drive them away.
Get something like the Ise BBV or Oyodo, or Brooklyn. Or the t7 Chinese DD if you must get a premium. Otherwise, get port slots and just do the slow grind to the top.
Or, if you have enough port slots and don't want to buy a premium, use your gold to buy commanders. It can give you a minor headstart but will require a large amount of gold if you want to get the best.
No way. This is a troll, right?
If you weren't, that'd be an interesting mechanic which might be worth it for fighters but not for TBs, imo.
But in FBs I've never felt outclassed by Indys.
inb4 > because not MY Indy :^) (which is fair)
Actually it is a flat upgrade.
If you look at the damage the 3 TBs do. They do only 7 less damage than 4 torpedos hitting. The 3 TBs are faster and tougher.
Its literally a straight upgrade.
Lets see, get at least 10-15 port slots. In this game you will have a couple ships that you just fall in love with. You should keep these and enjoy playing them.
You wont be facing MY indy, mine and my friends in them as well.
I've just returned from
I'm a shitter who needs wider torp spreads because I 2nd guess myself too hard.
I should trust my instincts more, yesterday I got 4 good torp runs in a row during 5v5s and we completely shat on the survivors. DOUBLE DRAGON
The thing is, meta wise its also more powerful.
Since the flight deck capacity of Indy is 6 plens. This means you can get 2 full TB squadrons and get a scout/fighter much easier right after. In the time it would take you to launch 2 full TB 4 man squadrons and a 2 man scout, I would already have a fully airwing in the air and on the way. It shaves easily 10+ seconds or more.
I just mentioned it to keep the thread alive but since you asked, I
went on a datewith my gf.
Sorry if you needed my BB skills in the 5v5s
pls dont REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE me out of the fleet.
Also forgot to include the Yodo.
Damn, that's a good point. I guess I'll work on maxing out my Indy instead of getting the Ranger. I want a proper feel for USN CVs before I commit.
Feels good to have CVbros to discuss shit with.
Maxing out the indy isn't a bad idea. The Ranger and Wasp are clubbing bats covered in blood.
Forgot to add, yeah it does feel good being to help newer CV captains at the game. They were shunned and down talked at every turn in WoWs, here they are crucial and more people can play them.
Get in the game, bote mans.
I have no idea what you're talking about with the Mutsuki.
Laforey is better than the M-class in most ways, but not markedly better. Its tier 8 guns only do 7 more damage than the tier 8 guns available on the M-class just for example.
The biggest difference setting different tier destroyers apart is hp and guns imo. Starting at tier 5, every tier step starts giving 1000+ more durability and ~100 more gun damage. You have to outplay a high tier destroyer for a longer time, and you can make less mistakes.
Fighting a Laforey though, is roughly the same as fighting an M-class. Because there is no such thing as "perfect play" itg you can beat any other equivalent ship in a regular match. so long as the matchup is truly lopsided (ie Mahan vs Fubuki)
Basically, I'm saying that I can beat any random shitter that tries to wallet warrior in a Laforey, but redbear can kick my ass in a reggo M-class.
>HomuraWasRight on the opposing team
>see him getting torped by his own teammate
>HomuraWasRight on the opposing team
fucking shitter DDs
why can't they understand that when someone is knifefighting don't shoot a fucking torpedo
They will always be retarded. High tiers are filled with someone competent people.
Then post bote butt or bote discussion.
I'm gonna do mine on Monday since I have that off.
Now if you'll excuse me...
What are you talking about? I get this monday off because its a Holiday.
Its Black Diplomatic Man of peace day.
Techno goes to uni. Hes a SEAman. You don't know about Black Diplomatic man of Peace day?
Techno pls, don't hurt yourself.
>You don't know about Black Diplomatic man of Peace day?
I'm no burger, sorry. And since my uni give us vacations from december to march (except this year) I'm not used with this months holidays.
Just to add in another opinion.
I agree with not buying a high tier premium just yet. The playerbase has not yet caught up sufficiently to make it worth it in my opinion.
And that is also part of the reason for so much Q_Q about the Laforey, and ISE BBV. A. they were 'the new thing' and on sale.
B. the playerbase has finally caught up to that tier range of ships, so that (to them) is all they are seeing to judge premium ships off of. Well, also the Repulse but since everybody has one it is judged differently. Also a very fun glass cannon that most people cannot use properly. (or even apply to their own accounts properly, as shown via picture.)
>Black Diplomatic Man of peace day
Its a day of celebration here in Burger land when a black man was able to talk and be peaceful and ushered in somewhat peaceful race relations. Though every major black leader after him has pretty much ruined everything hes worked for, so at least we get a holiday.
>Man of Peace
I'm going to restrain myself from going full /pol/ but dude that's completely wrong. Hes been probably one of the worst presidents we've had and has ushered and promoted more violent violence than the last two. Frankly at this point he needs to be convicted of treason and most of the people he associates with.
What in my post implied I was talking about Obama?
For a moment I had a complete mind loop and thought you were implying Obama. My bad. Why the fuck was he even given a nobel peace prize.
What, you no like the many reality TV series events occurring across America during his glorious reign?
Where were you when: "Seasons Greetings"?
"for his ideas" was the reason behind him getting a million dollars per year for the rest of his life, and his kids lives once he dies.
IE: He read from a teleprompter very well during his initial campaign (But if you look at the debates/discussions when he wasn't able to use one... it is embaressing.)
man of Peace =/= Nobel Peace Prize in the first place.
>all thoose DJs fags on the linst
the bully is re-
I'm mildly optimistic about Trump. I just want the madness to end or at least for things to start looking differently.
Doesn't it take a committee of a bunch of Yuropeans and Asians to make this decision.
>Doesn't it take
Anon, I'm not a native english speaker, but I think that's not well written, and following the conversation I really think you should take some rest, pat the head of a cat or something.
Take a cute anime girl pic.
Please remember to discuss boats too.
>Doesn't it take
>Does not it take
Not the best written, but it is correct language. I would rest but I've got a Pathfinder game in a bit and then ovahlord event.
Well what do you want to discuss? I've answered pretty much every question in the thread.
It's just a reminder.
That way we don't give the hot pocket eater a reason to kill the thread because "it's not on topic" or something and we lose our boating heaven.
But if you want, how different is the sonar mechanic from regular spotting/radar? besides the "pings" sent out after a set interval.
Sonar works like radar. With DDs and CLs having the best sonar in game, period. Battleships and CVs won't even be able to detect slow moving or stationary subs when they are firing torpedos at sub 2km ranges.
Sonar works like radar in the fact that speed influences how you are detected, depth decreases your detection chances as well.
For example, right under the water while moving at 1/2 or 1/4 speed will have you being very sneaky that a DD that closes within 1.5km will be able to detect. If you are stopped, you are very hard to detect, but very vulnerable.
At deepest depths, you are nigh undetectable unless spotted before. If you stop moving, you are almost invisible unless DDs until about 1/10 of a kilometer. You can test this out in the training room.
This is why well played submarines are so dangerous, because they can get into position and literally disappear without a trace. Give them an oxygenator and they could probably stay down there for half the game.
Sub + teammates providing spottiing data so they know when to dive and disappear. = good
Sub + YOLOderp = bad
Most of the population falls into this category, being too impatient or just not good enough to use a submarine to its strengths.
Does that answer your question or clarify anything?
Pretty much. But considering how dangerous subs can be, its not wasted.
I also want to add something as a BB player.
Deepest depths reduce radio range too. I've seen friendly subs dissapear and reappear in my map while in radio range and the only possible cause of that is deepest depths.
Questions for carriers in this game.
Do the aircraft get any better when it comes to survivability vs enemy AA?
The aircraft from my Argus just evaporate in mid-air anywhere within 2km range of anything and everytime I play against CVs on tiers III-IV I pretty much one shot their planes.
Is it worth grinding through this shit?
it gets better, but enemy AA increases to match, so you only really notice it if you're overtiered
You're supposed to know what you want to strike and drop the torps as soon as they start firing, not loiter around.
I'm glad I could be of help then. Please feel free to post any other questions you may have.
>Do the aircraft get any better when it comes to survivability vs enemy AA?
Yes and no, you get more HP on your planes, but enemy AA scales as well.
>The aircraft from my Argus just evaporate in mid-air anywhere within 2km range of anything and everytime I play against CVs on tiers III-IV I pretty much one shot their planes.
This is going to happen at all tiers. Your single squadrons can and will evaporate against focused AA. This is why you send multiple squadrons at once.
This is balanced also for the fact that a single TB squadron can either 1 shot or cripple anything in game.
Also tier 3 planes are shit, it gets better at t4 and up.
>Is it worth grinding through this shit?
Well you picked the British line. In terms of power its.
TBs - IJN>RN>US
US planes are the toughest and fastest in game. British planes are the middle of the road between the 3 nations. IJN CVs are the cheapest and have the worst planes, but highest damaging torpedos.
You get what you pay for essentially. All 3 lines have different exp and credit costs.
If you want to play CVs seriously, I suggest swapping to US or staying RN.
Pretty much this. You cannot loiter planes around or expect them to survive. They are tiny and flimsy scraps of metal. Don't expect them to survive 76mm->100mm AA fire or bofors.
And subsequently get shot down.
>Doesn't it take
It does seem like a poorly chosen way of putting things, but it IS borderline acceptable.
Does it not take a committee? = okay
(Doesn't) Does not it take a committee? = okay, but sounds odd/off.
On the topic of subs. Some of my best games in them were in matches where I Disconnected at the start and joined in 2-3 minutes later..
and thinking on it a bit more.. it was because by that point, odds are most of the front lines have been spotted and you have a general idea of where to move without YOLO!! or meeting the front lines head on like one does in the initial few minutes.
So as a sub with randoms, set a course and take it slow.. letting others enter the frenzy that occurs at the middle lines. Then slip through where an opening appears and enjoy!
>IJN are the cheapest and have the worst planes
eh.. They have the least amount of hitpoints, relying instead on passive mitigation (dodge) to survive barrages.
comparison of T3,5,10 planes.
At T10 IJN TB's have 22% dodge, Brits have 13% and US have 10%
Meanwhile IJN has 171 hp, Brits 192 and US 221.
With a commander with 147 BP(CP) in the gunner seat, you gain +58.79% dodge
22(dodge) + 12.93(58.79%) = 34.93% so 1 in 3 shots could miss.
OR if additive (like most skills are, I believe?)
22 + 58.79% = 80.79% 1 in 5 shots might hit.
and that's before any actual passives applied from commanders.
I want to reply to this correctly, but I'm currently in testing and theory craft. Things are not as they seem though with stats. I will just say that.
To be honest I'm not going to give out much more info at higher tiers as this info is a cooperative operation that I'm doing with several other high tier CV captains in DIIN.
I'm not willing to part with this game info because of the fact that its going to be used in our strategy in fleet battles.
not able to get online right now to check precise numbers..
But the thing is.. against the Anshan which sticks in my mind, with AA relatively equivalent to T8-9ish
it has 4 AA spitting out 50-55 rounds a minute per gun.. each shell could deal as much as 174(or 147?) damage per shell.
Meaning if it IS 174, and connected for full damage, goodbye IJN plane. Where-as the american or british planes would need at least two full damage shells to wipeout.
And I have no real idea how AA damage works as far as 'full damage vs partial'
And I do not have a T8-10 CV for actual comparisons.. just pure theory crafting as if the numbers truly are as shown.
Totally understand that lol..
Numbers in this game are definitely 'interesting'.
I wish they just made IJN cost more and the stats difference less pronounced.
It's one thing for each navy have a weakness and strength, but when you have 5 weaknesses for 1 strength, you basically made an entire series of ships nonviable on top of shitting on people who didn't spreadsheet from the start.
Disclaimer: I'd rather argue to make things better for the casuals since they keep games alive, instead of argue for tryhards. They'd be tryharding regardless of the conditions.
Is this just related to dodge stats? The only reason I haven't made a 100% switch to USN is because I thought IJN might still be useful in specific multi-CV strats.
NBA can test independently but some tips would be appreciated.
the argument "ijn costs less therefore its weaker" is silly; it implies anyone would ever choose to play a seriously gimped hightier ship just to skip 5% of the grind
Chinks hate japan/suck at balancing/we're not realizing something are all more plausible reasons than "but you see, you save 50k!"
Ise has superior firepower at the cost of paper armor is a fine tradeoff. Hiryu is just a worse Wasp so it can cost 1/3 of the price is silly, this isn't starcraft where you can use the savings to send three hiryus against every wasp.
my point is that that being an actual rule is less plausible than plain "there's some aspect we're overlooking". If it is in fact the justification of the dev, that means they either suck at balancing or hate japan or both (same applies to british vs usn).
>Things are not as they seem though with stats
I'm leaving it at that.
Have fun with the overlord event.
Its almost 9 PM. I'm waiting on this skype call to end. I also have over 4 million shekels spare. I can literally buy anything I want or need in game
>Come here to see what's up
