So I'm playing p4a and there's something I'm confused about. Are all the character stories "what if" scenarios? Since if I play as say, Naoto, I defeat Yu and he gets stuck. While in Yu's story he doesn't. Or is this all explained later on? If so, pls don't spoil.

Obviously things that touch upon what happened to other characters before shit started to happen and what led to the events are also canon, so it's a mix of everything. Same with Ultimax, even though P4 side is canon and the only one with True End, beginning and ending of P3 and Adachi's story mode are canon too.
Arena manga follows Yosuje's route though. The artist is a Yufag but he wanted to try something different from what I remember.
