The 360 was famed for being a huge success in Japan.
This is a great point Anon.
When you put it that way, it's very clear that Imas won't save the PS4. If Scamco wants to make any money with Imas 3 they will need to release a western version. Guaranteed.
What you mean is "People bought 360s to play Idolmaster." not "Idolmaster saved the 360 in Japan."
The 360 was not a success in Japan.
The PS4 is currently struggling immensely in Japan.
Idolmaster might boost sales but it's unlikely it will singlehandedly save the PS4.
What can you tell me about Maki's hoobies?
I don't honestly see what makes you think that IMAS selling big in Japan implies not getting a localization
Those two facts aren't tied together, if only it would make it even more clear that localizing is the correct move, as it would be expanding the franchise to the BIGGEST market in the world. It happened with everything else in their catalog, from Jojo to Tales of to One Piece, and now they are bringing old games like Saint Seiya to Steam
Also it's different from the mobile market, that relies on events and constant updates, they'll localize IMAS, ship it and never bother aboug it again
But most of us don`t understand moon runes anyway.
Don`t you love your idols, anon?
I'm not disagreeing with that.
Even so it won't turn the PS4 into an overnight success.
There are roughly 36 million PS4 sold right now, 2 million of them are in Japan.
If you localize your game you increase your potential audience 18 times over. You absolutely have to localize your games right now because the Japanese audience is so tiny. Unless like you say Idolmaster sells 10 or 20 million consoles.
Not to mention that localization would begin before the game is released in Japan so the Japanese sales wouldn't even be a consideration.
Imas 3 will be localized. It makes no sense at all otherwise.
Idolmaster would sell more on those 2 million consoles than on the other 34 million consoles.
I want to use Airi as a pillow.
>>128351652 They said the same about these
One Piece: Pirate Warriors 3 PS4 2015 Action Namco Bandai Games
Rest of the World 0.04
Saint Seiya: Soldiers' Soul PS4 2015 Fighting Namco Bandai Games
Rest of the World 0.01
Tales of Zestiria PS4 2015 Role-Playing Namco Bandai Games
Rest of the World 0.04
That's a really big assumption. You're assuming all those Japanese PS4 owners care about idolmaster which isn't true, a lot of people just use their PS4 to play Call of Duty.
You're also assuming the sheer install base outside of Japan wouldn't outweigh Japan's affinity for idolmaster.
For example, another fine Scamco game Dragonball Xenoverse. It sold about 12 copies outside of Japan for every 1 copy inside Japan.
Here's a crazy theory:
Maybe Idolmaster isn't popular in the west because it doesn't exist in the west?
LL:SIF already proved that there's a demand for idolshit outside of Japan.
Is Tales that big? I mean I'm pretty sure it's no Final Fantasy or SMT.
Plus games that have been seen as niche outside of Japan have recently had big successes. There's the Muv Luv kickstarter, Danganronpa (Hell the LP said there's no way it's getting released outside of Japan) and Monster Hunter.
Are you really comparing dragonball to idolmaster?
Shiny Fiesta proved that people aren`t willing to pay for it.
Tales is a renowned JRPG franchise outside of Japan.
And digimon, God Eater, Sword Art Online, jojo and possibly Gundam too right?
Plus Tales of was always the bitch that was never getting ported and we sill have many good iterations of the series that never saw a localization like the tales of the world series
>Shiny Fiesta proved that people aren`t willing to pay for it.
I actually think it broke even. And if you look at it Persona 1 and 2 weren't the smash hits outside of Japan that Persona 3 and 4 were.
>Tales is a renowned JRPG franchise outside of Japan.
I always though it was pretty niche compared to the big boys.
To be fair, Shiny Fiesta was handled terribly.
In a marketplace full of 99 cent games, no one was going to pay 45$ or however much it was for a no name IP (in the west) especially since it was only available on ios.
Probably not, but I`d rather produce.
Nah, love is best done in a couple.
SF sold like 100 copies.
Sorry, is Dragon Ball unpopular in Japan?
It was just an example of the first anime ass game I could think of.
Here are some other PS4 games which sold more outside of Japan than inside of Japan then:
Dragon Quest Heroes
Metal Gear Solid 5
Final Fantasy Type-0
Final Fantays 14
Guilty Gear Xrd Sign
Basically everything except Omega Quintet sell more outside of Japan just by the force of numbers.
Maybe you're right, idols won't sell.
Dragonball is extremely popular in the west.
>Everything other than the idol game sold well
Not to mention most of those game franchises have a history in the west.
Bloodbourne sold well in the west for obvious reasons.
It will be on a more suitable platform though and with the rising popularity of sites like Crunchyroll, Daisuki (that air the franchises anime) and also the raise of interest in 2D idols in the west thanks to LL (like it or not) makes it more likely to do better now than back when shiny fiesta was released.
Personally, I still don't see it coming over though.
And how many of those PS3 copies ended up in a second hand store the next day?
Love Live saved Idolmaster from the ruin
Thanks Love Live!
At the worst an idolmaster localization would sell equal numbers inside and outside of Japan. Even then that would be worth the cost of localization.
I don't think you understand how beneficial it is to raise your audience by 34 million potential customers.
The PS4 is a massive success worldwide.
The PS4 is a blunder in Japan.
Blame mobile gaming.
>What about Akiba's Trip?
How did it do in the west?
Never followed it.
It did the worst out of all the SMT games in Japan.
I'm not sure if that's hyperbole or if it really did worse than Jack Bros. If it did...damn.
Rin is a better cat than Miku.
And for saying that, I curse you to no SSR in your next 40 rolls
How much do the games actually sell? I see people often say the reason it won't work in the west is because it relies on a small user base that buys its Train Simulator-tier DLC.
The biggest obstacle to localization is the fact that it'll cost boatloads because of the music licensing.
And dub only would likely be a gigantic blunder.
Not like it matters to me since I'm not an EOP though.
>I see people often say the reason it won't work in the west is because it relies on a small user base that buys its Train Simulator-tier DLC.
More like that style of DLC isn't well received here and if they did release OFA here they would need to rethink their DLC pricing model to make it more acceptable here.
I don't know what the solution to that is either.
Japan doesn't buy PS4 games.
The rest of the world does.
Japan does download mobile games.
Japan downloaded this idol game less than the rest of the world.
Somehow to you this means Japan would buy a PS4 game?
I don't get it.
I just can`t see it selling better outside of Japan.
It's part of being a lady.
I just don't know how to explain this numbers thing better to you but it really is what's making the difference, it's why a lot of Japanese companies are localizing all their PS4 games.
Just for example, for Imas 3 to sell 100,000 copies in Japan that means 1 in 20 PS4 owners need to buy the game.
For it to sell the same 100,000 outside of Japan only 1 in 340 PS4 owners need to buy a copy of the game.
That's an unignorable difference if you're a sales manager sitting in Scamco's offices.
Would any of you even bother transitioning from the JP game to the English game if it got released?
I sure as hell wouldn't.
I`m not sure those kinds of activities are suitable for little artsy nerds or young buddies.
Yeah I should've clarified I meant SS.
Plenty of them are failing inside Japan too on the PS4 and that's why they are exporting them to be safe.
The PS4 is an exceptional circumstance. All the other Sony consoles were doing great in Japan.
you'd probably get wasted from one shot of hard liquor.
I think we`ve had this conversation before, Subaru wouldn`t do everything just because Producer told her too, Producer is very nice to Subaru which is probably one of the reasons why she likes him.
“Did we force ourselves on you, or you on us?”

What is with these high school tier insults?
He's right though. Except I heard somewhere that homos have above average testosterone, so that leaves just the other option. And I don't think you're a homo anyway.
I will feed Syuko shots of rum with my mouth.
I don`t think so.
Definitely in Producer`s top tier.
She's in the rightest job to be close to Producer.
It`s a design from the in-game themepark they visit every now and then, the one Miya really likes.
I want to learn about Fuka`s past as a nurse and why she quit.

Dooky and Miho come in a set so you don't have to worry about choosing one over the other. Hell, you might even get a free Kyoko from the deal.
You're on your own for that fucking cat though.
That technique...I want Shizuka to fondle my balls.

I like Yuzu, but fuck
Aw yeah baby.
That's all I need.
Is that all you'll make her feel?
The 765 15 year olds and a couple of my mates.
Of course she can.
She might fall asleep early though.
Karen's VA seems to have enjoyed Basa's new song.
You can trust Fred. She's a good person.

Kuso taste you got there.
If you want people to post Ranko, all you have to do is ask nicely, no need to shitpost.
>10th Anniversary Anthology ships in two to four weeks
What's the point of preordering if you don't have the stock, Amazon?
Takane always leads to weird ass discussions, even from people who have no clue that [email protected] even exists, usually about Germans
Takane, what the fuck?
As expected of the most German idol.
I have been waiting for this, thanks for the link.
Wrong. They're about the same. Way more rock than niwaka though
This is true, though.
