Maybe I should just go back to what I did two years ago (I thought it was last year, fuck me, time flies) - I dropped over 10kgs simply by eating healthier and removing any junk food from my diet. Sadly I gained it back recently because shit happened in my life and I gave up on the diet rather quickly. Now I'm at about 95ish kgs, so I might drop a couple. I'm rather tall, about 190cm, so it doesn't show that much, but would be nice to drop a bit I guess.

I went pretty radical right from the start. January 1st, dropping fast foods, coke, potatoes, pasta, any excess carbs, white bread, greasy food, every fucking thing. I even stopped adding sugar to the tea. No exercises. Dropped about 10kgs in first 3 or 4 months, and I kept that for over a year. It was a new year resolution for me and my gf back then. Dont remember the exact ages, but the cousin, a he, was probably 4-6 and she must've been 10-12. They probably had an adult with them. Apparently the little guy drops his stuffed animal, and it falls onto the tracks. When he, surprisingly quickly, dashes onto the tracks to get it, well you can imagine the rest.

They are just humans, they don't have superpowers or will a lot of them kill themselves willingly for no reason, like recent terrorists. They live in a fucked up place, though, and that makes all the difference. Your father dealt with people that still live in a place torn apart by war, that have to deal with injustice and death is probably a common sight. They already had their own morals that would seem a bit fucked up for us and then the place became central for western powers because of oil. The place is simply fucked right now, that means their people is all a bunch of fucked up people.

I don't get it why you expected them to respect your father, though, if I lived in Iraq and some fucker from a good place to live came there to teach us to kill for them, even if they say it will help me in the end, I wouldn't respect the guy not even a little. Also, individuality IS a thing there, which negates a lot of your father's fear. A little less than in the western world, a lot more than in the eastern world, but the muslim world doesn't try to negate individuality "for the greater good of society", although some fanatics will probably want that for their god. That means that it's really a stretch to say "they want to see you dead", people in general want a family, a nice job and a nice place to live, not to kill other people all the time, that's just the pastime that they can be convinced to do.
