I finished Kobashi's 深愛 and 歪愛 good endings, I'll report back once I'm done with the other two. I thought they were interesting but I'm getting a little burnt out. It's so much to read. It might also be because I've been busy with other games and now that Binary Star is here it's tempting me.

Can I just say that it took me about half of the route to figure out that マリス was supposed to be malice

I'm thinking of importing my first Vita otoge soon. Any recommendations? I'm pretty abysmal at Japanese but I'm getting better. I was thinking of KLAP!! because I'm just so tempted by the gimmick. Money isn't really an issue right now since it's a treat to myself.

A literal translation isn't necessarily something to strive for. You can try to translate something literally word for word, but you're going to end up with something that sounds unnatural, maybe even robotic, and thus most likely failing to convey the feeling of the original work. To be honest, I haven't played it that far yet.
But the main problem is the 'battle system'.
It's a rather frequent, about 10-20min lasting conversation with always the same background music. According to another anon, this lasts throughout the whole game.
Also, according to another anon, the characters become unlikable to the end because of their actions.

You could always read some reviews on Amazon if you want more impressions.
But you should get a Vita anyways, there are tons of good games on it, and the same artist is doing new art for Wand of Fortune R, which gets released on the Vita soon.

Because of this, they're basically screwing fans that actually care about their games. Now both fans and other consumers are more likely to postpone their purchase in wait for a sale and buy it once it’s dirt cheap.

If they continue this trend of having sales every month or so, eventually more people that are not the target market will impulsively purchase their games. Okita really was so great.. I also really loved how Chizuru developed in the end too, I loved their dynamic. He also had the best central enemy imo since you never really got to know about Kaoru outside of Okitas route.

I feel you, Hijikata's felt the most like a chore to get through for me, though I liked seeing his more goofy side in the fandisks, and it made me like him a lot more. Chikages route really was short, I'm also probably in the minority but I was actually hoping for him to kidnap Chizuru and force her to be his waifu. I was even expecting it while playing his route.

Yeah, Hakuoki was kinda one of my first otoge's, now that I know Otomate and Shinobu I know better. Still would have been nice for him to actually kidnap her once, maybe for a fandisk scenario and the other guys come and rescue her or something other than the whole "I used you being my waifu as an excuse to play with the Shinsengumi" thing in his route.
Oh boy, there's a ton of R18 otoges where the husbando's rape the MC. If an r18 otoge has bad ends it's pretty much guaranteed rape will be involved at some point. Some I can remember off the top of my head with rape are Under The Moon and Trick or Alice

CGs are a bit iffy at times and the story is not worth shit. But the majority of the game focuses on the boy and not the story so it's okay.

The thing that pissed me off the most is how much they focused on Kakeru. You know the 'common route' scene where Kakeru, Masamune and Senri are picking peaches together on one of the higher floors and then fall down (Senri jumps down).
They took that scene, let Masamune do some work in the background and Senri stay in his room, Koharu falls down in a way that looks like it hurts, and Kakeru jumps after her and saves her.

I didn't expect anything good from the anime, but this is worse than I imagined. I don't think I'll be able to suffer through more episodes, especially with that quality everywhere.

The only Hakuouki adaptations I enjoyed were the first movie and Reimeiroku. The movies had some amazing bits of animation, unexpected from DEEN.

I'm losing hope for C:R's anime, while the plot is complete, it's filled with details that you'd need to focus on the other guys instead of Lupin for a while, if you don't do that then everything will look easily handled. C:R could be decent with 24 episodes but 12 will make it horrible.
Animation is guaranteed to be below average since it's an otome and the designs are too detailed for anime.

Heroine is really great. She's also one of the demon lords (or whatever their name is), so she doesn't know very much about the human world, which makes some really cute scenes.
The boys - as always - depend on your tastes. But tsundere (the red-hair guy) is by far the best. Kimura Ryouhei really nailed him. The rest are okay, I personally also liked the hikki. Green is a bit questionable, though I can't really talk about a lot without spoilering. Haven't played the secret route yet.
The cat is quite funny. Best mascot. The other four demon lords are good as well, especially the green haired one by Tachibana.

As the newcomer to the ship, the introduction episode being from Koharu's perspective is the most fitting and natural course to take, also making the Kakeru focus pretty inevitable, too. To have attempted to introduce anything more would have been biting off more than they can chew (they'll have plenty of time to make it a jumbled mess later). I felt they actually handled the first episode quite well, which is surprising. I'm curious how they're going to manage to fit Sorata into the show now, though he was mostly irrelevant outside of epilogue anyway. However, I am disappointed about the change in ship design. I would've liked to see the design from the game brought to life, and I agree it gave a comfier impression.

Poor visuals aside, episode one was better than expected. The OP and ED songs were beautiful, waiting warmly for the full versions.

I'm slowly reading through the Hanayaka FD port. I have 3 best guys and Kisuke left from the first part. Mamoru became much better, Hiroshi got a little redeemed, Shigeru and Susumu are still shit, especially Shigeru, since Susumu has Tae and Sanji getting together, which makes his route better. Princes are good for anime fodder since they were never screwed up, but only their first game is worth it. Senpai games made me truly love Utapri and generally I like their songs a lot more. Honestly, I think Broccoli will milk the senpais to the point of no repair soon enough too, so I'll enjoy what's good for now.

Not to forget that the ship changes they made makes it pretty shitty. I loved the environment in the game, but in the anime everything is kinda grey, big, harder. The cute little sea next to grass now is big enough to have a bridge and boats. Why would this be necessary?

Not to forget the biggest fault, it looks like shit. Some backgrounds are nice but nice backgrounds are wasted if the character designs are butt ugly.

All video game to anime adaptations should just dick around and be goofy like the Kamigami anime.

I entirely agree with you. Kamigami was great, and another example I can think of was the first episode of P4 Golden where the MC was obviously on NG+. Fewer game adaptions need to stop trying to sell the entirety of the story and sell the characters and give a feel of the premise.

If you like Atelier games for the Alchemy, then you really won't like the alchemy system in this because it's dumbed down and feels like a waste of time normally. Thus, it got really boring fast. I mean, half the fun about the Atelier games was crafting imo. The characters really weren't as interesting as the ones from the regular Ateliers either. If you hate the alchemy in the regular games though, I'd say might as well try it out and see what you think of it. But for me it felt like the soul of the Atelier games was sucked dry in Elkrone.
