Now I can finally see what the real map looks like!

I started a couple days ago and I just now learned it's not constantly snowing normally. I'm so relieved.

I've gotten a couple levels, exploited my island of resources and ran to a mainland area and made a thatch house. what should I do next?

Yes, though attempting to club it will probably get you killed. If you have nothing else to use, consider a slingshot since raptors are glassy enough to get knocked out by one.

You also nailed it on the feeding/taming process, too. Just make sure the torpor bar doesn't bottom out and you'll be fine.

Of course. We don't bite (much) and Dinos 'n Chill uses the Valhalla map which is so vast and remote in places that you're unlikely to cross paths with anyone unless you purposefully try. Plus we could use an extra head there since it's not very populated as of late.

I play on a PvE server with several regular players.
Everyone seems to look out for each other and occasionally help newbies who have half a mind for themselves.

I'm kinda shit at building good looking things though. Need to up my fu and do something nicer for a change.

There's a few caves that you can build in, but you can't have generators or powered things underwater (unless on that big mega creature that has a platform saddle afaik. The caves aren't flooded, so you can have the generators there.

This game is a grind simulator and it's pvp is the poorly balanced garbage. Why would you bother when the entire system is set up to circumvent direct conflict when you could play any other multiplayer game that takes either skill, tactics, or both.

Breeding in its concept is fucked.
The devs cater to large tribes.
The problem with that is that because they make everything so grindy most large tribes end up being abandoned rather quickly because people get bored.

No one wants the "privilege" of sitting around baby sitting a quetz baby for 19 hours just so it can eat out of a trough.
For normal people that is about 4 hours a person split between 5 people roughly, on top of that someone will have to check in several times a day to keep troughs stocked for the week it takes to mature.

I didnt know that they had offline raiding before, i just recently joined the server about 2 weeks ago and would like a more active community

So I kind of glassed over this game for a while because I had other things to play and I just hadn't heard much about it. After hearing some friends talk about it and watching some early game play it looks like it could be pretty damn entertaining. Like a much more evolved minecraft

Of course when I visit the general per usual it seems like people just have a lot of bad things to say about tweaks and problems with the game.

Is it worth picking up or should I move on?

PVP dinos should be roughly the same against each other as before. Bullets and explosives are much more effective vs player dinosaurs. You don't need to have 50 autoturrets with 1200 rounds each to feel secure and using player built weapons against tames isnt a waste of materials.

Also, high level dinos and alpha predators are more difficult to deal with.

First, offline raiding was prohibited, it was a glorified PvE basically, but still everyone had a good time. Hell there were even around a dozen spots with public storage boxes holding stone tools, cloth armor, spears and the like for new players. Server started dying so they decide to allow raiding. While it brought a lot of new players, much of the old community left. Apparently it was going down again, for them to go back on their decision.

My friend wants me to move around his area, which is around Lat 65 Long 85 south spawn 3.

The only problem is I can't find a pretty area close to the sea so I can build a dock.
Closest thing I liked was the rocks around 55/87 with that nice little pool. But there's not enough room for me to make something nice with the restrictions on the building in game.

Tell me one thing besides a giganoto that can take a mid to high level alpha rex now? My best rexes and spinos that were near fully leveled had to be used before, and there's no way 7-10k hp dinos with 250%(what the are now roughly) melee will be able to kill a 80k hp rex that hits you for 500 a bite.

What is the best way to get rare mushrooms on valhalla? I tried the swamp trees with an anky and got nothing. Am I stuck farming crystal nodes?

We're over on Cragg's Island so we don't see a lot of action besides new player spawns. We're cool with the tribes who could actively raid us (we have other bases) and it seems people who attack unprovoked are fair game for everyone else to attack in retribution.

The tears really are delicious and years here taught me how no matter how you get affected by something bad yourself, if it causes butthurt it's all plenty worth it: but to be more serious I'd struggle to recall another game I've played where a nerf bat suddenly reduced your HP to 1/4 and your attack to 1/6 of what they were overnight.

I checked offline on both the valhalla and island maps and couldnt find shit even after a dino wipe. I think they are just ridiculously rare like gigas for whatever dumb fucking reason.

I purchased this about 6 months ago and found the game to be horribly optimized. I've got a pretty decent rig that can run the witcher 3 on high, and I could barely run this game on medium. Cranked to low it was mildly better, but it looked like garbage and still didn't run all that great. I went ahead and got a refund for it.

Has the game made any progress with optimization at all? I'd love to jump back in, but I dont want to waste my money.
