I'll definitely keep Island Paradise off the install list.
I can't even remember what it adds beyond hotels and houseboats and water-based travel.

Its a shame my standards have gone up so much since upgrading my computer. The game was just getting too hard to play when everything else ran so beautifully and looked so much better too.

I'm having some trouble getting a Plumbot to tutor Sims I gave it Limitless Learning and raised its Logic skill to 10, and gave it AI Angler and Steel Chef to give it a 10 in both Fishing and Cooking. However, it doesn't give me the option to tutor, even with Sentience installed. Any ideas? Is it just not possible for Plumbots to tutor Sims?

haven't played in a long time, completely deleted all my CC and started fresh. are there actual folders or packs of hair, clutter, or anything really? I'm overwhelmed by all the CC, and I find it espeically irritating to download things like hair individually when I want a variety of different styles or whatever since I find the game's hair to be hideous greasy blobs most of the time. I'm just impatient to play I guess but I don't like playing without CC. I saw the link in OP, but I'm not really interested in downloading whole sims.

If you want to, sure.

It doesn't really matter what kind of specs you have though, the game with all packs is still prone to crashing and stutter issues.

If you do reinstall, get 3Booter + 3Booter's FPS limiter so you don't murder your graphics card.
Also get NRAAS Error Trap and Overwatch to help with bugs, routing issues, general lag-causers, etc.

I think it will kind of depend on your own threshold. But for the most part it should play smooth enough. Make sure to clear your cache files every couple of days or whatever to help reduce lag as well.

The game has no built-in v-sync/fps limit. However, everything is rendered at a speed of 30 fps.
This can cause graphicscard to quickly heat up. It won't necessarily hurt your card unless you play for hours and hours at a time probably, but its still stupid as hell.

The game's. You'll find them in the same folder you plopped your "Mods" folder in (C:\Users\****\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3, in case you forgot). The files you'll want to delete are as follows:

There are some other files you can periodically delete if your game is still lagging, but we'll get to those in another post.

Why does content come out at such an abysmally slow rate for TS4? Is it because nobody gives a shit about The Sims anymore?

I mean fuck the ts4 engine seems to be a lot smoother and more streamlined (at the cost of a sizeable reduction in freedom with worlds), youd think people would want to work with that.

Sims 3 will never run perfect, but if 5820k won't do well with it then I don't know what will.
I've seen a massive performance boost upgrading from AMD Athlon II 250 to FX 6300 and I can say it runs pretty smooth now.

I briefly tried it with just the base game + university and even speed 3 ran without a hitch.
My game has things like nraas SP and dresser now so with almost all EPs, speed 3 is not smooth, but it's alright. I don't see a reason why it wouldn't work well for you. As well as TS3 can anyway.

The biggest problem about it is Isla Paradiso and it's because of the fog effect that is really heavy on computers it drops my fps from 20 to 1/2. Just use the cheat to discover all of the 8 secret islands and it should fix it.
