you use your support to carry you through 10 and 20 aps, then you get your emiya and waver up a bit, and do 30, then 40

i'm doing 40 ap right now and my level 50 emiya and usually a support jeanne or artoria are the only things carrying me through the quests, every other unit sucks (cause waver is weak to riders)

and once you do those, your master level shoots up so you end up with 200-400 ap surplus to spend
i've still got 287 i'm trying to spend

anyway, the amount of time you can "play" increases with level, obviously
at the start - if you dont level up fast - you have a small ap cap
by the time you've been playing a while, you have like 100+ap to spend when you log in each time
