They couldn't get the effects work on the Wii for whatever reason.

I don't understand this shit meme.

The one thing this game borrows from OM is the flashy finisher animations. Besides that, the rest of the game is literally just a classic 2D Metroid game, with some modern enhancements like the melee counter and being able to free aim.

Like, if it was super linear, had a insane focus on story, brought back stupid shit from Other M like the focus self-healing mechanic over proper health pic ups, then yeah, we'd have a problem. But, looking at both impressions and videos of it, it clearly isn't the case.

I never played a metroid in my life until that E3, and personally i've started with the NES version as i love seeing why, how did it progressed in general.
The NES version is really amazing.. I understand why this serie had success. It has some bad moment, but honestly.. It's really one of the best game. The organic, weird soundtrack, with those weird enemy-alien creature in which you will instantly see an Alien inspiration, the gameplay, the animation of Samus herself, and the level are really amazing.
So that's for the NES version anyway. I think the NES game is really further on its time than the other NES game, and has many elements that today's game exploit much.

Used games are a safe guard?

There's two reasons for nintendo to keep putting games on the 3DS

1) Production is cheaper. This is actually a good fit for metroid because it doesn't sell well yet has a dedicated fan base that will buy it no matter how cheap and shit it is. Nintendo bought a failing studio for nothing just to make this game.

2) Consumers have memory. They remember when they bought a console and the company ditched support for it to make games for their new ones. That's all reggie was trying to sell here when he said they were going to continue to support the 3DS beyond 2018. But long term projections, especially optimistic ones, mean nothing in business.

Also this is all about degree. This faggot thinks sakamoto is going to have a metroid ready for release in 2019 on a handheld that won't be dead. Those are two retarded ifs.
