Prime 2 started being incoherent in it's level design and did things which slowed down the player to ridiculous levels and enemies that just weren't fun to fight. Prime 3 had even more problems of levels just feeling like set pieces and powers that were only ever used in one or two locations and never again, like welding. Not to mention even MORE slowing down the player.

Metroid's mistakes shouldn't mean that you completely over look the game before you even know anything about it. Fans saw gameplay of Fed Force and Other M and knew they would be shit from that point.

Dolphin works better with the GCN versions. The Wii "trilogy" versions tend to have some issues. Over the years they have gotten better but it still not perfect. Sucks considering the bump to full HD makes these games look so much better and the mouse and keyboard controls works well with as wii controls substitutes

The only real question is do you play the original gamecube versions on dolphin or do you play the trilogy versions on dolphin. Gamecube has more graphical effects since most of the arm cannon effects had to be dropped with the Wii version since they didn't work on a 3D arm cannon you can move around, but those Wii versions had better controls and allow you to freely aim far more easily so it's up to you.

Yeah the effects like the arm cannon frosting over were only modeled for viewing from that one angle if you free camera they break almost immediately so as you can imagine that wouldn't work with an arm cannon you can flail around as you please.

Don't know why the distortion effects were removed though, when you shot off a charged beam the whole world would warp around it and when you fired off a quick volley of plasma the cannon would have heat ripples coming off it. These effects are gone in from both MP1 and MP2 in trilogy. Probably just some difficulty porting them over to the Wii in tact. The trilogy version of MP3 also has a few differences but they're mostly so minor you'd never notice.

Well most emulation is CPU dependent, not GPU so that would probably be your primary bottleneck, RAM speed can also play a big role for some games.

That said I actually haven't tried it myself I just remember saying Trilogy doesn't work well recently and another anon posting a bunch of full speed webm of trilogy on dolphin says it's been fixed. I just took his word for it. Maybe it's still broken? Maybe he just had the settings all figured out just right. Maybe your computer is shit. Maybe the sun revolves around my dick I dunno.
