I would be legit surprised if there's no hard mode. Every Metroid game since 2002 has had one.

The biggest worry I had was that the map design would be shit since it's made by an external developer but after hearing that most of the creative work is being done by veterans at Nintendo, I'm much more optimistic. As long as my 3DS still remains in a playable state, I'll be getting this game (the circlepad finally came loose last month, I don't think it has much longer left).

I...really doubt it'll be better than AM2R, that's not me bagging on Samus Returns, but AM2R wasn't afraid to shake a lot of things up and I expect Samus Returns to be more faithful to the original Metroid 2, which I think could hold it back a bit.

I'm still crazy excited for it, but AM2R is my favorite 2D Metroid.

I don't know why people don't like this boss, it was fucking amazing, but yet, it's set pretty high, though there are some bosses that were just eh, like the boss you fight in the reactor. He goes down so easy and then the fight doesn't have any tension at all.

But things like the Guardian, Torizo, Weapons Testing Platform and the Hunter were just crazy awesome original fights. Even how he changed up Arachnus with needing to launch it was just brilliant.

I hope that Nintendo doesn't just retread that fight the same way it was in Fusion. It deserves more. But I'm glad that they are making it a boss at all. Metroid 2 it certainly was a surprise coming at you from what you thought was an item sphere, but it didn't take a lot to kill.

Their cloning tanks seem to be top notch, they likely just clone themselves a new batch every time Samus wipes out a squad. They also aren't above genetically engineering themselves, so them being suicide is probably something they bred in so that they would have no fear of being sent to their death.
