I liked it. For what it was worth, I think it could have been much worse. It hit all the notes for me, it even had the MMPR theme in it, as brief as it was.

The cliffhanger implies the Tommy arc of the show will be the story of the next movie, which was my favorite arc. Give it a watch, its enjoyable.

I don't understand how people can enjoy PR. Its hamstrung by how it needs to adapt footage from a pre-existing show.

The pacing is usually god-awful, the acting can be wooden as well, and the NEVER-ENDING TALKING during fights is horrific.

I just don't get it. At least with Sentai and Rider, the culture gap lets you ignore some of the wooden acting and just enjoy it in all its weird glory.

a few years ago I was trying to watch MMPR on Netflix, but then somebody suggested me to watch KR and since then I haven't gone back to watch MMPR. Bulk and Skull were ruining the show for me, but Akiko in KR W(Double) was as much as annoying as them. But Fourze remains my favorite, next to Ex-Aid and Drive.

Xiao, Champ and Stinger recently got decent development though. The problem is trying to squeeze all twelve rangers in a 48-50 episode season when one of your scans had the other main eight going into the Red Ranger's super form. Judging from how simplistic Kyuranger is, the only way characters could really develop a lot more is if Xiao is used as a plot device to further develop the other rangers before Lucky came in through flashbacks and for everyone else after him they might as well have dedicated episodes to them like usual.

To be fair, RPM was an odd change that felt more like something that was airing on a channel like Sy-Fy than a show meant to be a 22 minute advertisement for children, airing on Disney's Saturday morning program.
Also the change to a Post-Apocalyptic serious drama like show can turn a bit of people off from it. It doesn't help that it's source material is from a goofy parody of Carranger (whitch that series didn't take itself seriously at all) so it's understandable it would turn some people off or not click with them.

I think RPM is overrated but I did enjoy it for what it was and what it tried to do. If only they could have waited 3 more years, Go-Busters would have been absolutely perfect to adapt into what RPM was.

That had to greenscreen Leo. He was the only actor who didn't want to be a part of it.
Hardest part was getting Tommy, Jason and Rocky to agree. Rocky couldn't make it. Tommy came to NZ to do another season a year later.

I didn't mind it, but my main gripes were:

1) The bullies in Angel Grove High School were bland as shit compared to Bulk and Skull, and in the case of Kimberly's ex-friends from the popular clique, literally did nothing wrong to deserve the random acts of karma that work against them in the later half

2) It took waaaaaaay too long to get them into the suits, making the movie suffer from every origin movie syndrome where the build up and payoff are not balanced properly

3) Goldar's explanation was semibelievable enough for B-List sci-fi but I miss him being an actual lackey with personality, Rita really needed one of those

Conversely, I liked the kids who were the Rangers well enough, their issues weren't too terribly hamfisted, and they expanded a bit on Zordon's lore which was sorely lacking in the original series. CGI was on and off, liked the suits in action but the Megazord was so-so.

So there is a pretty funny episode where Tommy as the evil green ranger messes with them. It is my theory that putting them in the movie would be trying to do too much when this was just supposed to be about the power rangers, their origin and their bond.

I have a feeling we will be seeing bulk and skull in the second movie, with a very similar scene of the green ranger fucking them up.
