This is actually quite scary in all honesty. I'm running Windows 7 and do a lot of art and design on my PC which I back up to an isolated external every so often. But losing even a weeks work would actually kill my schedule and make me miss deadlines.

I do have Auto install important updates ticked, and my computer often does updates before it turns off, but it's still a big worry. I've been hit by light ransomware on an old PC back in the old days when i used to download a lot of shit from torrents etc, but those just locked your desktop and could be easily cleaned using safe mode.

What update should i make sure i have to avoid this? I've just been on my computer all night playing games so I'm pretty sure it's fine, but I just want to be sure.
