I'm only familiar with 1-6 and all of those are great titles even if they feel kinda stale on the later games the core gameplay is always good enough to be at least a way above average action-platformer. I'm not too familiar with 7 and 8 but 7 wasn't that bad as some people say for me, just a bit bland and I haven't finished 8 yet but some levels feel a bit boring and sliding sucks without upgrades. Rockman and Forte was good too but kinda bullshit in terms of difficulty in a few places, haven't played 9 and 10 yet.

Moving your character around never felt this good in any other MM series in my opinion, overall they're great but the small screen size leads to a lot of cheap moments specially in the first game making some of the challenge more about memorization than actual skill.

The first two title are excellent, the rest range from good to terrible. I haven't played X4 in a while so maybe that one is just as good as the first two.

Only played the first one, overall a good game but most of the time I didn't see too much of the appeal in the new mechanics so it just felt like a lesser Zero title with less challenge.

I'm playing the first BN and Legends right now, they seem ok so far but nothing truly great has happened at the moment. Haven't played any Starforce yet either.

Zero is my favorite series too. I just wish they didn't remove EX Skills in the hard modes, because the game is actually at its absolute best when you've got the large range of abilities available for navigating levels. Zero's hard mode felt a lot like buster only in X series, things just take longer and not necessarily challenging or strategic.

To be fair MM's model basically makes making a longer game pretty much impossible (unless you want a Wily Castle that dwarfs the actual game) so they just made a bunch of small ones instead. It took until Zero for them to somehow stretch out 16 levels to several hours.

How? Classic has less mechanics but most of the time the level design feels focused enough so that all the basic things you can do have an important purpose and require thought or dexterity to be cleared without being hit often. X 1 and 2 aren't bad in that regard but sometimes just dashing and shooting charge shots will solve most problems without the need to think carefully how you'll avoid the attacks or enemies. MMX 1 and 2 are great but the best classic titles are focused enough in their basic mechanics to be great in their own way, while X feels faster but sometimes the challenge is more bland.

If it's a challenge then the pacing isn't killed. Most of those enemies don't resist more than 6 charged shots to begin with. I'll give you that the OST is weaker but I really don't see your point in terms of level design considering that some stages like Pharaoh Man's end quicker than the average stage in 2 or 3.

Most last around 4~ or less, this isn't Unlimited and it was probably made because the charge shot made destroying enemies faster so the levels needed to be longer and use more sub bosses to avoid making things too easy.

Yeah, they got that pretty late into the GBA games, leaving Classic and X mostly all male (I mean, what bosses other than Splashwoman and Berkana are girls there). BN kind of got around reusing robot master as navis by giving some of them female operators, but we really only started getting proper female bosses from Zero 4 and ZX/SF

Esperanto is fucking good, indeed. It's really impressive what they could do on the shitty GBA chip. Even Castlevania remixing their good tunes aren't really good on the GBA like MMZ4 with its OST.

ZX's ost is great too. Mountain Pass, GGG and Wonder Panorama are my top 3 on this game. The only area without decent music is H, the rest, fucking glorious.

The GBA doesn't have any dedicated sound hardware (besides the ancient GB/C stuff), so the music was mostly done by the main CPU. CPU-heavy games like Megaman Zero suffered while slower games like JRPGs could often get much better.

The DS collection of the Zero games had much better sound quality. The DS contains the GBA CPU, but now it's twice as fast and used only for sound and some other peripheral functions.
