After playing it for a couple hours I came to the conclusion that Dragon's Dogma and Dark Souls are absolutely nothing alike.

I played this last year on ps3, I liked it but got bored after like 9 hours because of the lack of any sort of convenient fast travel and constantly being over encumbered and having to make long boring treks back to a merchant to sell shit (I loot EVERYTHING in games like this).

I just watched some footage for the PC port and goddamn, that combat in 60fps, instant load times, infinite fast travel orb thing, shit textures but amazing lighting, etc.

I really am in the mood to buy it on PC and start over with it again, but one thing I noticed watching gameplay vids was it seems like the terrible pop-in was still there, not just environment stuff, but there was a group of goblins and if you were standing like 40 feet away you only saw the closest 4 goblins but when you got to 30 feet or so a 5th goblin pops in. Does anyone know how prevelent this enemie pop-in issue is on PC? Or if it's fixable through config tweaks or mods?

Whats the purpose/strength of a mystic knight?

I cant remember which one has it but if you counter, as long as you dont move, you have infinite frames in which to counter any physical attacks be it from small goblins to the damn Ur-Dragon itself. Level cap is 200 and I was lvl 50 when I completed the game without Dark Arisen, so you really don't need to worry about it.

Basically just play the class you like to play, or use a mixed class like Magic Knight or Magic Archer if you want str/int or dex/int builds.

Why is Mystic Knight so underwhelming? I spent way too long playing other vocations just so my stats would be balanced and to get the augments I want and now that I can safely settle in and play the actual vocation I wanted to play all I can muster is a shallow "meh".

May seem like it at first, thanks to all the effects making things hard to read sometimes. But the more you play, the more you'll get the hang of it. Try to not change your equipped skills too much at first, as this will only lengthen the learning of the basics.

You don't need to know any pattern here. You only need to know if the enemy is about to attack or not, if he is, dodge, block or run away depending on your class. A few enemy have really quick attacks that are hard to avoid but most class have counters for this too. It's a game that demands less precision in predicting hits and attacks but it still has great combat flow especially when facing more than one enemy.

Also as an aside, fighting that first golem at daybreak while walking back from escorting barnabey to the blood something bay was one of the most epic fights I've ever fucking had. We had just finished cautiously traveling across the area throughout the night, avoiding goblins and sticking near the coastline. I wanted to double back and check out the spires by the cliff since I felt safer doing it in the daylight in case there was a gobbie camp there. Was wandering around looking for treasure when the rock I was near just fucking stands up and starts blasting us with lasers. Leaping on that motherfucking and stabbing his gems out until he went berserk and almost killed us all was so fucking intense holy shit. Everfall is pretty good for leveling. There's also a lot of loot and money to be had there but BBI is much better.

You can also do NG+ and switch to hard mode. Try BBI around 60-70

Fighter pawns will just blow that shit at the worst time. Swap over to Warrior with him & replace all of his charge attacks with nice fast swipes. Then drop a Portcrystal near Hobgoblin/Saurian camps & duo them with him while spamming the "Go!" & "Help Me!"(Left D-Pad version, not faggy right) until he turns into a proper Scathe/Utilitarian tank. Then he'll start doing useful shit for you. Like holding down Saurian so you can chop their tails off, or smacking the helmet off of a cyclops so you can shoot it in the eye.

Once you get 5000 Rift points, you can buy a once-in-a-lifetime item that lets you change your pawn's appearance.

While some of the everfall dungeons will push your shit in, its the best place to level up at your level. Once you get the level 60+, start trying your hand at the offline UR dragon and keep killing it to build up some wake stones(extremely useful for BBI) and gear for what ever class you want. After you get a decent amount of wake stones and the gear you want from the offline UR dragon, you can start BBI, which you will be 100+ once you beat it the first time.

The game caps at level 200, but the stats you gain hardcap after level 100, so gear becomes extremely important past 100, and BBI level 2 is going to be hard no matter what level you are.

There are quite a few good farming spots if you are looking to dragonforge you weapons after the everfall, its been a long time since I played so I can't remember when I put the port crystals, but I'd place them in key spots where Drakes would spawn and then kill them once they respawn in between fighting the UR dragon.

If you place the port crystals correctly, you can beat the game in around 30 minutes if you really need to dragonforge something.

I place one in the camp right outside the fortress and the drake, its a great farming spot with a cyclops and several hob goblins. Obviously put a port crystal outside the griffens tower, fuck that place.

Another crystal goes right outside the dragonforged, its a great in the middle spot for many quests.

After that its really up to preferance. I put port crystals outside of key spots in the story for speed running or some port crystals where a lot of enemies or bosses spawn for grinding.
