>boot Dragon's Dogma
>play it for a bit
>19 hours on record
what the fuck?
I know that feel. I've played it 3 times so far and I have 11 hours in.
Who trap arisen here?
>Never have any rift crystals because no one ever used my pawn
>Use a memory editor to give myself more rift crystals so I don't have to deal with it
>Later try to grab some pawn and get a "excluded corrupt pawn data from list"
>Realize this is probably a memory edited pawn
>Not sure if I just fucked my chances of ever having my pawn rented or not
>Just kinda accept that my pawn is probably fucked and move on
you do, enemies drop them.
and there isn't much to do with them until BBI and they are dropped much more frequently then
it is interesting that it detected the edit. i am surprised they bothered.
>Don't you get rift crystals by just playing?
A very minor amount
>I think I have about 3k by now.
And that's basically nothing and it probably took you hours to gather up even that much?
I think I made the right choice even if it did fuck me out of ever having my pawn used.
what are you using your RC's on, anyways? cosmetic items? functionally, the only useful things are the inclination elixirs and the quest equips if you somehow lose them.
only other big purchase i can think of is unlimited character edit once you beat the game
>it is interesting that it detected the edit.
Well that's still unsure.
There is no way to confirm my pawn has been labeled as corrupt, I just saw another pawn in the rift that I tried to summon who was labeled corrupt and I suspect it may have happened to my own because of my rift crystal editing, but it may not and it my just be no one rented my pawn just like normal anyway. I did play like 20 hours and never had a person rent my pawn before I did any editing.
I mean it may only detect people who directly edit their pawn's or their own stats.
>I did play like 20 hours and never had a person rent my pawn before I did any editing.
It's a known bug that's happening to literally everyone without any exceptions right now. Your pawn gets rented but you don't get any benefits.
If you want to focus on being an archer a Ranger will offer you better bow skills, but you'll lose a lot of mobility in the process, so I don't really recommend, Strider is a better class overall, especially against bosses.
You can easily avoid the enemies there and just grab the chests.
It requires a little bit of luck, but you should at least end up with a few thousand just by sticking to the easy/early areas.
their "nerfs" just changed them from being bullshit broken to good.
I pirated it the day it was leaked so I'm at about 80 hours by now.
Though most of that is alt tabbing of course.
>already at the final boss
>"Wow I haven't even been playing that long and I'm already about to beat it?"
>39 hours on record
>miss a single quest because it is cancelled by story progression
>missing a quest at the beginning of the game when you're still learning how things work locks you out of late game quests and lots of content/shops/cool items
Maybe for you but definitely not for me.
Here's mine. Rate and hate, but don't
I remember that feeling when I got it two years ago. In two days I played it for like twenty hours, so I basically just came home from work and played it until I went to sleep
well, i'm just going off the fact that the game freezes entirely when i alt+tab.
coupled with the fact that i only have like 40~ hours when i'm sure i have at least 50-60
Not him but I played offline back on consoles and by the time rift crystals were actually relevant I had more than I even knew what to do with.
You didn't make the right choice at all, RC is easy as fuck to get. Random trash mobs just end up dropping 100 at a time for no reason.
You should be fine, people say it should be the same vocations but it's more like an issue of a pawn learning with you, like if you use ranged skills too much your pawn will start using them more often too.
pawns behaviors are guided by bestiary knowledge and inclination. the former is gained by battling enemies and trying different tactics, the latter can be controlled by elixirs purchased in the encampment.
Try to think of a party composition you think sounds fun.
qt3.14 sorcerer with big strong fighter pawn to keep you warm at night
Here's a tip;
Create your pawn to fit your needs, want a pack-mule make your character big and tall, want a character who can climb enemies faster make them small, want a balanced pawn who can do a bit of both give even proportions
I feel that reading wiki pages kills a lot of fun. Having a limited exposure to game mechanics by talking to anons is a much better experience. No the person you're responding to.
You can train them beyond inclinations/knowledge/just giving them skills. But as far as I know it's limited to same job because it seems to go off of ability use. I swapped to Fighter to get some augments & early HP/Def & spent my whole time spamming the low level thrust attacking archers. Now my Fighter pawn zooms around the field thrusting archers.
I've seen lots of people here shit talk people for having the button prompts on screen, which is funny to me because if you're actually any good at the game your skills will constantly be changing so it's actually kind of handy to have the prompts.
>The quest Lost and Found must be completed prior to completion of Lure of the Abyss otherwise the quest will fail.
>Warning: Skipping this quest causes several quest lines to be unavailable and the east side of the Witchwood will remain permanently sealed off, which is the only area where King Bay Leaf grows.
why is this fucking ok, wtf did I fucking miss by 'failing' this quest because i did the quest DIRECTLY after escorting the head
what the FUCK
You should remember them after a couple minutes at most
Can an assassin even be an archer though? Was a while ago I played it but I remember during my archer run, the best method of combat was to climb enemies. I was a ridiculously fast assassin.
>tfw when selene was your beloved >the two of them search and discover what it means to be human for the first time the fuckin ending was way better than i thought it'd be
You can make them attractive but you need good slider fu and the good looking options are limited
on another note when the fuck are they fixing the renting shit i need my riftbux FUCK
Yeah, Lost and Found is bullshit and most new players fuck it up. Thankfully the game clearly tells you when quests are going to fail afterwards. It's the one exception and it screws you up real bad.
i got this too mate
i didn't even know i had these feels
usually her affinity is maxed with both quests that involves her, so sometimes she becomes your beloved and you don't even know it.
why the fuck do the big guys like cyclops and chimeras respawn what the hell is this shit, literal fucking time fillers. i travel to the quest place and have to fight them again travelling back. fucking hell
Max affinity is indicated by a blush and pink aura, and the last person you talked to with max affinity is your lover. Is this correct? Wouldn't just grabbing and throwing everyone but your mark make it easy to romance whoever you choose?
I wanted to go for Mercedes before I played the game, but she is much more attractive with her mouth shut.
On that note, what a fucking laugh
Selene was the first to go full Affinity, and right after Witch Hunt so it was pretty beautiful.
Then I end up questing to stop a retard fishboy from my village from killing himself, and this maxes the affinity. Like hell I want anything to do with this mouthbreather so I threw him off a short cliff to lose points.
>think my pawn might have been corrupted because I used the secret of metamorphosis cheat and some rift crystals
>never saw the popup or got any gifts
>pawn has "unfamiliar foe"s in her bestiary
Got scared there for a second.
The best i could do
ignore the ugly armor
>see /v/ going apeshit with this game
>decide to try it, arr
>create sword fighter main character, because i always do
>create sword fighter bro
>fight hydra, fight some gobbos and bandits
>game seems fair, some places ave high level bandits so im limited to what i do
>find ogre by river, get obliterated
>level up some, go back to bandits
>get a bit farther, fuck up some lizard dudes
>beat a fucking manticore
(i am aware that its not a big deal, but seeing half of my party clinging from its mane, the others healing and throwing fireballs, dank shit)
>read something about some other island
>stronk enemies, whatever, more exp
>grim fucking reaper, lol nope
>explore a bit, go down to chained up superogre
>decide i dont even want to go inside, leave
>got some nice loot, levelled up a bunch
>go back to waterfall ogre
>manage to beat it
i'd share some screes, but for some reason all my images turn out pitch black?
>Mercedes escort quest
>She tries to fight some enemies
>Pawn blows up the cart with explosives near her
>she goes flying off into the shallow river below head first
>tfw everyone eventually has enough of your shit and breaks out of your grab
>tfw your pawn never does
that's what i call loyalty, boys
why would they? I fucking killed him. It's not a fucking patrol like Far Cry 2 where its ok but yet still people bitched. It's a fucking random monster in the middle of nowhere - not a troll cave, not a nest, just a fucking middle of nowhere.
my pawns always die
when/where do i get that?
>mercedes escort quest
>ferrystone to the shadowfort
everytime i start it up i have to alt-tab out of the game, alt-tab back in otherwise it's a black screen.
if you look at the capcom customer support thread on steam you'll see i'm not the only one.
Pls respond. Is it worth it or just fuck this shit and do it in ng+?
>his party isn't all male
I'm still mad about lost and found. I was hurrying to gran soren to change vocation and decided fuck it, while I'm here I'll do lure of the abyss real wuick before side quests. Never again. Not doing any main quest anymore until I've combed the entire map and did all the available sidequests.
R8 my pawn /v/
and tell me why no one have hired him yet? ;__;
I wanted to see dem tiddies and asses
but disappointed I actually can't, seeing armors are designed to protect the actual character, not show dem tiddies
So, i missed that Reynard guy, it seems he was being attacked by goblins at the beginning of the game and the camera even zoom in on him when you get close enough, but, i started that Seabreeze Trail from the beach because i wanted to explore and swear to god that there was no one screaming for help and no goblins attacking someone, there was only goblins chiling out waiting for me to kill them.
So, i just lost this merchant now? I've come back 2 times to that trail nothing, no guy, no goblins attacking.
Fuck this game come on.
Also, that Mercedes escort was fucking nice, i had to fight a heavy armored cyclops and in the middle of the fight a drake appears out of nowhere and incinerate the cyclops. She almost died to the cyclops though.
Oh, and i fucking love strider/ranger/assassin, that dodge ability, that double jump, that rush/dash attack , those bow abilities, jesus, is fucking amazing.
How the FUCK do I kill Ogres? Playing a sorc and things go ok until he goes into fucking frenzy and fucks everyone up.
Literally every fight I do is charge towards an enemy using ctrl+LBM, send enemy into the air with a mighty swing using ctrl+RMB, and repeat going towards the next one. I've been doing that for 30 levels and I still don't tire of it.
are you supposed to kill the griffin outside gran soren
this nigga keeps flying away
I kinda' wish "hard mode" did something a little more interesting.
Making spongey enemies even spongey'er and making you a one-hit-kill isn't really how one makes a game harder.
I was hoping for new mechanics, or new enemy combinations, or perhaps quicker animations on big monster attacks or something.
that one griffin is known to just be a fucking asshole
he'll just leave 90% of the time because fuck you
Just got to Gran Soren, where can I get a decent longsword to switch to Warrior?
Lost and Found - find Quina and meet the witch of Witchwood.
Can do it after you deliver hydra head to capital. Can't do after you deliver hydra head to capital and visit pawn guild.
Bandits on the route to Witchwood might be too strong for you but you can just run past them into woods. You'll probably need magic to kill ghosts in the wood.
>been playing warrior for 15 hours
>only just realized that the heavy attack has two different attacks, the second only available if you heavy attack > wait > heavy attack
Thanks for telling me game
Couple of questions. This first one is probably fucking stupid, but please indulge me.
1. Is it possible to hire pawns between console/PC?
2. Mage or strider/ranger for my pawn? I've played through the game about 5 times on ps3 and now I don't know what to do with PC. I tend to roll mage because I don't trust other people to give them good inclinations. Utilitarian/challenger best.
>like if you use ranged skills too much your pawn will start using them more often too
For melee i can see, like you don't want your mage/rangers to go melee like a madman, but if your pawn is fighter/warrior and you play range what will happen to them? Being retarded and don't engage enemies as often?
>never even noticed the chapel in the starting town
>apparently the reverent had a quest
done it on ps3 already lol...Dat feel when u try to make an all valkyrie team with nothing but fighter amazons and get rekt by everything
I'm having trouble surviving and killing things as a mystic knight. Someone in a previous thread said I should stick to fighter and that'll give me an easier time. Is this true? What armor should I be wearing as a fighter? Should I upgrade to warrior at some point? Also general tips would be appreciated. So far I've gotten tips like
>explore, explore, EXPLORE.
>don't go out at night
Any other tips would be greatly appreciated.
>walk around town
>nothing but female pawns wearing that pink dress
THEY'RE MASTERWORKS ALL YOU CANT GO WRONG!!!!
>Is it possible to hire pawns between console/PC?
I think it's not. Right after the game was released, only lower level pawns were available, higher level ones had no player owners.
>Mage or strider/ranger for my pawn
Mage is awesome.
X- OHK Y- Snakebite/Masterful Kill B- Harness
X- fivefold Y- Mighty Bend B - Pentad
X- OHK Y- Splitter Z - Reset
X- fivefold Y- Mighty Bend B - Pentad
X- OHK Y- trigger Z - Reset
X- tenfold Y- Gambit B - Whirling
X - OHK Y - Shackle B-Balancer
X- sixfold B - Rivet B- Ricochet
I'd go on but im being autistic enough as it is
reposting experience from yesterday
>escorting Selene to near where the arisen is carved in the mountain, from Gran Soren
>never been there before
>end in sight
>"Arisen, Snow Harpies, watch out for their song!"
>Quest Added: Ambush!
>"Arisen - A chimera!"
I failed the quest
>Escorting Mercedes to Shadowfort
>chimera out of nowhere
>decide to explore the map to the south
>fucking dragon out of nowhere
this game man
just finished taking back Shadowfort, fighting two colossus cyclops things whilst flaming bolts rain down on you is insane
Why did no one tell me about Mason in the art book?
How the fuck do I load my game what the fuck is wring with this game. I don't want to load from last checkpoint, I want to load where I saved what the fucking stupid fucking maps can't design a game for shit
REYNARD JUST STAY PUT YOU FUCKING PIECE OF SHIT.
Seems about right. He's meant to look suss as fuck, it's why he needs you to investigate Salvation because he can't look for information for shit.
You know I've had no issue with escort quests, probably because being an archer means I can stay far away from the Fray and so my escort is safe with me.
Also I take back all the bad things I said about the magic explosive arrows, that skill is fucking amazing. Bandits make themselves explode with them and the big monsters get utterly wrecked by the explosions.
So I'm about level 35 and my pawn is Fighter, has been from the start.
Have I fucked up? How do I unfuck him?
Also my Arisen was a strider until recently and is now an almost max rank Magick Archer, how do I improve them?
>tfw completed that quest at the first time
The whole quest was bullshit, especially that jungle where you get lost for hours
but worth it.
Striders are known for being the best all around pawns
Mages/sorcerers can be great if they're done right eg dont give them 8 randoms spells they don't need
Fighters can tank and take aggro and are great when done right
Rangers should be better than striders, but always fail to use the right abilities
Warriors are too timing oriented and pawns just don't do it right
I dont know if its the framrate increase or not but it seems to be more enemies every then from when I played on ps3.When i went to the shadowfort it was atleast 100 goblins on the way there...lol I had to turn on my exp boost and it lvl'd me up like 5 times wtf.I was like max vocation already geez.I havent even killed a chimera, drake or golem yet
Fighter pawns are fine. Just less tanky than Warrior pawns.
That isn't a problem if you've taught them how to block. Which you haven't have you? Might want to switch them to Warrior anyway just for Clout.
>got a knife from a case in CSGO
>it's ugly so I don't really want it
>halfway considering selling it for $140 steambux to buy DD
Should I do it? I've already played the shit out of DD on PS3 so I know I'll enjoy it, but I'm worried I'll regret selling it for steambux.
bow only/ challenger/mitigator/utilitarian and trained to use tenfold arrow, they also need maxed knowledge of every enemy.
it's a lot of work but once you got all this they will mow down everything with ease and just destroy their weakpoints
Whelp, I'm way passed that. Being my first playthrough, will I really notice anything different if I didn't know it was there? Sounds like such a stupid place for a side quest.
The initial reason Capcom gave as to why DD wasn't released for PC back in 2012 and 2013 was that they couldn't get the pawn system working on PC.
Guess that's still a problem for them.
No you fucking don't. Just switch to Fighter, get into an encounter with a couple of base enemy types and one or two large ones, and you'll have your pawn covered.
They just fucking copy you, dude. You're teaching him how to block and how to spam attack, that's all. You lose a couple of levels in Fighter, so what.
>play 20 hours
>have to restart because a side quest that unlocks an area and a tonne of other sidequests fails at an arbitrary non-pivotal point of the game's story
Dark as fuck, Pawn AI is shit they can't follow you straight (especially when you have 3 pawns) wolves everywhere.
Large waist types tend to look pretty crappy in DD armour.
You can complete sidequests in NG+
Not for a couple of hours if you're taking your time, you get them at most story locations.
>they can't follow you straight
Why is that a factor? They just fucking teleport to your location if you get too far ahead.
So did they fix the pawn system yet so you get paid for having your pawns rented?
also seconding this regarding BBI. I'm going to assume 100+ but not sure. It's the only thing i haven't tried from ps3.
25+,50+ and then I'd say 70+
It has 3 stages, upper, central, and lower. The lower you go, the harder it gets
40+, maybe 60+ for some of the harder rooms (chimera, gore chimera, hellhounds and wight comes to mind...)
my pawn's a strider. Best choice i made. There's a shitload of faggy healers and burly warriors in the pawn system.
Ensnare is godlike early game since they constantly trip bandits and almost everything else, while advanced trigger gets those pesky harpies on the ground permamently. That is unless the pawn just straight shoots them down with bow.
i put my pawn on healing mage until 30. now im going to level in in fighter for a while to balance things out
i chose strider for myself and the snare move is godlike, especially for bandits/skeletons that dont stagger when you strike them.
You need like 90 levels in Sorc for that min/maxed Knight man.
He's a caster with a melee attack and decent armour. That's the MK. Spam that one spell a bunch and enjoy your one second delay on blocking.
Anybody else riding with just one pawn and wrecking shit?Healers are pretty much easy mode..
>actually censoring nipples
Are those considered nsfw in america?
>Beds it out of the sky
I also get more immersed into the game for some reason.
changeing my pawns appearance to match mine was the best idea I ever had
Though I am probably gimping my party by being a sorcerer and not having any elemental buffs or anything but I don't care, that shit is boring
>played it friday night into early Saturday morning, all of Saturday that I was awake until early sunday morning and later part of Sunday
>39 hours on record
A weekend very well spent
**granted I feel asleep during my Friday night session, so I probably have 2-4 hours more than I should**
I'm having an absolute blast. Third time's the charm I guess, as I tried playing it twice before on PS3 but always lost interest and gave up part way through.
>have only played strider and assassin
>pawn has only been mage/sorc
>she's doing pretty well for not learning from me
>she also isn't mounting ever
>decide to try the drake out
>deck her with ice stuff
I'll mount it's back to strike!
Likewise. Going through BBI wouldn't have been as scary/atmospheric if I had 3 autistic children leaping around screaming at me from every direction. When every enemy targets you, shit gets a lot more tense.
Is the enemy pop-in bad and common? I was watching gameplay of the PC port and saw goblins popping in at ridiculously close proximity.
How do I overlevel if I'm level max, hm? And what kind of asinine logic is that? Anything that's worth doing is worth doing right, doesn't matter if it's an MMO or a single player game.
>tfw when plowing through the area 30 levels later
Again with some backwards-ass logic. I don't level up to win more easily as much as I do it to make my character feel better and more powerful which in itself is satisfying.
As it's, as you've pointed out, not an MMO how about you stop caring so much how other people play their game, hm?
Bitch deserves to be forever lost in those fucking woods for being dumb enough to go there.
>wtf did I fucking miss by 'failing' this quest
Do you read and listen to the game as you're playing it? Did the urgency of a girl that loves you going alone to CURSED woods for your sake completely go over your head?
my pawns are mostly meat shield distractions,
Though my pawn is kinda retarded at the moment since fuck training him to play his class properly when he is already doing practically what I need him to do which is attract attention to himself and away from me
>Go to Bluemoon Tower to kill the Griffon.
>Take the Portacrystal to use somewhere else.
>Five minutes later a Quest right back at Bluemoon Tower.
Stat growth is fun though. Instead of distributing points to min max, you can decide to min max by playing multiple classes instead of just playing one class for the whole game like a casual retard.
I spam Come! to make her follow me when I'm sprinting past groups. Mine turned into guardian after I spammed commands to make her stop stunning cyclops while I was trying to get their helmets off.
>you can decide to min max by playing multiple classes instead of just playing one class for the whole game like a casual retard.
You obviously dont understand how the stat system works if you think that
The current system promotes only one thing; you play Sorc/Assassin until level 200 to get the best stat growth.
reminder that if your pawn is a promiscuous girl, i will molest her
>you can decide to min max by playing multiple classes instead of just playing one class for the whole game like a casual retard.
Except there is only three classes out of nine that are relevant for minmaxing
Instead of having a system where you can play what you want and design a build you want, you HAVE to play ranger/assassin/sorc until level 200, then you get to play what you want.
Its literally one of the worst stat systems out of any RPG for ages.
>best stat growth
Are you retarded senpai?
Assassin gives you a total stat points of 58.
Sorcerer gives you 44 per level.
Fighter gives you 63 per level.
If you think 44 is bigger than 63, then yes, you're brain dead, congratulations.
Always check your quests and map.
Be sure to find Quina before you go to the Pawns Guild.
Do not take the Escort quest from the board promising 5000 gold.
Inclinations are more important than looks for designing your pawn.
Use your head if you're having trouble beating something. Sometimes it's a matter of equipment other times it's just plain tactics.
Stats don't even matter, you dumb nigger. The only people that are worried about stats are bads and autists. You could play Strider from 1 to 200 and have the shittiest stats and still rape Daimon and Death without a hitch.
>d-don't install n-nude mods guys, they will corrupt pawn data online
>get affected by sleep
>main pawn just stands there looking down on me
Where did I go so wrong in raising her?
>he thinks he has reached the final boss
The point of minmaxing is making the best possible character
HP/armor/magic resist and to a large extent stamina (due to the fact you have so much by 200) are all irrelevant in comparison to damage
But nice try in attempting to move the goalposts faggot, now fuck off.
>look at stat gains
>fighter and warrior are nearly identical
>warrior gains 1 attack more, 1 defense less
>fighter gains more HP than warrior at level 100+
Jesus, warrior is absolute dogshit.
Nobody would play it if not for their god tier augments, but once they're acquired there is no reason to stay as one.
I mistankingly rushed through the main story, being at the post-dragon at what feels like way too early I have already missed an assload of content already
Should I just aim for NG+ and completely ignore main storylines in my 2nd playthrough or should I wait for the pawn renting to be fixed so I can start from scratch? I fear that starting in NG+ will make things too easy
i thought i read that the game was basically unmoddable without serious dev tools thanks to capcom jewery, as in, just texture changes would be a monumental, cluster fuck of effort, never mind proper modded armor or nude mods?
>Nobody would play it if not for their god tier augments
And their far superior damage from longswords
And far superior damage from abilities
I swear at console release no one gave a flying fuck about stats, and they shouldnt now. Seriously, 200 damage difference is pretty much what you will see in damage between a minmaxed and non minmaxed player and thats like 1 upgrade for top tier weapons.
>quest to assault a fort
>"how bad can it be, it's just a bunch of shitty goblins"
>end up climbing and fighting 2 armored cyclopses while explosions from ballista bolts going off all around me
Make sure you buy the sword for your character and upgrade it, all in main square. After abyss I went and killed thieves near Witchwood. They were kinda sorta strong and I had to kite them a bit, but all encounters after this were easier. After I went on to kill lizards in Cassidiss well.
All these years I have written off this game as some kind of bad console shit like halo but it's genuinely the most fun I had in video games in recent times. literally everything just feels right in this game
Help me, /v/:
I'm a magick archer with and I have both http://dragonsdogma.wikia.com/wiki/Scalding_Razors and http://dragonsdogma.wikia.com/wiki/Bardiche_Daggers.
The Scalding Razors seem to do more damage due to their fire enchant, but it seems like many enemies are resilient to the damage (bandits especially), so is it worth it to switch to the physical-only daggers?
