Why are Mario/Nintendo platformers so praised?
I picked up Super Mario 3D World for wiiU today and played it. All the levels last 2 minutes and they're easy, what the fuck? I don't even know where to start with this.
It's a game meant for families anon, my mother and little brother really enjoy the game. If you want challenge go for the bonus levels and green stars.
the first worlds are tutorial levels and quite easy.
Almost a third of the content is postgame and quite challenging, the last game has champions road, which is the hardest Mario level ever, expect to lose over a hundred times there if you try to beat it with Mario and no power ups.
maingame is like 6/10 in difficulty
and crown world 10/10
While Champion Road was nice, it was literally the only level where you had to make an effort to beat.
Wish they made harder Mario games. They say Wool Yoshi is hard but i really doubt that.
>It's a game meant for families anon
this is why OP should just stop playing 3D Mario games pass Galaxy and just play the romhacks.
they aren't going to go full Kaizo on the levels anytime if they are going to leave a hand to casuals/"newblood" all the freaking time
I like platformers, I just don't understand the gameplay value of something so easy and quick. It's over before you know it.
I will do later on, sucks I have to emulate them though my pC is kinda shitty.
Yeah, I dont get it either, 3D world aint that good at all.
Mario 64 and Galaxy are god tier platformers however.
Unlocking Champions Road is actually harder than the level itself.
So much tedious and boring collecting it's surprising people get it done without falling asleep while playing
I still think they never had a 3D Mario in development, maybe it was pushed to the NX by now.
It feels more like it was supposed to be a sequel on the 3DS.
I mean, consider how in the beginning Bowser holds the bottled fairy towards the player/camera.
game is meant to be played as a comp platformer with 4 of your buddies. If you want a hard nintendo platformer on the WiiU you should have gotten Tropical freeze
>I mean, consider how in the beginning Bowser holds the bottled fairy towards the player/camera.
Are you trying to say that that was included to show off 3D or something?
He's just showing the players, mainly the younger ones that he just kidnapped the fairy and that she's not cool with it.
They're just showing that he's the bad guy.
>Platformers have to be Super Meat Boy/Kaijo mode to be good.
There's a million japs playing Super Mario Maker that are about to make your fucking day, OP.
>Are you trying to say that that was included to show off 3D or something?
I was disappointed with SM3DW, mainly because of the lack of any challenge (except for Champions Road)
But luckily Retro Studios didn't fail to deliver
Shut up DK, just mad he didn't inside Pauline after Mario whooped his ass
Game has a really slow difficulty curve but it actually gets harder. You must realize Nintendo makes games for everyone, not just for the long time fans but also for the newcomers.
Plus, unfortunately, many people complained with Nintendo about Galaxy games' difficulty. So they decided to tone it down in 3D Land and World. But yeah, the last 3D World levels are very challenging anyway, created exactly for long time fans.
>nintendo fanboys think this level is hard
compared to the rest of the game yes but having played the game I'd describe the difficulty as more like
>crown world 6/10
I dunno about toning down difficult so much as they made the 3D Land/Worlds games so you never have to worry about controlling the camera, which of course makes the game easier to play.
> I will do later on, sucks I have to emulate them though my pC is kinda shitty.
You can open vWii mode and download SM64 from the internets.
Also, there's Nintendont, which lets you play GC games on WiiU.
Why do they keep including this guy? He's easy as fuck. I genuinely believe no one could possibly die to him.
Is Super Mario Sunshine the hardest Mario game?
I bet you're playing alone you fucking retard. You're the kind of guy that buys Mario Party and plays against the CPUs and complain it's boring that you have no one else to play with.
3DW was a letdown for me, but I still enjoyed it, I guess. I was really hoping for a Galaxy 3, and instead I got the stupid isometric camera, short level, multiplayer game. Seriously, did the camera screw anyone else up? I had a hard time nailing jumps because I couldn't tell exactly where Mario would land. And I've 100%-ed every Mario platformer. And the final boss was terrible... you didn't even have to fight him Mario-a-mano.
Champion's Road won back some points, but still... we deserved a "real" Mario game.
3D world is not a good Mario game, sorry that 90% of this board is now run by retarded Reddit fanboys. How anyone can play the galaxy games and go into praise these insanely easy "land" games is beyond me
I'm sorry I'm not 10 years old anymore like you, just because a game has pretty colors n lots of zany sounds doesn't make it good. Maybe if you had a girlfriend you wouldn't spend so much time defending a game made for infants on an a Chinese cartoon forum
SM3DW is harder the more people you have playing it. If you beat everything on 1 player, congrats, you beat the easiest mode. Try completing the game 100% with 4 people, and I guarantee you will no longer think the game is "too easy".
where did this maymay come from?
Comes from some Omega Level Autists explaining how to glitch SM64 so you get a start with only pressing A not once but half-pressing it (this is another term he explains)
It involves running backwards into a wall for 25 hours
it was only hard because it
-had awful camera angles and was hard to not fall off of things
-did not have clear objectives
still was a great game, but i keep stopping at certain points just because it's boring after so long
Threads like these are as stupid and redundant as "does anybody else think_______?" threads
Its not universal if you don't get you don't get it. no one here is going to convince you otherwise.
I just love the strange designs of these levels.
>main game is 6/10
jesus christ. is this your first video game? there is literally zero urgency or skill needed for mario. 3d world is for all intents and purposes, shovelware because of how terribly designed and easy it is. its brainless open spaced trash
Because you'll get really fucking tired of doing that sequence of jumps for the hundredth time.
Because Mario games are for kids. They released Sunshine, game that was harder than 64 and everybody shat on the game. So they will keep re-releasing Mario 64 and Mario Land over and over.
This game shines mush brighter with multiplayer. Its seriously a ton of fun when you and your buddies are trying to get each other killed so they can be the one to score the most points.
Flippity dippity doo, here's your (you)
Funnily you are right. But the metroid analogy is retarded.
Why not use the the thing he said about 3d world and 3d land, that people dont want 3d games like mario 64 and sunshine and everything should be 2d so he made sure that newer marios will be dumbed down 2.5d with a useless 3rd axis that dosent add much to the gameplay.
Galaxy 1 is arguably as if not harder for some segments.
Sunshine is THE hardest if you do a no Jetpack/Rocket run.
Exception being any jump you have to use the Rocket for.
Cause you know those Fludd-less sections? Now the whole game feels like that.
