>get to second town (encampment)
>game throws fucking giant snake boss fight at you while you are like literally level 3
>cheese the snake and finally beat it
>go back to first town
>lizards in sewers that can fucking one shot you
>get quest in Witchwood
>there is no Witchwood on map
>look it up online
>easy as shit wolves and bandits
>suddenly, bandits that can one shot you and take 50+ hits to kill
This is the kind of shit console trash consider good? This feels like a beta that they are still trying to balance. No wonder this game flopped so hard. Would it have really been that hard to just have leveled enemies?
I don't get it, people keep bitching about this stuff but I don't get it, I never had problems with any of these things. I kind of had problems with the lizards at first but they were piss easy once I figured out to cut their tails, other than that I haven't had any problems at all.
Also I'm the kind of person who couldn't beat DaS2 or get past the congolala in MH
Mfw he's probably playing hard mode first time playing the game, and if not, he's ass because the snake boss is not even a full kill boss u just have to cut 1 head off.
To be fair, it always took me longer to cut the hydra's head off as a mage than as a strider or fighter.
But no level scaling is great. Nothing feels better than becoming stronger and being able to overcome enemies that wrecked your shit early on.
And if the bandits on the way to Witchwood are bothering you, just go at night. No bandits, just wolves.
all of your points are not issues except for that one bandit who can two shot you on the way to witchwood
plus the fact that he's hard to stagger and he'll just super-armor all the way through your attacks took me a couple of retries
>having to cheese the snake to beat it
You just climb on its head and cut it off... it's an extremely easy boss. I got cuck'd by the lizards though.
If you think he's bad, there was one anon on a total parade about how "bad" DD was. When confronted as to why he spewing hated, it was because he couldn't get past the prologue's Chimera. On Normal.
I don't want to be that anon, but why on earth is PC getting their asses so thoroughly handed by this game? It's not even that difficult. The same exact shit happened with Dark Souls and MGR
I beat DaS ezpz, but I can't for the life of me finish DaS2, even though all of my friends have beat it already. Which is why I'm saying, I don't know how people are bitching about DD being difficult at all, when someone like me is going through the game like it's fucking nothing.
I won't lie, I did die at the manticore my first time.
I was mostly just learning the controls and ended up staying iin the poison shit to long.
Never died since then on him though
Eh, don't really agree, as other anons have pointed out those are all pretty easy (apart from the lizards because as I recall I couldn't find a way out and wanted to come back later). However, the game dos seem to have weird difficulty spikes where you're obviously supposed to come back later, but the lack of indication before you enter can be a pain, I remember something to do with the water temple and it being quite easy to get to but hard inside, and in many cases I found myself having to engage an enemy to figure out how hard a quest was, but the game doesn't always give you a lighter scenario to figure it out. Still enjoyed the game, and I know people will probably just say gg, but there should be some way to figure out whether you're ready before travelling for a long ass time and engaging an enemy, although from what I recall this was only ever an issue for about the first ~10 hours anyway.
It's been a while, but it was the area after the boss that was kind of like a slug (he was easy as hell though) it's kind of like an egyptian looking place with cultists or something, but I remember absolutely skipping the rat area because I kept getting rekt.
Ah, Earthen Peak.
You only need to be careful with the mannequins and those flame-throwing women.
If you use a torch in the mechanism near the second bonfire it will stop the poisonous water, making the boss a cakewalk.
You should give it a second try.
I do kind of admit the game isn't brilliant at giving you clues to what level you should be, and you get them way too early
I tried A Fortress Beseiged at level 11 and didn't do enough damage to progress the fight fast enough; resulting in many mission failures
I get the whole 'There's no shame in fleeing an overpowering foe', but when you can't flee it and have to reload a checkpoint it's slightly fucking annoying
>suddenly, bandits that can one shot you and take 50+ hits to kill
Everything else is pure b8 in OPs post but this is true. I picked strider as my starting class
should've gone fighterand on the road to witchwood there's this bandit boss in metal equipment that takes no damage and can kill me in three hits. I don't remember this part being this hard in the console version, but that probably was because I had already got strenght gains as fighter.
I just killed the hydra and cleaned the sewer in the starting town. Suddenly the game told me about an island and a woman who you can only find at night transports you to said island.
Is that island the DLC content? can I ignore it for a while?
>finally kill an ogre down that mine after getting wrecked and retrying for half an hour
>right, now kill 2 more
>I did all these areas hard mode on my new characters and managed to get buy
You ain't seen nothing till a bat swoops down and chunks you for half of your health.
My pawn hasn't been hired once, yet I can hire other pawns perfectly fine. I know Fighter pawns aren't too popular but even two years after the 360 launch I'd still get mine hired once a day. I'm using ReShade, does it impact online functionality?
I have like 20 quests that don't actually mark the map and I have no idea where the fuck to go. How do I know where "abbey vicinity" and "witchwood" are?
Will I know when I've discovered the witchwood? Will it be labelled on my map?
Have you remembered to rest in inns? Otherwise your pawn won't go into net. Fighters are in demand if you ask me, as I play a strider and my main pawn is mage so we need somebody to bang the drum.
Did you remember to make your pawn a fapbait?
You want bullshit?
Try accidentally accepting an escort quest to take the village elder to goddamn shadow keep, wherever the fuck that was. I only knew as far as gran soren and it was a hell of an adventure to find the way, open the way, kill everything in the way, including >>324266131
without the old fuck getting murdered.
Fair enough, probably didn't help that I spent the early portion of the game testing out various classes and styles, but again that's probably given with the game, and it seemed to have a pretty flexible system so I assumed it wouldn't hurt too much to switch about.
Switching is actually the better option in normal mode. You get pretty good stats in all areas so you can be whatever you want, rather than fucking everything up by playing mage for the whole game and then switching to warrior. Minmaxing is only needed in hard mode and not really even there.
>Spend 30 min customizing my character
>Fairly proud with the result
>Once I start playing I notice I've accidentaly given him unwanted chub
>5000 Rift Crystals and the Pawn system is broken
>be a fragile-ass strider
>tickle their asshole with a pair of daggers till their tail flies off
>they are no longer a threat
Seriously, nigga. Once you get the dodge roll nothing slower than it is a threat.
I don't want to be that anon, but why on earth is PC getting their asses so thoroughly handed by this game?
Probably just carelessness. I like naked SL1 running DaS for fun but I find DD completely un-involving. I'm not even paying attention to the game half the time. I look away and a bandit hits me and I die.
There is a mod someone has made to alter your characters appearence without the scroll of metamorphosis or whatever it's called.
https://www. reddit .com/r/DragonsDogmods/comments/411awg/trainermain_charactermain_pawn_ingame_editor/
Yeah i know but it's the only place I know where to find it.
>restarted the game 3 times
God damn it I don't know what class I want. At least I'm good at clearing the first 30 minutes.
>Bohhooooo Skyrim sucks the enemy levels up as you do, so you never really get a true challenge
>Bohooo buaaa Dragons Dogma sucks, theres some zones in the game which are intended for higher levels
As a PC gamer who stopped using consoles since the PS2, I think it's the average PC gamer being unused to third-person action games, or even "arcade-ish" games in general.
The most popular genres on PC are first person shooters and MOBAs so it's to be expected.
>Would it have really been that hard to just have leveled enemies?
I don't like you.
Yeah I know that but then I spent points on skills and they weren't too great. Like all the Warrior skills which I was excited to play and all google told me was "yeah but they jump attack good!"
Then I tried Mystic Knight and it was all "Okay buff your shield and maybe the enemy will come hit it", am I suppose to use staffs?
Maybe I'll try archery next.
>Being this shit at videogames.
I've played some hard games in my time and Dragon's Dogma is not one of them (except maybe the Dark Arisen content). You can just summon strong pawns if you can't figure it out yourself, they put that system in just in case bitch ass nigguz like yourself were incapable of clearing the most basic content.
Don't worry about spending points you get them by the bucket load, the game encourages you to change classes so it's plentiful with the amount of points you can spend. Some of the classes don't really shine until you increase their vocation significantly so don't be put off if a class doesn't work too good at first.
Stats don't help anywhere near as much in this game as gear does, gear is a lot more important than min-maxing your stats.
Obviously levelling a warrior to 100 and then switching to sorcerer isn't the best of ideas but you can change classes multiple times and it won't gimp your character. Min-maxing will help a little but gear is more important in this game, you don't need to min-max to be able to clear all the content.
This. I imagine the people complaining are using all offensive skills and complaining they have no defensive maneuvers. At least one defensive skill should be mandatory so these fucking spastics can stop complaining, the tools are there, use them.
The jump attacks are good but the warrior is really good at dealing big damage to multiple enemies at once. It has huge arc attacks that make fighting groups really satisfying. It also has Arc of Might which is a hilarious one-shot move that if you actually manage to pull off can fuck up the toughest enemies.
I won't like though, warrior doesn't offer as much as an Assassin or a Magick Archer and you do rely heavily on pawns to cover the bases you can't. It's not for everyone but I guarantee if you stick with it you'll have quite a lot of fun.
Sometimes your pawn wont have the right buffs you need for a particular enemy, or they are swamped by enemies and cant buff you when it runs out. Most people take to carrying multiple weapons to get around this, dont worry about that now though, only in BBI will elements really matter.
if you know youre going for a fight say "help" and the pawn will buff you and youre team, if they use the wrong buff then pick them up and put them down, repeat till they gt the right buff if they have several equipped. Again, this is stuff you dont really need at the moment, its more important on BBI.
Warriors are walking tanks with AoE swings and burst damage. About the only shitty thing about them is the fact they can only use 3 skills.
But yeah, that jump attack is fucking great tho tbqhf
The only me is me. Are you sure the only you is you?
They screamed generic shit like "It keeps growing back", "Let's get those tentacles" and so one. None of the fuckers said anything about leaving. The closest thing was "Are we even doing any damage?" but that I just ignored.
They didn't say to run to me either.
But honestly I had fun, only realized we had to run after killing a tentacle and suddenly all the other tentacles went from half health to full health. Shit was fun, just wished that Pawns didn't continue trying to fight them as we were running away and I was mashing F2.
I know I probably could have left them behind but I would have felt bad. Fuck all those baths though. Almost killed me.
Depending on if you have a pawn in your party who has done that quest they will say different things, youve either a pirated version of the game or very low level party. If one of the pawns has done the quest they will tell you "its too strong! we must run!" where if they havent done the quest before they will just comment on what the situation, not the quest itself.
Youll find at times pawns will be saying "I know the way master" and would run off ahead of you, this is a pawn that has done the quest you are currently on. Pawns actually do act differently depending on their knowledge m8.
Also you can counterfeit them for just 350gold after getting one.
Potions just get duplicated so you at least can guarantee that you get the behavior you want with just one potion.
I forgot about going to Witchwood before you do the lure of the abyss quest now I'm locked out of Selene's heart
Probably not. You'll have to do some of the quests in the basement of the pawn guild to earn RC (the first one is easy because the objective is on the chimeny right next to where the prayerbook was back in your hometown), then go to the peddler in the encampment by the riftstone and buy a potion of the kind you want. You don't have to worry about buying more than one though because you can dupe them cheap at the Black Cat in Gran Soren.
>have tons of trouble with the one in the catacombs because it went ape shit at a sliver of health
>change to warrior to fuck around, do the quest you mentioned
>oh god oh god
>wait a minute it's running off with my female pawns
>MONSTER HUNTER GREATSWORD CHARGE TO THE ASS
>knocking them around with air light attacks
>kill all 3 taking no damage
why is warrior supposed to be bad again?
how long does it take for a pawn to come back with items? My friend says he keeps sending me shit and I haven't gotten anything after resting at inns.
I really hope people are getting all the hoes I am sending back with their slutty elves.
That's the only place to change the vocation, isnt it?
I was talking about Madeleine and Reynard, there's another merchant there?
Grand Soren is huge, I still haven't eplored it properly.
Notice how many people are actually talking about Dragon's Dogma
I was a strider at the time. I took advantage of the cliff overlooking the room and spend almost an hour sniping them. If for whatever reason they actually managed to jump onto the ledge, I could just back up enough and they would go back to the lower level. It kind of felt like cheating but I needed the experience and I knew I wasn't a high enough level.
Thanks. So, in my case I need Challenger, right?
I think I maxed out Scather during pawn creation becuase description "Pick strongest enemies" seemed good enough. Fuck.
That's what I'm doing.
I just want to confirm if I understand it correctly: To make my Ranger pawn focus on Bow instead of Daggers I need it to have high Challenger and low Scather.
Also the wiki says Utilitarian can't properly function alone. But can't the Arisen fill the role of the second Utalitarian?
I picked a random Fighter pawn in the rift and she constantly grabs some of the stronger foes and I beat the crap out of them. That made the difference when getting past those fucking Warrior bandits OP mentioned.
>implying I don't already know all their faddy little tricks
DAILY REMINDER THAT IF YOU'RE SHIT AT THE GAME, YOU CAN GO BACK TO CASSARDIS AND BUY THROWBLASTS. THESE WILL FUCK UP ANYTHING GIVING YOU TROUBLE IN THE EARLY GAME (OR LATE FOR THAT MATTER). THEY 1HKO GOLEM MEDALS, STAGGER CYCLOPS, OGRES, WYVERNS, CHIMERAS AND DAMAGE THINGS LIKE THOSE FAGGOT GARGOYLES FROM BBI. THEY LET YOU KILL MIMICS INCREDIBLY EARLY, JUST 6 THROWBLASTS FOR EZ 20K+ RC AND BBI ITEMS. YOU WANT EASY MODE, YOU FUCKING BUY THROWBLASTS. YOU CAN ALSO BUY INFINITE EMPTY VIALS IN GRAN SOREN AND FILL THEM UP AT A HEALING SPRING FOR FREE 300 HP GROUP HEALS. DON'T GIVE THEM TO YOUR MAIN PAWN THOUGH.
>To make my Ranger pawn focus on Bow instead of Daggers I need it to have high Challenger and low Scather
I guess so. I'm also new to the game so can't answer everything, sorry.
ITT nobody is willing to admit japan sucks and video games now
also on a similar note, souls and bloodborne are overrated shit too. over zeleous cucks market the souls series extra hard because its mediocre shit instead of total shit, so they pretend its the best shit ever
Armor in DD works in an oldschool way, where it doesnt block a % of your attacks, but for instance, if an armor blocks 200 attack, and the attack of the weapon is 200, you're gonna do literally 0 damage
>Warning: Skipping this quest causes several quest lines to be unavailable and the east side of the Witchwood will remain permanently sealed off, which is the only area where King Bay Leaf grows.
>This quest may still be undertaken until Lure of the Abyss is completed.
I never understood why people don't immediately go back to Cassardis and start that quest. That fat fuck literally hoofs it all the way to the encampment to tell you that your cousin went missing. What kind of shit family member are you that you wouldn't atleast check it out?
He couldn't get past the Chimera? But the game continues even if you die. Or maybe that's just on Hard.
Fuck you all.
I abandoned that shitty bandit quest like you said I had to do. The next fucking quest is a 40 minute escort mission and if you fail (which you will because of the literal armies of goblins and harpies), you have to restart the whole thing.
I finally slogged through it...only to get this shit. After fighting this monster for almost an hour, I looked it up, and its literally invincible.
I'm done with the game. Uninstalled already.
>Helping this trashcan
OP is proven to be a casual faggot. Can't wait for mods to archive this.
Is Inflection still bugged? Last I heard it doubled the damage you took while casting spells, rather than halving it.
This game has some serious issues. Not the difficulty, because its very manageable, but the enemy variation is trash. Been playing for 14 hours and I'm getting tired of seeing goblins and wolves on the roads. Fucking trash game, it makes me so angry. It would even be okay if you didn't have to spend so much time on the roads, the travelling time are abysmal and there's nothing to do or look at while you travel since every enemy is the same and there are no noteworthy landmarks that you feel like exploring because the loot is garbage too.
I was tricked into buying this, will I ever get to see new enemies past the fucking griffin and is there a way to cut down the atrocious travelling
>ITS TENTACLES SPAWN WITHOUT END
>The loading screen tells you not to be afraid of running
You're absolute trash at vidya. You know running away is really viable all game? You don't have to kill everything.
I didn't run the first time
Next time one of my pawn's dissapeared and my loli died so I grabbed my loli and tracked back up jumping to dodge attacks
My loli still dodge-jumps and it reminds me of our adventures
Go to bitterblack isle if you're so great. Lots of enemy variation there. Use portcrystals to place warp points that you can warp to with ferrytones. You get one doing the everfall quest, which is 10 minutes into getting to gran soren. Buy ferrystones from Fournival or at the black cat. I think the PC version just fucking gives you the eternal ferrystone as well.
Not to mention that there are like 3 inns in the whole game, meaning you are travelling at night a lot of the time where you can see literally nothing outside of a 10 foot radius around you. Its not even hard, just boring as shit.
well nuts. I was trying to go to it before I took the hydra head to Gran Soren, and went down the path with the wolves and the bandits that push a big rock down at you, and all the big bandits could two shot me so I figured it was too high a level area and went to Gran Soren and did a bunch of stuff. Did I take a wrong path or are you just supposed to fight through the four or five successive encounters of bandits?
No, doing quests is what got the game so boring. Did too many quests that had me travel that boring ass canyon. The world is too dull to sustain that sort of repetition.
Did not know about eternal travelstone, thanks. That'll help a bit
>painstakingly craft my character with love and attention to detail for 30 minutes
>he has different colored eyebrows compared with his hair
FUCK THIS SHITTY CHARACTER CREATION SCREEN. YOU CAN'T ZOOM IN FAR ENOUGH
When's the soonest I can change my character's appearance?
You should be able to change the color at the Barber in Gran Soren. If you get enough RCs you can buy the character/pawn customization scroll from Jonathan in the Encampment ASAP which allows you to customize your character/pawn infinitely from the main menu.
Never, you're fucked and should start over immediately.
>which allows you to customize your character/pawn infinitely from the main menu
He doesn't start selling that until post-game. The one he has before post-game can only be bought once and only works once.
Reminder to those of you that need rift crystals but cant get due to current broken pawns
Do the from another sky questline, available from the notice board in the basement of the pawn guild
it gives like 200k rift crystals total, spread throughout it
You lose a lot
>Quina and another love interest
>Another Quina quest line
>early semi unique boss fight
>materials you can't get anywhere else
>affinity item you can't get anywhere else
>amazing health items from mentioned questline you can't get anywhere else
I can never tell if these kind of people are baiting or just purely pathetic at vidya.
I can't tell if people are baiting or just plain suck at this game
This is what's available before post-game.
This is what's available in post-game.
The little swirly icons on your map and mini-map showing riftstones aren't there just for show.
Increase your level before doing literally the 4th or so quest in the game? That argument is getting old. It's you know a usable argument if you are 6 hours into the game and you are trying to do a main story mission. But for fuck sakes, you can literally get the sewer quest right after you do the tutorial and it's a side quest at that.
When will you cucks admit that the balance in this game is fucking horrible?
>i have to beat every enemy
>even though my pawns say that fleeing is an option
>not getting the flame weapon that is like a small walk away
people like you are the reason why games becoming more and more easy
You are just meant to block twice against the heavy bandits so you can break their stance then they can be treated like regular bandits and you beat em down when they fall over or you could use heavy attacks to make them fall over and let your pawn or yourself grab them. ez peazy lemon squeezy m8.
Bait aside, is anyone actually having problems with this game? No level scaling is awesome, and if you are moving into an area that might be too dangerous the pawns tell you. And you can always just run from tough enemies. No shame, Arisen.
>I abandoned that shitty bandit quest like you said I had to do. The next fucking quest is a 40 minute escort mission and if you fail (which you will because of the literal armies of goblins and harpies), you have to restart the whole thing.
it doesn't even take that long and those enemies are easy to kill as long as you use fire
>I finally slogged through it...only to get this shit. After fighting this monster for almost an hour, I looked it up, and its literally invincible.
no shit your pawns literally tell you this when it pops up
Jesus Christ you people need to listen to your pawns
In between the time you can first accept that quest and the cutoff you can do 5 or so other sidequests, and 2 notice boards worth of genocide, not to mention combat xp. That gets you enough levels to not explode.
If you're still having trouble there should be some overpowered outfits in storage.
>casting Holy Affinity on myself
>just spam Holy Focused Bolt
works for so much shit
and in case I need physical damage, I can always just cast High Gicel and let my pawns aggro for a while
