Dynasty Warriors thread
>Weapon: Throwing Knives
>Death: Dian Wei
I am pretty tempted to say Guan Ping for all of those, certainly character and musou.
Sun Jian gets some pretty good death scenes.
Alternatives for weapon are either Zhang Liao, either his halberd, or his twin axes, o Yueying's dagger-ax.
Also where's the favourite BGM, and favourite character theme for Battle of Fan Castle, and Teary Edge respectively?
Wang Yi's straddle-stab
Whatever Zhao Yun's spear is called
A cumulative total of Wu strategists.
They fuck everything up if you craft them and put nice stats on them. Moreso than other weapons because they pierce through groups of enemies and build up a full bar of your musou from like half a combo.
That list more for how much I like them as characters over their weapon movesets.
Weapon-wise from my list, I love Zhao Yun, Sun Jian, Guan Yinping, Zhou Tai, Zhang Liao, Yueying, Lu Meng, and Dian Wei.
Guan Yu, Zhang Fei, Lu Bu, Huang Gai all have fun weapons too
Gan Ning (DW3)
This is a very tough one, in DW8 it's either Throwing Axes or Lightning Sword
Cao Cao, by far the best leader of the bunch
Oh and let me add:
>Favorite Orochi character
>Favourite Ken's Rage character
>Favorite Dragon Quest Heroes character
Although I really like the newer Warriors games, I still miss the Duel Mode from DW3. It was so much fun (and still is) and needs a resurrection.
Zhou Tai for gameplay and Cao Cao for story.
That one sword that Zhou Tai has in 7 that lets him absurdly zip around the battlefield with jump cancels.
I remember having a ton of fun with Ma Chao in 4, too.
Cao Cao, by far and away.
I'm a lot more attached to the Samurai games as a whole despite starting with Dynasty.
Zhou Tai's multi-hit slash
Li Dian's Whirligig Saw
Xun Yu, forced to commit suicide for the monster he helped create
This. Went down like a true nigga.
Character: Zhang He or Xiahou Ba(dat rocket spear)
Weapon: Siege Spear
>cow cow will penetrate enemy lines from the east
>while soon jian attacks from the west
>the volunteer forces will break through the middle and join the other two forces!
From the first time I saw him, to this day still, I think Liu Shan looks fucking evil. He's like a Chinese Johan Liebert.
I'll add based JYAMADA to that list of favorites.
So him, He and Ba.
Wei had a good amount of likable characters, followed by Wu. Shu on the other hand, is a bit iffy. Like they needed to fill space.
Sun Jian's aerial musou
7 had alot of sad ones. But Cao Cao's was definitely the most memorable.
I don't know if it's just me or not, but I feel like DW has better characterization than SW does. I just bought SW4 II a month ago, and I don't like any of the characters.
Gan Ning from DW 3. That musou was dope as hell.
Cao Pi's Dual Blade.
Guan Ping or Dian Wei.
Adding my own too.
Evil Festival from DW 4 https://youtu.be/RVTnyW4gx9o. Best fucking track.
I don't remember the last time I saw any of the cut scenes.
Best in the genre (of what I've played) in order:
Hope so. Heard they're revamping it, I just hope they are a bit more careful this time so we don't end up with a DW 6 again.
I hope they just add character. The more the merrier in my opinion. Hope they add Cheng Pu, Cao Hong & some other benevolent fuckboi from shu. No idea who to add to Jin honestly. Their roster was solid as hell.
Right game, wrong track, friend
I haven't played SW4 or SW4-II yet, but I personally felt the opposite as you when I played the SW Chronicles games. SWC puts a lot of effort into getting to know each individual character.
I felt that DW thrived in telling an over-arching story but had very weak characters and SWC thrived in getting me attached to the characters but had an unfocused narrative.
Don't embarass yourselves, families.
Rarely does DW drop characters, it mostly adds on more and more and more until there's so many there's not enough screen time to develop them all in the story.
Early Gan Ning was the shit.
Also, who /goodgoy/ here?
They're kinda niché games in the west and you can comfortably bro out.
>yfw you're attacked by Lu Bu at Hu Lao Hate in
DW4 on a fresh character
They're rather niche, and being a fan takes a special kind of tolerance for ridiculous bullshit and accepting the game for what it is. We've all heard the negativity before and even agree with some of it.
Just ordered DW 8 extreme on PS4, last one I played was 2 ages ago.
Wanted to have a chill game with couch co-op and I remember this series being simple enough for anyone to have fun in.
My favourite dude was the guy with the big sword, also that yellow turban guy always made me laugh.
I noticed that, too. They're just that niche that in order for people to get into them, you'd need to mix them with another IP. I played DW1, but HW was the game that got me properly introduced into Musou.
It's nice, being a small community of fans. And I hope it stays that way.
>that fucking battle
I still am traumatised by fighting him. He's harder than He Fei Zhang Liao by a fucking mile. That fucker will single handedly wipe out your entire right side of your army because of his fucking crazy ass hyper-mode. Fuck him.
>Co-oping DW4 with my big brother back on release day
>Didn't know shit about Chinese history or RTK
>Didn't even know it was inspired by Chinese history or RTK
>Just used our created OCs and never any of the real characters
>Framerate dropping to the single digits in big battles
>Didn't care about framerate dropping to single digits in big battles
>Not understanding how the split story paths worked and instead killing the Yellow Turbans over and over and over
Those were the days.
Musou games are great for couch co-op, you feel like fighting with your rival.
You might be onto something.
I had played DW4 as a kid but didn't really get too deep into it and didn't care for pursuing the source material. Pokemon Conquest of all things was the game that urged me to try another Musou and pay attention to the story this time.
Well, I got into them with the DW2 demo that came with some magazine back in the day, loved the whole Musou branch ever since. But they're definitely niche in the west, which I'm totally fine with, because if you happen to meet a fan, you're almost guaranteed to get along.
>Talking to a coworker and he mentions Dynasty Warriors
>Get all excited
>Ask if he was Wu, Wei, or Shu
>He doesn't know what I'm talking about
>Soon became very clear he just played it as a kid for a few hours and forgot 99% of it
Please name one person in the entire series that can beat Zhou Tai.
>Cao Cao is but a pebble in the road to me. I shall crush him into the foundation of my dynasty!
I really loved Guan Du in that game. I would always try my best to save Song Xian and Wei Xu at the start.
probably Zhuge Liang's
I really hope they stop overdesign the weapons in the next DW, almost all weapons look like bulky crap
they should go back to simplier design even for the last weapons, like in DW5
You should know why, too.
New to Dynasty Warriors, where do I start/how? Best game(s), platforms? I played some Hyrule Warriors and liked the idea of running through entire armies like some kind of weeb hero jackass.
my nigga, that was going to be the next line that I was going to quote. I have a cousin I grew up with, and we played the shit out of DW4 and we always laughed at the quotes
speaking of Yuan Shao, we always laughed at him and Hua Xiong at Si Shui
>ARE THERE NO WARRIORS WHO CAN DEFEAT HUA XIONG!?
>Hua Xiong: YOU WANNA TAKE ME ON?
>stomp Hua Xiong in a duel
>Hua Xiong has been slain? BY WHOM?
That's up to you. Some people say start off with DW8, but you got other games to look into as well(Samurai Warriors, etc). Heads up, you don't have a run option in DW, you gotta get some Pegasus boots or ride a horse to get any speed going on.
And the maps will confuse you.
>First, we will all attack Ling Ling.
>Then, Zhao Yun will go to Gui Yang, Zhang Fei to Wu Ling.
>Hahaha! I will destroy them all!
Ma Chao or Zhao Yun can't choose
Ma Chao R2 grab musou in DW7E/DW8
I don't know.
What reasons would there be to play SW4 or SW4-II if I've already played SWC3? Graphics and huge kill counts do not matter to me.
"You're in too deep. Control Yourself!"
Dynasty Warrior sucks.
I picked it 8 Empire on the PS4 and holy shit is this game boring as fuck.
I just run around killing people and capturing bases.
Why does no one ever mention the AI. You have a hundred dumb chinaspearman mass around you doing nothing.
Holy waste of money.
I like the edgy girl in blue who has those two sticks.
Be weary. The core concept is the same, but you're not going to be mowing down hundreds of troops in the blink of an eye in that one like in HW.
If this is acceptable, good luck and have fun.
>Avoid 1, 2 and 6
>No real reason to play 4 or 5 either, stick to the following first
>Play 7 (best story, good gameplay)
>If you liked 7 and want to see the best DW game from the past, play 3
>If you liked 7, don't care for PS2 games and want better gameplay instead, play 8
>Hua Xiong has been slain? BY WHOM?
>mfw I realised that cutscene changes for every playable character
Man, there was so many deaths and the acting was so bad I couldn't take them seriously. Maybe I should just play with the Japanese voices.
Wang Yi or Lu Lingqi
I honestly can't remember them it's been so long since I played.
Trident (Yue Jin)
i'm a total Weifag
also, Xing cai needs her warfork back, get rid of the sword.
