Refunding this piece of shit
Thanks /v/ for making me fall for the meme
I knew everything about this game was garbage but you told me combat was amazing, but the combat is literally spam left mouse button as fast as you can.
Fuck OP DD thread.
I started a strider because I want to be a magic archer but my bow is doing SHIT ALL damage
Should I just rush to Gran Soren to switch to mage for now? And If I go down that well and I going to get my ass handed to me like I did at that bandit house?
I agree with OP except I pirated it.
Combat is shit. No fast travel either and people say "fast travel is easy mode"
Not having fast travel doesn't make it difficult it's just boring.
Bosses are easy too, just have ridiculous amounts of health making them boring as well.
Tl;dr Tedious : The game
>Talk to NPCs
>They have the most boring and pointless dialogues
>Skip every single dialogue
>Get 50 quests
>Open quest menu and read what they are
>"Kill 10 wolves"
>"Kill 7 spiders"
>Escort NPC from point A to B"
>"Kill 10 bandits"
>"Go pick me up that item and come back"
>Realize I'm playing some garbage korean MMO
>cant handle the truth you fucking faggot?
>this game is literal trash and you can tell it as soon as you start playing.
>No fast travel either
false, there's a very nice fast travel system in place, but I guess the bandits after the encampment killed you and you gave up.
Except the game never asks you to kill those enemies again, yeah it's a bunch of quests to waste you time, but they aren't repetitive, and if properly planned can be accomplished while doing the main quests. The escort missions are so you'd visit those places, and if carefully planned can be combined with main story quests, and are just free experience.
I didn't buy the game, but it's pretty good. You need to give it some time and patience though.
Glad I'm not the only one.
People kept posting these gay images saying Dragon's Dogma's combat blows every other game out of the water, but it feels like a goddamn offline Korean MMORPG.
Remember those cool webms of a guy charging a great sword and killing a large monster in one hit? It looked pretty cool right? Well it's not worth the fucking trouble.
Played for 2 hours then refunded it. If you liked it then more power to you, but I can't seem to enjoy it myself.
Serves you right. In this day and age where you have youtube and streaming to see for yourself before buying, not to mention the pirate version was available like a week before.
I'm glad I waited to see how it is, what a piece of shit game, and this is what /v/ was praising
>expect any sort of challenge in the first 5 hours
Honestly the game is a fucking bore. I attacked some cyclops early on, and despite being seemingly too low level to beat him (since I did completely shit damage, even when stabbing/shooting him in the eye) I managed to beat him easily without having any sort of strategy in mind. The game is so mindless
>mfw I believed the hype
>mfw got bored after 2 hours
Never believing /v/ again.
Anyone know where the pirated save file is located?
guys im kinda lost, what items can i sell and which should i hold on to
>tfw they confirmed my refund
I'm going to preorder XCOM 2 and play darkest dungeon
it's sad to see so many people who can't appreciate dragon's dogma, it's like the console release all over again
>wtf why isn't there any fast travel?
>dude this fucking bandit just 2 shot me what the hell
>wow pawn ai is shit, all they did is just follow me and don't do anything
>it's been 2 hours and I haven't fought a single dragon. I thought this was supposed to be better than skyrim.
>There are people this dedicated to shit posting that they will but a game they had no intention to play, refund it, take screenshots of the refund process and post on /v/ about it.
I tried to warn you fags but you just called me an idiot, just like JC3.
Enjoy your game faggot.
always do the opposite of what /v/ says
>/v/ says not to play warrior because it isn't fun
>mfw i'm belgian
>mfw faggots get mad at me for liking the game
Sage just allows you to post without bumping the thread. This isn't reddit you POS teen crossposter. While I think OP is a retard that should have looked into the gameplay before buying it, I'm bumping just to spite you.
i bought mgs v ground zeroes just to give it a shitpost review and get everyone on the steam community mad
it was worth it
You could literally just watch some random video and see how the game played out before you bought it. Some dumb folks around these parts
I can't understand how people can handle that stutter effect
if you want to make the game harder, hire fewer pawns. don't hire a mage.
is just retarded, does nothing but increase the amount of damage you take and nothing else.
If you're talking about the Cyclops just outside the fort then you're seriously retarded, it was obviously injured of course it was easy since it was missing like half its health.
ITT babbies who were expecting Skyrim and got a Japanese Action RPG instead
so is there a next "rank" of the level 1 shield/1h warrior? i wanna stay being a fat tank or do i have to be that greatsword warrior? i cant remember the exact name
hey so i re-installed the game today and now steam doesnt add my saved file that i played yesterday. So am i fucked or is there a way to get them back? put to many hours in this shit to redo all this crap again.
>tfw using warriors jumping strong attack
Just pirated this shit, will surely buy if it amuses me enough in the first 5 hours.
Playing with a controller, got any advices?
I was tricked into buying DD by
Sorry Anon's that you didn't enjoy Dragon's Dogma as much as I did. Better luck next time.
because I'm not a complete brain dead moron who bases all this decisions on what /v/ says, anon. you silly billy.
I'm talking about the one by the waterfall you fucking nignog
I've played without followers too (I had it for xbox and never followed up on subscription)
I 1v1'd a cyclops at an early level, and it wasn't difficult at all, but it literally took an in game day to beat since I did so little damage, not exactly rewarding or engaging combat
You mean, true, naive fun like before i was diagnosed with chronic depression?
I don't know man, that's a forgotten dream of mine.
It's a cheap trick to make an attack feel powerful, just like screenshake. I don't need hitstop when my attacks are all knocking enemies on their asses and up into the air. If you like it that's fine, but there are better ways to make attacks feel powerful.
>go outside the first village into the woods at night
>easy kill like 5 wolves, think the wolf pack was a decently cool feature
>walk 3 meters
>another 5 wolves, well okay i guess that pack was larger
>walk another 5 metres, 5 wolves again, ok, whatever i just kill them.
>walk another 5 metres, 5 wolves again... they are really pushing it with the wolves.
>repeat atleast 20 further times until you get to the witch hut
That shit was tedious, i dont think its fun smashing the same cluster of mobs 20 times in a row.
What is this wolf hunting simulator 2016 now with extra wolves?
Possible but unlikely. Depending on how many talented people care you can expect some model swaps for existing armors, reskins, etc. Entirely new stuff? Wouldn't count on it but stranger things have happened.
Why the FUCK do they hide an "infinite ferrystone" in your inn storage and never tell you about it? Finding this made the game so much more enjoyable for me.
The first few hours of the game are honestly complete garbage, a lot of anons are pretty experienced with the game so they've forgotten just how awful the beginning is when you've got no clue what to do.
Try powering through up to the main city, then see if you're enjoying the experience at all whilst doing the "Wyrm Hunt" questline.
Because the people hyping it up are the people for whom the game appealed greatly to. Every other 500 post DD hype thread there were one or two people saying "guys I played it and it's cool but it's not the second coming, you're going to be disappointed if you expect that", but people ignored them.
Please don't be a shitposting retard anon. Please.
>The first few hours of the game are honestly complete garbage
So like Dark Souls, Stalker, The Witcher, Morrowind and pretty much every single game that /v/ likes because reasons?
I accept this challenge, good sir, /v/ has never failed me, and these games amused the fuck out of me.
This. Thing is, repetitive, identical and mind-numbing processes appeal to casual and low IQ minds, hence the general appeal regarding this game.
tl;dr Only casuals can appreciate this game to it's fullest, the summary of their rationalization behind it equating "muh combat".
>tfw no berserk weapon and armor AT ALL
this place already was like a scene from berserk.. fuck
>Heh, I beat a tutorial monster with a ton of allies with no strategy. This game is clearly too easy for a master like me!
I would bet money this dude is going to be back in a hour bitching about how hard the bandits are and how it's bad game design he can't beat them.
I don't get why retards buy RPGs and complain that they aren't raping everything in the first hour even though they have no skills and shitty equipment.
That was his point. When told that hitstop is a cheap effect for affect a sense of powerful attacks he went with the shitposting retard technique of acting like the game can only be compared to the witcher, skyrim, or dark souls.
>I don't get why retards buy RPGs and complain that they aren't raping everything in the first hour even though they have no skills and shitty equipment.
because games like skyrim convinced people you can play rpg games like first person shooters, where stats do not actually matter but just how retardely huge\big\cool\edgy the weapon is
edgier = more powerful
I don't understand how retarded people are. Name one game you've gotten incredibly hyped for that not only matched or exceeded your hype, but has sustaining power. I'm sure there are a few, but probably not many at all.
Now think of all the games you played with little to no expectations that blew you away.
It's almost as if getting hyped about something without any sort of grounded information on what to expect is going to result in disappointment no matter what the game is.
The only reason I was warning you is because the game does get good, it's just that the beginning is tedious as fuck and put a lot of people off.
This >>324164735 guy gives you a good idea of what to expect, and he didn't even list all of the problems with it.
>Played 100 hours on xbox
>loving every minute
mfw nude mod released on the first day
OP here I loved morrowind btw
And what you described is Dragon's Dogma
Even with the shittiest dagger in the game you can just come up to enemy and keep him in stun lock by spamming left mouse button until he dies
>mfw you have to rationalize your dislike of a game by saying it's for casuals
>mfw you're too stupid to realize calling people causal on /v/ is satirical
>mfw you bought into it like a fuccboi
Cut lizard tails, always bring curatives, uh...I dunno. Do some other quests first? I'm not trying to imply you're a baddie but every encounter thus far has been totally trivial for me and for most of them I only had my own pawn + default starter pawn Rook. The only thing that's given me an ounce of trouble has been the first escort quest, and that's because you can't directly heal allies by going into the menu and using curative items, and if you're not a mage yourself then you have to rely on pawns to heal the useless escort NPC.
there's 0 wolf mods between cassardis and the encampment, 2 wolf mobs between the encampment and the path through the hills
1 large mob in the path
1 wolf mob between the path and the woods
there's like 5 mobs of bandits on the same route, care to shitpost more?
How is dark souls shit in the beginning?
I thought the game was fun from start to finish.
Its only tedious if you force yourself through areas you are too weak to do yet.
But i dont see where the game is possibly "tedious" if you take the path from undeadburg to depths, to blighttown.
undertale is 97%, life is strange is 96%, portal 2 is 99%, plants vs zombies is 98%, Shower With Your Dad Simulator 2015: Do You Still Shower With Your Dad is 97%... I think you get the point.
I'm not that guy and I don't want to get into it with you over whether the game is good or not, but I'm about eight hours in so far and the game definitely seems casual as fuck. I could've played hard mode, and perhaps I should've, but I'm hoping it picks up. I haven't played the whole game so it would be stupid of me to try to say the entire thing is casual, but the beginning definitely gives off that vibe. The game doesn't have to fuck me in the ass from the get go but I expected to have died at least once by now.
I encountered literally zero bandits yet only goblins, wolves and the lizzard people in the well.
Also i meant the path between the encampent and the witchhut in the witchwoods.
I probably expressed myself badly here.
But i wasnt lying or shitposting.
There are literally a billion wolves in the witchwoods.
>He unironically believes mindless hack & slash button mashing isn't for casuals and casuals solely
>Uses "fuccboi" unironically
I can smell your putrid faggotry even here. Get the fuck out.
>its a cheap trick
it sure does work though
>Can i climb on monster? Can i pick up my companions and throw them away?
Literally the only two things that separate DD from a generic Korean MMORPG.
Climbing doesn't even work well either with that shitty camera.
This took me a bit to figure out but
you have to go to a guy who will sell you different special attacks and passive abilities. You use the special moves/attacks to fight properly. Now I'm a dante-like whirlwind of death.
Since you have the mob locations memorized I'm assuming you're a vet of the game, but I don't think he exaggerated the amount of wolves that much. Going out at night from Cassardis to Gran Soren felt like fighting wolves every ten steps. If you go from Cassardis to the Witch Hut there are a ton as well. Maybe not DROVES AND DROVES of wolves, but since they provide no challenge and sometimes have a tendency to draw out fights but running around, yeah, it feels like a giant wolf-flavored waste of time.
Nice arguments, faggots.
Post yfw DD casuals are getting ABSOLUTELY BTFO
>Asks for MMO's with DD combat
>Gets provided with a list of MMO's with DD type of combat
>Disregards it and asks again
Literally retarded. Get the fuck off my /v/, you goddamn underage twat.
TERA is the only MMO I've played that had similar combat. The thing is, at least in MMORPGs you have other people to play with. An offline game with MMORPG gameplay doesn't make any goddamn sense, which is exactly what DD is.
Sorry but this game literally destroys DD's 'good' combat
I keep dying on the part where you go in a dungeon type place under the big city. It spirals down and then there are snakes that spawn on the bottom.
On my 1st attempt I got to the giant before the snake spawns and having a close fight. I climbed his back and was barely hanging on and the mother fucker falls off and kills himself and i survived the fall. I was so happy. Then I go to that thing in the middle and the snakes spawn. No problem so far, but whre are my pawns? OHHhh they are busy running all the way back up for some reason fighting every mob i skipped while all these god damn snakes are attacking too.
I keep trying to do the place over and over but I keep dying. My sword does fuck all against monsters unless my mage enchants it which only seems to happen when theres 1 mob left.
How do I stop sucking dick with sword/shield?
You think that's bad? Should have played a mage.
>hold modifier key
>press desired spell
>wait till it charges up
>let go of modifier key
>spells auto target
The combat in this game is worse than the witcher 3.
Probably because pccucks are so starved for games that aren't early access indie shit.
With the pigeon being DD fanbase, amirite?
>guise guise, dis game so gooood, GOTY GOTY, HYPE HYPE HYPE, best combat EVA lool :D
>Game gets shat upon for being actually shit
>Waaaah, PC cucks ruined it :S Waaah shitposters!1!! M000ds!!
Pawns learn from your actions right? So if I'm playing as a sorcerer and turn my pawn into a fighter, will he be an absolute coward? I know inclinations matter a lot, but aside from those, would me playing as a "sit in the back and kill enemies from a distance" kind of a character hamper my "i'm gonna be in the smack-dab middle of things and draw everybody's attention" pawn 'behavior development'?
Go to /vg/ general
Read up on pawn inclinations
Now you know how to hire a mage that isn't complete fucking dogshit
You don't have to fight the ogre/troll whatever it is
You don't have to fight the snakes
Then run out
Yeah the game doesn't really tell you, but it should be obvious because they never fucking stop spawning and they kick your ass
I hope you're not missing precious side-quests, some get locked out as you progress story
same anon here
Turning on "loudness equalizer" fixed it for me. Give it a try.
Turn on Loudness Equalization. That fixed the problem for me. Works for every game with quiet audio.
>Go to the properties of your output device and then go to enhancements tab.
Well it looks exactly like the witches house from berserk, where guts nabs the berserker armor from the dying old coot and proceeds to fight the dragon man-person-demon
It's probably intentional
This is neither here nor there but the PC port of Alone in the Dark would run at like 12 fps unless the user set their sound to mono. Now THAT is a weird port sound issue.
>that feel when no dad who comes to you and says "son, I noticed you've been playing Witcher 3, a game with mindless, mediocre, Asscreed-style combat. I have a gift for you that'll lead you back to the light of satisfying MonHunter-esque gameplay: it's called Dragon Dogma."
>"I want you to play this game because I love you son. I'd never want you to become a filthy peasant who enjoys Witcher 3's Asscreed combat."
I think it's hilarious how /v/ complains about how casual and lame games are nowadays, and a game comes along that is super fun, but has a few flaws they get all butt hurt and start complaining.
This game is not perfect, no game is. It has more flaws than other games in its genre. The story is stupid, the world is generic, the graphcis arent that great.
But the gameplay is so kinetic and awesome. so much shit happens and the abilities are so smoothly exectuted, it's great.
You have to be over 12 to overlook the flaws to see the diamond.
I'm enjoying my time with the game thus far but your post is just immature fan butthurt. Whining about the first ten hours of a game that is known to be a slow starter is just as stupid as saying anyone who can't appreciate the game is under twelve.
I wonder if it's just one pathetic person saying this over and over or if /v/ is legitimately so full of retards that a new one can wander into the thread every five minutes to chip in his repetitive korean mmo shitpost.
>prep Razer™ keyboard and Madcatz™ mouse

>see some goblins anyways
>I don't even die once

0/10 shit game thanks /v/ you lied to me, I always knew you console peasants had awful taste
>do the shadow fort quest
>npc keeps on fucking dying
>at some point the game just autosaves after the failure and I can't retry
How can a game be this fucking frustrating holy shit. Did I just fuck up the quest?
>some people like the game
>some people don't like the game
>instead of moving on with their lives they argue about why you should/shouldn't like the game
You people do realize you can have different tastes since what you enjoy is a completely subjective topic, right?
>Doing an escort quest
>Getting ambushed a shit ton, a lot of fighting
>About halfway through the trail
>Get ambushed by a cyclops, bandits, and wolves all at the same time

>Decide to head back to the main city
>Fight a huge group of bandits
>One bandit left
>He kills me
>Load latest save
>Back to the beginning of the escort quest
Literally just lost over an hour of game play. I would manually save but you can only "save an exit" so that shit is tedious, does this game not auto save that often? Also do I have to make my pawn a heal slave just to force heals on NPCs?
Princess (confirmed virgin) > loli witch > Quina > gold digger > she-goat
>forgot to do Lost and found
>it fails after that thing in the gran soren undergrounds

>probably fucked up a whole questline
i fucking hate this game
So I got the Golden idol from that stupid quest in Gran Soren, and I gave it to the vendor.
I expected him to sell great armour and weapons but it's just barely better than the stuff he already sold, wtf?

It's straight up just bonus loot for shit you were going to do anyway. The only board quests you should pay any mind to completing are the ones with odd sounding loot names like "Gryphic Victory".
Just need a mod to let us alter npc clothes.
Silver top and silk lingerie please.
OP just fucking sucks.
The only issue i had with this games is that the difficulty quickly becomes marginal. They through the Everfall dungeon at you only a few hours into the game, and let me tell you, that was a challenge, especially when I got to the end and had to run from the tentacles while trying to grab the last of the treasure I had forgotten. If the game had stayed at that level of difficulty throughout, It'd be perfect. Instead, once you beat Grigori, everything become pretty easy to kill, even end game monsters. Though I never did play BBI, hopefully that's an improvement.
this game was 7/10 everywhere for a reason don't fall for retarded /v/ memes telling you that something is bashed for framerate alone and that 7 is way too fucking high anyway I've seen decent, enjoyable 7/10 games this one is 5 at best critics are too soft nowadays
I'm with you OP
WHY THE FUCK DOES EVERYTHING TAKE SO LONG TO FUCKING KILL
I thought you only could give it to the vendor and that he would sell better merchandise, depending on the quality of the idol (bronze/silver/gold)?
I gave him the gold one and it's just marginally better than the weapons he already sold.
Enhance your gear. Earliest place to do it is at the merchant you saved outside of cassardis.
Once you learn how to actually play the game you'll kill most enemies pretty quickly.
>Keeping Skyshit and Pay to Win: The Blizzard Game
Consider suicide my man
>you can only "save and exit"
are you fucking retarded? you can manually save by going to menu and pressing "i" on keyboard. its literally written on the screen, how autistic can you be.
my main complaint is the upgrade system
>Not a single hint at where to find a certain item you need to upgrade item
>Even if you found the item before, you have no idea where it came from half the time because pawns always picking up random shit during battle
>No item log
>Expects you to be a fag and look it up online
>people seriously believing shitposter opinions and adopting them as their own opinions like retards
>critics too soft
They sure are soft when they consider a game that is 7/10 complete shit. 6 and below doesn't even exist on most reviewer's scales anymore. That's more critical than anything ever
Now where the fuck would you get that?
Why doens't the game tell me where to find ores? i have this pickaxe, but nah... I'm not here to think about things.
This is just ridiculous. Ain't no nigga know where a mufuckin plant be at!
WHat the FUCK!?! Maybe I get goblin bones... by buying them from the pawns? Let me go register for college real quick...
>Shitty magic and warrior classes that take insane amounts of time doing nothing but channeling skills.
>Pawn AI still pants-on-head retarded, jumping in to the ocean due to piss poor pathfinding.
>Main game combat suffers drastically due to dungeons being poorly designed and fights often being relegated to open empty fields until you hit BBI, shitting on an otherwise great combat system.
>Game starts with a welcome initial hump of difficulty that is quickly overcome, leaving you with a Skyrim-tier experience as you obliterate practically everything until shit like living armors and certain everfall enemies.

>Now where the fuck would you get that?

Mine from deposits, you'll need that pickaxe.

Dogma of the Dragon, some sort of belief relating to the dragon.
It doesn't matter what it means or if it means anything at all really. It sounds cool and I really appreciate the Japanese' ability to come up with cool-sounding names for their games, even if they don't always make sense or aren't grammatically correct.
>Cassardite sounds like a mineral of some kind, I wonder if I can mine it?
>I glowing talisman? I wonder if a salesman who sells magical items might have something like that...
>A plant? The woods might be a good starting point
>"Waterfall" huh? I might try some place with a lot of water...
>There are lots of monters in this game. I bet at least ONE of them will drop a claw.
>but the combat is literally spam left mouse button as fast as you can
Everytime I saw a webm of a warrior it was always Arc of Obliteration, and you basically just saw the aftermath of enemies exploding everywhere. I had no idea it tool a solid 10 seconds to charge. Switched to assassin and been having way more fun.
Most of these come down to paying attention to what monsters drop. Here's some help from my experience and common sense.
>Firefly stones come from mining deposits in certain regions.
>Cassardite. The first town is called Cassardis. This also kinda sounds like a mineral name. Coincidence?
>I saw those talismans as a requirement for the DLC gear so I'm assuming they come from the DLC area.
>Chaffstem is around all over the place where you actually find it.
>I'm guessing by trees near waterfalls, probably a particular waterfall but I don't know for sure.
>Probably from some creature with long claws.
>all these lies and slander
it's a sad day for video games
Because it looks awesome, but it's way more fun to be a more combo centric warrior. I only keep one charge attack if I meet something with armor or just want to fuck something up.
Yes, the pawn will actually learn from you and start to mimic your actions. I've been spending the first part of the game teaching my fighter pawn to not be a shitter. Now he perfect blocks, combos the fuck out of bitches, and grapples the strong guys so the rest of the party can fuck them up.

How the fuck was this shit ass map meant to compare to Skyrim, which came out 5 years ago?
he's not saying otherwise, but you've got to be an extreme retard to not know that before buying it.
but i guess you're a pc-only guy so this is the first game like this you've ever played.
anyway, i don't like dd that much myself, but i hope it doesn't turn out like dark souls and the pc players for some reason ruin the community. but i guess it was the marketing too.
>you give a good reason
"It's not what I expected" is a pretty retarded reason to me, anon. There's tons of info and reviews about it. It's not Steams fault you're to lazy to research.
>but you told me combat was amazing
This game has a good combat for an RPG. Combat is not the most important thing in this genre so the fact that it's not complete shit like in, say, Witcher 3, is an achievement.
I love DD but the world is more empty than Skyrims. But I think it makes up for it by having generally better design. And if you happen upon an ogre you become eager to fight it since combat is actually fun in this game. No one enjoys the combat in Skyrim.
You know, if Skyrim had the exact same gameplay that DD had it would probably be my favorite game ever.
I kind of hate how small the map is, and how there are only a handful of different enemy types, but that enemy one is sort of my complaint for a lot of wrpg's
I think DD was decent at best, I liked the combat a lot even though it was fairly simple, it's super satisfying
>allowed to refund with the excuse "it's not what i expected"
Holy fuck, they shouldn't allow someone that retarded to not learn how retarded they are.
Even when it was just on consoles, I never understood the hype for this game.
The only 2 good things were climbing and holding onto enemies, and the magic.
Everything else was shit, I don't know why people are so defensive about this game, it's literally a 6/10.
>kids not enjoying a good game because it isn't flashy on rails FF13, CoD or Fallout 4 or some shit
Because it's probably the only modern action RPG with decent combat. For me I love fighting in it and the excellent character customization (this includes armor more than creation), exploring this game is a joy to me. I'm fully aware of the flaws, but they don't stand in the way of my enjoyment of the game. And let's be real, the people shitting on the game are often a lot more hostile than the ones defending it.
I just hope it somehow gets a proper sequel fixing most of the stuff the first game didn't do so well.
>i don't enjoy something after not even playing it for 5 hours and haven't even unlocked advanced classes and skills
No one cares that you have ADHD, go shitpost on reddit maybe they can give you some pity upvotes there.
No matter what way you choose to interpret it, the only thing you can ever be sure of is that it's not for you. You know this though, as you've said, yet here you are. Now you just gotta figure out why you're even in this thread.
>lots of customization and loot
>can get pretty difficult and doesn't hold your hand
>many unique aspects that isn't copypasted from other popular games
>setting and story is interesting
>many classes that play very differently
So you don't enjoy this? Your funeral.
It's funny how Souls became so big but a lot of people have a problem with this game's combat. I'm not arguing with you, this is pretty random, but it's an interesting thing. DD has two basic combos for light attacks and one combo for strong, and you can mix it up with two aerial attacks. And then you have the weapon skills in addition to that. There's a lot of variety in this combat if you are actually trying. I personally love souls but the combat is basic as fuck, it's literally light/heavy attack combat.
I've played and finished the game. Looking back I just don't see what's so great about it outside of those 2 things.
I just feel whenever anyone brings up any criticism the fanbase never tells us what makes it so great.
I just want to know why you hold the game in such a high regard.
Quittez faire des messages, Mr Montasser.
>>I-it gets good 5 hours in
I never said it got good 5 hours in.
Also if you drop an RPG or something after like 30min you're flat out retarded. Especially when your reason is something moronic like "the combat wasn't great!" when the game hasn't even opened up yet.
Heck I bet you didn't even get to Gran Soren before you quit.
Yoru shit attention-span and shit for brains is no one's problem but yours. Fuck off baby, no one cares about you crying that you think people "lied" to you when people said they really enjoyed a game and you didn't even do any fucking research on it yourself.
>unlocked new mage support skills, reclassed my pawn as tank / brawler, found some neat damage dealing online pawns
>ALRIGHT LET'S DO THIS SHIT
>ONLY LEVEL 25 BUT WHATEVER LET'S DO THIS DLC DUNGEON THAT'S SUPPOSED TO BE SO HARD
>bunch of wolves and goblins
>then out of fucking nowhere the literal grim reaper appears
>kills my party within seconds
>barely make it out alive
I'm having a fuckload of fun
>I just feel whenever anyone brings up any criticism the fanbase never tells us what makes it so great.
Yet here you are and you finished a game you can't even think about 2 things you enjoyed about it.
Please, you're terrible at lying and you're only here to incite flamewars.
>DD threads were always comfy as fuck with she-goat posting
>Comes out on PC
>People whining that the game is terrible
DD threads forever ruined
not as much as she-goat's cock sleeve though
It's a matter of tastes, like everything else in life. Can you explain why you like one type of a girl over another? The explanation would only make sense to you (and anyone else with similar tastes).
I'm never told what's so great about it outside of combat and the visual aesthetic of the magic.
What's so fucking 10/10 of this game?
What's to incite? The thread is meant to incite it anyway, it's happened and fizzled out.
I just want to know why you people love this mediocre game so much.
Didn't you know, anon?
With a bigger playerbase, comes a bigger amount of retards.
That's why I'm both sad and happy that games like Powerstone and Anarchy Reigns will never hit PC.
dang, i've been trying to figure out how to get better equipment for like 10 hours then i stumble onto the black cat shop
>can only afford 2 things ;_;
This is /v/ though, I'm sure many of these people are people who played it on consoles originally and didn't like it. Because if you pretend the game didn't receive a lot of shit back then you are delusional.
>if you pretend the game didn't receive a lot of shit back then you are delusional
This. There was a fair share of criticism in the threads, but they were mostly ignored to preserve the delusion that this game was good.
I just enjoyed using /vg/'s pawns.
>quests don't have dificulty ratings against your current level.
>trek through sewer only to find lizardmen that take 1%dmg per hit.
Yay backtracking! Yay trial and error! Soo much fun!
I fell for the meme.
You specifically said you finished the game.
That means you obviously enjoyed it, correct?
Or did you really play a game you didn't find any redeeming qualities?
As I said, stop shitposting. It's clear as day you only pretend to have played and beaten it to try and make yourself sound more credible, but it's obvious you haven't.
So if someone starts out by lying then why on earth should I care about some attentionwhore?
That has nothing to do with the combat mechanics though which was what I was talking about. DDs pacing isn't great but then again it tries to be an open world game. Souls is closer to Metroid than, for example, Skyrim, in terms of game design.
Also, bosses don't take forever in DD unless you're Shit at the game which is a good thing imo.
I have played it you faggot. You fanboys can NEVER say why it's so good. I'm convinced you're braindead retards who just love grinding, and playing the same game over and over again like Soulsfags.
>to preserve the delusion that this game was good.
I see you're only here to make people fall on their knees and bow to your superior tastes for finding this game they enjoyed to be bad.
You repeatedly break global rules.
typical DD fanboy defense
>You specifically said you finished the game.
>That means you obviously enjoyed it, correct?
Had to play it in small bursts, but it was mostly forced.
>having a differing opinion is shitposting
This fanbase is still absolute garbage, I really think PCfags are calling it out and everyone is getting buttmad.
>If quit the game because it isn't fun after 3 hours than your an autstic shitstain
>If you played through it can't be that bad, eh?
I've argued with retards like you too often to give a shit a this point.
Maybe I try another class if I can force myself to slog through that prolouge and the shitty Chimera fight.
do rented pawns update to their latest "version" automatically when I enter the rift?
Or do I need to release them, search for them again, and then hire them again?
>I have played it you faggot.
For how long. Where exactly did you reach in the story or what areas did you explore.
>You fanboys can NEVER say why it's so good.
Why are you even here? Are you just here to make people list things they liked so you can tell them that they're wrong after your very "extensive" playtime (like you just did in that very post)?
You're a class A shitposter that seeks attention by inciting flamewars. But go ahead and prove me wrong by answering my questions.
Dragons and chimeras are existing designs, and may be generic because of that, but that doesn't mean you can enjoy the way they were designed for this game. And people tend to like the armor designs in this game.
You sound like a baby honestly. You basically run into a room screaming WHY DO YOU GUYS ENJOY BEER I DONT UNDERSTAND PLEASE STOP ENJOYING BEER BECAUSE YOUR REASONS FOR DOING SO ARE TOTALLY NOT VALID ACCORDING TO ME
refunded this piece of shit after 40 mins for the exact same reasons
no fucking idea why people praise the combat in this game, i had one retard tell me to stop playing on easy LMAO.
Like I'm supposed to guess that without trial and error when like 7 lizard men jump at you and then start slithering about.
>Hit lizardman anywhere but tail - Hardly any damage.
>Hit lizardman in tail - skin made of paper, sword goes right though
10/10 game my fucking dickhole.
Played it to completion.
>ask why you think it's so good
>Why are you even here?
10/10 - pretty much convinced this fanbase is autistic as fuck and just enjoy doing the same things over and over again
>Why does cutting off a lizard's tail make it weaker?
They most likely use it for balance.
>Had to play it in small bursts, but it was mostly forced.
So you're mentally handicapped? Glad we don't have to waste time arguing with someone that forces himself to play games he doesn't enjoy and then even finish them when they're pretty long as well.
A sensible person with a functioning brain would stop playing. So either you're genuinely retarded or you're lying, so which is it? Can you answer this question without sperging out and going off-topic?
Dude, it doesn't matter what I say. You don't like the game. You don't have the ability to see it from the same perspective as those who enjoy it. That's all there is to it. You can only see it as "grinding" while taking nothing more from the experience. There's a quote in the intro right when you start a new game that says (paraphrasing): "The delicious and ever-changing pleasures of doing things for no reason."
>Maybe I try another class if I can force myself to slog through that prolouge and the shitty Chimera fight.
You fucking didn't even get through the chimera fight?
>Maybe I try another class if I can force myself to slog through that prolouge and the shitty Chimera fight.
You didn't even play the game longer than like 15min? You got raped at the Chimera and ragequit?
So this is neo /v/.
The setting is generic as fuck, and the story is short and terrible.
>So you're mentally handicapped?
Again with the fucking ad hominem. This is all you faggots know.
Nobody's given me a reason why they love this game yet. Hilarious.
I think the mentally handicapped one here is the one who can keep doing the same shit for hours on end.
>mfw i was warning people all month that the combat is nothing but flash that revolves around literally mashing one button and the map deliberately tricks you into thinking the game is bigger than it actually is
just for future reference when you see anime faggots praising a game you should immediately know it's awful. dd is only popular with waifu faggots using it as a loli simulator
You'll level up beyond the static levels of all the creatures in the base game and effortlessly kill everything including anything in the Everfall.
At that point the only thing that will "challenge" you are beasts in Bitterblack Isle which aren't more challenging so much as they throw a bunch of negative status effects and instakill attacks at you.
I died once on that part. Second try taught me everything I needed to know. Jumped down far to the right to only fight 2 at a time and then saw the tail go flying off. Repeated it by slowly moving forward, only aggroing two at a time and just killing them two by two. I'm retarded and even I figured out how to handle that situation immediately. Git gud. God damn.
I turned off pawn chatter after I heard:
'Look at the bottom of the tree for shit'
90 fucking times in 30 mins. Why would they put explanation of mechanics dialogue alongside lines that contain such trivial shit.
If you disagree with me you're wrong and a retard.
Yeah, all that money that only really matters if you're doing a couple of money dependent builds.
You still get one shotted all the way through, it's really not fun, just tedious.
Go to the rift stone and use it. In the rift, talk to rook and tell him to fuck off. That whole area is also how you recruit other pawns. Talk to the rift stone in the rift to search/leave.
Again so you beat it, a game that averages at 36h to complete if you don't drag out the game, yet didn't find a single thing you enjoyed about it?
Am I understanding you correctly here?
weebfags strike again proclaiming it's a great game when it really isn't.
If you like anime and play video games, your taste is shit and your opinion is invalid. You're cancer that supports these weebshit games clogging the Steam store and you should fucking kill yourself.
I recall needing to fire and rehire them in the console version. I haven't mucked about much with specific pawns in the PC version because as of last night the rewards system was borked. Meaning, the owner of said pawn did not receive rift crystals or gifts given due to their pawn being rented.
As a Strider you're not meant to use the bow as your primary means of DPS. I believe the game tells you from the very beginning that your bow is for support.
Of course, you cucks probably totally disregard that and are like "I got a bow, time to play like a Hunter from WoW".
This game is short as fuck.
Only padding it has are copypasted MMO sidequests.
>a game that averages at 36h to complete
No it fucking doesn't. This game is short as shit.
Takes barely 20 hours to finish if you ignore the shitty sidequests.
>yet didn't find a single thing you enjoyed about it?
I already said, the only pros I found was latching onto enemies and the magic.
>Nobody's given me a reason why they love this game yet. Hilarious.
You're getting insulted because you claimed to have spent over 30 hours on a game you didn't find a single thing you enjoyed about it.
You don't think this is the behaviour of a crazy person or someone mentally handicapped.
You're actually saying that you constantly play games you do not enjoy at all, for no reason and again don't think this is stupid behaviour?
Can you give me a clear answer as to why you beat this game despite not liking it at all? After all you can't think of any redeeming qualities about it.
Wow learn to read you stupid faggot.
I said the only 2 things that kept me going wer the latching and magic systems.
I beat it so I'd have a valid opinion, and I like finishing games I buy.
>still no reason why it's great
This fanbase is the fucking worst.
First time player 18 hours in.
I'm fucking loving it. Yellow classes are fun, blue classes are fun and I haven't quite gotten around to playing red ones yet but I bet they are fun as well.
My main problem with the combat so far though is not the button spammy combat against mooks. It's that I do jack shit for damage with my magic and have no reliable stun or stagger to get away from fast foes.
Grand ingle for ½ of a bandits doesn't quite cut it when there are six of them and they proceed to push your shit once they have closed the distance. Charging spells in combat only feels worth it against boss monsters because of this.
Meanwhile both strider and assassin can do knockdowns for days and win not by doing a ton of damage but my making sure they don't have to take damage.
So I need to ask, how do I git gud at magic and what might I be missing?
>I told /v/ to buy a shit game. he actually did it, the absolute madman.
>You can't even give reasons as to why you beat a game you didn't enjoy.
I enjoyed the magic and climbing enemies, that's it. Everything else was a bore.
I like to finish games I buy.
>No it fucking doesn't. This game is short as shit.
20h is if you rush through the game. Even that is a pretty long time for a game.
Playing a game you didn't like apart from "latching onto enemies and the magic" is idiotic.
Also people have already given reasons as to why they like the game for years now. What exactly are you doing here? You obviously don' agree with people that think the combat is fun and so on, so what the fuck are you doing here?
>gets mad when reviewers don't beat a game and give it a review
>gets mad when a fellow /v/irgin beats a game and gives it an objective review
you're not looking for objectivity though. you're looking for people to blindly support this awful game
