Yes and no, there are some variety in later areas and BBI has it's own unique locale. After a major game event there will also be a dramatic shift in landscape.

However as a whole the variance in scenery is kept pretty mild as opposed to a lot of open world games where the terrain can shift from one biome to another very abruptly.

Confirmed playing on easy or at least not discovering the easy ways to kill things.

Half the fun of the game is that it literally lets you DISCOVER shit. Saurians in the well are really hard after the encampment EXCEPT if you stay calm and go for their tails when there's an opening. There's a smart way to play through every encounter in the game, you just have to learn them. It also lets you brute-force your way through every encounter, and i assume anyone saying the combat is repetitive is doing just that.

Just remember, this game uses ALL of it's dumb mechanics at some point

IIRC there's a portcrystal outside of Cassardis that you can warp to. Just gotta activate it.
You can also find smaller portcrystals that you can set up on the map and warp to whenever.
I recommend doing an expedition for a healing spring so you can set up a portcrystal as soon as you get it.

Hard is actually easier than normal. The first 20 minutes are kinda annoying, but pretty much doable and after that it's a stroll through the park.

Going to need a few augments from Warrior, at least 1 if I remember, you'll need to switch vocation to Warrior after level 10 at some point, kill shit until you're ALMOST the next level, then switch back to assassin before you ding and make sure you level ONLY while you're an assassin. (Stats vary when you level based on your vocation, only right when you level up.)

You'll wind up as a glass-cannon who can solo down the Ur-Dragon if you want at level 140+. Even if you don't decide to go completely no-pawns night-only, you'll still tear fucking everything apart in almost no time at all.


Either that, or go Magick Archer, another face-rapey build.

I want to play as a sorcerer/magick archer, but I don't want to be running out of stamina all the time.

I think they're talking about combat as a whole. There's only a few abilities, but the combat feels very fluid. The controls are responsive, and overall it's just fun. In Dragon Age, especially Origins, the combat is slow and isn't engaging at all. It's mostly auto attack while you wait for the cool down timers on the few useful abilities you do have. You've got a bunch of abilities, but most of which are pretty useless.

Nope, get used to things like that showing up right the fuck out of nowhere.

Enemies DO have levels, but their levels are hidden. So you CAN stumble into way-too-high areas if you're exploring too much, or accidentally rushing.

The shit under Pawn's Guild is one of the worse examples because of how crazy-varied people are at that point. If you were just doing the main-quest and don't realize sidequests are locked after specific points, or if you're not exploring/sidequesting in general, you can hit that bullshit at level 14. I didn't get there till 23, and that Ogre is still bullshit.

Another good example is on the way to Witchwood. Right before you enter the area, there'll be a bandit-castle in the general area to your right. If you take TWENTY STEPS off the path leading you to Witchwood and towards the castle, you'll find bandits who look the EXACT SAME as the bandits you just murdered on the road, but are 15-20+ levels higher and can kill you in 1-2 hits on Hardmode.

For Magick Archer, drop 45 levels into Fighter or Strider, honestly. Both will give you better stamina and more defense to boot, rounded your character out. You won`t be as face-melty as some other Magick Archers, but you`ll be more durable and have better stamina.

They really set it up nicely. The opening scene after you create your character is really gripping and really leaves the expectation that this is a huge epic adventure. I've not gotten very far in this game so I can't personally comment on the story myself beyond the tutorial.

Although I'm really enjoying KoAR again. I played it when it first came out and never really got that far. Did the tutorial last night and started playing again. You could play 10-200 MA and be completely fine. Having more magic stat doesn't hurt, but if you're not enjoying playing as a Sorcerer, then just don't do it.

That said, MA's strength comes from magic stat. You don't need physical stat (but your regular attacks will suck ass, but that's fine). If you think you need more stamina, Ranger has the best Stamina gains in the game, otherwise try Strider for more all-round stats.

I dont know what you mean with OP or UP but yes, you can basiclly one shot bosses with some tricky canon and other spell shit. Sorry I cant tell really more I never used those spells. MK can be fun and is a direct upgrade to fighter but on the magic side of things. You need to skill mage and sorcerer, get their augments which boost mag attack, get the wyrm ring, make a copy of it so your cast times are reduced and use magic weapons with the right element against the right boss to be more viable but IMO its not worth the hassle as the only upside are some rediculous r1 skills and the magic shield. If you are into that good for you, Im not, I cant tell more sorry, good luck

Honestly, you can level what you want. I personally tried to level everything if only for Vocation levels (and because I mained Mystic Knight and Magic Archer). If you want to do Mystic Knight at least put a couple levels into Sorcerer. You can also pop over to Strider for a few levels. I think they get a little more physical attack than magic per level but you still get more than going Fighter or Warrior.

But honestly, level what you feel like. All of the classes are fun as fuck.

Your pawn can get summoned at any point if you're playing or not. If you load up your game or sleep at an inn and your pawn's been summoned, then a prompt will come up and you'll get a review from the summoner how they did along with rift crystals and whatever they gave you if anything.

I rented the game cause why not, and ended up not really digging it because I was running around going from A to B, getting my ass slapped by bandits. Said fuck it and returned it.

Rented it again because a buddy said it gets better, end up actually trying to get into the game. Started to really love it in just about every way.

I'll give you that since the game isn't for everyone, really, it's a hit or miss.
But if you stick to it and managed yourself to enter BBI.. well, better have that anus cleansed.

When you restart, pick up all of the beginning side quest so you're not as flimsy by the time you get to that part. Also use basic tactics like only get a few to aggro you at a time and throw anyone who soaks up a bunch of damage off a ledge.

Save scum a bit if you have to I guess if you're able to knocked around pretty easily. That's up to you.

I know a bunch of people who bounced off the game because it doesn't spoon feed you, and everytime I probe further to see where they got in the game, they either gave up before gran Soren or got to gran Soren and refused to git gud.

I had the same feeling. I bought Dark Arisen off amazon a couple years back at this point because it was cheap and I heard good things and thought it was alright for the most part, but didn't really get into it until I started doing some dungeon crawling in the catacombs wrecking zombies and looting chests, only to leave and find out it's nighttime and I ran out of oil for my lantern.
All I heard were a bunch of children laughing because there were a few phantasms near by, and then out of the darkness I got jumped by a fucking chimera out of nowhere which scared the shit out of me. I was hooked at that point.

There's so many story-worthy moments I've had in this game it's unreal. Not many games give me that feeling.

tfe you notice that a lot of monsters make the same sounds as enemies in Spyro the Dragon

Which now that I think about it is a funny coincidence but they probably just had the same sound bank.

I recognize a lot of the music samples on some areas too. The area leading to the Grigori fight late in the game uses a lot of the same stuff you'd hear in the ambient tracks in Fallout New Vegas.
