Underwhelming. Crystal blew them out of the water
Underwhelming. Emerald blew them out of the water
Underwhelming. Platinum blew them out of the water
Underwhelming. B2W2 blew them out of the water
This please, I need my early morning fap
I find the "third versions" underwhelming because they're no better than paid DLC. Nothing is impressive about taking a 2-3 year old completed game and adding some stuff that should have been there to begin with. The only follow up games that were worth it were BW2.
>shitty game to appeal to the ashnime
Blue is the actual third version
Walking with your Pokemon will never return
Dressing up your character will never return
Megas are real
The competitive battle will always be a joke and involves RNG, which makes it even more of a joke
GameFreak is about on par with EA for being the worst videogame company in existence.
>Dressing up your character will never return
I don't know. Mausda and GF are notoriously full of shit.
I wouldn't be surprised if the "it's just Kalos culture" thing wasn't just a quick bullshit deflection to justify them not taking the extra effort to implement it into ORAS.
>Both were amazing and some of the serie's best.
Here you go famalam. Also More Hilda in this thread would be nice. Trying to fill out the folder.
>After Black and White I was excited as fuck for the new entries because Black and White actually had a pretty decent story with a nice bit of darkness to it
>Black and White 2 were pretty damn good, only got even more hyped
>Completely let down by X and Y, felt like such a fucking downgrade in nearly every aspect from the previous games
>Team Flare was a fucking joke, and at least Team Plasma felt like Team Galactic in how it was kind of a cult, except they really did think they were doing some good
>The villain was laughable
>The fucking forced out of nowhere super weapon that shows up all of a sudden is a terrible way to force drama
>Your "friends"/"rivals" are fucking jokes, and they don't get nearly the same amount of character development that Cheren and Bianca did
>Everything felt so utterly devoid of life and it further casualized the series into oblivion
>Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire come out and are literally the same, taking everything about what made Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, and Hoenn good, and completely shitting on them
>Not to even go into how awful Mega Evolutions are executed, basically just another Japanese popularity contest with their horrible tastes
>X, Y, Omega Ruby, and Alpha Sapphire feel so utterly devoid of any life and feel so incredibly soulless
>Now I feel nothing but disdain for the franchise because all I can think of is how much wasted potential Pokemon is as a whole, and how Gamefreak and Nintendo absolutely refuse to do anything that'd risk staining their precious series, all while forcing pay to play/win garbage
Warning very lewd pokeslut coming right nhere
>WAAAAH, WHY DON'T PEOPLE LIKE HOW SHITTY XY/ORAS ARE?
I know that feel. Only disagree about two things:
Galactic was just as shit as Flare, a team of absolute idiots who didn't even know what their boss was trying to accomplish.
Despite everything, ORAS made an effort to further develop most characters, including its villains, and I enjoyed it a lot more than XY as a result.
He probably means Shuffle and shit. But those are spinoffs, so he's just probably upset by all the focus they're getting.
>Underwhelming. B2W2 blew them out of the water
B2W2 was shit, they should have just spend the time fixing BW instead of making a "new" game and just reusing all the same things anyway
gen 6 actually put a completely new mechanic in battles and added an extra type that balances the types edgy kids love to pick
plus not as many new pokemons this time, so we don't get another freakshow like gen 5
what did gen 5 do again, aside from creating a 'deep' story?
The worst thing about playing XY after BW is how no one gives a shit about the super weapon that is going to kill everyone but Team Flare.
Gym leaders and even the Champion went to fight Plasma in BW, and they were just trying to control the region, not destroy it. Guess the Kalos champ was too busy filming some movies or whatever.
I really hope Z is more of a sequel than a third entry, like BW2, and fixes a lot of shit.
I feel ya, man. I hope Z will be great, but I'm having severe doubts that it will be.
Guess what? Dragons are still overpowered as shit, because the reason they ruled the scene wasn't their mediocre typing, but rather the fact that they mostly legendaries or 600BST beasts. All they did was create another top tier type, and buffing Ghost to unnecessary levels.
Just adding Fairy to a shitmon nowadays drastically improves their usefulness with close to no drawbacks. Dragon never did that for any mon that wasn't a Water type (another of GF's darling types).
Why do people hate on the classic red and blue so much?
Are you all underaged or what?
Because there's literally no point in playing them them in 2016, since most of the newer games are a lot better. You should play them before shitposting, to be honest.
They try to be "objective" and judge them on overall quality, completely ignoring the fact that the rest of the series was built on R/G's foundation, so no fucking shit they're going to be better. It's the reason G/S/C are so low, they're "obsolete" because they have better remakes. Like that somehow robs the original release of its merit.
the thing that gets me the most is removal of features from a previous game before putting it back in the third version
>gym leader rematch
>keep it removed
>Evelyn at least mentioned
Best underrated poke waifu and best chatelaine
The only thing going for them is nostalgia bruv. Pokemon Blue was my first handheld game but I realize that it's pretty mediocre compared to the other better entries in the series
Except it does. Historical context matters. The remakes are better, but that doesn't make the original automatically shit.
Also, not even all remakes are better. I'd rather play Crystal than have to endure some of the shit HGSS introduced.
RBY at least has a comfy region and the gameplay is very uninterrupted. The problems with balancing and glitches can be pardoned due to small staff and early tech. DP has so many game design faux pas in it, it takes EONS to even start the game. There are so many walls of text, and the region itself isn't very interesting. There's only one fire Pokemon you can catch and it's fucking Ponyta. There are no excuses for everything wrong with DP given it was the 4th god damn generation.
If it's so obvious why make shitposts like this: >>324130181 ?
Water is wet, the sky is blue, OP is a faggot.
Business as usual
Even then, when you look at how decently G/S/C did things, R/B/Y look pretty shitty in comparison. They didn't come out much afterward too.
Also, what didn't you like about hg/ss? I really like almost everything, they did it really well imo.
i haven't played any of the DS pokemon games other than mystery dungeon, and i just got a DS rom cart
should i try platinum? is it good? my favorite games were emerald and crystal, is it the "HD remake" of emerald?
>Drasna almost top 40
Color me surprised
Because you shouldn't look if they are still good compared to the more recent versions, but rather how good it was then
Otherwise you can say that close to every older games are terrible because the newer versions have small tweaks
How much of the total development cost goes into creating perfect pokewaifus?
B/W and B2/W2 are great, but honestly that's just me, a lot of people seem to dislike B/W for some reason but still like the sequels. Play both if you wanna form your own opinion. B/W first obviously.
Black2/white2 are literally the only pokemon games I have not and do not intend to play
Black/white were that fucking boring and horrible that when Gamefreak decided to release the pattern breaking insults that were B2/W2 I almost went full chris chan about it
yeah I can't believe HG/SS added basically unplayable shit like running, phys/spe split, music that doesn't sound like shit, pokemon following you etc
oh wait, kill yourself nostalgiafag
Many people dislike B/W because only the new 150 pokemon appear before you beat the game. They cannot catch their favorite pokemon pikachu and then throw a hissy fit. It's the reason why many people prefer B/W2, because they can capture pikachu and use him to beat the game.
I vastly preferred B/W, being forced to use new pokemon is fucking fun
>when you look at how decently G/S/C did things, R/B/Y look pretty shitty in comparison
With how long they were in development, and how much was scrapped and reworked, they better be good.
And you're right, they were. Definitely the largest leap in quality for the franchise.
I don't even like RBY all that much, I just think people are too quick to point them out as shit because they disregard the fact that they were developed a long time ago by a much more inexperienced team. Like >>324130797 said, there is much less of an excuse for DP's shittyness than for RBY's, even if they're more advanced games.
I don't exactly hate them, just prefer Crystal. I'm not fond of how slow gen 4 as a whole is, the gen 2 soundtrack sounds better (yes, GB sounds, but you get it at the very end of your journey and it' doesn't even sound exactly like the old tunes), and I'm not fond of how obtuse some mechanics like the safari zone and the new game corner work. They didn't even fix the level curve. In fact, they made the Kanto leaders and Red even higher leveled. That's okay, I guess, because that's the only way they'll even be a challenge.
Also, plain old nostalgia. GSC aren't exactly unplayable, and I just get more satisfaction out of replaying them than going through HGSS. I know some people can't handle the lack of Phys/Special split anymore, but it doesn't bother me. I don't hate HGSS, though. One thing that I appreciate is how gorgeous they look.
Except I did give you a reason you conveniently chose to ignore, you buzzword spouting retard.
No you retard. Everyone prefers B2W2 mostly because it had a fuck ton more polish and content, not to mention that it was far less linear than the first BW. Sure the regional dex is also part of the reason, but not the main one.
I've never beat Crystal before and I always thought it had some sort of charm in it's graphics.
Sell the remakes to me. For the record I loved Firered.
Maybe I'll give BW another shot then. I tried it but it didn't grab me because
I thought the music was shitbut if that's the only problem people have then it's probably worth playing.
Glad to see Dawn up there. She may not be the sexiest by herself, but her being an underage closet lesbian with the much older much sexier Cynthia has always scratched a very specific /ll/ itch for me.
It may be Fanon, but preteens usually dont leave home to go on a pokemon adventure then settle in with a fully grown woman halfway across the world in their summer cottage. They're fucking.
Any of those, your choice
To be honest, BW pandered even more to the RBY crowd, almost every RBY Pokemon had a BW equivalent.
Machamp line -> Conkeldurr line
Drowzee -> Munna
Magnemite line -> Klinklang
Tauros -> That bull (fuck if I know what its name is)
Alakazam -> Gothitelle
Muk -> Garbodor
Bellsprout -> That grass thing, think it was part bug
Tentacool -> Jellicent
Parasect -> That thing that lives for hundreds of years and has PTSD
And a couple more. And that's ignoring the things we have every game by default, like the 3 birds line, rattata equivalent, bug line, fossils, dragon line etc.
That was in Gen III, in Gen IV you need to go underground.
That Serena is a filthy fucking lie.
D A I L Y R E M I N D E R :
Gen 3 > Gen 2 = Gen 5 > Gen 4 > Gen 1 > Gen 6
Emerald tied with Platinum
PMD: Red/Blue Rescue Team
BATTLE REVOLUTION, SERIOUSLY NO-ONE GAVE A FUCK ABOUT IT A WEEK AFTER RELEASE
PROVE ME WRONG FAGGOTS
PROTIP: YOU CAN'T
I think that still falls into reeboot and spiritual successor territory, though.
Meanwhile XY did thing like:
>scripted Pidgey as your first encounter
>a Viridian Forest copypaste
>Snorlax is blocking the road again
>literally giving you the gen 1 starters, equipped with megastones, to ensure they're way more awesome than those shit you got back in Vaniville
>6th gym is a teleporter gym with roughly the same layout as sabrina's
>evil team hideout has a spinning tile puzzle
I'm sure I'm forgetting more. THAT's pure pandering in my eyes.
It's not, you get generated NPCs once a day. Mine's over level 70 now. It retains all of it's functionalities.
>red/blue rescue team
>not sky or even super
>red/blue rescue team
>not explorers of the sky
I GUESS you never played it. Baby can't beat stargazer coliseum?
>completely revolutionize the series and make every single pokemon fully 3D, the first in years you could truly say isn't a rehash
good to see they still have a v in their name for a reason
I actually prefer R/B RT because of the open feeling (I didn't really like being forced to go through half a post-game plot just to evolve my MCs, Friend Zones and partly nostalgia
will admit the plot itself is better though
somebody's buttblasted because GLITCHES: THE GAMES didn't make it to 1st place :^)
Gen 5 > Gen 4 > Gen 3 > Gen 2 > Gen 1 > Gen 6
B/W had a lot of great tracks later on
If you don't like the TCG, I'm not sure. I loved it enough that I actually spent more time in it than R/B/Y back in the day.
Also, the TCG today is an entirely different beast than in 1st gen. Not sure which one you're referring to, if not both.
>tfw your favorite mon becomes the best mon in the game with its Mega
god bless the tripping faggots at Game Freak
God fucking dammit, how the fuck did BW/2 have so much better music than XY/ORAS? I just don't understand how they can drop the ball THIS hard.
>Even had special music for when your Pokemon's health was low
I don't understand how anyone thought letting such a strong offensive mon use its Mega without a stone, so it can use a life orb was a good idea, but who cares
Rayquaza has been my main man since R/S
Reminder that Masuda is the cancer killing Pokemon with his WE WANT THE CASUAL MOBILE AUDIENCE mentality.
Thank fuck that never made a return. I completely took you out of the battle and replaced whatever awesome track was playing at the time. Glad they brought the beeping back. And it now stops after 3 seconds, too. I didn't even know people had a problem with the beeping.
Holy fuck, I hate that track.
It's a legend, so it's not like it really mattered until they came up with this battle season.
Actually, Ray and the primals are the only megas I actually like. They way they achieve those forms makes a lot more sense than any previous mega, plus it's fitting that those forces of nature are as powerful as they are.
I must be the only person who prefers the first game of its respective generation over remakes and "directors cuts". I like the excitement of discovering a new bunch of pokemon for the first time instead of going through a region full of pokemon I've already encountered. I preferred platinum to diamond and pearl though.
>both forms has its own mega
>Go 3D years after most games have, In a world where it's easier to transition
>Looks shit, models looking horrible compared to official art, jaggies, a lot of places don't look great
Oh yeah. That was a stupid point apologies.
But I just dont get how it looks washed out or Tyranitar looks derpy. Or the Idles for battles.
Or Overworld presentation
And with all they were pandering to, the ONE thing they didn't do was make your rival not be a little bitch for once.
How come a square-shaped tiles world looks so comfy
Does it mean I have autism?
>it's been like 4 months since corocoro revealed Dogarde and French Mecha Pope
>still no news or announcements about 3rd version of X & Y
>Crystal blew them out of the water
It wasn't THAT much different.
Only the post game really blew anything out. Move tutors were nice to have as well.
I never even finished it. I got bored after having played D/P already. It's better, but it wasn't more enjoyable for me.
Fuck you, B/W were great. Wasn't a big fan of the sequels.
nah man, literally the only gen to make the 3 game model work.
I don't get why everyone regards BW/BW2 so highly because of its story and characterization. The premise was nice and there were some interesting designs but all of it was ruined by its hamfisted execution. Yes I get it, Plasma's goals/methods are hypocritical, you don't need to highlight that with every word of dialogue just so toddlers get the idea. No, I don't give a fuck that Bianca is crying, because she gets like 2 lines of dialogue every couple badges and she never had any sort of development to make her sympathetic in any way. Who the fuck is Cheren, even. There's no sense of subtlety or pacing or tone and everything feels rushed just so that you can get back to earning your badges, probably because Satoshi Tajiri has aspergers and doesn't actually know how to write believable human interactions.
XY changed nothing except instead of two useless friends you don't give a shit about it's 4. Why are you even on stage with me, you fucks didn't do anything. Gen 5 was when the series went from a casual, linear RPG to an even more casual, linear RPG and you know it.
>OR/AS were devoid of life
I disagree. I've actually enjoyed a few of the quirks and additions of the game. Also, Norman's gym seemed pretty dramatic for pretty much just having had the father introduced to you.
>Unova was objectively the worst region
Finally someone gets it
Unova worst region, Gen 4 worst gen
Have a rare pokegirl for your troubles
What you have to understand is that from Gen I to Gen IV, Pokemon stories have been very simple, and very much secondary to every other aspect of the series. When BW came along and tried a more ambitious and complex story, it surprised long time fans of the series, and in turn, put them under the perception it was a masterfully written story even though it was terrible. This change in perception especially applied to the underage going through their edgy phase.
This video explains everything perfectly:
Makes sense. It was honestly pretty embarrassing how obvious it was that they were way out of their element when they tried to do a story heavy game. Your explanation perfectly explains why there are so many people on /vp/ who think Gen5 games to be JRPG masterpieces.
Gen I-III were all unique stories
Gen IV is where they started phoning it in with a lot of stuff.
BW has a shit story because they completely copped out of the question Team Plasma brings up
I wish the Ice type didn't suck. At least we got best girl out of it
Yes I'm sure 10 year old you thought this
"Hmm... leaves much to be desired after the superior Yellow version. Thank you for the birthday gift all the same, mother"
I and II barely had anything. And that was fine.
IV and onward, they just copypasted III's "evil team goes for legend, you need to stop them". At least BW gave us an interesting final boss, that was pretty nice.
What the fuck is even happening here, anon?
Best variety in teams
>tfw Sunflora petal dance sweeping Lance somehow
>I and II barely had anything. And that was fine.
Better than fine, in my opinion. I don't think random 10-14 year olds should be the last hope in apocalypse situations time after time
That was a great thing in theory, but really it came off as annoying. If they changed up whatever track was currently playing that'd be cool, but having a special track play for something that's going to happen a lot in short intervals is a bad idea.
These are the official girl rankings, lads.
Who maximum comfy here?
My main grip with the pokemon games is when they just remove features from previous gens. I don't care how "pointless" a feature seems, surely they can't just leave it in. Especially if the new gen is made by just modding the last gen's games.
Man I ended up watching a lot of the Pokemon movies. They are almost all just as bad as that. There's usually about five minutes of something interesting and then a ton of bullshit for an hour.
You want some real comfy?
>LEL GEN 6 IS SO OVERDESIGNED GARBAGE
I will go on a lengthy trip soon and I want something to play on the go. Given how I never played any pokemon games, I thought it might be worth a shot.
Should I just go with the newest?
Wow she's ugly as fuck, why would you start a thread with an ugly gril? Why not a good looking one like Whitney or Dawn or May?
at least we can all agree that the anime has the best pokesluts
Get ready for someone to go on a tangent about weather wars as if fairies, megas and knock off spam is any more enjoyable.
Gen 3 had the most enjoyable competitive. Or maybe it's just that I wasn't autistic enough to continue.
Sneaky pebbles never stopped being cancerous since their introduction.
You're right. Hence why I said 3's was the best competitive scene. 4 wasn't all bad either, except of sneaky pebbles being a TM.
>tfw ice type is so
coolthey have to bog it by giving it abysmal resistances and nerf hail for no reason
Can we all agree that
Team Previewis the worst thing to happen to Pokémon competitively?
>use overstall team
>cries like a schoolgirl cause he gets literally copied
So who's going to get these games and get out to trade like in old days since it probably won't work online but work over wireless instead of cable?
misty a qt
The second half of the region is barebones as all hell and a bunch of little plot hooks are dropped but never actually resolved. There's also the fact that X/Y has jackshit for postgame content, with only R/B/Y having less. The game was rushed as all hell.
True, but you posted the wrong version
Not him, but males have half the clothes selection that females do, everything past full Lumiose feels extremely rushed in comparison to the first half, no following Pokemon, the Victory Road feels extremely shorter than other ones, and the only real post-game content is a couple of Mega Stones in areas you've already been in, the Delta thing, and Zygarde.
Why does everyone forget Ash's wifu Anabel from the battle frontier?
>males have half the clothes selection that females do
I don't know why this made me giggle. They clearly knew who were going to buy these games and for what purposes.
I like BW1 too, but more because I prefer the BW1 protags.
>tfw the first place i'd check whenever i arrived in a new city was not the gym or the mart, but the clothes store
>tfw there was no more purpose in playing after i caught them all
(bought all the the clothes)
> extremely offensive tier
haah waaw how about I punch your shit
Almost certainly never, but the new writers sure love to tease.
I don't watch it either, but from all the shitposting I've seen he's still dense as a brick.
Plus, the writer's intent is for him to be a constant protagonist, they don't really care for any viewers that stick around for long. They actually said that since kinds move on and new ones replace them, rebooting Ash every region can be done with no consequence.
He'll be eternally 10, never win a league, and will never settle down. Some people are also eternally hopeful, but I don't see this changing at all.
About one and a half more years.
Hopefully he isn't bombed by North Korea in that period.
That's why I liked Gen 3 as well, ignoring the few sections which were all plagued by old Pokémon. It helped that Gen 2 hid most of it's new Pokémon in irritating ways.
BW2 felt like some post game expansion with tons of shit to do, but no real substance beyond that.
Now she was the best pokegirl, hands down.
>tfw he drew porn
Fuck Korea and their shitty conscription laws.
