I used to have a lot of fun as a kid playing a racing game with a friend, we'd each use mini coopers, and we'd set one CPU alongside us driving some ridiculously fast supercar. Our goal would be to work together to ram the CPU backwards and achieve a whole reverse lap. It was pretty tough- since we were physically small cars we couldn't fully block the track even if we worked together, and the CPU getting past us even for a second would mean we'd lose 1-2 corners of progress due to their speed. It sounds pretty dumb but we were dumb kids.
Halo 1. It's been almost 15 years so I can't remember the level but it was indoors in a hangar with a bunch of bridges and platforms at various different heights near the ceiling. Me and my cousin used to turn on unlimited plasma grenades and turn everything else off, then strap as many grenades as we could to each other and try and land ourselves on the high platforms with our ragdolling bodies. Higher platforms had higher points, and you could sometimes get 3-4 plasmas at once before the first one detonated. It was pretty damn good.
If we're going by the players' definition of wrong, then fuck competitive play, I have never had a better time in Smash Bros than when my four friends and I are all Cap, Falcon Punch only, doing Lightning Melee on PokeFloats or Big Blue with all explosive items on.
>>323986736 Oh please this is all dependent on the person. I have the most fun 1 on 1 on legal stages. I'm not here to say you're playing wrong or anything I'm just saying not everybody finds your way fun. And like >>323986760 says the game is great because of its customization. You do you and I'm gonna do me.
>>323986090 >Modern Warfare 2 is you want to abuse game mechanics to the point of parody. fucking this, mw2 is still a blast for me almost everytime I play it even though it's such a fucking huge piece of shit, I love it.
Yeah mates, I'm not saying SUPERFALCON 'SPLOSIONFEST is right or wrong, there's just kind of a binary between Masahiro "People Play Time Mode, Right?" Sakurai's vision and the competitive scene that evolved.
I can have fun both ways. The real tragedy, I think, comes from people who deny themselves the fun of both by stubbornly locking themselves into one.
Also, is it just me, or would anyone else KILL to see high-level Melee players do some kind of bizarro-tournament with all items on and all stages random? There doesn't have to be money involved, I just want to see how the ultimate players will mesh with complete and utter chaos. It'd be like fucking Thunderdome.
>>323987117 >playing scout on a pub >at 3 HP capping point >see medic pocketing heavy >MEDIC >MEDIC >MEDIC >MEDIC >get shot and die Retards need to learn that pocket medic doesn't mean you only heal one person.
>>323982325 >TF2 Halloween >Changed name to Frankenheavy >Equipped all the Heavy halloween outfit items, from that evil eye event. >Only use Fists of Steel. >Beat the shit out of people and actually do well, because no one's got the balls to try and melee Frankenheavy.

I agree i like both ways. However the top players literally breath and eat competitive smash. I don't think i have ever seen them play with items on. I have however seen them play on banned stages and low tier characters before but i doubt they would play with items on.
>>323986375 >Play kirby >Get near an edge and hold "b" >Friend running up >"I'm gonna fucking destroy you ano-" >Inhale him and jump off the cliff >He breaks free at the bottom of the stage >Dies >Kirby flies back up and recovers
Jump maps on tf2 all because of how based they are. >Tons of different maps for different skill levels and with things like jump_Academy and jump_beef there's great tutorials for beginners >Makes you get better at playing as a roamer solly because of your ability to move around better >How fast you can go and the cool shit that you can do on the maps >People speedrun these maps so there is a compeitive community behind it >New maps all the time with new ideas
My friends and I used to play "forts" in Mario Kart 64. We'd enter the arena mode or whatever it was called, and launch that square track with the four different colored structures in each quadrant. Each person would declare a structure to be his fort, and then we'd all just drive around collecting banana peels and those bogus item blocks to place around the perimeter of our forts & ramps as "defenses" and then try to snipe each other with green shells.
>Play Free Roam with 4-player split screen >Everyone picks the shitty starter star >All have to drive to edge of the map >Then hop off and run to the garage and grab a star >Take it back to base >Repeat until all of them are gone >Next you challenge people at random in certain "Arenas" (areas of the map that you identified) >You'd drive at each other and spin or side step and attack, doing your best to kill your oppponet >You win by destroying their star >Then you get to claim it when it respawns in the garage
This game was better than gambling. I've wasted 10 hours doing this with friends. It's so much fucking fun.
>Flying caberdemo who only kills snipers/spies - it's the only way I can have fun with TF2 anymore, that rush gets my dick hard. Even better when you target ONE sniper and he spends most of the game just trying to deal with you. >Playing peaceful/"Melee only" in shooters - halo 2 pc on heroic/legendary melee only was some crazy fucking shit let me tell you. >"no punching" in beatemup games like Bamham (You can get through all games using only gadgets/takedowns except for like 2 non-boss fights) >Stupid RPG level restriction runs like NSGNSNCNONENNENBB for FFX >UMS Maps on SC:BW for shit like bounds and tower defense rip especially bounds oh how I miss you Really just stupid challenges in general that push how you can break the game design by not being a filthy fucking casual. playing with casual friends who have no idea what they are doing, watching them struggle, and following their lead in multiplayer games while not saying anything
>>323990730 [s]A lot during 2012, and a little bit in 2014 and early 2015 when a few people were on the server. Mostly randoms I think[/s] Well fuck, that server had some great memories for me on tf2 and now it's gone.
I would play multiplayer on Rome Total War a lot, but there would be those faggots that pick a town defense, make their rules be no artillery or elephants, and pick the Greek City States and choke all the points with veteran spartan warriors with great equipment.
The moment I went into a game and saw the settings as a town battle with huge money and the host was locked in as the Greek City States I fucking knew he was going to pull that dumb turtle bullshit
so I picked Rome, got some praetorians as a defensive line, lined the rest with artillery and just burned the town to the ground before quitting.
he was incredibly butthurt that I was killing his spartans with balls of fire and it was quite carthartic watching the town the spartans were "defending" burn around them.
Any time the engi had a busted update was the best filling up the Intel room with a billion sentries and dispensers or leading an attack while zaping every single rocket and bomb >tfw going up against a soldier and completely destroying him all while he has no idea what is happening
I don't even need to break the game in any way, people get pissed enough just by dying to a pyro >playing pyro >bump into another pyro >its a spy disguised as me >light his ass up >'fucking wm1 pyros fuck off' Glorious
>mfw the dispenser jump to point E on Steel still works >mfw I have it timed so perfectly that I can have a level 2 dispenser and level 2 sentry set up before a scout can possibly reach point E >mfw they'll never ever fix it
