What was the weapon you fell in love with on your first playthrough in every Soul installment?
I played Dark Souls first and stuck with the Halberd until I eventually got a BKH. Eventually though I came to love the Longsword.
In DeS it's the Bastard Sword.
Bloodborne is the Saw Spear, though I love pretty much all the DLC weapons too.
Dark Souls III will probably end up being a strength weapon, I don't like how light and quick the Longsword looks in that, and the Greatsword weapon art looks irresistible.
Anyone who says anything else other then lightning spear is a fucking liar. You either found it and won't admit it, or you didn't find it and fuck you for not playing the game right.
Rapier, just loved the move set
Great club. That and the damage output was pretty knarly for a good while.
Dragonrider's Twinblade was gimped super hard damage wise but the sheer speed of the weapon when its two handed feels nice.
Burial Blade is just amazing because of that sick nasty phantom range in PvP is absolute bullshit sometimes. Almost feel bad when I slice some dude up from a mile away.
Washingpole with a hybrid dex/magic build to buff my shit to do like 2000 damage a hit
DaS - Claymore
Das2 - Bastard Sword
I prefer the versatility of a regular GS over the weight and lack of speed on a UGS, although they are fun as fuck when you wanna just smash shit.
DeS: Penetrator's Sword, War Scythe, Uchigatana, Rapier
DaS: Claymore, Iaito, Halberd, Longsword, Channeler's Trident
DaS II: Manslayer, Longsword, Vanquisher's Seal, Channeler's Trident
Didn't play Bloodborne unafortunately
My build was fucking horrendous and it did loads more damage than anything else I had because my stats were shit
Also I just cheesed the game with fatrolling and a tower shield after I got the spear
DeS was the magic falchion you find in 4-1 or 4-2.
DaS was the Black Knight Sword, but I also loved using the Reinforced Club on my SL1 run.
DaS2 was just the standard battleaxe I bought an hour in and used for the entire game because nothing else seemed interesting and the moveset is nice.
Quelaag's Curved Sword
>Dark Souls 2
Lost Sinner's Sword and Sun Sword/Long Sword powerstance
This is my sword. I know it's not the best but I love it anyway.
Got a lucky titanite catch pole drop in Parish on my first playthrough. That thing is amazing, you can basically go through the entire game with it with only the bare minimum stats requirements. I have no idea why they even made it available that early in the game
Probably the Lucerne in dark souls, I like polearms, and I like war picks/hammers. It also has a nice lunge attack after a backstep, which catches other players off guard pretty often, probably because nobody uses halberds and they don't know the moveset very well.
Can't think of a clear favorite from Demons souls, but I generally used the basic flanged mace that the cleric starts out with, because fuck yeah maces.
I have yet to play DaS2
>DS1 Curved Sword pirouette is back in DS3
I am so fucking ready. I'm ready to like Curved Swords again.
For DaS I played around until I got the halberd, and fell in love with the moveset. Then I started toying around with the Zweihander because I wanted to be le funny may may Giantdad, but I like the stopping power and the weight behind it.
DaS: Claymore. That running attack is pure sex.
DaS2: either dual Caestuses or two-handed Blacksteel Katana. Being able to chain from the running strong into lights was amazing.
BB: Hard tie between the Threaded Cane and Reiterpallasch.
The Halberd was my go to for the absolute longest time, and it's still one of my top favorites. That thing is a killer two-handed.
Butcher "Knife" is another top biller for me, especially with a FTH build.
The Man-Serpent Greatsword, hands down.
The Uchigatana, Washing Pole, and Demon's Great Machete are close runner ups, though. I feel like Dark Souls has a ton of awesome and fun weapons, but I have a hard time until I get a good one.
>Dark Souls 2
I had a hard time finding a weapon I truly loved. I stuck with the Large Club for my first playthrough and it was pretty serviceable but once I finally discovered the Gyrm Axe and, even more so, the Gyrm Greataxe, I never looked back. The Lion Axe is nice too.
I tried a lot of weapons and most of them have great strengths and weaknesses, but, for me, nothing tops the Kirkhammer. I know it's generally seen as a weaker Ludwig's but I fucking love it.
Hunter's Axe is my backup and it's absolutely lovely as well. I can't wait to try out the DLC one day.
bb: lugwids holy blade
What was the most disappointing weapon?
I almost shat a brick when I found a whip in DaS, but they're utterly useless as anything but a meme weapon to annoy PVP turtles.
DeS: Crushing Battle Axe I didn't really understand how the stats worked. But I knew if I increased strength with the axe, then I do more damage. I liked the moveset as well. It was the weapon I beat Flame Lurker with.
DaS: Halberd. I had a slightly better understanding of stats by this point. I liked the halberd's reach and immediacy. When you press attack, the thing barely moves, and the tip does a great amount of damage. It was perfect!
DaS2: I hated all the weapons. Holy shit. They also suck. Fuck all of the weapons feel like shit. I don't even remember what my first playthrough weapon was.
DeS: Dragon Bone Smasher. It's kind of cheating because I knew about it before I ever played DeS, and I
looked up how to get it.
DaS1: Black Knight Greataxe. Fucking love its design and it was good as fuck.
DaS2: I think I used the Drangleic Sword my first playthrough. I used the Crypt Blacksword on my second playthrough after figuring out how to get it in my first one, though.
BB: Hunter's Axe. My two favorite weapon types in games (Axe and Halberd) combined into one.
I was a Zweifag from start to finish first playthrough.
Used Threaded Cane first third of the game, the Saw Cleaver the second third, and Ludwigs/BoM for the last third.
In DeS and DaS2 I switched around a lot all the way through.
Will probably be bastard sword
I never liked the ultra greatsword or greatsword type weapons and short/longswords were too weak for my liking, so the Bastard sword was a happy medium. As for the Kirkhammer, it's just satisfying to smash things with.
The cestus, and by extension, the Dragon Fist
Nigga all I wanted to do was to go around beating the shit out of motherfuckers as a boxer. But literally nobody chooses Path of the Dragon.
Those were title bouts, you see. I had a thing in mind. I ran through the whole game using only fist weapons, and if an enemy dropped gear, I'd wear it as a belt.
That, and I fucking LOVED the boar helmet.
Helberds type weapons are pretty fucking awesome in general in Dark Souls. Dat reach + damage + moveset is a winning combination for most situations. Only way you could possibly improve on them is to make one with strike damage
Probably the BKH or Ultra Greatsword
Used Bandit Axe for close combat, Ultra Greatsword for crowd sweeping, and Dragonrider's Bow
Bandit Axe had the best moveset
sure it had all that but after i beat the game i felt nothing to continue playing for the side content, unlike dark souls 1 and 2, both games i immediately went back to clear all that side content and go straight into ng+
Nothing, boring weapons honestly, everything's the same within the class, who cares
>Dark Souls 2
Iron King Hammer
Chikage / Rakuyo. Don't even like katanas, but those were FUN.
On my first Dark Souls run, I switched 50/50 between halberd and claymore, although I can't remember which I clicked with first. They're still two of my favourite weapons in the series, I just hate how the halberd sucks in DaS2 and DeS. The movesets feel like shit in other games and the damage was practically halved.
DaS, Claymore, Divine specifically.
DeS, I kind of just resorted to the Claymore again, didn't really fall in love with any weapon too much.
Bloodborne though? Fucking Tonitrus, love at first L1. Most satisfying thing in that whole game for me is smacking bitches upside the head with it.
A fucking skeleton parried me once while using twinblades. A fucking skeleton, that's how easy they are to parry, also their damage is pretty balanced only thing that made them "broken" was how fast they applied poison and bleed.
Blade of Mercy. TOH was Holy Moonlight Blade.
I try to mix it up with every game. I'll probably make my first character in DaS3 a faith build, or a pyromancer.
>and it had a lot of side content that you might have missed the first time.
That's the part that sucked for me, I looked up a wiki after finishing it. The only thing I missed was one 2 of the Umbilical Cords.
I even found the mother brain. The way loot was distributed as well made exploring just a snorefest.
The DLC was fantastic though, but I can't be fucked going through the half the game again to make new builds for the new weapons.
And don't get me started on the fucking chalice dungeons.
Dark Souls was the Claymore. Versatile and straightforward, looked great on my shoulder.
DS2 was the Gyrm Axe. It wasn't great in PVP sadly, but it hit like a fucking runaway train.
I haven't played Bloodborne, but I really like the Threaded Cane in action.
2-handing the Great Sword carried me through most of Demon's Souls, add in the Silver Catalyst for ranged attacks and Adjudicator's Shield + Regenerator's Ring and I was pretty much invincible for the last 1/3 of my playthrough.
Playing Dark for the first time (on Sen's Fortress right now), I was rocking the Zwei for a while but traded that in it for the Dark Knight Sword + shield and added pyromancy to give me some range.
I've only gotten the chance to play a tiny bit of Bloodborne but I loved the axe's spin attack.
Well that's great and all, but they don't play like the greatsword or any of the ultra greatswords, and bastard swords, by virtue of being bastard swords, aren't greatswords. The game probably just classifies them as such for simplicity's sake since classifying them as "not quite a shortsword by not really a longsword or greatsword either" wouldn't exactly be concise and to the point.
Threaded cane before dlc came out.
"Too good" as you put it would qualify as broken in my opinion.
Mundane santier's spear and dual sanctum crossbows was pretty broken at one point too.
At least they bothered to patch their game once they realised their mistake.
Just think about dark magic in DaS pre-patch. Tha was broken.
Abyss greatsword for DS1
Haven't found anything similar in ds2
Rolled as a Temple Knight, didn't used anything else until NG+. That class was too OP, I used a Dragon Halberd because I was a pleb and didn't understand how scaling worked.
Black Knight Sword. Love how it looks, love how it swings
Heide Knight Sword. Loved the looks and using it two handed.
I am poor and can not afford a PS4 right now :(
I'm having a lend of an idiot who called twinblades memeweapons that should be removed from the franchise and then backing his argument up by saying they're "broken in PvP" but apparently that doesn't mean their good weapons.
I'm just shitting with him anon, no need to get fanny flustered.
>"Too good" as you put it would qualify as broken in my opinion.
That's my point. The other anon is the one saying "broken in PvP" means something other than "too good".
this is true, I thought it had the best combat in the series, but weapons being really specific to builds that only allowed the use of like 2 other weapons (usually sub optimal), it fell short on replay value for me, like it exists only to pvp in, as new game+ is boring as fuck.
And even then, I couldn't bother making a pure PVP character after my first clear, my first run was a quality str/skl build that used ludwigs, which is so noob friendly it may have killed some enjoyment.
My second build was going to be a skill bloodtinge build to roll reiterpallasch or maybe flip it to a bt/skl build and use chikage, but couldn't bother to play through the game again.
Still I loved the game, but it does feel it lacks the replay value that other souls games have just from build variation alone, despite its stellar combat.
Majestic Greatsword from the Iron Crown DLC.
Way better than in DaS1. Have to left hand it, though.
2hL2 - 2hr2 combos, meaning the jump slam has a real use.
The 1hL2 double spin actually hits twice.
The Bastard Sword followed by the Meat Cleaver
>Dark Souls 1
The Claymore and the Dragon Greatsword
>Dark Souls 2
I didn't fall in love.
Stake Driver and Canon
I forget which sword I used but eventually found the lightning spear which is pretty op for the next few areas.
now I use lightning claymore and love it.
in demon souls I just used faster swords and ended up using a the blueblood sword the speed and dmg sure is nice,
The second I saw that Dragon Bone Smasher I was in love
Pursuers Ultra Greatsword
Ludwigs Holy Blade
Basically the bigger the sword the more I enjoy it
My DaS weaponfu is the Estoc. I started with the scimitar and then in undead parish decided it was shit and just tried out the first weapon in my inventory that did higher damage. I didn't understand the mechanics too well like scaling and such so I didn't understand it wasn't the best weapon, but after a while I just got so used to it anything else felt wrong. Besides, thrusting swords are perfect for turtling.
My favorite Souls weapons of all time, judge me faggots
Dragon Bone Smasher
Storm Ruler (i fucking love the Storm Ruler)
Silver Knight Straight Sword
>implying i played DS2
Ludwig's Holy Sword
All the weapons from the DLC
>backed up important folders, etc.
>boot Dark Souls 1-2
>all of my saves got wiped
Apparently the save files are not stored in the game folder or documents, and not supported by Steam Cloud.
Definitely the Server.
Still my favorite weapon.
140 counter strength.
Used to infinitely stunlock players with 1hr1s.
The spinning roll attack seems better until you realize how good the downward slam of the zweihander is.
Why should they parry at all? In Bloodborne whenever you fight a hunter they can parry you randomly and that sucks ass.
Shit weapon that looks like shit and doesn't even have the scaling or range of the murukumo or the thrusts of the gravelord greatsword.
I can't believe none of you have mention the Logarius Wheel yet.
Nothing more fun than purging vilebloods with the power of the wheel.
>In Bloodborne whenever you fight a hunter they can parry you randomly and that sucks ass.
yea because in Bloodborne they insta parry without warning which is shit. If it's telegraphed then it's all good.
I just liked the special R2 anon. I had just come off of over a thousand hours of Demon's Souls and the second I learned that weapons in Dark Souls were going to have unique special attacks, I was hyped. I did shoot arrows at the hellkite dragon because that's how i killed the dragons in DeS and that's what my instinct told me to do, and yes I did get the Drake Sword super early, and yes it outclassed the other weaposn i was using for quite a bit, but unlike many others i didn't fall into the trap of using it like a crutch. I just spammed the R2 to feel fancy and only cleared upper and lower burg with it. When i got to the forest, and blight town, i was using the claymore.
Honestly none have stuck out to me as much as the Composite Bow. My Das1 bow only playthrough was surprisingly my most fun one, mans the composite bow was the star.
Giant dragon sword. Turned 1-3 into bitchmode.
>Press R1 to fuck everything in a half-circle
>Counter poking someone with the greatsword's R2 while wearing the Leo Ring
>Total OG weapon that looks fucking awesome but doesn't even have the scaling or range of the murukumo or the thrusts of the gravelord greatsword.
I agree. Especially about how amazing it looks. Fortunately B scaling is not that far behind the A scaling of the Murakumo. I have won more than enough ganks with it to know it does its job well. Is it as good as the Murakumo? No. But who the fuck plays Dark Souls with the best stats?
I mean I am all for using good weapons but I more focus on things that have good stats AND that I like the looks of.
A quick rolling giantdad with a bunch of buffs and Abyss Greatsword. has better stuff but is clearly the faggot in the duel.
I feel like the max upgraded greatclub doesnt get enough love
as you can see i have an incredibly varied and versatile play style for any situation
Bastard sword and claymore are the same speed. They are both faster than weapons like the black knight sword.
Please do not spread such misinformation.
>overall better at stunlocking
They're about the same. Bastard Sword's 1hr2 can infinitely stunlock, but Claymore's 1hr2-1hr1-1hr1 infinitely stunlocks too.
>Basic Scimitar (the first sword I found in the game, in all of souls, that my character didn't start with. Rad moveset and "fast" speed, even among Demons Souls standards)
>Blue Blood Sword
>Balder Meme Sword
Dark Souls 2
>Magic Mace (yes that one, you all know which one it is)
>Grand Lance (before scholar edition came out, because it was rare and strong)
Actually I like ALL the Bloodborne weapons. So picking the two above was very difficult.
At what point in time did I say it was the superior weapon?
I said I like the look of the Server more. That is why I like it more. I'm not even fucking arguing with you... unless you are saying I don't like the look of the server more? If that is the case I think this conversation is done.
Dragon Bone Smasher
I DID IT
I BEAT ARTORIAS
I've never felt so happy in a game before. I've died so many times and was about to call it quits until now. I'm shaking
You're favorite weapon looks like shit and its blade is dull.
It would have been perfect if it was buffable.
In DeS it's the Dragonbone Longsword
DaS it's Quelaag's Fury Sword
DaS II it's the Warped Sword
For the most part, if it's imbued with fire and light on the equip load, it's my kind of weapon.
uhhhhh I liked the greatsword UGS
Always a curved sword.
DeS I loved the Large Sword of Searching and Kilij
DaS was Falchion of course
DaS2 was some big green curved greatsword I don't fucking know fuck DaS2
BB was the Cane, fuck I loved that thing.
>Hits for near Greatsword levels of damage
>Swings fast and like an axe
>So fast you are almost guaranteed a second hit if you land the first
>Blunt damage type
>Low endurance cost
>It's Andre of Astora's own smithing hammer
I've gone through most of my current playthrough with Craftsman's Hammer. It just works for everything.
Even though I only use huge weapons that smash shit into dust i love the diversity and all the different builds people do
I know. It was just an example. I forgot my example was being critiqued. I am saying the guy who builds his character around the best armor and highest damage weapon takes the game too seriously.
The point I was making is that B scaling was more than good enough for me to win a fight. On top of that this was a thread about the weapon you used
>on your first playthrough
I didin't find every weapon my first playthrough because it was a blind playthrough. I had little to no prior knowledge of Dark Souls before I played it. I didn't know what was the best weapon stat wise. Hell, I wasn't smart enough to figure out how online worked until I was on my second playthrough. The Server was the weapon I used my first playthrough, and it is still my favorite design of any weapon in a Souls game.
If you think its dumb looking. Or if you think its bad. Thats fantastic. But it doesn't change my love of the weapon.
On first playthrough of DaS.
Yes, it is halberd for me. It's beautiful. Deadly, and yet weighty enough that I need to think before using.
I also just killed the Chaos Witch first try with it
>not using mask of mother for the extra hp, hollow soldier waistcloth for poise, heater shield for best stability per weight, and chaos rapier for backstabs
>not being a total cock sucking faggot who eats dicks and ruins the pvp experience
Personally I ran full havels with mask of the father becasue i liked the stamina
Bkugs/Demon Great Machete
the Whirligig weedcutter
I pvp about 200-1000 hours every installment.
Does anyone have the Hylian shield mod from DS1? I need it. It has to be pic related.
Yeah. I was too busy mixing and matching armor and not understanding the stats yet.
I liked DeS because this shit was hammer side out unlike DaS2 that had the pick first what the fuck.
Dark Souls: Zweihander. Say what you will, switching to a weapon that could pancake most enemies in the game made it much more fun for my first run (found it just before entering sen's funhouse)
Dark Souls 2: Halberd. The halberd moveset in DS2 was so much better than it was in DS1, I used it for almost the entire game (upgraded to mastodon's halberd which is pretty much a straight upgrade)
DeS: Started off as the temple knight I think, the one with the halberd. I never stopped using it.
>you didn't like the weapons in DeS? lol you didnt play DeS!
>you didn't like the levels in DeS? lol you didn't play DeS!
>you didn't find flamelurker or maneaters hard and called the rest of the bosses a joke? lol you didn't play DeS!
What's wrong with DeSfags?
Nothing can ever be wrong with their total masterpiece, YOU JUST DIDNT PLAY IT
Curved Dragonsword is pretty dope in DaS2.
As for DaS1 I'd use Uchigatana for dex builds and Zwei or Claymore for strength.
>I played Dark Souls first and stuck with the Halberd until I eventually got a BKH.
Everything I use after the halberd is shit.
Currently forcing myself to use claymore. It's just a worse halberd, fuck.
I never said any of those things.
but you said
>Nothing, boring weapons honestly, everything's the same within the class, who cares
Which is objectively WRONG.
honestly, your reaction makes me really think you havent played it.
At the very least list the weapon you used the most.
I play all the souls games and love them equally.
you seem to have this mentality that the fanbase is different for each game.
Im guessing you only play games on PC, right?
>Dragon Bone Smasher
my fucking nigger, these three are the best
especially Scraping Spear
>Balder Side Sword
Yeah it's a meme but with good reason, it's a great weapon
>Mace/Heide Knight Sword
Power stanced these together from like an hour in and never stopped, fucking ridiculous
God, invading in Latria and sending fags flying with stormruler has been the peak of the series for me.
Also rolling R1 with greataxe/halberd running R1 when Im summoned to be old monk.
And I played the series in this order btw,
DaS2, DaS, DeS, BB
It's the same shit anyone defending DeS does. See here:
>>323992361, right in your post.
You're both still doing it. You're incapable of suffering complaints against Demon's Souls without this.
Any complaint made is met from your PS3 high horse and assumptions.
Do you even realize this? Why is this?
I don't really have a weapon I used the most. I guess I liked the Secret Dagger and Geri's Stiletto.
The Secret Dagger is a good example of what I mean. It's just the best dagger, statistically superior.
Admittedly, there's an odd one out weapon in most categories which is good for twinking and not much else. Baby's Nail, Stormruler, Dozer Axe.
They're not what you're going to use if you're not. No, you'll use the Secret Dagger instead of the Parrying Dagger / Dagger in any situation, and the Great Axe over the Dozer Axe.
Estoc in DeS. Ever since I've always went toward rapier weapons. Had an interesting build in DkS2 that was a lot of fun.
>right hand Espada Ropera
>left hand old whip
does the bleed proc faster as it gets upgraded? it didn't seem to kick in until a monster was dead for me. didn't even bother with it on a boss, though.
the gargoyle halberd is only special in looks, isn't it?
This fucking thing.
God I love its twohanded heavy attack.
That isnt baby's nail
Also dozer axe is fucking sexy looking, even if it has little to no scaling.
Stormruler is also pvp king, if you think its useless, youve never been invaded/invade with one.
I used Halberd on my first playthrough of Dark Souls, even though I put my early points on DEX and planned to do a Wanderer build with slash-weapon, like I did on Demon's Souls with Crescent Falchion. Tempted to do an Uchigatana run, but I don't want to play too similar character again.
> Black Knight Shield.
> Black Knight Halberd
Got it from the very first Black Knight, and the one in the forest, respectively.
Not only did it make the game an absolute cakewalk, but I adore how they play. I figure I'll grind out the complete black knight set to finish the look.
>anvil on a stick
souls games are letting themselves go with the memes
>I figure I'll grind out the complete black knight set
That's not how you get it, though.
Also, if you end up having high strength and dexterity, use the Gargoyle's halberd instead. I think it has worse base stats, but better scaling, and it's a lot lighter.
yeah missing was always shit, but there didn't seem to be a ton of instances of shit hitboxes that weren't fixed with lockless.
narrow spaces were never a problem, though, and that was my favorite part about it. the heavy sweep even got limited use during catacombs.
Dropped from the Knight on the Tower in Parish on my very first Playthrough, I spent all my stats to where I could wear it and never changed Weapons afterwards.
no, you just didnt list the weapon you used the most, which was the whole point of this thread.
>thinking any souls game is superior to others
they are all different m8.
each with their own gimmicks.
I think you have a case of "Hurrdurr DeSfag boogeymen" if people cant bring up the fucking game without you somehow thinking anyone is claiming superiority. That said, all the weapons in DeS have different utilities, and different weapons in the same class may have different scaling, or be simply for style, something that DaS AND DaS2 does as well. Same weapon movesets on weapons in the same class.
>anvil attached to a pole
Man, you don't get what I'm saying. If I state I Don't Like Thing about Demon's Souls, you and others repeatedly assume I've never played Demon's Souls.
This is true any time anywhere on /v/, of any aspect of the game.
It's more than a little annoying, and makes me hate the DeS posters.
That said, no, Demon's Souls doesn't do weapon diversity like Dark Souls. Or Dark Souls 2, even.
Using the dagger example again, let's take a look, you're not off this autism reply train yet.
Identical to Dagger. Doesn't parry better than other daggers.
Inferior to Secret Dagger.
The one you'll use.
The one you'll maybe use if you're twinking, because in actual pvp the other guy is liable to twoshot you and dark moon grass. In PvE, well... There's bearbugs.
Unique r2s that deal quick jabs.
Unique r2s with wide slashes. Bleeds, high critical.
Unique multi-hit dancing r2s. If it bleeds a target, takes 50% of their health.
Unique multi-hit slash r2s. Cursed weapon, deals damage to ghosts. Drop rate on par with pure bladestone.
Unique L2. Parries.
Unique silver trace on attacks. Mail breaker r2s that deal high toxic buildup. Highest critical bonus in game.
Geris stilletto is great if you dont into duping grass.
Baby's nail similar to the scraping spear is great for fucking with people.
Sharp secret dagger +5 will ohko on backstabs easily.
Parrying dagger DOES indeed have more parry frames.
great when offhanded with an estoc.
Dagger is just there till you get your secret dagger.
>using daggers in any souls game.
Im not even part of your reply train, but CMON anon.
like I said, quit lumping me in with "DeS boogeymen"
When obviously you are fucking wrong.
Demons souls doesnt even come close to having as many weapons as dark souls, especially because its the first game in the series, that said, Im not excusing any lack of weapon variety, im just saying what is there is fine in the context of the game as a standalone title. Quantity doesnt mean shit when everything in the game is so goddamned broken its balanced. each weapon DOES have their own functions, save for MAYBE the starting class weapons, which you'll find superior versions of later in the game.
>mfw they nerfed mundane daggers in DaS2
I think you messed up your lines there. Geri's Stiletto is a rapier.
>Parrying dagger DOES indeed have more parry frames.
That's not what it says, it says
>The parry animation of this dagger lasts longer
Which it doesn't. It's the same animation.
>Baby's nail similar to the scraping spear is great for fucking with people.
Yes, that's what I've said. It's for twinking. But again, dark moon grass duping is a thing.
>Sharp secret dagger +5 will ohko on backstabs easily.
Cursed Weapon Sharp Estoc does that better. Northern Regalia does about the same. A lot of weapons OKHO on backstabs.
>Dagger is just there till you get your secret dagger.
Yeah. It's just there. It's a downgrade. There's nothing for it, like many weapons in the game. This is my complaint.
Daggers are great in DeS and DaS2.
You've got pushlocking light weapon, that long range first 2hr1 stab, unparalleled speed, etc in DeS.
In DaS2, they're just good all around, fast, good movesets especially on the bandit knife, fun powerstance, all that.
You'd be better off with a crystal rapier.
In Das1 I preferred the starting Addams used that up until bosses started pushing my shit in. Then as a pure strength and endurance build, I changed over to BKshield and Zweihander. The fucking zwei was easy mode. Got all achieved in das1 using it. It staggered just about anyone and anything with the 2h heavy attack. Even Smoughgot his shit wrecked.
In das2 I used the axe again. Then the zwei again. Them fell in love with the Greatsword. Got all achieves with that. Then moved onto Dragonslayer axe and guardian greataxe.
Everyone always wants awesome swords but axes are left out in the cold every time. Sure the movesets are nothing special but I can't tell you the number of times I crushed invaders with nothing more than the standard axe you can buy from the blacksmith and proper stats
never have, and never will make a meme build, sorry friend
I had the strength but not the dexterity lmao.
But I ended up grinding Sen's Fortress for souls so i could finally wield those ridiculous Burger King weapons (i was super luck and had the sword, greatsword, and great axe all drop)
Low SL combat is NOT TWINKING
Twinking in DaS refers to the time people used to use the bottomless box glitch to dupe/twink weapons to a new character.
That said, its been patched out so "twinking" doesnt even exist in DaS anymore.
Fuck off with this screwed up terminology.
Source: Twinking refers to dumping items from a high lvl character to a low lvl character via shared storage or mule characters. Just because someone pvps with an SL1 character doesnt make them a twinker.
Omg I know. The 2h mace those big knights wield were awesome. Sucks you couldn't get their weapons.
Demons greathammer meh. Peripherally "grant" was awesome for a stre/faith build.
Das2 has some cool ones. Drakekeeper guardian Warpick, greathammer, the Gyrm anvil on a stick.
>That said, its been patched out so "twinking" doesnt even exist in DaS anymore.
Eh, not necessarily
You could still get your high leveled/overpowered weapons to your low leveled character post-patch assuming you had at least one friend who'd help you trade.
There are people who best the game at like level 20 aren't there? I know I beat das1 at like level 50 at my lowest. Took a while but I wanted to keep it challenging and keep SL low enough to still get summoned.
That's not the definition of twinking. Twinking is invading with max upgraded stuff and gear and skill that ensures you will kill the host.
>just because someone invades 2-1 with a +5 baby's nail, storm ruler, adjucator's+5, acid cloud, backup dragon mirdan hammer+5 all made through duping doesn't make it twinking
>just because someone invades undead parish with a +5 lightning hand axe, +5 ascended pyromancy flame with black flame, 99 humanity, giants+5 doesn't make it twinking
>just because someone invades cardinal tower with a +5 ice rapier, ring of blades+2, flynn's ring, hexer's+5, and warmth doesn't make it twinking
Don't be this dumb
Still playing through it, haven't had anything really click yet
Lucerne, silver knight sword is right behind it though
>Dark souls 2
Really didn't stick with a single weapon here since everything breaks so quick but on my first playthrough when I decided to make the defenders greatsword I stuck with it the rest of the game
"Magical" Sword Makoto is my waifu but Blessed Claymore is still pretty freaking badass.
I want to love the Chikage but I can't. I still haven't given up though. Holy Moonlight Sword is my current favorite.
That's where the terminology of twinking came from you uncultured swine. Do you think people just randomly started calling the bottomless box abusers twinks because they're hairless gay boys?
I just want some "traditional" big maces. Like those what Tower Knights are wielding, but not shit like Great Club which looks just like a giant fucking log that doesn't match with any armor properly.
Perhaps DS3 will feature more Warhammers.
how is someone gonna mule a character to drop off items to a sl 1?
you need to be within 10 fucking lvls to summon someone.
O wait "just because IM not good enough to beat the game at SL 1 means NO ONE IS"
none of those are twinking, just Low SL combat.
You cant just dump off items between characters either, because SL restrictions.
All of those setups are legitimate and feasible at low SL, NOT "twinking", which doesnt exist anymore. STOP substituting the term "TWINKING" for "low Sl invader"
You dupe the materials and such yourself in Demon's Souls.
No, that is what twinking means in the context of the Souls series.
Deal with it, twink. Does it offend you to be called out on it?
THANK YOU ANON.
fuck Ive been trying to tell people this shit for SO. FUCKING.
its like soulsfags dont remember bottomless box glitch anymore, and "twink" just became some fags buzzword to criticize the game.
The Mace was my best fucking friend in Dark souls 2, carried me through most of the game.
In release order:
>DRAGON BONE SMASHER
I am the embodiment of HUGE
Let's hope so anon. I'm all about the more traditional weapons too myself. I mean some of the more "fantasy" weapons are pretty cool, but I do prefer the standard weapon skins. Pic related. I already have all achieves o. Das2 but I started a new cleric character I'll be building into a stre/faith build centered around this weapon. Lightning damage by default and only gets stronger with lightning infusion.
My achieve characters are always named Persistence
New guy In named "Helping Hand" because I plan to go full Sun-bro and help others on tougher fights.
It's irrelevant what it meant in some garbage MMO.
Again, until you understand. This is what twinking means in the context of the Souls series, whether you like it or not.
Did you miss the part in your education where words can have multiple meanings and contexts? And even change?
"Low SL combat". Pfft. It's being a faggot in an attempt to harvest tears.
>until your swing completely missed and your recover time is so long, you get backstabbed into Oblivion all day everyday.
For pve? Strength/faith all day everyday. Seems most invaders are all Hex/mage builds with sex weapons.
How? He's correct in this case.
Of course low SL(or in DKs 2's case, soul memory) PVP is a thing, usually doing it with maxed out equipment is called twinking. Don't see why you're being a little shit about it.
no, because hes saying that you need to get a weapon from a HIGH lvl character to a low lvl character. meaning the low lvl character would have to invade the high lvl friend to get weapons--- that honestly he wouldnt even be able to use since SL 1 wouldnt have the stats for it.
If you're good enough to get to a non populated zone at SL 1, you're usually good enough to complete an SL1 RUN.
Also, pyromancy is easy as SHIT to get to black at sl 1, at blight town. You dont need a friend to hand you one of those things.
Reinforced club makes this game baller easy.
twinking IN SOULS
abusing the bottomless box glitch to twink items between characters.
This matches the mmo term correctly.
>"Im gonna use a word in improper context because words CHANGE"
This is you
twinking is no longer possible.
Also, twinking/twinker ISNT an INSULT either, like you seem to be trying to force it so.
nearly everyone in mmos "twinks" items down to their alt characters off of their mains, and "mule" characters are also referred to as twinks/twinkers
But you can go ahead and blame invaders who are good enough to finish SL 1 runs as somehow being "cheaters", if it makes up for your lack of skill thereof.
no, transfer of weaponry form a high lvl character to a character so low lvl it would be impossible to get is "twinking"
all shit easy to get at SL 1 and doesnt require "twinking"
"twink" as an insult in souls didnt really start until DaS2 came out on pc, and people wanted any excuse to not play DaS1.
"Oh I dont want to deal with twinks"
was a common buzzphrase.
Twinks referring to bottomless box glitchers.
but its been patched, so its no longer feasible.
You also cant trade at low SL since you get like, what 4 invasion orbs off the start?
if youre good enough to beat 4 kings at SL 1, youre good to go.
Just wearing maxed armor doesnt refer to "twink" either.
its the reference to where the armor CAME FROM, the bottomless box glitch.
You guys are fucking new, and werent around pre bottomless box patch, I get it, but FUCK. OFF.
You're wrong, even in the context you mean.
Have you ever watched a stream of Dark Souls 2 on the PS4?
Entirely full of people with 99 everything, at low levels, at set SM ranges, whatever.
They get passed down things from other people who back up and replace their save.
That is the twinking you mean.
Now. How many times is this? Twinks are invaders with unfair equipment. This includes the context you mean.
Twinking in the SOULS context, not the MMO context, means invading with equipment the host cannot have / cannot hope to match.
Hammer this into your brain, kiddo.
I don't even know where you got the implication that I think twinking is cheating. It's easy to twink. Souls games aren't hard. SL1 is a welcome challenge.
Do you get this triggered when someone says they one-shot a boss, and by that meant they killed it in one
My god, you believe this. You really do. This is why you're so booty bothered, you're offending by being called a faggot for being an unkillable asshole invader with maxed gear.
>You guys are fucking new, and werent around pre bottomless box patch, I get it, but FUCK. OFF.
I was actually arguing in your favor that getting upgraded gear to a low leveled character didn't require twinking, just having a friend hold your equipment.
>invading with equipment the host cannot have / cannot hope to match.
theres a reason I stand around in human form at parish with my Blackflame SL 1 character.
there is no TWINK in a souls context in DaS1 anymore, moron. Not since bottomless box was patched. DaS2, yeah, because SM is broken
But go ahead and eat up DaS2 apologists buzzwords/insults.
>host is a higher soul level, probably has two phantoms with him if he's in human form
>it's somehow "unfair" to invade him with good equipment
Holy shit, get a grip. I didn't cry when I first got invaded by a faggot with a scraping spear in DeS so you niggers shouldn't cry that you got backstabbed by a lightning hand axe in the parish.
The dragon bone smasher in Demon's Souls
The claw in Dark Souls
The (mastodon) halberd and greatsword in Dark Souls 2
The Tonitrus and Boom Hammer in Bloodborne
>being so bad of the "big bad invader" that he cant just either A. go hollow
or B. dodge the easily avoidable fire magic.
its easy to fire shots when you cant tell the tone of a post. I dont blame anon for assuming crap. that said, yeah its real easy to get maxed shit at low SL.
Reinforced club is my weaponfu on my SL1.
BKUGS on my main.
Twinking did not exist when Bottomless Box Glitch was around.
Every phantom, every host, every invader had out lightning uchigatanas or what have you.
Right. It doesn't matter that you can oneshot people and take single digit damage. There's more of them and one of you!
>Twinking did not exist when Bottomless Box Glitch was around.
What the fuck am I reading?
Giants+5, Black Iron+5, Havel's, 99 humanity. You ain't gonna take shit.
>still able to fast roll
Who cares? You're taking single digit damage from their +2 longswords or whatever.
In the Parish.
Do you.. know what bottomless box glitch was?
>You're taking single digit damage from their +2 longswords or whatever.
And you'll die instantly from the sunbro's lightning spear or get bled out by the white phantom's uchi.
How many attempts did what take me? That was just some random co-op on Kalameet. It took me two tries to kill Kalameet solo, but I didn't cut off his tail.
Dropped by undead merchant in UNDEAD BURG.
You just proved you dont even know the areas in the game, just fucking stop.
also, wearing that equipment puts you at walking speed overburdened at SL1, makeing you EASY prey to get BSed by people strafing with shields up.
I should know, I do it all the time on my playthroughs when a person invades with that shit.
it needs 14 dex, 14 str. 10 str if you wanna 2 hand it, I think, so I dont think its possible at SL 1
If you're invading with a lightning whatever, and the host has a lightning whatever, since both of you are BB glitchers, where's the twinking? Everyone can have that equipment.
A host in the parish cannot have a lightning whatever post bb-glitch patch. If you've got one, that's twinking.
Jesus, this babysitting I'm doing here. Can't expect much of demon's souls fags, but man.
No. Even imagining the impossible situation that you would ever, EVER get hit by a lightning spear, even while fatrolling, a lightning spear does 300 to a naked guy at that faith level.
Giants+5 has gigantic lightning defense.
If you get hit enough times by an uchi to bleed when you're able to oneshot there's something wrong with you.
At least try to read the posts you're replying to.
>Every phantom, every host
furthermore bottomless box glitch was an exploit that allowed you to delete a character, but still keep the contents of their bottomless box.
When you overwrote the save slot, the new character would have ALL the contents of their bottomless box.
this was "twinking"
You just proved you're a retard. Congrats.
Lightning. How do you make a lightning weapon? Do YOU know the areas in the game? Tip: it's beyond the Undead Parish.
Also, no, you can midroll in full giants at SL1, with a weapon.
Started Demons' Souls with this. At the end I only replaced the shield
>implying its hard to get to giant blacksmith at SL1
literally GIT GUD
Great! You're ALMOST THERE! You're just about ready to COMPREHEND MY POSTS!
Give it a little thought, and maybe, just maybe, a miracle will occur and you'll understand!
>playing NG DaS with a Zweihander +15
>go 2h and use power R attacks
>can stagger almost any boss, including Taurus Demon, 4kids, and Seath
>utterly wreck the entire playthrough
it isn't even fair with it
but a person who has done so at SL 1-- LEGITIMATELY is not a twink, you dumb piece of shit.
Again, twinking refers to moving equipment between character without having to make progression on character.
Its a baseless insult by DaS2fags pre bottomless box patch.
Oh, but hang on, it's too hard as is. I can't expect you to understand.
Here's the full thing so you don't have to hurt yourself thinking of how it all fits together.
The host, the invader, and the phantom all have lightning weapons in the Parish.
They are all bottomless box glitchers.
The host, SURPRISE, due to the bottomless box glitch, has not been to Anor Londo.
These are the lightning whatevers.
In this situation, all have equal, maxed equipment.
This is not a twink environment.
The host, and the phantom have +0~5 weapons, unupgraded armor, perhaps 1 or 2 humanity.
The invader is http://mmdks.com/7wk1
The host and the phantom cannot hope to kill the invader. The invader is untouchable, takes single digit damage, and if some miracle brings him down he can poise heal in a corner.
This. This is a twink. This is what twinking means in the context of the Souls series. NOT the MMO context, which is different.
Grasp this information if you can. Words - can - have- multiple - meanings - and - contexts.
And here we go! It's the full circuit loop of retardation, we're back to >>323992008
There's no hope for you.
Situation A IS twinks. they are ALL twinkers.th host, the phantoms, the invader EVERYONE.
you seem to think twink is mutually exclusive to invaders. It isnt you dumb bag of duplo bricks!
Assuming we're playing on a version of the game that has the bottomless box glitch
Situation A, the host is definitely twinking. The phantom and the invader may or may not be twinking
Situation B, the invader may or may not be twinking
It seems you're the one who doesn't understand what it means.
you should be banned for pure idiocy.
I cant fathom how fucking dumb a person can be.
Are you a millennial? stay in school, kid.
DeS - Moonlight Greatsword
DaS - Uchigatana
DaS2 - Powerstanced Greatswords, one with lightning resin one with fire resin, looked badass.
Later mixed it up with Powerstanced Smelter and Ancient Smelter Greatswords
Oh, no, it's not. Of course it isn't.
Invaders can be twinks, phantoms can be twinks, hell, with some pre-planning, hosts can be twinks, assuming the invader is using a cracked red eye orb and some new character just trying it.
However - in the bottomless box situation everyone is a twink. Everyone. You ever play souls on 360? I did, for a brief time, and it was THAT time.
Everyone was a twink. In this, players were equal. Invaders were the ones that could suddenly have a lightning whatever unzipped on them.
You get it yet?
There's no bottomless box glitch. There are just twink invaders.
Now, is anyone going to defend twinking again? Is anyone going to say http://mmdks.com/7wk2 is fair to the host?
Is anyone going to say more outright wrong things like "giants makes you slow walk" like >>324004101 has been?
Thank you for giving up on your incorrect and foolish argument and just admitting defeat, so I don't have to laugh at your drivel.
>There's no bottomless box glitch. There are just twink invaders.
are you fucking stupid?
http://mmdks.com/7wk2 IS fair.
the host just has to LITERALLY git fucking GUD
"laugh at your drivel" make sure to tip your fedora while you're at it, you stupid shitter.
didnt say shit about giants slow walking, just that you were fucking stupid, which you are.
>Is anyone going to say http://mmdks.com/7wk2 is fair to the host?
Yes it is since the invader has to heavily compromise on their offense to be a turtle faggot and the host, especially if he has invaders, can just run to the boss and despawn you.
dude, lategame sl1 fuccbois can legit invade anywhere in ng+, twinking or no, it's just an oversight on the developers part that you're gonna have to get over.
I'd be more annoyed at people who straight up have infinite health trainers on for pvp
There's no bottomless box glitch right now. Unless you're unpatching your game, running through it, just to BB glitch.
Why would you do that when Mega Mule is a thing? When save editors are a thing? When Cheat Engine is a thing?
Now why did no one even bring up mega mule?
Hello >>324004101, your post style is obvious, as is your impotent asshurt.
The host cannot conceivably do anything to that invader, besides kick him off a cliff.
It's alright though. Tell me how the big bad host and his +2 scimitar hurt you, dear, he can't scratch at you ineffectually now.
No anon. http://mmdks.com/7wk2 is a twink. Lightning weapon users in the parish are a twink.
Try to read, alright?
What compromises are being made by that build in terms of offense? It's SL1, did you want it to use a demon spear?
Black Knight Halberd
>Dark Souls 2
Giant Stone Axe
STR is life.
>someone actually believes this stuff
"an invader using a build I dont like is a twink"
I played on PS3 primarily, sometimes on 360 since I had the chance, and while /dsg/ fight clubs were a thing, PC.
Left when megamule did the same thing BB glitch did, but worse.
Is this all you've got now? Whining about cheat engine, about PCfags, still going on about your MMO terms that were no doubt started on PC?
I guess the original meaning of twinking didn't mean all that much to you in the first place.
Is BB glitch okay? Is Mega Mule okay? Is save editing okay?
Is cheat engine any different?
What are you gonna do, fire 16 int soul arrows at his 252 magic defense?
How are you going to bleed him without getting black flamed or just out traded with the hand axe?
Mind you the giant set in addition to its great defense also has good bleed defense.
Im calling you out right now.
Ive been silently watching this whole convo play out, but I didn't realize it was bait until I saw the undertale meme.
are you legitimately autistic?
You get an idea in your head, a false idea, cemented from people spouting buzzwords a long ass time ago, and you dont seem to want to give up on that idea.
Also, CE and Save editing is just purely cheating.
Twinking refers to utilizing a glitch in the context of getting equips, and is illegitimate.
Low lvl invasions=got gud.
I've only played DaS, but I loved being a huge asshole and abusing bleed weapons.
My favorite setup was the Lifehunt Scythe and Bloodshield with Chaos Blade offhand.
I even sometimes added to the dickishness by throwing pyromancy into the mix.
Though honestly, I was pretty bad at the game, and especially bad at dueling. But dammit, I did have a lot of fun with my shitty setup. So I really can't complain.
don't forget the motherfucking DRAGON BONE SMASHER HOLY SHIT
Everything I have been saying has been what I believe and would argue for.
People calling twinking fair, people downplaying twinking as "low SL combat", cannot be allowed.
It is an act as reprehensible as the name.
I hoped they would understand this.
What's another drake sword gonna do?
No, the way to actually deal with twinks is to rush the gravelord sword or something, to twink yourself.
This is why we got the bell system in Bloodborne, this is why the chalices are so painful, this is why we're only going to be able to invade hosts with a 40% health buff and phantoms summoned in Dark Souls 3.
Twinks caused this.
Aren't you the same?
You don't want to let go of your meaning.
Listen, if you don't deal with the shit that happens in online play. Don't play online. '''''''''''twinks''''''''''''' only appeared in beginning areas of the game. There's absolutely no reason to be human in those areas. If it's help you need from the boss than 3 people with a +4 weapon can easily fuck up an invader. If you don't want to deal with that shit just go offline and use npc summons, or shut the fuck up and deal with the consequences of being human and online.
Whining about twinks is exactly what keeps killing the invasion system every game and it's responsible for the travesty that was soul memory.
no one is downplaying "low SL combat"
its just you are actively misusing the term twink.
Grabbing shit at low SL is pushing the advantage in your situation, but it requires SKILL and people Deserve to be Rewarded for being skilled.
also, it doesnt matter what lvl you are anyway, since equipment level matters more than character lvl 99% of the time.
You are making a big deal out of literally nothing.
and whats worse, you are deluding yourself into thinking Low SL Invading, as a term, is "downplaying" all low level people invading.
No, people UNDERSTAND its unfair, thats the whole POINT of low SL invasions.
Is everyone that uses agape ring in DAS2 a "twink" then?
Soul memory was caused by people whining about low SL invasions, most of the time people just die because they are literally new to the game then get fucked because they dont know how the mechanics work, dont know how to parry, dont know how to BS or avoid BS.
