Dawn of War 2 isn't bad, but it wasn't something I wanted after the first game. I liked the campaigns, even though Retribution isn't that interesting after playing it a couple times with different factions.

If Dawn of War 3 is announced this year I'm expecting it to be a mix of DoW1 and 2, hopefully with more units and bigger battles.

DoW2 is the most fun I ever had with an RTS in online, especially ranking with bros, 3v3 was dumb fun, 2v2 was serious tactical shit, the less players the more tactical it was, 1v1 was a bit too stressful for me but 2v2 was the sweet spot.

I think that most people that didn't like DoW2 were the kind of guys that like to build bases and huge armies before setting off to battle, wich is actually the reason why I liked it the most.

Only thing I hated about the game were the buggy engine, shitty unit pathing and "sync kills" messing up my shit.

I whish this game still had an active player base, I miss those times.

I think it's because you couldn't keep your bases between fights, so the enemy would counter-attack you with a massive force and would steamroll right over you, because even if you bought all the available options, you still couldn't compete with the AI having their full roster of elite units plus two bases to work from.

When the AI got strong enough, there ceased to be any point to attack them where their commander was since you were always guaranteed to lose. You had to go for their stronghold, and wherever the commander last was become lost to you because the commander and his elite cadre don't go away when a faction gets destroyed.

Also, your HQ didn't have any advantages and for several factions was actually harder to defend than the attacker's position because the defender's position was more open to accommodate the CPU's base.

Because the game is broken and if you play multiplayer, you and your friends had better be shit so you don't realize why it's broken or you have better be prepared to run through a stale meta that favors play with a pretty minimal number of units.

Take Dark Eldar, for example. Your only option at all was to build jet bikes in the early game and then scourges later to deal with vehicles. Even when invisible, mandrakes are slow and easily kited. The basic Dark Eldar infantry squads are too squishy, paying in health for having high ranged and melee damage when all they needed was reasonable ranged damage. So you exploited the broken fact that you got jet bikes before the enemy got anti-vehicle weapons.

Multiplayer is not better than single player. You play DoW because it's silly.

In theory? Chaos has a pretty damn similar tech tree and are one of the easiest factions to get into because of no unique attributes to them besides some of your leaders turning into demons.

In execution however Chaos is a trash faction in DC, not to start any of that 1d4chan SS vs DC shit but the Eldar are by far the easiest vanilla faction to win with once you get past their weird tech paths

That's an Ethereal, they lead the Tau but unless the lore has changed in the last few years they aren't technically part of the Tau race. It's suggested that Ethereals just sort of showed up one day and started organizing the Tau to develop tech at and advance their empire at the startling rate they have IIRC. Also, each of the different Tau castes might as well be different species with how much they vary physiologically. I'm sure one of them cranks out something boner-worthy.

It's decent, though I've only played against AI.
FFA is mostly garbage, because it's usually just turtling until you think you have a chance, and while you're killing one AI, another AI comes rolling in (most likely Eldar because they were the AI that killed all the other AIs, took their resources, and got an Avatar so now they're overpopulated as fuck) and rapes your base.
I would always play as IG for fun time with arty and conscripts, but they changed the model to the shitty DoW vanilla model with less animations, no army colors, and I'm still butthurt and I'm going to keep on complaining.

But that's wrong. Fluff wise las guns are comparable in power to 50.bmg able to blow limbs of and put huge craters in concrete. Only is it stat wise that auto guns are comprable.

Massed las gun fire will take down marines though, or if one is extremely good can take down a marine on a full charge shot if it hits I between the neck seal. All fluff about space marines shows how fucking terrifying they are.
