>Knowledge is power...I did well
Dawn of war thread
No it's going to die like your false emprah faggot
but DoW 2 being for the CoH crowd would have been much better
>no control point sectors
>shitty videogamey maps(on release)
>worse attention to graphical detail
>many of the realistic tactical abilities replaced with wc3-tier magical spells
>removed the looting mechanic despite there being a unit LITERALLY FUCKING CALLED "LOOTAZ"
that's not the point
>LITERALLY FUCKING CALLED "LOOTAZ"
this is the point. this shit hasn't and shouldn't have any impact so I don't know why you even added this, because it makes you sound like a fucking retard
>game is called dark crusade
>doesn't have a crusade of niggers
>the setting of a video game should have no impact on the mechanics
lets remove all the melee weapons from dawn of war as well who needs em right
long live casualization
An open mind is like a fortress with it's gate unbarred and unguarded.
I love the first DoW.
Death to traitors btw.
Explain in 10 words or more what Boreale did wrong
Dawn of War 2 isn't bad, but it wasn't something I wanted after the first game. I liked the campaigns, even though Retribution isn't that interesting after playing it a couple times with different factions.
If Dawn of War 3 is announced this year I'm expecting it to be a mix of DoW1 and 2, hopefully with more units and bigger battles.
Explain in 10 words or more what Leandros did wrong
ALL GUARDSMEN, FOLLOW ME TO GLORY!
For a long time, I thought he said "Fire me to glory."
DoW2 with bigger battles and more expendable units would be nice.
Global upgrades rather than squad based, so you don't get fucked over for losing one squad of marines.
I dunno, like you said, a mix of old and new might work.
Name a shittier voice actor in the entire franchise
>I've played the first DoW so much that I can't enjoy it anymore
Why is the pathfinding so shit?
What was the point of the cover system?
Why does every match feel the same?
Why is the combat so uninvolved?
I just wish I could go back to loving it.
Contacted the inquistion instead of the ultramarine librarium.
For somebody so insistent on adhering to the codex Astartes, it sure is odd he decided to go against protocol in that specific sitiatuion.
>Love me Orks
>Can't remember but get to the bare it to reach top tier
>Get free boyz option
>Have 6 barracks on constant spam with with one half squad of nobs with power claws and Tek boy attached so I have quick elite fuck you squad
>rig mines everywhere and keep Squig at allies base to defend it cause he was Tau
>While green waves kept marines busy I build more barracks along the corner listening post.
>I use the tau bone singer teleport trick but with elites, fuck up his generators then teleport away.
>smashes me at his door step with rockets
>gets one terminator squad into my base for counter attack with Commander but gets knocked on his ass.
>Allie Tau shoots the shit out of him
>Sprig moves up the map to be a pain in the ass
>My tanks roll in after a few rocket torrets get blown up and assult the vehicle bay of the marines.
Had some great matches, pity I lost that one.
>LET ME PREACH HIS NAME!
Best unit ever.
Sure, but they still can't loot anything, it's just another heavy weapons squad but reskinned
would be much cooler if each dead enemy squad dropped a weapon and they just glued it to their own so if you kept one loota squad alive it would shoot a shitstorm of bullets, plasma, las, venom and shurikens
also if they could loot tanks
Latest canon states Weirdboyz are just regular Warp-bound psykers. Their issue is that Orks weren't engineered to know how to use Warp psychics, so they often explode when it goes out of their control.
Whats so bad about the voice acting in Soulstorm? Does it sound too goofy or something?
Also isnt Soulstorm the only alive one? Even in SS its not easy to get into matches. What are the reasons to play dark crusade or the oriinal one?
>Knowledge is power... And I, know a lot.
why do people hate Soulstorm?
Plaything through it now for the first time and it's not quite up to snuff with DoW and DC in some regards but it's not horrible
>I did well
Guard it well.

Guardsmen, you appear to be suicidal let me help you
>6 XCOM operatives (Col.) with plasma weaponry and titan armor
>one tactical marine squad (3 marines + 1 sergeant) with bolters and standard kit
>why is dawn of war 2 so bad
DoW2 is the most fun I ever had with an RTS in online, especially ranking with bros, 3v3 was dumb fun, 2v2 was serious tactical shit, the less players the more tactical it was, 1v1 was a bit too stressful for me but 2v2 was the sweet spot.
I think that most people that didn't like DoW2 were the kind of guys that like to build bases and huge armies before setting off to battle, wich is actually the reason why I liked it the most.
Only thing I hated about the game were the buggy engine, shitty unit pathing and "sync kills" messing up my shit.
I whish this game still had an active player base, I miss those times.
All I want to do is spread my seed across the fair maidens of the stars. Is that too much to ask?
If one assumes Plasma weaponry developed by XCOM is on par with atleast Tau standards, and that Titan armor is atleast on par with ceramite, 6 Operatives would be able to atleast kill 2 marines, superior numbers, flanking positions and psychic abilities would confer them a hell of a advantage.
A hoax a few years ago, someone claimed that the Hubble telescope saw "a series of large structures", like really fucking huge ones, lingering outside our solar system. This was a comparison someone made.
To consort with xenos is to commit heretical acts. To make love with them is to commit extra heretical ones
To commit heretical acts is to be a heretic, and to be a heretic is to be deserving of being purged.
Bolters aren't terribly accurate either. I can't remember the rules for the crunch, but if you count SM as fluff, the cone of fire is hideous. Dawn of War 2 had bolters at a flat 18% hit chance before factoring in cover.
Damn, thought that was some recent discovery? Or am I thinking of something else? I wish we would find some clues soon on whether we are alone in this galaxy or not
Fluff-wise IG lasgun is close in power to an auto-gun (but is lighter, more reliable and ammo is easier to find), auto-guns are pretty much modern ARs. Game mechnaics-wise, SMs are not invulnerable to lasguns. So, not that far, actually.
never played DOW 2 but I played Retribution, treated it as Diablo clone with more units and had fun in fact more than in original DOW's because I always sucked at strategy games and now I'm even worse at them because I have no patience for base building or learning the cheesiest tactics anymore
The only heresy here is to fight for a corrupt government that even your precious "Emperor" would find appalling.
I just want to fight for the Greater Good, anons. What's wrong with being a Gue'vesa?
I'm going to need a source on that.
Yes, because that's heresy, Guardsman.
Also, there's better ayylium girls out there
I think it's because you couldn't keep your bases between fights, so the enemy would counter-attack you with a massive force and would steamroll right over you, because even if you bought all the available options, you still couldn't compete with the AI having their full roster of elite units plus two bases to work from.
When the AI got strong enough, there ceased to be any point to attack them where their commander was since you were always guaranteed to lose. You had to go for their stronghold, and wherever the commander last was become lost to you because the commander and his elite cadre don't go away when a faction gets destroyed.
Also, your HQ didn't have any advantages and for several factions was actually harder to defend than the attacker's position because the defender's position was more open to accommodate the CPU's base.
I don't discriminate between ayyliums. As long as I can have a half-human or a non-human child with them.
The aliens in xcom wouldnt stand a fucking chance.
6th edition, possibly for longuer.
See the small Felinids paragraph.
FURRY WARNING: https://1d4chan.org/wiki/Felinid
Because the game is broken and if you play multiplayer, you and your friends had better be shit so you don't realize why it's broken or you have better be prepared to run through a stale meta that favors play with a pretty minimal number of units.
Take Dark Eldar, for example. Your only option at all was to build jet bikes in the early game and then scourges later to deal with vehicles. Even when invisible, mandrakes are slow and easily kited. The basic Dark Eldar infantry squads are too squishy, paying in health for having high ranged and melee damage when all they needed was reasonable ranged damage. So you exploited the broken fact that you got jet bikes before the enemy got anti-vehicle weapons.
Multiplayer is not better than single player. You play DoW because it's silly.
>It is better to die for the empereor than live for yourself.
Whenever I heard this quote I tohught of a fatigued IGman, and on the other contrast a fat balding neckbeard in a singlet eating chips, playing wow.

It's that time again.

Only between SoBs and Eldar Banshee's
Ork campaign in Retribution is a game seller of its own.
No, I think the mod is legitimately shit.
Bloated to hell, ridiculously unbalanced, bloated, unpolished (whoever did the sound editing should be killed) and fuck does it tank your framerate. Did I mention it was bloated?
Sure there's a lot of content, but once that novelty wears off you realize it's not that good of an experience.
>tfw i like soulstorm for hot sob purging
a 40k RTS with proper scale, upped unit caps, a mountain of extra content... I really can't give a shit about balance. There's a dozen races you can play as anyway.
The voicework is admittedly kind of shit. I give it a pass.
If you recommend any mods yourself, they had better not be FoK. I'd rather play FUN mods than a tabletop bastardization.
Like I said, once the novelty of the large scale and a billion (useless or completely broken) units wears off, it's not a good mod.
I guess it's good if you just want to build 200 of one unit and a-move it across the map.
Any inquiries for more shall be declared a heresy.
Have some official art. Tau women are just as ugly as their men.
that's why the eldar are superior.
>lithe banshee ass
I find it weird that there are two different depictions of Tau females, one with Commander Shadowsun and the other with the dissection.
Is there some lack of communication on this or was it from two different publishers?
fucking naysayers. have a plague waifu instead. no worries about stds, she got all of em.
I would assume lack of communication. Xenology also isn't necessarily a trusted source for anything as it's written "in universe" by someone going insane and under the influence of malign entities.
>Might be a dude under the armour
It doesn't matter, were too deep into this to quit now.
>We've been blessed by the power of the Land Raider, there's no butter on my scones! I'm off the play the grand piano!

No thanks, Callidus assasins, SoB, and female Imperial guard will be fine for me
Callidus best girl by the way. Also, reported to the inquisition for heresy. Prepared to get purged
hold up. two can play at this game.
Look at those loyal gaurdsmen, seeing that the eldar is clearly no longer a threat, decided to return he breat plate to her and unload from their veichle so she has a place to change in private.
That one soldier is even taking off his belt so that she has something to secure her top with.
Truly mankind is the best race, as no other race would show such courtesy to a bested foe.

who pissed on your purity seal? it's not gay as long as you do the fucking.
In theory? Chaos has a pretty damn similar tech tree and are one of the easiest factions to get into because of no unique attributes to them besides some of your leaders turning into demons.
In execution however Chaos is a trash faction in DC, not to start any of that 1d4chan SS vs DC shit but the Eldar are by far the easiest vanilla faction to win with once you get past their weird tech paths
That would be wonderful. The emperor using her "love" for kitten to lure her to terra, where Kor'sarro Khan can suprise her and kill her, taking vengance for her role in the war in the Damocles gulf. excelent idea, if it were any more clever you'd have to be blammed for serving Tzeentch
>Buy the physical games a couple of years ago
>Have a lot of fun
>After that, start playing with some guys on /v/
>Have even more fun

>Some years later, see a thread again
>Decide to install the game once more
>However, they tell me that I need to get the game on steam, since the servers died and it's impossible to play it online with a CD
This is bullshit, I don't want to get the steam versions, I don't like that platform.
That's an Ethereal, they lead the Tau but unless the lore has changed in the last few years they aren't technically part of the Tau race. It's suggested that Ethereals just sort of showed up one day and started organizing the Tau to develop tech at and advance their empire at the startling rate they have IIRC. Also, each of the different Tau castes might as well be different species with how much they vary physiologically. I'm sure one of them cranks out something boner-worthy.
SH 2013 is literally the board game.
Ascension was a single player oriented SH.
As for Deathwings.... well, an anon did some research as for why we had no news since a fucking while and wrote an article on this: http://sidearc.com/death-of-deathwing/
>I'm sure one of them cranks out something boner-worthy.
This is what their diplomat corp looks like. The whole race is a bunch of flat faced ugmos. They only look appealing when a fan artist makes them look more humanoid and fuckable.
He's still right though.
You see my pic, its the header for the 40k General over on /tg/. The tau's face was replaced from the fan-drawn one to the one it is now, which is an official GW depiction of a female tau's face.
If you think that face is attractive, you need your eyes or your taste checked.
Lure shadowsun in to "suprise kitten" and then have the white scars master of the hunt kill her for her role in the war in the Damocles gulf.
Don't understand what you're confused about.
man that's depressing. shit be deader than horus.
She's been more than a background charecter since the damoncles campiagn, and in the new tau supplements she did a whole lot of ridiculous shit, including killing the RG chapter master and cutting off the Khan's legs.
Needless to say, her very existence pisses off both the imperium and those who play imperium armies, myself included, and any one who hates tau. Which is to say, everyone who doesn't play tau hates her.
>get the commisar recon
>literally double the firepower and never losing morale
>DC and SS are practically the same goddam game
>this shit gets posted every thread
It's decent, though I've only played against AI.
FFA is mostly garbage, because it's usually just turtling until you think you have a chance, and while you're killing one AI, another AI comes rolling in (most likely Eldar because they were the AI that killed all the other AIs, took their resources, and got an Avatar so now they're overpopulated as fuck) and rapes your base.
I would always play as IG for fun time with arty and conscripts, but they changed the model to the shitty DoW vanilla model with less animations, no army colors, and I'm still butthurt and I'm going to keep on complaining.
They introduced shit like "oh you can only have two leman russes despite having far more vehicle population to go", I assume for balances sake but it's a really fucking trash way to go about it.
But that's wrong. Fluff wise las guns are comparable in power to 50.bmg able to blow limbs of and put huge craters in concrete. Only is it stat wise that auto guns are comprable.
Massed las gun fire will take down marines though, or if one is extremely good can take down a marine on a full charge shot if it hits I between the neck seal. All fluff about space marines shows how fucking terrifying they are.
>Implying it was ever yours in the first place
No, YOU get off my world.
>I whish this game still had an active player base, I miss those times.
>Install Elite mod.
>Check Steamcharts when most people are on.
It's not that hard.
There's a system for people like you to get Steam keys without paying for the games a second time. You'll still have to use steam, though
How are you planning to keep them off i,t stormlord, when your dynasty banned Trayzn from steeping foot on any planet it holds, and he procedes to walk into the fucking capital when ever he damn well feels like it?
>Implying you're not just some grot that passes along the boss's orders
There's no equivalence between what's used in our era and 40k. Even the solid slug weapons they use aren't necessarily comparable to anything modern armies use. The early designers purposely stayed away from making tech comparisons. You can look at the forge world books that show a land raider is made of paper and you know why they steered clear of real numbers, it would likely just end up making everything look silly.
And here we have what happens when people ignore the old design notes and put down real numbers without understanding them.
Both of you shut the fuck up and praise the emperor.
Imperial Guard to the Tau scum!
O tau, xeno devils and damned Tyranids' kith and kin, secretaries to the Deceiver himself. What the fuck kind of warriors are you, that can't assimilate a hedgehog with your naked arses? Nurgle excretes, and your army eats. You will not, you sons of bitches, make subjects of the Emperor's sons; we've no fear of your army, by land and by space we will battle with ye, fuck your mothers.
You Khorne's buttrests, Nurgle's dickwipes, Tzeench's beak-cleaners, Slaanesh's plugtoys, grox-fuckers of Kommorragh, squigherds of Charadon, toilets of Ukltwe, Necromundian thieves, catamites of the Eye of Terror, and fools of all the Materium and Immaterium, idiots before the God-Emperor, grandchildren of the Necrons, and the crick in our dick. Grox's snout, ogryns's arse, slaughterhouse curs, heretic brows, screw your own mothers!
So the Imperials declare, you lowlifes. You won't even be herding groxes for the Empire. Now we'll conclude, for we need to start purging you xenos scum; the year is s of your defeat, the day's of your deaths; for this kiss our arse!
- Lord General Militant Solomon Tetrarchus, with the whole Imperial Guard.
You should read glimmer rats then, no really you should it's great it's pretty much 40k but man the artstyle gets messy.
Gahhhh I wish they would turn this into a movie.
I fucking love Glimmer rats
You know what we need?
A game were you play as assasins from the 4 temples. Not sure how you would do it off the top of my head, but playing as expert assasins, hot, shapeshifting girls in skintight bodysuits, soulless abominations that turn there enemies very connection to the realm of souls against them, and crazy motherfuckers who are experts in driving and melee would be fun as fuck.
Eversor assassins are fucking baller
Make it diablo clone and have the four temples four different classes. Eversor as a close combat, Vindicare as a ranged character, Callidus as stealth or enemy control, and Culexus as a damage over time specialist.
Having fired howitzers and been very close to TNT detonations i can say that hearing protection is very necessary. Especially if you're firing something that huge.
The Germans build fuckhuge cannons that killed their own officers because they were near it when fired.
>Playing Soulstorm multplayer

>Second squad of seraphims are now out, Regroup and go back in.
>He tries to build a turret but im quick on the ball and destroy it
>All right enough req for the Cannoness, get her out on the field
>"CUM MY SISTERS"
>Get a boner
>In the confusion i lose both of my Seraphim squads
>He counter attacks
>Try to rush out some battle sisters but my erection is painfully large at this point
>Accidentally click on the wrong thing
>End up losing the game
It's not Dawn of War, but still 40k, has anyone formed any opinion on Eternal Crusade (the FPS)? It's going into Steam Early Access soon (its ending founder's packs on the 25th), but from what I've seen the game isn't near close for early access.
>why do people hate dark crusade so much?
The campaign was nothing more than a few skirmish maps lazily stitched together.
Online multiplayer didnt work 9 times out of 10 with people getting disconnected for no reason.
The game was notoriously glitchy.
It had the worst balance out of all the DoW games.
Added boring two races when people had been begging for the Tyranid.
It was supposed to be Planetside, but with Space Marine, CSM, Orks, and Eldar all fighting each other, with Tyranids as a 5th NPC race that does shit and acts as PvE content.
Right now it's just SM vs CSM death match, with Eldar soon supposedly, and the "open world" parts are pushed back until they get other shit ready. But it feels really dumb that they're pushing for early access this soon.
Did anyone find the Chaos Rising campaign a bit too short?
I loved it and the banter between characters was great but it felt pretty short compared to the vanilla campaign
Also fuck Ulkair. Took me like an hour to down that fat fuck
not really Dawn of War but warham related, I tried out /tg/'s Chapter Master vidya the other day, its pretty neat.
I really wish GW would put out a game like it where you can costumize your army to a great degree and run around a sector fightan battles. Though an actual RTS aspect to it would probbably be better than the automated battles of Chapter Master.
Soulstorm was good in every other point (though still no tyranid) Soulstorm also implemented it slightly better with various options on the overmap and having less filler skirmish battles.
Having a good multiplayer doesn't excuse bad singleplayer. So it doesn't make sense to use that as a bulletpoint as to why its better than DC when they're both equal in that regard.
Blood Ravens, hear me! I am Araghast The Pillager! Master of Hounds, the Lash of the Black Legion! You, and ALL your kind are COWARDS! LOWLY LICKSPITTLES! You must be emulating that pathetic pile of bones you call your Emperor! You are as dead and as useless as him! I am destroying your worlds, Blood Ravens, yet you do nothing! I see your precious craft, hanging in orbit above Aurelia! I AM HERE! FACE ME, IF YOU DARE!!!
Some Orks do worship the Emperor as mercenaries to humans.
Very few people give a shit about singleplayer in RTS games.
Meat of an RTS is always and always will be player vs player.
When your multiplayer is a broken unplayable mess and THEN you also have no decent single player you are going to have a problem.
Old Khorne was all about honorable kills from strong enemies and would send his hounds after those who went after weaker ones.
Now it's any kill is fine as long as it builds upon the throne of skulls so you can become a champion of Khorne built on a throne of orphan skulls.
>Very few people give a shit about singleplayer in RTS games.
I'd like to see the statistics on this. We have games like Total War which are nearly completely focused on the singleplayer / co-op aspect, despite coming with a fully functional multiplayer and they're incredibly popular regardless.
I also don't think "barely anyone cares so you shouldn't either" is a valid argument (especially when not backed up by any facts) to excuse a weak singleplayer. People are doing the same thing with the new Battlefront game and it just goes to show they either don't care enough to have an actual argument or they're just too lazy to write it out.
Do you want to experience the tabletop game without having to shell out a king's ransom for tiny plastic models and spend days painting them each by hand? Yes?
Then download Tabletop Simulator and a fanmade 40k module. Firestorm over Kronus/Karauva is novelty, nothing more.
if your game is multiplayer-only then it's very susceptible to being dead on arrival. if I'm not sure whether a game is going to be popular or not, and it's multiplayer-only, I'm probably just going to not play it, and end up contributing to it being dead on arrival.
Have you designed your original chapter (do not steal) yet /v/?
>What was the point of the cover system?
Protects you against explosions, vehicle weapons, and light weapons (like lasguns) but is totally invalidated by melee units having jetpacks.
>Why does every match feel the same?
Because the threshold for Tier's is so high that you have you figure out how to win the stage at Tier 1.
>Why is the combat so uninvolved?
Units are squad based, so it take a lot of effort to flank and preform other maneuvers.
The best way to get involved is to change the way your build squads.
For example: A good IG strategy is to send 2 commissars into the fray in Melee mode while your guardsmen whittle them.
Melee, Explosives, and choosing the right damage type are the most important parts of Dawn of War
you've never heard of total war? they've made like 20 of them
that's a retarded thing to say. the most not-played games are probably multiplayer only as well. think about all those 'maybe it'll le save le RTS!' games that came out that we all sort of liked the look of but didn't play.
He's been a blood thirsty God since 1988 at least.
Knights of Knowledge:
Space Marines who discovered an ancient library buried in the grasslands of a Dantooine-like Agri-world. The marines turned it into a fortress monastery and began translating lost languages from the Golden Age of technology.
Techpriests have been contracted to scan fragile books that are too ancient to turn the pages of, lest they turn to dust.
The Knights have discovered Eldar infiltrators and Cultists spying on them multiple times, but have proven that they will take any measures possible to protect their secrets.
Additionally, the Inquisition has taken interest in the library after a recent Tithe collection.
The only thing Tau worth fucking are their suits.
Lion Warriors (are an official chapter name, no lore though)
Spacebound close combat specialists, think Space Wolves mixed in with some Dark Angels (of whom they're descended from; this is a rather ironic combination, given the two chapters' rivalry). I've based them with the Thracians, so they love nightfighting, short-ranged skirmishing, have sica, rhomphai, and falx instead of normal swords and axes, and prefer mobile parties of land speeders than static forces.
Placed in an interesting dynamic of being partly civilized, partly barbaric. As the Thracians had several Greek influences, they mainly worshiped Dionysus and Ares, so I've stylized their worship of the Emperor in battle and through drunken celebration. The Lion Warriors decorate their bodies with tattoos and wear elaborate bracelets of gold that detail their glories and victories. They call their terminators Bastarnae, because it sounds cool.
The red bit. It isn't a 'head' it's a sensorsuit. It is linked to the Tau inside it, so it moves like a normal head would. It's small on purpose to make it hard to hit.

Because GW killed them off after second edition to help distance the 40k and Fantasy settings. The in universe explanation was that their homeworld was in the path of a Tyranid fleet. 6th ed mentions them which is a heavy reversal from GW, considering they used to ban people on the official forums for even mentioning them.
