This is the first Monster Hunter game I am going to play. For once the graphics don't look like shit.
How dare you. Monster Hunter has evolved and changed in many ways. It looks great.
That cat is making me seriously consider not buying this though. I don't think I could handle the constant meowing along with that face. It was bad enough in 4U, but at least those felynes looked acceptable.
I just want my Shaka's back.
You're right. This is much better. Thanks for posting.
The game looks like shit, I'll just wait for DQXI to play a proper jrpg.
This is just trying to cash in on the Pokemon clone craze.
I do, however, hope to see an actual MonHun game in this graphical style if it's stuck on handhelds, just change the chibi, eggheaded models to a hunter's proportions
It's basically just killing shit, yeah.
You hunt monsters for parts to craft weapons and armour, with a little bit of gathering quests here and there. That's the basic premise, but there is more to it than that.
There is recent ones, so you don't have to play an older one. 3U is good and 4U is good as well, but it has bad locations.
But it's not. It's the best MH game out there.
Go back to the shithole general, F2P shill. Enjoy your limited hunts, sweatshop quality animations, and on-server latency for monsters. Even Frontier didn't pull the last bullshit mentioned
Ya know, I could live with that honestly. Still looks good just blurry.
Also, is this shit just going to be Pokemon but using MH monsters and your "trainer" also fights alongside the monsters?
If so, then I want this so much.
Yes but that's because they jewed out and use P2P connections. In MHFO the only thing that's tied to are traps and flashes. They are using servers, there is no fucking reason why the monsters aren't preloaded. Oh wait, it's Tencent, which is a monopoly that puts Google to shame.
I think he means while it is still 240p, its not stretched to the size of his computer monitor meaning its probably not as easy to notice how blurry shit is.
I guess? I don't know. I'm fine with how things look even in 240p. Fun is fun, even if its blurry.
but you clearly see the characters in monster armors like the base games.
Its like befriending a tiger than killing his family and making armor out of them so you can hunt elephants in tiger armor and call in your tiger bro for the assist when needed.
Nobody said anything about fun. /v/ always spout this buzzword "fun" in defense when they feel insecure. Also I'm sure he didn't mean that. You are really reaching there. Either that or you're the same guy and you're trying to move the goalpost.
Here is what I think, I view the game the same way I do to any spin-off. Imagine what the game would look like without being tied to the brand or using assets from another game.
After thinking that the game just looks uninteresting, so I'll pass.
It honestly looks like they are using a different version of the game and downscaling it.
It has a bunch of 720p images, meaning it will likely be ported to the Wii U or they are just distributing a lot of bullshots.
Theres nothing for me to feel insecure about, all 3ds have 240p not just mine so I dont need to worry there and I'm just mentioning "fun" since that guy(you?) is seemingly being a stick in the mud about the resolution.
Fun isn't a buzzword, Fun is the goal all video games should strive for honestly, its not a buzzword like "cinematic experience" or "Synergy".
I'd move the goalpost but its too cold outside right honestly
>Turn based RPG
And to think it seemed interesting with the monster taming but nope.
and I was just trying to explain what he could've meant by his gibberish statement but yeah you're right this arguement(barely) isn't interesting enough to keep going anymore.
Have a nice day though
I know you jus tryin to troll nigga but jokes on you! This just made me interested in the game.
also can't wait for the porn
>Pokemon invented monster catching rpgs
>Liking action rpgs
Do you like oppai loli too?
To the same extent "Monster Hunter Clone" is used on everything, despite PSO being before it. Same concept I guess, its a shitty Pokemon clone. Spawned under the same premise of Yokai Watch, Fossil Fighters, Moco Moco Friends, Denpa Men, and Dragon Quest.
The 3DS has had a focal point of targeting the younger kids with games for a while now because that's what the Mom's look for.
I've been here for a while. Name a single good turn based RPG Capcom has made in the last 10 years?
In fact, Capcom is only known for their action. They don't even have good writers.
Oh you mean that shitty mobile game that isn't even out yet? I said the last 10 years. That and that's such a minuscule example, the series is not well renowned in the RPG world at all.
>"I-If you aren't hype then you're neo-/v/!"
I don't go to Monster Hunter for turn-based RPGs. I have SMT, SRT, Stella Glow, FE, FF, DQ, Persona, The Last Remnant, Neptunia, etc.
The trailer looked like it was a spin-off with a unique gimmick but instead of being a unique spin on MH's formula but it's just a turn-based RPG which wouldn't nearly be as interesting.
Like shit it doesn't even look INTERESTING as a turn based RPG, it's like >>323904539 said, it's basically Capcom's answer to Yokai Watch which is Level 5's answer to Pokemon.
It looks like a bland cash in attempt and when it bombs because even kids will prefer the actual Monster Hunter series to this I won't exactly be shocked.
I feel part of the reason it looks good is due to its use of the FF picross mobile game designs for the characters, thanks in part to the graphics themselves it gives every model a nice toylike appearance
Yes, Fire Emblem is turn based, what the fuck made you think otherwise?
Better than this game desu senpai :^)
Vita makes sense. I think the PS4 version has some sort of weird bloom and post processing.
They did the same thing with Type-0 to hide the portable visuals. Japanese developers are somewhat bad at next gen filters.
The PSP kingdom hearts looked like the PS2 ones.
Monster Hunter isn't a game that you buy for graphics, it was never about how pretty it is. Plus the graphics weren't even that bad on the 3DS.
It's all about the gameplay anon, that's why I have 500 hours logged in
Frontier grind is weird.
On a completely standard level (using no in-game items or the events that swing by here and there), the slowest thing you gain is your HR.
The actual item grind to craft or upgrade each single level of weapons or armor is surprisingly light.
However, especially with the armor, there are a lot of levels.
On the other hand, if you take advantage of the free events and bonuses that you can get without paying a cent, you can skyrocket up the ranks like no one's business.
Like hell, in that case I'd say mainline has more grind.
Considering the Monster Hunter team and Nintendo has been bros for a while I can see us getting the 3DS version. Hell I don't see them moving to Sony any time soon considering Nintendo has been 100% willing to help them with everything. Maybe even pay Capcom to do a Wii U port but I would have thought Nintendo would have done that with 4U which they didn't.
You don't understand what I'm meaning. Franchises that basically have no set protagonist do not do well with trying to add a plot. What Untold did was try to rewright a minimalistic story with a garbage story by adding characters. If you want another example look at Metroid Prime vs Other M and Fusion.
For a moment I thought this was a new Breath of Fire...
And you thought waifu's weren't real.
Looks cute in motion too.
There's a webm floating around of the down syndrome cat running into normal felynes and all of them staring.
So if it makes you feel better he is a real genetic mistake, even in-universe.
Reminder that Monster Hunter used to have cutting edge graphics on PS2.
Shame they are never gonna do a amazing looking game on current gen consoles since portable is where its at in Japan.
first Untold? fine that game's story and characters were mediocre mary sues and shouldn't exist. Not to mention Grimoires broke the game.
Untold 2? Ehhhh I'm more forgiving since they did take measures to improve what was considered the weakest game of the main series. Too bad the boss balance revolved around the Fafnir class so in classic you have to jump hoops and exploits just to survive. Still fun though I like the new add ons.
They have plenty of console games that looked good. Street Fighter, RE, Lost Planet, Dead Rising (well it was impressive with the amount of zombies, if not model quality), and others.
Hell, MH3U on Wiiu looked pretty damn good. It had framerate issues, but it still looked good.
They could do it if they wanted to. THey just don't want to with MH since thats one of their top sellers. And as the old saying goes, don't fix what ain't broke.
I remember. That's a stinger at the end of one of the trailers. Still don't want it anywhere near me though.
>For once the graphics don't look like shit.
>"Neo-/v/! Neo-/v/! Neo-/veeeeeee/!"
Spouting buzzwords doesn't make you right, autismo. You are trying to claim Turn-Based means JRPG but that's effectively ignoring every other RPG where you take turns in combat.
You and the enemy take turns hitting each other, you are not constantly moving at the same time, it is turn based you dipshit.
Seem like it's a monster catching JRPG. Seem like they are cropping up even more than normal. Guessing Yokai Watch really made people want to dive into that pool again. We have World of Final Fantasy, this, and Joker 3 all coming out this year.
Then please explain how SRPGs are somehow not turn based? Because from playing them I noticed that I can take my time when attacking enemies almost as though it's my turn to move and attack and that when they attack I cannot simply defend myself or retreat as though it is not my turn. So it's almost as if these SRPG things are in fact RPGs that are turn based
>mfw playing MHX translated right now
>mfw get ALL the content
>mfw don't have to wait years for a localization
>I wish cats were a lot more viable to have in a serious party though.
You do know a properly set up boomerang cat is the best tail cutter bar none, right? Not to mention you get very comparable hunt times to a well equipped hunter.
You still haven't explained why I'm wrong. I get that turn-based is usually used to describe that kind of shit but I use it to refer to anything that relies on turns, I see SRPGs as a break off from a major core.
On top of that, how exactly would you classify things like Devil Survivor seeing as it uses SRPG based movement and standard SMT combat
Hmm, I'll have to try them out more, I guess Ive only been seeing shitters use them
I fear the urge to cat pun though will overtake me, though and the results will be catastrophic.
>SRPGs aren't turn based
I don't think I've ever heard anything more retarded in my life
The main bad guy is going to be a human hunter trying to kill your friends isn't it? No even if it ends up being an elder dragon final boss if the main antagonist is some "bad" human hunting to survive I'll be fucking done.
There's a couple of guides on /vg/ I believe on how to set everything up properly. You need a weapon that favors boomerang over melee, has cutting as its damage type, and certain abilities.
>Main antagonist is adult hunter trying to kill all the shit you're raising
>Foil him again and again by showing that monsters and humans can work together
>Get to the end
>He was to kill an elder
>You go up, all confident in your shit, to tame the elder
>Elder proceeds to slap your shit
>Human hunter walks up
>And does his job
I could dig it.
are those abilities just random or do you get to somewhat control your kitty in MHX?
No, turn based means the gameplay is based on taking turns
In MHX you can play as the cat. You get a completely new moveset depending on what skills you equip. You can also actually heal your teammates like the NPC cats do, except you can do it on command (same goes for buffs, bombs, and so on).
>Doesn't know about Nyanter mode
That sounds good.
I just really really fucking hope it isn't mandatory outside maybe a few single player missions.
I also wish they would stop tying so much progression to single player shit. I wanna hunt apex monsters, but one of my friends hates doing single player stuff and although we are at endgame G rank, he still hasn't unlocked his first wystone.
>I just really really fucking hope it isn't mandatory outside maybe a few single player missions.
That's exactly how it works. There's maybe a mission or two per rank that requires playing as the cat, but otherwise it's entirely optional. You can play through the entire game as a cat if you want, or you can ignore them entirely except for a mission or two.
>I also wish they would stop tying so much progression to single player shit.
That's still around in X, but the village only goes to 5 stars. It's rather quick to rush through, and then you can go do your standard guild hunting.
Is there still a Korean F2P MMO-tier grind in MHX or have they finally mitigated it for people who don't like doing the same thing for 3 hours every time they need new equipment or, god forbid, skill gems?
Well whenever MHXG inevitably comes out, presumably also the version we will get in the west, Im sure village quests will go up to high rank again.
Once again, I just hope they stop tying so much to single player in what is supposed to be primarily a multiplayer game.
Or at least have the ability to unlock everything in multiplayer thats unlockable in single player. Veteran players don't need to go through all the basic quests that teach you everything but also take like an hour or 2 to finish.
>terrible mocap acting
>First monster hunter I'm going to play
I hope you can read chink then, it's never getting localized.
>befriending and riding MH monsters and fighting other monsters with them
Holy fucking shit, it's sort of like befriending your rapist in some cases but you do get really attached to these monsters after you've fought them a bunch of times.
>but you do get really attached to these monsters after you've fought them a bunch of times.
The protagonists raise the monsters from eggs. In fact a major gameplay feature that mirrors the main series is that you have to steal eggs.
Gigginox best girl!
No, this is.
All MH games are fucking boring. I doubt this will be any different.
