It's grown on me but I dropped it 3 times already. The lack of generics and the amount it takes before you can do any sort of customization really ruins it as a srpg and made the early game very boring. All the girls play exactly the same but just a different element for the first 10 hours. I only just got the the point where I can start customizing and it's a lot more fun. It's just super mediocre until then, and there are lots of good/excellent srpg out there. The battles are pretty quick and there is a LOTS of strategy but you can also just grind your way though the game. It's also one of the few games that suffers from too much content. The story is serviceable but Idol shit is not for me, the characters and character interactions are 10/10 and the only reason I am still going.

The school setting in Cold Steel is more of a hub. You travel to different towns, learn about the characters and there's politics and stuff too. It has way more depth compared to games like M0 and Conception II. There are social links called bonding events though, if you like that stuff. It doesn't go full romance however.

Theyre decent enough if you're into weebshit. The games can actually get surprisingly difficult at times and require you to manage buffs debuffs healing turn order and so on. The game do very heavily recycle content though and that can be a big turn off for people

I recommend getting them on sale. Idea Factory tends to put them on PSN sales fairly often for around $10 - $15 or so

I gave Freedom Wars a go the other day. It's pretty good, but feels a bit silly that it wasn't dubbed and it probably isn't getting a sequel anyway. Is just a bit stupid that the lot and characters are exactly the same no matter what Panopticon you pick (I did Perth, for example), so hearing a bunch of random ethnicities all speaking Japanese in Perth is sightly amusing, as well as the fines and shit you get for stupid shit like running and sleeping.

Totori+ and Umihara Kawase, though I admittedly haven't played Totori in a few days because I got sucked into System Shock 2.
