Nigga, Hard West.
It's like XCOM in wild west setting.
Shit is fucking awesome.
>>
>>323791998
>>323792164
Okay, some of the lines as well as the performances are good. But seriously by the end it's a damn mess. There aren't action scenes as much as there are montages where people shoot guns and other people fall over. The shootout at the OK Corral is barely a Corral. It's just a dingy alleyway fight that's super choppily edited. I'd rather watch My Darling Clementine any day even if it's less historically accurate.
>>
>>323792960
no he's right I am a daisy.

You guys telling me you weren't cringing at every "romance" scene between Kurt Russell and the woman? It's almost Anakin-Padme tier. That script was 300-odd pages with backstories for everyone and you can tell cause that film's all over the place. I really want to like it, hell I even own it, but fuck does it annoy me in how it so constantly fails.
>>
>>323793000
Fun fact: the shootout at the OK Corral wasn't in the OK Corral
>>
>>323793180
Ok, but accuracy does not a good film make. There's still a more interesting way to stage a fight than just dude's blasting at other dudes just a couple meters from each other.
>>
>>323793108
point, that movie is really more for the gunfights and Val Kilmer's Doc Holiday

the less popular but more substantive Kevin Costner Wyatt Earp film which came out around the same time is probably more to your liking
>>
>>323790737
Did I dream up the way people's scalps would fly off their skulls when you shot them in the head in that game? The only thing I really remember is that the towns had like three people in them and that I loved the headshot animation. But I've never found a video demonstrating it, or anyone mentioning it.

>>
>>323793327
The other one doesn't fully do it for me either.

I just don't get watching Tombstone for gunfights cause they're just montages of dudes shooting and falling, at least after the OK Corral shootout. I would love to love a film where Kurt Russell, Sam Elliot, and Bill Paxton, are brothers trying to clean up some town, but it really don't do it for me.

>Historian Bertram Wyatt-Brown said of dueling in the United States:
>Teenage duels were not uncommon, at least in South Carolina and New Orleans... Three ironies emerged from the dueling custom. First, though confined to a segment of the upper classes, dueling served essentially the same purpose as the lowest eye-gouging battle among Tennessee hog drivers. Second, because of this congruence between upper and lower concepts of honor, dueling was not at all undemocratic. It enabled lesser men to enter, however imperfectly, the ranks of leaders, and allowed followers to manipulate leaders to their taste. Third, the promise of esteem and status that beckoned men to the field of honor did not always match the expectation, but often enough dueling served as a form of scapegoating for unresolved personal problems.
>The quick draw duel is a stereotypical aspect of a gunfighter story in the American Western film genre, although real life Wild West duels did happen such as the Wild Bill Hickok – Davis Tutt shootout, Doc Holliday and Mike Gordon duel, and Luke Short – Jim Courtright duel (see Real-life Wild West duels). Fatal duels were often fought to uphold personal honor in the rural American frontier, and they were partly influenced by the code duello brought by Southern emigrants.[75][76][77] Towns such as Tombstone, Arizona, and Dodge City, Kansas, prevented these duels by prohibiting civilians from carrying firearms, by local ordinance

So, if he watch it all he dies? A daisy growing on a grave was a popular symbol of death at the time. The screenwriter misunderstood the expression "You're a daisy if you do" that Holliday used. It doesn't mean "you are great if you are able to do that" as Kilmer interpreted it, it meant you are dead if you do.

So later when he says "you're no daisy at all" to a guy who is about to die, it actually makes no sense.

The difference is that the east have no logical reason to like western shit, and they have their own stuff, like Rome, vikings and samurais. Yet that never was big like western.

America just loves asian stuff due jews pushing multiculti on them, so it's not comparable
>>
>>323797304
Nigga it ain't got nothing to do with graves. Daisies represented lots of good ideals. Women were named Daisy because of that. If it had a bad connotation you wouldn't have seen everyone starting to name their kids Daisy, because no-one names their kid after shit that's a popular symbol of death.

"Pushing up daisies", which I assume you've worked your way backwards from, isn't even a recorded saying until WWI.

How the hell would it even mean "you're dead if you do"? If he did, he would have killed Doc and maybe lived. When he couldn't, Doc killed him. It doesn't make sense for Doc to have meant it that way in the movie or in RL.

It's not like XCOM at all. Hard West uses the same basic half cover/full cover system, but everything else is different.
There is no reaction fire, so movement is encouraged and there is 0 randomness to the gameplay. Hit calculation is entirely based on aim, defense and the luck bar of the characters. The luck bar gets used up when bullets miss and refilled when bullets hit so if you figure out the system you can predict when enemies are vulnerable and when they aren't. It's fucking genius.
