Has a better city builder ever existed?
>inb4 muh SimCity 4
City building game fan general basically.
it's great so far, but do the have the lane using fixed by now?
It is a big problem, although most traffic problems come from people forgetting to ban heavy traffic from certain districts.
Why is there never any crime.
Like I've never seen crime in my cities go over 5%, and I hardly ever see police cruisers responding to calls.
Also, the ambulance siren spam makes going down close to the city to observe a risk to your sanity.
>WEEEE WOOOO WEEE WOOOO WEEE WOOO WEEE WOOO WEEE WOOO
No, I'm not that much of a poorfag. My specs are pretty decent. Usually the game performs fine right up until I start being able to use high density buildings. Then the sheer number of people makes the FPS plummet.
I've got an Nvidia GTX650 with SLI for reference.
Not that anon, but my framerate goes to shit when I get a decently sized city.
Exactly. There doesn't really seem to be a crime mechanic or use for the police.
It's always bright cyan blue whenever I look at the crime map so I think to myself "why even waste the money?"
>There will never be a detail rich city builder combined with a through the ages detailed RTS empire building game
>You will never establish your caveman cities and slowly watch them upgrade while you wage war on other caveman, progressing through the bronze ages, the steel ages all the way up until the future of space while still maintaining your feature rich cities
>playing traffic simulator 2015
>playing a city builder with pisspoor graphics
anybody else here looking forward to the wildwater DLC coming out later this month?
its 2205. It is definitely dumbed down from 2070, but its still fun and looks damn fucking sexy, as always.
You'd think there would be at least a small rise in unemployment or crime but no. There is literally no reason not to make it city-wide, since it increases happiness.
Banished is also amazing. If there were a top 3 city builder games ever, Cities and Banished would be in that top 3.
2205 pretty significantly changed the meta of the game. There are 3 basic regions, temperate, arctic and moon. Temperate is the region that you make money with (from taxes) and arctic and moon are where you get resources to build up your temperate region.
nigger, 2070 was neat with multiplayer but it took fucking hours, and i mean like 10-12 hours, to build up the tech monument SOLO in a seeded map that was pretty much built to support such an endeavor. All multiplayer maps would turn out to be were just you and you're friends shitty, rinky-dink cities until one of you advances far enough to build jets and then you win. Shit was boring.
Haven't played it since launch. Is the DLC any good? I looked at the Steam workshop, and most of the new mods look like shit.
>muh SimCity 4
I fucken LOVE SC4.
But I only ever fuck around making up shitty little towns cheating my budget with money-giving trees and shit. Is Cities: Skylines good for this? Is Banished?
Also, does anyone else puts trains in their cities? I always do.
Meh. The DLC can be described as meh. There's some new road types and buildings...the day night system of course....It's a nice addon, worth the buy if you have the money.
Fucking trains and Cities Skylines. The game just LOVES to spam regional trains up your fucking ass and create a shitstorm of traffic.
You have pigshit taste desu.
>tfw no speculative fiction building styles, like futurism
I think you mean SimCity 4.
Cities Skyline isn't a city building game, its a traffic management game with the same assets and unrealistic cities. And for a traffic management game its got a shit ton of bad vehicle AI pathing
>There will never be a detail rich city block builder where you have to both play an architect and a developer creating appealing constructions and maintaining a viable line for your company, moving from small lots to gargantuan ones, from small budgets to overly inflated ones, from simple commie bloc-like tasks to ridiculous, rich men snug corners with swimming pools on top of winter gardens and other bullshit known from the Discovery Channel programmes about ridiculous buildings
2205 is an abysmal game on nearly every level. People who loved anno so much that they bought the game on pure faith are done with the series now thanks to how horrible it is.
>It is a big problem, although most traffic problems come from people forgetting to ban heavy traffic from certain districts.
oh my fucking god i've been tearing my whole city apart and making tentacle rape monster tier highway messes and i didn't even think of this
>selling weed no longer illegal
>weed in general is no long criminal
>crime rate lowers
>criminals just give up and straight up
>they wont try to move to another drug or crime
you are straight up naive or dumb, choose.
Being shit at traffic in this game is a death sentence.
Shit road system ---> Slow response times ----> Burned down buildings and dead people and garbage piling up ----> Severe loss of land quality, exodus of citizens ---> dead city.
There should be a tutorial on how to manage traffic in this game.
My dirty industry seems to die out late game when everyone is university educated and the dirty industry has no qualified workers since everyone is working in the office buildings/commercial.
Do you just not build universities to get that majestic splerg of polluting industrial buildings?
No dumbshit inbreed asshole, they do slowly move to stronger drugs sometimes.
The criminals can sell stronger drugs or start another criminal activity. That's what i said in the begining but your slow brain can't understand plain words.
Do you really believe they'll give up and start to working and going to college ?
You dont seem to understand how a fuckin market works
>hurr durr this company is ruined, they immidiately magicly start another one and succeed
there needs to be demand dumb shit
How? Getting rich in this game is almost too easy.
Just follow the RCI meter and put in all the essential service buildings (schools, police, fire emt, etc...) and you'll literally be fine.
Why would crime rates not go down? Even assumning that every smalltime dealer moves over to hard drugs, then you still have less reported crimes that have to do with owning or trafficking weed
I don't see a situation where crime rates would increase instead of decrease after legalization
>How do I not go bankrupt?
Don't be a dumbass. Just follow RCI like the other dude said.
Make sure you focus on residential, especially early on.
Also don't do those policies that literally strip away your money like the smoke alarm program or water saving, etc....early on.
Being legalized wouldn't make drug dealers disappear. They would sell drugs on both ends, they already have the distribution methods, also their illegal goods would be cheaper because no tax.
Got the game for christmas, play it a lot, and it's pretty fun. But starting to get problems with traffic, I noticed a lot of cars despawning before reaching their goal. And the trains are soooooooo 8ad, they cause so much traffic.
Th8 eat so much of by 8udget too, like, it costs almost 10 000 to have four st8tions for goods. My economy isn't am8zing, using all this money for something else would 8e nice.
I've mostly focused on metros, 8ut 8een setting up some 8us routes the past couple of d8s now. The 8us depot costs money, and I think there are too many regular cars on the road. Some people pro8a8ly have too far to travel to get to the metro st8tions, so giving them 8us would 8e nice, and then th8 can switch to metro when it is av88le.
