I'm having a blast with the leaked version and i'm liking the game thus far. I'm kind of a poorfag but i got to preorder the game anyway, thing is, i'm playing with the autonomy skill (You get stat increases if you play without pawns) and thus, i'm starting to doubt if i need the online at all.
What should i do?
Dragon's Dogma thread i guess
You don't 'need' the online. You can play through the entire game and BBI autonomously.
But you should still buy the game, because when you actually understand how pawns work, how to train them, how to prepare them to balance with your abilities, and four Sorc parties, it's pretty damn
I'd buy it purely for the pawn system.
offline pawns are worse than shit and smart as downies
So it'll basically be you and your trained, smart pawn and 2 idiots bumbling around
the most fun part of DD is to use new player made pawns and see what they are trained to do.
Like my own amazon snusnu pawn warrior grabs enemies a lot and tend to throw them over ledges, she also does a lot of jump slams due to watching me doing it.
You could prolly train your pawn to only pick up random shit to throw at enemies if they see any etc. Its a really cool system and missing out on it would suck
>That one guy in /ddg/ who made El Donte
>All he ever did was grapple friendly pawns
>Should i cancel my preorder
>I'm kind of a poorfag
Are you clinically retarded or something?
Why would you pre order something if you're strapped for cash?
Maybe your lack of intelligence and lack of money isn't a coincidence.
Guys... what's the password to Schoolproject?
cause i got a part time job and i can allow myself to buy some games from time to time, but don't know if i should buy something else instead if i can just pirate it and play offline
There's too much for me to be arsed to tell you. Go to /ddg/ and they'll have a faq, or someone will explain it all.
But in short,
>Pawns copy your playstyle if you're a similar vocation, and the better you are the better your pawn is; if you're accurate and fast with your bow your pawn will be too, if you jump-climb instead of normal climbing your pawn will too, if you repeatedly jump over Death's scythe your pawn will too
>Pawns have inclinations which alter their fighting style, and understanding how these work is key
>Pawns will learn things about objects and enemies as you play, for example if you hit a monster's weak point the pawn will learn to attack that weak point, or if you're often falling to your death your pawn will try to catch you
>Spell Synergy: If you and your pawn have a common spell and one of you starts preparing to cast that spell, the other can piggyback on the preparation time; unleash four Maelstrom's at once
People that already have the game on PS3 won't buy it, but pirate it, and if you are a poor fag you might as well pirate it too. Another con is that it's Steam and it has DRM. You should however support Capcom for doing a good job for bringing this to PC and it's working amazingly, not to mention that these types of games need to be made more often.
>People that already have the game on PS3 won't buy it
You are incorrect.
It was originally designed for controller, so controller's probably best.
But then you can customize it on KBM to whatever feels comfortable so it's probably a non-issue. Go with your gut.
not him but i bought the game three times now
once for the vanilla on ps3
twice for the Dark arisen expansion on ps3
thrice for the PC version.
Well I've pirated the game and preordered it too.
Is there a way to transfer the save from the pirated version to the Steam version?
Fite me faggot
Not even one either of the guys you quoted but you're just retarded.
Also not pictured, DD that I bought physical and the extra copy of DD:DA that I bought as a gift for a friend.
remember when /v/ was up in arms because this was the first game with on disc content that was locked behind a paywall?
and now you idiots are arguing over who bought the game more times. How truly pathetic.
Goddamnit, I'm having too much fun with my Magick Archer.
I really don't want to lose my progress
>remember when /v/ was up in arms because this was the first game with on disc content that was locked behind a paywall?
No I don't. Firstly because no-one was up in arms about it and secondly because it was nowhere near the first.
>You argue like a woman
This whole board is whining like a woman and so was your post, go on the catalog and hide every thread that's about something negative or bitching about stupid shit and see with how many threads you end up with.
Would you prefer that I list all the ways you are wrong specifically instead of more efficiently saying that you are completely wrong? Okay, DD was literally the first game to have content shipped on the game disc that you had to pay to unlock. Everyone on /v/ freaked the fuck out. There were threads for days about this shit, game websites even took issue with it, and capcom eventually apologized but said they are going to do it for DD anyway.
If you can't remember this happening you weren't around.
>mfw making my main pawn look like my waifu
Might buy it just so I can run around an kill things with her
Plus it's only like 20 euros
>Okay, DD was literally the first game to have content shipped on the game disc that you had to pay to unlock
And this is entirely 100% false. The game released in 2012. That's at least four years where this shit was already happening, if not longer, and we've been complaining about it long before DD was even conceptualized. Blow me.
If you are a poorfag and can't afford it that makes it kind of hard to support Capcom by buying it.
If it appears Capcom is going to make the game worth the money (updates, not nickel and diming people to death with DLC, etc) then I will most likely buy it. I have some extra money in my pocket, but I'm not sure what to buy. I'm being really stingy with my money right now because I'm trying to make it stretch. There's been a few games I've looked at, but I'm not sure if any of them are really worth my money. Pirated Darkest Dungeon and seems fun, but it being a roguelike turn-based RPG I'm not sure if I'll be able to stay into it later in the game. I played the starter edition of Diablo III and I was really sucked in.
Or just buy DDDA.
Paid DLC is very different from on-disc DLC.
And on-disc DLC was happening long before DD came along, and we were complaining about it long before DD came along. I don't know what kind of kicks you get out of pretending people even gave a shit about DD when it was first released, but if you want to keep acting as if the first summer you saw people complaining about something must have been the first time it ever happened and people complained, then you have fun with that.
When you play offline the game makes infinite pawns in the rift you can use also btw. Level doesn't matter they'll have gear and stuff representing their level. Online is really for Ur-Dragon hunting and hiring friends pawns off each other for rift crystals.
It was literally the only reason why people gave a shit about DD.
People didn't know the dlc for mass effect 3 was on disc until later. People knew about DD well before it was released.
2012 wasn't even that long ago, just how new are you people?
>Only one pawn of your own
What's the quickest way to get around this?
I want many pawns made with my two bare hands.
Strider, going into Assassin when you can switch. Assassin is basically the, "It does everything," class so is easiest to get a handle on when you're starting out. From there switch to whatever you feel like whenever you feel like it.
All the vocations are pretty fucking great, aside from Mage. Mage is basically for support pawns only. If you want to be a shitripping wizard, you've got Sorcerer for that.
The highest tier spells cast very slow, you can speed it up by acquiring some passive skill that increases cast time, a ring you acquire in a main quest you have to give away
or not, if you make a forgery and hand over the fakeor having sorcerer pawns in your party with the same spell you are casting
The highest tier spells are huge AoE stuff like meteors and tornadoes, if you want more direct stuff you can shoot fireballs, summon ice platforms, cast thunders, etc
They get repetitive fast and have stupidly long cast times.
If you want to sling good looking spell-like abilities often and have a more active playstyle then go Magick Archer.
Sorcs have a gimmick where they can cast stuff along other Sorcs more effectively so if you want you can go maximum Sorc with yourself and pawns to cast a lot of shit at once.
Pawns are great and help drive a community
People will create all kinds of pawns appropriate for the kind of team you envision or completely ridiculous enough to just be a blast running around
The game is so open with it's leveling system that you'll find yourself playing with all kinds of skills and builds so it's doubtful you'll always want autonomy
My advice to new DD players: don't minmax your character. I see it as advice all the time and it's stupid. Base stats make a tiny difference compared to equipment, and aiming a build at level 200 is pointless because you can deal with any content in the game by level 100. Just play whatever's fun and don't worry about stats.
Min Maxing is only needed if autism hits you in fighting the online ur dragon. Even then you have so many abilities and equipment to send your attack through the roof. It's boring sticking to one class.
Nothing wrong with it, I'm just saying as a new player you shouldn't restrict yourself out of concern for your stats. Just like I see tons of people on line saying not to play warrior because it can't kill Ur-Dragon. While it's the weakest class in may ways, it can be a lot of fun and I don't like that people are discouraged from trying it.
is there gonna be a way to change the gamepad prompts cause having "3" pop up evertime instead of B is aggrivating
never played DD before, whats a good starting class? are there any OP as fuck classes?
Fighter is great for starting stats 1-10
Ranger is the most balanced with highest Stamina increase
Can just go on the wiki but it's all irrelevant play what's fun. I've never given a mage a proper go though I only level it for vocations.
