>game has shotguns
>you have to almost kiss the guy in order for them to work
>game has shotguns
>they actually have decent reach aka more than 1 meter
>players whine it's ''unrealistic'' because they unironically believe shotguns are pretty much melee weapons
>they get nerfed to shit
Destiny isn't a place for competitive multilayer though. It's fun but incredibly unbalanced.
The only reason shogun and snipsies are overused is because there's no other weapon to compete.
Plus, if you're listening to your whining 15 year olds who don't know shit then you're failing. Fucking bungo
what kind of faggot calls a sniper rifle a "snipsie"?
>tfw Doom still has one of the most accurate shotguns (except for being able to snipe with it)
>tfw faggots really believe shotgun pellets ungroup after 5 feet to the point of unusability.
I mean yea they're not meant to be like rifles, but you generally (depending on the shotgun) have reliability up to 50feet give or take. It's not a straw with a spitwad, it's a fucking shotgun.
5:50, you can see how tight the spray pattern stays even at that distance. It loses some power as the travel time increases abit but as far as range and grouping shotguns are fairly accurate.
>mfw STALKER has buck, slugs and arts for shotguns and all are useful
>mfw beating clear sky on master difficulty with just a leather jacket and an over and under shotgun
Few people will know this joy
>becoming this butthurt about somebody pointing out that your gay made-up slang sounds retarded
It's the same reason why snipsies require you to hit someone in the head to kill them or why automatic weapons shoot paper mache bullets despite being similar caliber as marksmen rifles.
Because real life isn't balanced and games try to be while also imitating real life.
Skeet shooting and snipe hunting wouldn't be much of a sport if the pellets spread out after 15 fucking meters.
I think that's a fair argument, it's just the realistic behavior with a touch of fantasy that gets me sometimes. Like, I shouldn't be able to use my snipsies if I'm getting pegged by something else.
You are shooting pellets out of a long barrel, most of them are going straight out. It's not like they randomly explode out in different directions once they come out of the barrel...
Even saying it "ironically" still makes you a complete fucking faggot.
oi m8, we's just takin' tha piss wicha
I've been on this board for over 6 years as well, and I've also never heard it till today.
It's always been called a Sniper.
And, you "Snipe" someone.
Snipsies sounds like some new fruity, faggot, reddit term.
Half of /v/ is reddit now.
Everything new to /v/ since 2012 originates in reddit since they try so hard to viral their bullshit here.
It's always been called a Sniper Rifle faggot, get fucked.
I don't browse shit fuckface, I can smell reddit's scent all the way over here a mile away.
This dumb term reeks of reddits "trying too hard to be original" culture.
Thanks for confirming it was from reddit though, now get the fuck outta here faggot.
>carrying 40 lb sniper rifles
>firing 50 Cal rifles rapid fire while standing
>jumping out of 2nd story windows doing sick spins with them
>shotguns in the game have a great feeling of weight behind them
>firing shotguns from the hip makes you feel like a badass
Bonus points if you can kick down a door before you start shooting a double barrel
Rifles also become unrealistically inaccurate at like 500 meters.
I don't hear you bitching about it, though.
It's simply a side effect of FPS gunfights being short range. So all guns have to have short range to compensate.
It's just more noticeable with shotguns.
Shotguns are good for firing specialized ammo like lock destroyers (whatever they're actually called), non-lethal ammo, etc. They're versatile, but they're more of a police weapon.
Shotguns are objectively a poor choice in Insurgency.
I think range isn't much of an issue in most games now, it is there retarded idea of how little damage a shotgun should do. Every shooter I have played has shotguns set up where you can survive even a point blank shot, when anything for about 15-20 feet should kill.
I meant that shotguns are done well in Insurgency.
It's only realistic that they aren't stronger than assault rifles, save some niché situations.
That only makes using them more satisfying.
>sit behind a cover shooting at shit you can't see or hear kilometers away
>raise your head and get instakilled
Sounds like fun.
Also, another issue is grenades. Standing 10 meters away from an exploding grenade is a-ok in video games, while in real life fragments would kill you.
Fine realistic flamethrower incoming:
Heavy as absolute fuck, fuel has it burn for 10 continuous seconds at most, to refuel you need to take off or have someone else do it, and it's a giant target that takes up your center of mass that explodes in one shot.
>Shotguns are objectively a poor choice in Insurgency.
How interesting, because shotguns are also a poor choice in RL.
If you are in the distance to use a shotgun you did something wrong. The only exception being in those trench and house-to-house battles in WW2, but then people died like animals when the battle got that close.
No, they were fine, it was just piss poor map design that encouraged it's use. Plus players have this thing where they want to get close for some fucking reason, then rage about shotguns.
iirc it's because shotguns would be the undisputed best gun ever in every game they're in if they had their fully realistic range, since most encounters are relatively close range.
Are you faggots still arguing about this shit?
Snipsies was around /v/ a while ago (last I remember almost 10 years), but it was a faggot thing to say then and it's a faggot thing to say now. You're all faggots. Holy shit.
