Undertale is so shit tier compared to OFF.
But Undertale is shit tier even when it's not being compared to better games, so whatever.
Um... Off is a pretty good game, yeah. I don't see why you have to compare it to Undertale, though? Especially with such rampant and baseless animosity. Like, do you even have a reason for this post? You sound mad.
Or you know, play both. Form your own opinions, unlike OP here.
Sort of, it's mostly just surreal and the how weird it is makes you sort of forget you're beating burn victims to death, or buying from a merchant with someone elses skin stitched to his face.
Having finished both Undertale is the better game. OFF is just generic ATB and every boss is won by inflicting poison then waiting and that shit they pull halfway through world 3 where they remove your ability to run and decrease your walking speed by half almost made my drop the game.
I played both and enjoyed them in their own ways. I hope that other people are able to enjoy more than one single game as well.
Why are you still making threads about this game months after launch? If you hate it so much, why not let the discussion die down so we can lay it to rest and enjoy other games?
Here you go, OP.
Artwork for Undertale made by the very same guy who made OFF.
Meaning you should love the game like Mortis Ghost.
>OFF isn't as popular as Undertale so it's okay to like it here
Don't try and pretend that isn't the case
OFF is the worst of the bunch of 'these' games
Worse than the mother series
Worse than LISA
And, to be poignant, worse than Undertale
But it's free so whatever, no skin
OFFone's nose if they play it.
Honestly I thought it was shallow as fuck and tried too hard at being deep while falling flat on its ass, and the gameplay sucked ass in particular.
I liked Undertale and LISA much more, their take on mature themes felt more natural and they had great combat and world to bak them up.
Yeah, but Undertale is super popular now so you have to hate it.
But seriously, this late after release it's clear that all Undertale threads being made are to shitpost.
Like those stupid fucking threads about Undertale not winning best writing or whatever
OFF's story has no emotional investment whatsoever. The game takes special pains to separate me as a player from my avatar, The Batter. It then proceeds to railroad me through The Batter's quest, taking no input from me except helping The Batter progress. At the end, the game guilt trips me for what The Batter has done, (even though there was nothing I could do to stop him except stop playing the game) and then gives me a "moral choice" so inconsequential that it makes Mass Effect 3's ending look good in comparison.
My favorite part was when The Judge, the first character to directly address me as the player and one of the few characters to acknowledge that I was the one controlling The Batter, PHYSICALLY THREATENED me after he was done trying to guilt me before the final battle. It was probably an issue with the translation, but boy did it look pathetic.
Undertale's fanbase fucked everything up pretty badly, especially by shoving Hopes and Dreams in everyone's face.
OFF's Puzzles are a pain in the ass, and you WILL need a walkthrough for it.
But both games aren't terrible, nor amazing.
They're just good.
Kinda, the whole point was that you basicaly just lost yourself in your job of purificating everything and with time Batter just stops caring about everyone and starts fucking up even those who weren't a threat.
Though this is my interpretation and I feel like the game was made this way so everyone can think about the story for themselves and have their own interpretations of what the fuck is happening.
But yeah, it can be edgy, especialy by the end of the game.
I started OFF and only got to Zone 2. I stopped after
revisiting Zone 1 and getting my shit pushed in by those weird fuckers that OHK'd me and my party members
Is it worth continuing?
I only played off for an hour and a half but the combat was so unbearably shit it made me drop it. I'll never understand why people feel the need to add shitty RPG Maker combat to their 2deep4u walking simulators so they can pretend it's a game, or why people defend them.
Thanks. I just played the game for 15 minutes and this was exactly the kind of picture it was painting for me. Saved the effort.
I wouldn't have minded wasting a day of work for this, but when an RPGMaker game uses initial RTP resources I just can't be bothered to finish it.
ugly artstyle that screams laziness
ugly pixel graphics that don't even make sense (pixels stretch and rotate, they don't act as true pixels)
poor use of color (lots of black and white)
babbys first bullet hell gameplay
combat is basically puzzles with incredibly easy or nonsensical solutions
