the game would have been way better if zidane/steiner/garnet/vivi were the only party characters. everyone else except amrant was terrible and amrant only has 5 lines in the entire game

He's the captain of an order of knights that most people think are a big fucking joke... including people in that order. He's as stiff and rigid and unthinking as his armor until sometime after coming into contact with Zidane.

However, unlike most of the rest of his order he isn't a goddamn joke, nor is he as stiff, inflexible or generally incompitent as he's made out to be. The magic sword shit with vivi? That was Steiner's idea. He's also one of the special few individuals in the FF9 Universe capable of entering the Trance state, which automatically makes him exceptional.

As others have said, he ends up coming into conflict with his queen because he's there to protect garnet. He beats beatrix in a fight (and also causes her to fall in love with him) and while all sorts of shit is going on in the battle for alexandria, he protects the shit out of the people.

My one wish for the IX remaster on Steam and mobile is to have the battles sped up and shorten the wait in their "Ready to do something" pose.

In VII and VIII you select a command and it will be done instantly assuming the enemy or another party member isn't doing something. You select a command in IX and the game takes forever to execute your action.

Fuck that shit and fuck the trance mechanic too. Hate wasting it on trash enemies when a boss is coming up.
