I definitely think this game gives dark souls a run for its money in terms of giving the enemies equal opportunities to kill you, while also giving you a wide variety of ways to go about combat.

This game is just kicking my shit in. I'm only in the second 'area' I guess you'd call it. The part after the cutscene with Sydney using a summoning circle while he has that female riskbreaker captive. The skeletons aren't much of an issue, but the damn ghost or the amphibian will fuck me up.

Its all about understading all the crafting system. I guess the only problem with the game is the lack of easy way to understand it, but once you get familiar with it, is addictive as fuck.

Where can I craft? I got to the workshop just before the cutscene I mentioned but I walked all around the room trying every button at every place in the room and nothing came up even though it said I would be able to "combine materials" there. Also I land a 4+ chain only once in a blue moon during combat so that isn't helping my case much either.

EDF games on any difficulty above normal has no issue overwhelming you if you don't turtle.

Ok ill try a TLDR
You craft on the menu, check for it. Dont remember where exactly, i think its on equipment.
There are multiple workshops in lea monde (the island you are). Difference between them? the materials you can work with. For example, the first workshop you see, you can only work with leather, wood, and bronze (i think, dont remember too well), so if you have an iron weapon or armor, you cant work with it. For now, the first workshop is useless.
When you combine materials, its got a chance you can get a superior material. For example, if you mix bronce blade with a iron blade, you get Hagane blade. A worse Hagane blade than a pure Hagane blade.
I suggest you to dont bother with crafting way after you leave the first levels of mines. For now, just gather a bunch of weapons, and train with them. Fandango sword should be good against those amphibians (dragon type)

Thanks for the tip, I tried reading through the game manual but I must've overlooked that. Also how important is weapon DP? There is a chain skill that increases weapon DP, and the Fandango is about 46/130 or something.

There are DP and there are XX something, dont remember the other.
when a weapon hits, it decreases one (reducing the weapon efectiveness in general, its like durability), but increases the other. Why do you care if the Ghost or ethereal points (i think thats how they were called) increase or not? there is a chain skill that it hits harder when the ghosts points are higher.
Sorry if im not too helpful, last time i played it was like 1 year or something.

Here are some random tips i know they are true.

>You are gonna need 1 weapon for each type of enemy preferably (dont worry about it too much early game, but eventually you'll need it). But remember, if you have a weapon thats really strong against undead types, doesnt mean you are gonna kill every undead with it easily. Why? there are other factors like Element affinity and Type of weapon (probably that undead weapon has too much fire affinity, and the enemy is strong to fire), shit like that.
>If you get stuck, go back, upgrade your equipment and train the weapon so it can be bettter against that enemy/boss
>Sometimes you get items that increase your stats by 1/2/3/4, like STR or HP. Those numbers are random. If you use save states, try to get the +4 always. If you dont, then i recommend to save, use it, and if you dont get the +4, then load. Doenst apply to bosses bonuses, because it would be too tedious (unless you use save states)
>The best way to get new weapons and armor is killing humans carrying it. Further in the game you'll notice them.

I finally played through this game earlier this year. And I must tell you it's really, really easy, if you're not retarded. The final boss took like two chains before going into phase two. And apparently, I had to cancel his super attack by hitting him, when he flew over me, but I face tanked it every time, and it didn't even kill me.

DP has no effect on damage until it drops to zero, which is never, unless you deliberately never repair it. Repairing costs PP which you accumulate by just using the weapon.

No, fuck that. What you need to have is edged/blunt/piercing weapon and weapon of every element. The enemy class doesn't matter that much. Anyway, all of those are easily adjusted with gems and/or enchantments.

I know for the greatsword at least there are a bunch of scripted drops that will get you a pretty solid weapon if you pay attention and stay stocked up.

the shandy gaff broadsword you find in the catacombs can be combined with the katana that drops from the dark crusader for a higher tier greatsword, etc.

just don't go crafting willy nilly or you'll end up with a worthless NORSE SWORD like I had in my first playthrough, or god forbid a SPATHA

man I remember I was fucked when I realized my orc/goblin killing sword did nothing against human enemies, because despite being in the same 'HUMAN' category, their elemental affinities were complete opposites.

killing orcs and goblins with the sword had grinded its air affinity, but the human knight enemies were highly resistant to air and vulnerable to earth instead, so I had to whip up an earth-aligned weapon from scratch to compete with them.

it's a lot simpler than it looks though, your weapon damage just defaults to whichever damage type is the highest (the one highlighted in white), and I've found that a light-aligned weapon for killing undeads and evils can carry you through pretty much the whole game, barring the few light-aligned liches I've heard about.

PRO TIP looting up a weapon from a late-game enemy, even if it's 'blade' portion is inferior to the tools you already have, can be worth your while as a source of higher tier grips with more gem slots on them, since you can grind and craft improved blades, but not grips.

This is the most valuable tip for making the game easy. Getting str/agi at +4 will result in such a dramatic early game boost of hit rate and damage that it'll carry you through the rest with ease.
