The bandits have a chance of dropping the mask they wear, but I don't think any enemy other than bosses drop weapons.
And there are quite a few side quests that reward you with gear, every treasure chest has its own loot table, and pretty much all of them have a chance of dropping some sort of gear.
But early on in the game new armor and weapons are mostly bought.

Should've figured PCasuals wouldn't be able to figure out how to properly make a good pawn.

Just make it utilitarian/challenger, they'll buff you as soon as you enter combat or if you use the help command. Which is imo the main thing you'd want from a mage.
They'll still drop everything to heal you or remove status effects, which is actually something you want unless you want fill your inventory with curatives and play the whole game running at a snail's pace.
High halidom is pretty fucking good, and cures everything aside from petrification I think.

You can cheat it in so you have it, but it has no icons, seemingly no models and cannot be equipped by any classes. Chances are they removed icon/models from the game and have made the items totally unusable.

I really like the gameplay, map design, enemies, world design (though characters seem to be walking cliches) but I don't particularly care about pawn mechanic itself and the game is completely buried under tons of menus and tutorials that you have to endure if you want to have a clear picture of what it's like to play it. By this I mean wanting to start as a warrior after fiddling with archery for a while.

Can I dismiss the pawn I had to design and go completely alone and how feasible is this on normal difficulty?

Oh and that encampment quest where you have to destroy dummies with magick - you have to find a magic item to enhance your weapons with, right? Couldn't to it with an archer in time because I had nothing to damage them with in inventory and my pawn is warrior.

I really hope someone makes a good UI/HUD mod, I fight with various prompts more than I fight with enemies, and if there was a way to skip the fucking tutorial section it would be dandy.

You can "kill" your pawn (send them back to Pawn Limbo) by throwing them in the ocean then just never summoning them again. It'll be tough in the early game. In the late game there are builds that make it manageable.

Don't worry about builds. Stats do not matter hardly at all because gear will do a lot more than your innate stats.

The game is fucking easy and unless you play a mage for 100 levels and then try to play warrior you will be fine with pretty much any stats.
