> Spend more time in the rift looking for a mage with cure and the other thing that has the utilitarian and medicant personality than actually playing the game.
Fuck why cant you search for personalities?
Also Dragons Dogma Thread I guess
Hey non shit posting. Thanks OP. Personalities are annoying especially when you find a great pawn with all the stuff you need, and it's a fucking guardian. Can't wait for pawn sharing with my pals on Steam. I'm probably not gonna join a group because what's the point of RC if you can just get lvl 200 pawns for free?
can you see their inclinations in the list or after you summoned one into the rift?
or nightmare mode: only after you transfered them into your world?
Also I just started playing on hardmode
>it drops 10k gold
I like where this is going, I enjoy becoming demi-god tier the further the game progresses, it can only get better from here on out
Or you can just buy cheap items that do the same thing
Has the widescreen issue been solved yet? I really want to play the damn game
i literally don't know what I'll play, every class sans the warrior/fighter classes look like so much fun
also no idea what to make my pawn, or if I should double team and make it the same vocation as me
ahhhhh this game is too hard, before I even started it
I'm in the same boat. Leaning towards Strider/Assassin/Ranger, particularly Ranger if I enjoy the archery. But I wonder if I should make my pawn stay a strider or make them a ranger too.
What widescreen issue?
You mean yesterday when the leak went big?
fuck you m8, going assassin for a bunch of levels for str and stamina, then going fighter for life. Dragon's maw for life
/v/ already hates it, the majority on /v/ are exclusive pc players, once they got their hands on the game and realized it was a mediocre and bland action-rpg they started shitposting it to death
>But I wonder if I should make my pawn stay a strider or make them a ranger too
Since both strider and ranger pawns can be good at climbing everything and shooting everything.
For me it usually comes down to the ranger's tenfold flurry vs the strider's downpour volley + fivefold flurry. And tenfold usually wins.
Playing dragons dogma dark arisen on pc.
Just entered a city after doing the snake head escort mission. Now how the fuck do you get new swords and armor? I know u can buy them but cmon there gotta be away to just find them right? since it doesnt seem like you can loot enemys like in the witchers series. sad.
>no 21:9 support when the original was letterboxed anyway
>fullscreen doesn't even just letterbox it into 1920x1080
It's pretty annoying having to play it with the background visible on windowed.
The bandits have a chance of dropping the mask they wear, but I don't think any enemy other than bosses drop weapons.
And there are quite a few side quests that reward you with gear, every treasure chest has its own loot table, and pretty much all of them have a chance of dropping some sort of gear.
But early on in the game new armor and weapons are mostly bought.
does anyone know where the save files are locaetd? i dont want to spend more time if the retail version is coming out in a few days and cant transfer over. i looked in the documents and program files
Yeah you're supposed to take hits as Warrior. Mage and Sorcerers need to step back and stealth cast magic. Well, Sorcerer has a charge shot you can run around the battlefield shooting. That's pretty fun sometimes.
So far I've found magic archer to be the most fun. At first it seems like easymodo because autolel and I guess it is but it's too fucking fun. Only thing that sucks is that it's fucking magic damage.
Sorcerer gets a little dull after a while, though it can definitely get hairy in some contexts since spellcasting is slow as balls.
Oh I love that part, it's the "waiting behind corners intoning this 2min spell" part that I don't particularly enjoy.
As you should, Roll is arguably the best passive/core/active skill in the entire fucking game. That shit doesn't even cost stamina, literally no reason not to use it.
Followed closely by instant reset.
waste of time, it takes no time to get curatives, game pauses in your menu, and you don't really have to worry often about healing pawns since you can just get them up again
healing STATUS is good but not health
>utilitarian and medicant
I thought that medicant was a bad inclination, as the pawn will drop whatever they're doing and run over to heal you if you get so much as a paper cut
Or am I getting that confused with a different one?
Don't care about the 720p
I just want a stable 30fps with medium settings
My installation is stuck like that for 10 minutes now, is it normal?
Anyone with a early rip able to say how it runs? I bought the game twice already but I'll grab it for pc if it fixes the frame rate.
So I just got to Gran Soren and I received some armor sets for completing the escor quest. Are these some kind of dlc armors? Because they seem a little overpowered and ruin my hobo phase. Or am I going t find something better in the next 20 minutes?
"PIRATES ARE KILLING THE GAME"
>Currently top seller on steam
Playing this game with a 270x at 1080p/60fps, although I do get some slowdowns sometimes. This is my first experience with this game and everything is going pretty smooth.
Do you have a controller? I'm just finishing the installation and was hoping to play an hour before sleep but I won't have a controller untill tomorrow, is it playable with a keyboard?
Just make it utilitarian/challenger, they'll buff you as soon as you enter combat or if you use the help command. Which is imo the main thing you'd want from a mage.
They'll still drop everything to heal you or remove status effects, which is actually something you want unless you want fill your inventory with curatives and play the whole game running at a snail's pace.
High halidom is pretty fucking good, and cures everything aside from petrification I think.
How hard would you hire if I would go full assfaggotminmax on a Hermione Granger Lookalike Mage pawn that I make learn the ways of proper mageing while playing a PC sorcerer? 10/10 idea or complete shit?
What /v/ would hire isn't really going to be representative of the majority of playerbase that your pawn will be presented to. I don't understand why so many people are posting for approval of their pawn ideas.
It is when the majority of /v/irgins are going to hire other /v/irgin pawns, and whore out their own.
Healers don't mean much in DD, man. You may as well make them a straight sorcerer.
Would hire the hell out of a good sorcerer if you trained them right, though.
I have a ds4 that I had connected once the game started so I don't know how kb+m is but the control layout is pretty good and the customization for it is also pretty good.
Intredasting, thanks fellow feller. I might make Merlin and Medivh combo then instead
Wow, maybe this will help someome. I installed the game on an external hard drive and it works just fine on any computer, 22 Gb installed only on that file.
Maybe it sounds stupid but 90% of games nowadays dont do that.
It released months after Skyrim, and it would be obvious to anyone working on DD that there is much less content overall, and is relatively unpolished.
Capcom probably had estimates for good sales with fantasy hype up, but they aren't idiots.
So how does this pawn system work? You have your main pawn that you fully customize, and the other two are just rejects you hire that are copies of other players pawns or pre-made ones? Do you hire them for long amounts of time? Are they expensive?
>and the other two are just rejects you hire that are copies of other players pawns or pre-made ones?
they are and are not copies. Anything the pawn learns while in your game they still know when they get dismissed and "return" to their master.
>Do you hire them for long amounts of time? Are they expensive?
Depends, if the pawn is good you can keep it for a long time. If not, you'll probably keep changing them every level.
They are free if they are around your level. Trying to hire pawns that are much higher level than yours is expensive.
Game isn't even out yet and the nude mods are, lmao
why does the game looks like a 2008 game?
>What could possibly go wrong?
He doesn't know about masterworks...
That's completely unnecessary though unless you want to min max like a faggot. The level pacing is fine with pawns your level.
The only thing I'd say is don't get pawns that are too much higher than you just because they will obliterate everything they come across and ruin the experience.
They didn't spend shit on this game though. It was barely marketed, and got gimped early in development because they didn't wanna spend a lot of money on it. I'm sure it's already turned a huge profit on the PC port.
I'm not sure, but I did hear they are still in the game files and just can't be acquired through normal means. In which case it would be pretty easy to get via cheat engine, yeah. Just gotta wait and see.
You know, most people don't sit around thinking about consolewar bullshit when deciding what games to like. You've spent too much time on /v/ and forgotten how the real world works.
>Personalities are annoying especially when you find a great pawn with all the stuff you need, and it's a fucking guardian
Oh man that's so true. I was playing on PS3 yesterday, came across a somewhat novel character, fat midget warrior with the bull helmet, all the Bitterblack ability boosts, figured I'll hire him. But then the pawn didn't do anything, just stood next to me because it was a fucking guardian
>playing the pirated early release
Yeah enjoy those rift crystals in your perma offline mode, hope you don't want DLC gear :^)
I bought the game 3 times, and offered to buy it for someone else if they wanted it. They haven't said anything yet but I could very well end up buying it 4 times.
And I wouldn't care if I did.
>piratefags will never know the joy of finding a well-trained, properly-inclined pawn of a bro who's leveling at about your speed, and taking them along for the whole game
How do you fashion your Striders? Entirely cloths and leathers for looking speedy/thiefy/faggy or furs for looking like a woodsman? I want to try a bow knight look but there's nothing Striders can wear that looks sufficiently like armor
Berserker armor is in the game, but it's not usable at all.
You can cheat it in so you have it, but it has no icons, seemingly no models and cannot be equipped by any classes. Chances are they removed icon/models from the game and have made the items totally unusable.
Anon, do you think there's only one person on this board that wants to be the little girl?
I want to download this but im on my last warning with my ISP for torrenting shit
then just wait 3 fucking days
holy shit how fucking autistic do some of you people have to be that you can't wait 3 short ass fucking days, play some other fucking video games while you wait jesus christ nigger
just so everyone realizes, the progress bar on SEYTER is broken.
at around ~28 gb unpacked it stops at 70% and will continue to unpack until it reaches ~42 gb at which point it will finally be able to move past 70% (40 minutes later for most people) and you'll be left with a 19.6gb installation.
slavs cannot into progress bars it seems.
If he lives in America that bluff doesn't work, because most markets your choices are either Comcast, Time Warner, or just one of those two. They have literal monopolies on entire regions. You get your internet from them, or your don't get internet.
I do think it's a mistake and I'm not apologizing too hard for Capcom here, but remember your two aerial attacks are actually relevant unlike for mages, so that offsets it somewhat.
How do you have fun with sorcerer?
It's so annoying being stuck to the ground for ages to cast a single spell, even if it's flashy shit that kills everything on the screen
The fact you are so slow in an action RPG where most enemies are fast is also terrible
Here was my old raggedy little girl
How fucking evil and shitty do you have to be to make Google look like a benevolent savior?
>tfw when even comcast is better than this southern garbage
I've pirated terrabytes on comcast in a day and never heard a word from them.
Was in Rift for about 20 something minutes looking for a decent mage pawn. Was like pulling teeth.
>no skills on for some fucking reason
>corrupt pawn data has been removed
I don't have many screens from my Ranger run but I don't remember the equips looking that bad generally.
>run the game at the lowest settings
>game barely manages to play at 30FPS
Why does Capcom hates my computer?
The game's been a lot of fun so far, but if I ever do another playthrough, it'll just be one more since the game's just too long.
I'm currently a strider, and I'll probably combine with the warrior down the road since Mage seems to be a more different playthrough than choosing warrior for my next one.
Does that sound about right? Should I go ranger instead and skip warrior entirely in the game?
at the very least, when Google's low-cost gigabit internet is widely available, other companies will either lower their costs or lose their business. they're heroes to the casual and middle class that doesn't actually care about their internet freedums, and honestly if the internet quality is good and doesn't fuck all my shit up, i'll probably get it when it comes to my region. fuck cox and all that other gay shit.
you can find it easily
if you know how
What kind of stuff though? I suppose if you were downloading popular American shows and movies you would still probably get a notice regardless of service because this country is shit.
Sure. These pants don't exist in the PC version though. The thong does however
The moment you do that is the moment they actually forward your downloading activities to the copyrights that request them.
Trust me, I work for a shitty ISP and as soon as a customer threatens to leave we're told to tell them we'd be forced to forward those copyright infringements forward to the organizations that want to buttfuck you for doing it.
The REAL thing you need to do is just stop torrenting like 50 gigs every goddam day. Cool down for a month and then start pirating every other week or something.
Tsundere healers are pretty funny if I recall. They'll be all exasperated about healing you and tell you to step your game up and shit.
Or just go Strider/Rangr, they're always handy. Make sure to give them Challenger inclination, which focuses on their strength of picking off other enemy mages/archers.
Plug in a controller and pretend you're playing the console version.
>downloading dolphin porn
this just gets better and better anon
Play whatever's fun. Strider has balanced MAG/ATK progession so you're not even terribly fucked if you wanna be a Sorcerer. If you wanna be a Magic Archer then level Sorc for a while to catch your MAG back up. But you're certainly not fucked if you wanna go Warrior.
Can't wait to play Parent/Child Arisen/Pawn. Going to have them use the same vocation for convenience and proper pawn training.
Shit is going to be incredibly cash.
So PC friends, how many are going to make a crusader Pawn to aid you in your quest to save the world?
How the fuck are you guys playing online? The game isn't released until Friday. Do they already have the servers up? Also, I hate everyone of you who pirated the game without the intention of using it as a demo.
It's not like my internet freedoms aren't already being eroded and henpecked into oblivion. Might as well get insanely fast fiber internet for cheap.
But I live in Shreveport, Louisiana. So we won't get anything like that for years. Oh, and we're one of the test markets for Comcast's soft data caps that charge you when you go over 300 GBs. But don't worry! You can pay an extra 35 dollars a month to get what you used to get for 35 dollars cheaper: unlimited internet!
Why are we doing this? Because fuck you, and because we need to recoup the money we're losing from people who got so sick of our shit that they stopped paying for cable packages and chose to only use our internet.
I've been up since 2 AM I really don't need your shit right now.
It's there but it's shoehorned in.
The character you have the highest affinity with and talk to last before a certain scene gets taken by the Dragon and announced as your beloved. If you're not careful this could be the armor shop guy, a random townsperson, or fucking Fournival.
I'm playing as a young Louis
I made my pawn the young Lady in Black
I masturbate to /ss/ after every session
You can romance anyone in the game. My The End-inspired viking chick romanced the cute brown tomboy bar wench.
The "romance" is entirely just Grigori picking them as your loved one and two scenes after you beat the game, but yes, you can make every single NPC in the game your loved one.
I really like the gameplay, map design, enemies, world design (though characters seem to be walking cliches) but I don't particularly care about pawn mechanic itself and the game is completely buried under tons of menus and tutorials that you have to endure if you want to have a clear picture of what it's like to play it. By this I mean wanting to start as a warrior after fiddling with archery for a while.
Can I dismiss the pawn I had to design and go completely alone and how feasible is this on normal difficulty?
Oh and that encampment quest where you have to destroy dummies with magick - you have to find a magic item to enhance your weapons with, right? Couldn't to it with an archer in time because I had nothing to damage them with in inventory and my pawn is warrior.
I really hope someone makes a good UI/HUD mod, I fight with various prompts more than I fight with enemies, and if there was a way to skip the fucking tutorial section it would be dandy.
Is it Japanese "removed" where they were so fucking lazy the files are still in the game, or Japanese removed where they dummy out so much shit it starts to actually cause glitches?
How's this for a Mystic Knight build? I'm going for a good, balanced guy that I can actually play with during the main and post game.
Yes, I understand how it works. I didn't realize people were talking about the pre-generated pawns. I don't know why they'd even try to play with the absolute garbage randomised pawns.
>Can I dismiss the pawn I had to design and go completely alone and how feasible is this on normal difficulty?
You can "kill" your pawn (send them back to Pawn Limbo) by throwing them in the ocean then just never summoning them again. It'll be tough in the early game. In the late game there are builds that make it manageable.
>tried to make a shota
>just ended up with a manlet
should i just restart?
Don't worry about builds. Stats do not matter hardly at all because gear will do a lot more than your innate stats.
The game is fucking easy and unless you play a mage for 100 levels and then try to play warrior you will be fine with pretty much any stats.
>anon buys a game then refunds it just to make an ebin shitpost on a Vietnamese cartoon board for little girls
>spend more time looking for 2 spells that just about every mage has, why can't this game have a way to see these spells even tho its available in the game for slots 1 and 2
why are you a retard anon? genuinely curious
That's not what I said. Having an option to do it is never bad. It didn't take long to find a jaded aspie, I think I will never enter a 'general' thread about any game I dare to criticize a bit in this negative hugbox of a board. Happened with Underrail, happened with Darkest Dungeon, god forbid if the game has faults.
Thanks, I'm reading up from the /vg/ thread and the babysitting/training idea doesn't seem too appealing but I will endure.
No, though I did like how the cyclops battle went when my pawn stabbed him in the mouth while I gouged his eye with arrows.
I'll probably make a generic Guts character with pawn Schierke mage as a follower.
Yes, just go Mystic Knight, wield a sword and wear white coloured shit.
As mystic knight you may want to opt for more magick. Physical is nice, but since MK is all about buffs and the spells definitely outshine the physical abilities. But you know
play what you think will be fun.
Also BB weapons make damage stats irrelevant
The game is practically over once you hit 100, I'll still play MK for half of the game, and the important half.
The 100 to 200 levels are for NG+ when I'll spend my time farming the levels.
>found out pawns can bring items from other worlds
okay im really tempted to buy this game now even though im a poorfag.
how active you think the online will be?
don't want to throw 30shekels out and then find out no one uses the online component.
>about to turn foul
Wait, consumable stuff spoils in this game?
Or is that just flavor text?
How do I craft things?
Should I keep hiring new pawns? I noticed that only your main pawn levels up.
pirated installation would take forever to install fuck it i-ill just wait for Friday
fucking Crapcom why did you choose late January!
MK uses 1H swords or 1H maces. Maces are the biggest and stronges weapons besides greatswords and warhammer, which are both only usable by Warriors. Maces are MK only.
Shield is optional but it has half your skills on it.
>no 21:9 support when the original was letterboxed anyway
>>fullscreen doesn't even just letterbox it into 1920x1080
>It's pretty annoying having to play it with the background visible on windowed
damn, lets hope flawless widescreen will fix that
i started classes this week
anyway the week just feels way longer when something you really wana see is on A FUCKING FRIDAY
It becomes roughly as easy as normal mode in the end game, but the beginning of the game is hellish.
You get one shotted pretty frequently, so it encourages really strategic play.
Please tell me you can use spears in this game. Please.
She sorta reminds me of Kirsten Dunst for some reason.
The movement in this game feels so nice, too.
Ur Dragon online, a post game boss that gave the best equipment without the addon. It's still great to have them before going into the addon, and it will dragonforge at 100% chance all your equipment.
It has tons of health and requires a common effort to kill. If you're the one to kill it or kill it just after that, you get tons of shit, otherwise you still get nice stuff.
But you can fisticuffs. Just don't equip a weapon. There's even an item that doubles your unarmed damage.
>firing a thousand arrows per second with no physicality or fun involved
You CAN take your time aiming for that ideal shot, but there's no reason to when you can fire 10 as fast as you'd have aimed that one, and STILL hit that weakspot.
Of course, that's purely from a highest DPS perspective, and this is a single player game.
>spend 100's of hours in DD
>still learning new shit
So who's gonna be rushing to get to end game? I'm planning on just taking it slow and enjoying the game again, there's still so much I haven't seen.
Yes stuff does. Put items fresh into an aolirtight flask if you want it to not decay.
Also protip: once you find a healing spring(I think there's 2 in the game) put a port crystal at it. Then anytime you need healing items; you can just port there with a bunch of empy vials and fill them up with spring water for free healing items. Not to mention healing spring water when drank not only heals you, but everyone in your party. 10-15 vials of the stuff on everyone in your party and you can pretty much take anything out with no worry of losing hp.
I'd say that the advantage Souls games have over more fast paced stuff like DD is that they require bigger emphasis on positioning and due to how sluggish you are, less chance to get out of a tricky situation. In Dogma or even DMC (not going into combos and stuff right now) you can finish the game on medium difficulty without ever truly mastering dodges, just approximately using characters's speed. Not that either system is inherently superior to other.
You can't, weapon types are pretty limited. Daggers, Swords, Greatswords, Maces, Warhammers, Bows, Longbows, Magic bows, Staff and Archstaff. Shield and Magic Shield (really a tower shield) are all that's around
What I really mean is, is it like Dark Souls or Skyrim where you just keep firing random shots until the enemy suddenly dies despite being fine a few seconds ago, or will your shots cripple the enemy and have an impact the way melee combat and magic would?
Where the fuck do you live?
DD is definitely easier, but it's still a plenty challenging game on Hard.
You can always throw all your pawns off a cliff and play solo for the ULTIMATE THRILL too
Small enemies just die when they run out of HP.
Big enemies will have multiple points to target and cripple and will adapt as the battle goes on. Flying enemies can have their wings burnt off, enemies with multiple heads will adapt based on what heads are alive etc...
> Using mages
You only have yourself to blame OP. Healing items are cheap, more efficient, and let you bring a damage dealer in place of that shitty mage.
The sooner you realize Sorcs and Rangers are the only useful pawns, the better off you'll be.
>tfw late again
>added a simple script which allows you to use the Secret of Metamorphosis without finishing the game first.
Great for sharing sliders. There's also a speed/slow/stop time script, noclip, and more.

>If you wants to fuck with your own textures: http://residentevilmodding.boards.net/thread/481/arc-unpacker-repacker-v0-26 - this guy's unpacker works, use the PC-RE6 batch file, just edit in -tex flag on the batch file, drag and drop the relevant .arc file on the batch file, find your texture you want to fuck with (adding -tex makes the unpacker create a .dds file as well as the game's format: .tex), edit the .dds, and here's the important part: read the .txt file the unpacker generated for the texture file, make sure you're saving your .dds as the correct format : either DXT1 or DXT5, with alpha channel. Then when you've mucked around with all the textures, drag the folder onto that same batch file - this will create a new .arc that you can drop in your game files (back up your original).
>game gets announced for PC
>suddenly people realize the community will become half people spewing memes and half people complaining about bullshit
>instead of people who actually enjoy the game having nice threads about it

can we just make an oath to never port games to PC ever again
i don't care how much better the game would look or play on PC, the community, time and time again, has been proven to absolutely kill any threads involving them

also holy shit fuck these saurians
>Title screen music changer already out
It's alive on /vg/ but I can't post there atm.
>Everyone knows that the Stark family of GoTT fame started and ended in DD.
what the fuck were the jap thinking
The mimicry aspect of pawns isn't fully known. I don't know how much them mimicing you will compare with keeping their inclination as something that prioritizes picking off weaker enemies. Try and find out, I guess. Alternatively, don't give them daggers.
Also the second strongest physical weapon class, but they're noticeable slower. I didn't use them because they didn't fit my sense of aesthetics
>That leads to pretty messed up shit
Only if you based your pawn off of your old master that became the dragon that stole your heart so that the dragon and your pawn are basically the same person and you can't choose one or the other because you love both.
>no crafting system
You combine items to create all kinds of new items, and you can upgrade weapons with different kinds of materials at weapon shops.
You upgrade weapons with certain items, rank 1-3, then Dragonforge, which has a random chance of happening to a starred item when you kill a dragon.
Stat growth is automatic based on the class but you choose abilities and augments.
I'm a warrior with a ranger pawn and he seems to strike an even balance. He usually only uses the daggers in tight spaces most of the time.
Changing his inclinations to challenger/mitigator instead of scather helped
I've had Dark Arisen on PS3 for a while now, and I only played about an hour of it before getting distracted by other things. /v/'s convinced me to rebuy it on steam for framerate and graphics, I hope I don't regret it. What a waste of money the PS3 version was.
Pawns are said to have no will of their own, yet when they're in proximity of an Arisen they seem fully capable of making decisions and otherwise doing their own thing.
Does that mean they also have proper emotions when close to an Arisen? Because they sure seem to.
