Playing pic related for the first time, about six hours in. Just rescued
that insufferable Jedi cuntBastilia and about to head over to the Cantina. Any general tips for a newcomer?
Also KOTOR thread I guess.
Put points into flurry, and then master speed and stasis field when you finally unlock that stuff. You'll basically win the game because you can hit shit like 4-5 times(5-6 if you have a double bladed weapon or two in each hand).
Game is fun. Manaan best world. Highly recommend playing KotOR 2 right afterwards.
I did hear something about not leveling too much until you get off Taris (Which, while we're on that happens FUCKING WHEN?) so I've not exactly excessivly grinded or anything, but I've reached level 6. Did I fuck up?
Good to know. Does being in the middle fuck with you gameplay-wise, story-wise, or both?
Also, while I was running around the lower city Mission and my wookie slave started to banter about grooming and stuff. Many keks were had, and I'd like more of those bantering sessions. Do those sort of things randomly trigger with all party members?
Nah. Don't go above 8 and you'll be fine.
If you already got Bastila you haven't much taris left, the ideal is to not level as much as you can because this is not much of a spoiler but
you get to be a Jedi later and your levels are shared
Is this on increased difficulty or some shit? Cause on normal mode I didn't go jedi til level 8 and I blew Malak the fuck out.
the banter between your party members tends to be random with any of your characters. there isn't a specific predictor over when the banter will occur or not, though I will say some characters engage it more than others
also yeah don't level up too much on taris. you want to save a good majority of those levels for reasons. as a jedi, you'll gain powers based on level ups so the more you reserve those the more powers you can get. force pursuasion and domination are great cause they give you fairly strong and fun dialogue choices if you're lacking on inherent pursuasion, as well as being able to do Jedi mind tricks is sick as hell.
>Playing KOTOR 2
>Restoration mod installed
>At one point a cutscene triggers on the Ebon Hawk
>T3 is rolling around the main area
>Kreia walks in and fucking fries him with force lightning
>No explanation is ever given, neither one of them says shit when I talk to them
Don't treat the entire game as a single story. Treat each planet as its own story with a broader overarching plot. Kinda like watching a bunch of movies in a series. Enjoy each movie individually instead of trying to marathon through all of them. Every planet has its own self-enclosed plotlines and it's better to experience them for what they are instead of rushing through because you're more concerned about what will happen later. It's a fairly long game and you'll get bored quickly if you do that.
It's generally recommended you go to Tatooine and Kashyyk first because you get your last party members there. It's also recommended you do Korriban last for plot reasons but it's not required. Going to Manaan after Kashyyk will unlock a rather lengthy sidequest. Rotate your party members frequently instead of using the same ones, and talk to your party often.
The game opens with the player's character—the player can choose a face and be male or female (canonically a male)—awakening aboard the Republic ship, Endar Spire, which is under attack by Malak's forces. The player's character gradually gathers companions and pieces together their past while attempting to stop Malak. While taking refuge at the Jedi Academy on Dantooine, the player's character learns to be a Jedi, discovers a "Star Map", and learns of the "Star Forge", the probable source of Malak's military resources. The player's character and their companions search planets across the galaxy—Dantooine, Manaan, Tatooine, Kashyyyk, and Korriban—for more information about the Star Forge. Through the course of their travels, the player will eventually discover their character's true identity - the brainwashed Darth Revan, whom the Jedi Council on Dantooine took in and subjected to memory modification so that he would no longer be a threat to the galaxy. Darth Revan had been injured when attacking a Republic planet because Darth Malak turned his guns on his former master. Because Bastila Shan was aboard Revan's ship with a Jedi strike force, she was able to heal him and bring him to the Jedi Council on Dantooine. Her actions lead to the force bond between her and Revan, which plays a role later in the game.
still would be a big ass wall of text, it's just there incase you get curious. this is kotor general thread I thought? anyone who doesn't know the story and doesn't want to play old game can now take a minute and get great story fast
OP here, somebody clue me into what the restoration mod for KOTOR 2 is? I hear it restores a bunch of cut content to the base game. Is it worth it? I'm guessing that it's like half-finished stuff left in the code that somebody modded back in, but how half-assed is the content itself? NPCs with half-voiced lines, missing textures, bunch of fetch quests? It just seems weird to me that there would be a significant amount of worthwhile content that the devs had basically finished but never bothered using.
Nobody told me there were waifus. Pleasant surprise. Can I romance more than one lr do I need to make my pick and stick with it?
Bastilla and Carth are your only options and they're based on your gender. No, you can't romance the qt Twi'lek or the catgirl.
The reason why the restored content mod for KOTOR 2 is so significant is because the development for that game was severely rushed. LucasArts basically told Obsidian to have it out by Christmas, which means a ton of actual storyline content got cut. It's not like KOTOR 1 where it's a finished game and the only cut content is because the devs thought it was shit or LucasArts wouldn't allow it (lesbian romance option). In most cased, the restored content in 2 is stuff that was fully workable content, fully voice-acted and animated, just shelved because they didn't have time to polish it.
>LucasArts wouldn't allow it (lesbian romance option)
>That romantic tension between you and Atris
>She went nuts because you wouldn't give her the D
>Blowing her the fuck out when you meet her for the first time on Telos
This pleases Jedi Jesus
Neat, I'll grab the restoration mod when I get to 2. Is it compatible with the Steam version?
The Steam Version has Workshop support and RCM is the top thing on the Workshop.
Steam version also has numerous improvements over the original release, like better resolution support (up to 4k), the ability to disable force speed effects, and more.
Make sure to still save often though. The game has an unfixable bug that sometimes causes dialogue to all be skipped at lightspeed if you've been playing for a while. It's something wrong the engine itself. Just save really really often and reload if it happens.
>you will never sling dick so well that you turn a bitch to the dark side
The mod on the workshop by itself works fine, but don't download anything else because installing many mods from the workshop can make your game crash last time I tried it. Also you really don't need anything else for your first run
>No explanation is ever given, neither one of them says shit when I talk to them
Are you serious?
You literally have to have a conversation with T3 about his previous master, unlock it with influence of course, and what happened and where he went.
Hence, Kreia's reaction to that is that she thinks T3 betrayed Revan.
It happens to me from time to time.
The most annoying is the top the bottom border bug which is fullscreen and reduces to what it normally should be VERY VERY slowly, making the first text unreadable but is immediately fixed at the second text.
No clue if anyone has had this issue.
actually you still can slightly romance Juhani
also they managed to sneak some lesbian shit in it, if you killed Juhani in Dantooine instead of recruiting her, her lesbian jedi friend in Dantooine will join up the Sith in Korriban
I love the Jedi Council's response if you kill her
>why did you kill her?!!!
>uh, well, she gave me no choice. Y-yeah.
>okay, fine whatever, here's your lightsaber, you're a padwan now, fuck off
It's insane. They let someone have complete control over another person's life and don't hold you accountable because of their vagueness. Oh just go over to this location and you'll do 'something'. That something being killing that stupid Sith girl who just lashed out at her master for being randomly angry.
Its an easy game, he doesnt need to min/max.
I always finished Taris at 8 as a soldier and my fight against Malak at the end was literally pressing the attack button and letting my auto-attack kill him.
Just dont put points into worthless shit like
>They let someone have complete control over another person's life and don't hold you accountable because of their vaguenes
sounds like a Jedi council, all right
The former Dark Lord of the Sithstanding before them, covered in blood, breathing heavily and with obvious sexual arousal at his actions
>Already since beginning his journey he's killed dozens if not hundreds of people, slaughtered countless innocent civilians, caused an outright civil war on Dantooine right outside the Enclave, outright jumped at the chance to murder a fallen Padawan, and ruined a dance audition on purpose
>Now, Apprentice, do you vow to uphold the Jedi Code and protect the innocent of the galaxy from the destruction brought by the Sith
>[Lie] Yes, I swear.
Honestly they've had better judgement calls. I know it's because of Bioware plot railroading, but it really hurts the Jedi Masters' competence when they act so incredibly trusting towards the person who at that point is probably the biggest cunt in the whole galaxy.
there's a difference between "not allowing" and just simply not including it since romances doesn't matter.
romances in rpg's was the worst idea ever and whoever was behind it, should get bitchslapped, hard.
It's painfully obvious if you actually pay attention to the dialogue. Or did you think the game just kept mentioning some nobody jedi for no reason over and over again?
Man, you don't understand. I ran in fucking circles around her. The poor girl didn't stand a chance of making her dream. I had to go commit a couple of atrocities after that - assassinating Gadon, working as a hitman for Davik, selling the Promised Land books to Rukil for pennies - just to take the edge off and make me feel a bit less evil.
If it were true, why wouldn't it have been revealed at the end as an ESB-esque grand reveal intended to shock? Or at least shock people in the same subtle way as when she referred to Mandalore as Canderous?
Because it's a neat little reward the player can pick up if he actually analyzes what is said to him instead of clicking past all the talky bits. Besides, what would exactly be the impact? It's just a simple name, nothing more.
Perhaps you were expecting some surprise, for me to reveal a secret that had eluded you, something that would change your perspective of events, shatter you to your core. There is no great revelation, no great secret. There is only you.
>You will do what you are told because I am your mother, got it?
But honestly, if you play with the Restored content, the twist that Kreia hates the Force itself, bringing balance like Jolee says in Kotor 1, is a good ending twist in of itself.
Kreia is fucking retarded.
>hurr I got raped
>the force is EEEEEVIL
>don't fall for them jedi mind tricks
>look at me being a sith and using the force to prove my point
Just fucking stop using it and go live on a shitty planet.
>hurr I got raped
>implying implication of indignities
I still personally think that Sion taking Kreia by the face and slamming her head was too brutal and too realistic for Star Wars.
No, she wants you to get strong and then use you to wreck the force. And she has no fucking issues with you going full jedi/sith to gain that strength.
It's not good writing. She'll admonish you for absolutely everything, no matter how neutral you stay.
Does Dxun/Onderon become more interesting as I go on?
I just finished Nar Shaddaa, which was kind of tedious to be honest. Just made it to the Mandalorian Camp, and I'm already getting a similar vibe here.
Help get Kotor 2 on iOS for travel fags
To be fair Exile being a woman makes Sion's stuff a little bit more tangible and interesting.
A Sith not understanding romantic feelings and admiration for someone is more interesting than 'Oooh, I'm coming to gitchu faggit' which you get for male Exiles.
Also feXile convincing him to let himself die made more sense because of that.
You do miss out on Atris's sweaty palms though.
if you installed mod from places other than workshop it may cause crashes, because workshop doesnt install into root meny -> override, but rather an own folder that can be tricky to locate, especially if you didn't know about it
She doesn't think t3 betrayed revan, she thought revan betrayed her with his love for machines. She hates droids because she can't read/manipulate them, and she hates t3 because Revan cherised him. Kreia is a jealous cunt, and hates when there are factors she can't control. Kreia: His love for such things defy me" when talking about droids.
i was actually thinking of civilans as common folk and soldiers as soldiers.
anyways, i don't think any planet, including manaan, showed both sides of war. it's been a long time since i played kotor but manaan was mostly just the trial, greed for kolto and petty bickering between sith/republic soldiers.
Came here to ask about KOTOR 2 and the restored content mod.
I quite enjoyed KOTOR back in the day, is 2 worth getting and is the restored content mod actually decent or is it a case of 'there's a reason devs cut this shit' and it's implemented in a very amateurish way?
2 is a completely different beast from 1, and much better written. The RCM is not just decent, it fully rounds off the game. KOTOR 2 had a hideous amount of cut content, and most of it was cut because they were rushed and couldn't finish everything, not because it was bad. There's one exception - the Droid Planet, which is legitimately 'there's a reason devs cut this shit' but the people who made the RCM helpfully put that part in a different install, so it's optional whether you want to suffer through it or not.
Awesome, thanks for the quick response. How much cut content are we talking about here? Like, 20% more game length? Does it increase level caps if there is one (guessing cap is 20 like first game)
The cap is like 50 in vanilla KotOR 2 so the mod had no reason to fiddle with it as I believe you can't even get enough XP in the whole game to reach the level cap.
It adds a lot of dialogue, finishes
HK-47'sstory and makes the ending more coherent.
Even in the original KOTOR 2, the level cap is 50 - but that's so high you'll never reasonably reach it unless you use the EXP glitch.
How much cut content? About this much.
tl;dr multiple plot points including endings for each character, tons of dialogue, almost the ENTIRE last planet and ending, the list goes on.
Really makes you sad to realise that companies ultimately care more about the bottom line than making the best game they can. I suppose it's always going to be a compromise of time/content but this is just nuts. Glad to hear that the RCM is able to get the game close to what it should have been.
Meh, it's like when you were a kid and you had this really really great idea for a project, spend so much time on it and it wasn't enough and only got a C- because you ran out of time.
A for effort doesn't mean much.
Except that the kid in this scenario could say 'fuck you teacher, you'll get the project when it's done nigger'.
Maybe he gets a detention, but that teacher is going to remember that project as the best fucking project they've ever seen from a student.
Even 60 years later, when the teacher is incontinent in a care home and even the student has retired, they'll think 'shit, that project was fucking dope. Anyway, I hope this bell still works because I just done soiled my pants'
>'fuck you teacher, you'll get the project when it's done nigger'
Then you get an F or ask for an extension, but then you have asshole teachers who refuse to give extensions and you're fucked.
> How much cut content are we talking about here? Like, 20% more game length?
it's not about the lenght of the game but about understanding what's happening. Most of the cut content were cutscenes and conversations with characters explaining the whole plot of the game and how it was connected to the previous game (and it's characters).
Withouth the RCM the game suddently just ends and you don't know what the fuck happent. With the RCM you understand the whole travel and how it is related to what Revan did before and after KOTOR1.
When you say you didn't level higher than 2, do you mean you didn't click 'level up', but were still able to kill stuff for XP that you kind of keep in a bank for when you go jedi, so you can level straight to 9 or whatever?
Yeah, I didn't click level up after 2 (it was required from what remember, but I may be wrong, it was years ago). It made Taris harder towards the end, but the rest was easy.
Fucked up? No, not really. As in >>323565656
>For the first playthrough I levelled up normally. No problem there, it's piss easy.
It's harder when starting Jedi on 8+, but not so much.
Its more for characters you dont care about or understand.
For example, I dont enjoy magic in games. So in DAO, I generally used the Auto-level for mages because I dont enjoy magic so I never looked into it.
In KotoR I used it to level T3 and Mission and thats it. Everyone else I would level personally to make sure I pick actually useful talents.
You just have to see what the auto level did to your character and play having it on mind.
This. I use it for characters that I know the game will min/max better than I like the droids or canderous (usually the "blaster" users). With the jedi it's more tricky as you probably want to compensate your characters and the game will choose the same fucking force powers for each one.
Because they have your character by yourself, which makes the fights extremely hard if you're not leveling. The first few might be doable with sufficient item usage, but there's really no point doing them.
It's not very difficult to beat the arena (Bendak included) even at level 2 Scoundrel/Consular build (aka shit tier). Grenades are your friends. Sonic grenades for debuffs, conc grenades for stuns, plasma grenades for damage. Add on to that the huge amount of medpacs/energy shields the game shits all over you during Taris, and the numerous ways to abuse the AI with mines, and you've got a recipe to coast right through if you buy enough items.
can you post what attributes your char has? i think you fucked up dude, specially if you choose consular jedi, i wouldn't recommend that in this play anymore, go guardian, they need less force points and powers. Hope you picked the soldier rol that is.
L2 scoundrel/scout will get gunned the fuck down by bendak, unless you never use consumables during an action round and have an advanced knowledge of dodging/the system. Frankly, I'm not sure how a L2 player could hope to beat or even hit marv or ice.
>tfw no kotor 3 made by obsidian
>tfw there's no chance ea would let them make one
>tfw ea gives bioware kotor 3
Life is suffering.
Pop energy shields in the moment you get at the start of the fight before you pull aggro. Always go into the menu to heal, never use up one of your combat actions for it. Just by using the menu you make it almost impossible for anyone to kill you, since they have to one-shot you. And if you can't die, that simply means that you can throw grenades until you win. Bendak goes down hard to plasma grenades, especially if you can sneak a conc grenade past his saves first (quite hard, but you can savescum for it if that's your thing). I mean yeah sure, if you went for a straight shootout you wouldn't stand a chance. But this is really the only fight in the game (arguably Gadon and his bodyguard count too, since you're in that tiny ass room) where the grenades are necessary, so you might as well blow your load on him.
More for HK-47 than anything. Two Bendak's Blasters plus his upgrades turn him into a murder hurricane that kills most things on the first shot before they even catch aggro and turn to face him.
SWTOR: Knights of the Fallen Empire is surprisingly good for a Bioware game. It even has the classic KOTOR conversations during the "forge alliances" part.
>mfw Jek Jek Tar and Trayus as a minmaxed Guardian/Weapon Master
>mfw enlightenment + Juyo + Power Attack/Critical Strike
I think I actually like the first kotor more. Kotor 2 is so frustrating with shit like having to find pieces of HK47, the wookie vs Mira, Handmaiden vs the guy, it's like I'm missing out on content.
>tfw these threads reminded me how much I liked Kotor
>tfw my old man was looking for new RPGs to play on his old laptop/iPad
>tfw want to talk about games with him but avoiding spoilers is like tapdancing through a minefield
"EVERYTHING IS SIGNIFICANT BUT I CAN'T TELL YOU WHY"
pretty sure we all like kotor 1 more than 2. I just all the story and all the characters, except mission, but you can force choke her to death or make the wookie strangle her, so its ok.
Just finished the first game, and I was incredibly disappointed with it.
Most of the characters did absolutely nothing for me, the writing was pretty awful too.
Does Bioware not know how to do shades of grey regarding alignment?
It seems like every encounter where the game gives you a choice between good or bad you are forced to choose either one of two extremes. goody two shoes, or evil for no reason. This became especially annoying near the end game where it was at its worst.
I am seriously hoping Kotor2 will do at least a bit better in this regard.
>Does Bioware not know how to do shades of grey regarding alignment?
>It seems like every encounter where the game gives you a choice between good or bad you are forced to choose either one of two extremes. goody two shoes, or evil for no reason. This became especially annoying near the end game where it was at its worst.
Apathy is death
>I am seriously hoping Kotor2 will do at least a bit better in this regard.
Oh dude you are in for a ride.
>Land in Nar Shadda
>1st fucking cutscene
>Help the dude
>Kreia: "You are an idiot"
>Don't help the dude
>Kreia: "You sadistic bastard"
Even Sheev knew a time and a place to be devilish, and Vader clearly cared about his Son, despite being evil.
The worst offender is the dark side path on Rakata. There was no option to spare your friends because of your priory affection, try talking them round, or even regretfully killing them, you just provoke them in cartoonishly evil ways and kill them for the lulz when they inevitably reject you.
It happens after you get enough influence with T3 and see the Carth/Bastilla message about Revan. T3 will then tell you his former master was Revan and where he went.
Kreia, who was trying to keep that hidden from you and is a bit of a control freak in regards to what information she wants you to know and when, gets pissed and lashes out at T3 over it. Her bitching about Revan and droids is just Kreia being a salty cunt.
Could not even finish the first game because of it.
Got to Bastilla and was given the choice to either murder my entire crew, or talk about how great the light is and how I cant stop sucking Jedi Dick.
I get that every other character in the game is a retard, but I would have hoped at least the PC could be reasonable.
My worst fears have been realized. although it is clear to me, after only 2 hours or so, that Kreia is a cunt.
This was what disappointed me the most, and left a sour taste after what was mostly a good game.
>"Senoir~ I have been robbed blind by the evil of this city. Could you find it ein your heart to spare a few credits to help me eat for the night?"
"Sure. I think I have som-"
>>"Don't give him those credits. Credits not earned through honest work and labor will only bring about more misfortune. Sometimes a charity can hurt just as much as a sin"
>You look at Kreia's "Can't stump the Trump" t-shirt over her robes
>"Please ma'am, I-"
>>"Go back to your drug planet Jose!"
>>"He's going to make the Republic great again!"
Am I the only one who thinks Kreia would be a Trump voter?
Stop crying about grey options, its an incredible game, one of the best of his time. You are given more choice than just good or bad except in the end of the game. Thats 2 endings, one more than most games, stop complaining so much really. besides a neutral ending would had suck.
Why should I refuse to acknowledge something that I think was done poorly? I'm sorry if discussion triggers you but criticism is natural for any game and should not be dismissed just because people think that having a negative opinion is evil
The whole point of KOTOR2 is that you can be a sith withouth being a sadistic edgelord bastard and can be a jedi withouth being fucking retarded. She only wants you to choose your actions thinking on the consequences of them. Don't kill because "lol", don't help with no reason. Everything you do must have a "why" behind it.
The best mods for KOTOR 1 are any graphical updates, along with the one that restores the Juhani romance if you're into that. The rest of the cut content in 1 was cut because it sucked, not because they had to rush the game's release.
The widescreen mod can be really finicky.
Also you just finalized One play through of an old game that i have finished about 20 times, don't give me lectures with your unfounded comments about a game you have barely played.
It's more that in kotor 1, your dialogue options are relegated to sucking Jedi dick and masturbating over how great the light is, or being Snidley Whiplash and cackling as you murder innocents.
In kotor 2, even when you were railroaded into being dark or light in some convos, you could at least go about it in different ways. You could be dark side just in the sense that you wanted revenge on the Jedi who exiled you, without being cartoonishly evil. Likewise you could play a light side character who acknowledged the Jedi are cunts and they were wrong about the Mandalorian Wars. Or you could be a psychopath/fill your mouth with Jedi cock if you wanted to. The point was you had more options in how to RP your character's morality.
>don't give me lectures with your unfounded comments about a game you have barely played.
Dude what? I have the KOTOR2 box for PC since it was released. i played this game at least once every year.
>every 2 or 3 years i replay kotor as light side
>during each playthrough i tell myself im going to replay it immediately as dark side to see other side of coin
>never do because don't want to kill my vidya friends for no reason on Rakata
Why couldn't you dump mission and the others on a planet somewhere first and have a comfy guilt free sith empire?
At least the dark side path in K1 makes sense, and it's satisfying to fuck over the Jedis' plan.
The dark side path in K2 makes no sense, because the backstory is that the Exile is special for being the only Jedi who followed Revan and didn't turn DS. So dark side path's "lol jk, actually evil" is dumb as hell.
Even when I first played KOTOR I was pissed off that you couldn't just turn your companions to the Dark Side. Okay, maybe not Carth, but the rest should have been doable.
At least KOTOR 2 allowed me to do exactly that.
You think this is a pain?
>Every year I replay the Mass Effect trilogy
>During each playthrought i tell myself "I'm going to do everything diferent"
>After 6 playthroughts:
>Still can't kill Wrex on ME1
>Still can't shoot Mordin on ME3
>Still can't fuck up Tali's trial on ME2
>Still can't kill Legion on ME3
>Still can't let Samara get heroe'd by herself
>Still can't choose the green ending because it fucking sucks
My fucking vidya friends...I just can't.
Reminder that Newfag Bastila causes this
she just blatantly says they're dark side now with the grace of an avalanche. If you had been able to tell her to shut the fuck up, you could subtly change everything abut your followers.
I am only still 2 hours into Kotor2 and the things in your post are what I would have liked to see in the first game.
trying to shut down discussion in such a way just makes you seem like a fanboy. you are right in a way, you are indeed given some "grey" options, but for all the choices that matter you are completely stripped of any sort of nuanced choice. To me, this is a huge flaw in an otherwise decent game, why would I not complain about it?
And saying it has one more ending than most games does not excuse anything. I judge this game on its own, not by comparing it to others.
this post just confirms that you are not interested in any serious discussion. My comments, nor those of the person you responded to here, are not unfounded. We played the game. We formed an opinion. What more do we need to do to come up with "founded" comments? play it 20 times just like you? this game is not so big or deep or complicated that it needs multiple playthroughs to see it for what it is.
T3-M4 (2nd Game)
T3-M4 (1st Game)
We're all on board, right?
I actually update this list based on you guy's bullshit sometimes
Yeah six is like standard for a first playthrough if you do everything and you do fine as a jedi unless you put feats into blasters or melee. You can probably do fine then but want to restart.
>look at me, I'm a wookie, everyone likes wookies, i'm shmewbacca, the copyright friendly wookie, wookie wookie wookie.
Literally no interesting traits beyond being a big hair ball of whiney bullcrap
>He actually has a pretty fantastic backstory & character.
No. He just has a backstory but it's shit.
I'm a fucking droid, they gave me an order and I will accomplish this order at all cost. It's the same as the AI at the end of Mass Effect but withouth reapers to fullfill its objectives.
This is what everyone's character looked like mid game.
>kotor 1: everyone plays slickback hair face, noone plays female for the sweet bastila cooz
>kotor 2: everyone plays as jedi jesus or blonde floozy with full lips
Dont try to deny it
>droid, so items are garbage
>stealth based, which isn't necessary ever
>anti droid powers, but you only get him after Peragus and Nar Shadaa, which means you already beat 90% of the droid fights in the game
He's a cool character, but a waste of space on your ship. Would have been better to leave him on Nar Shadaa as an NPC, if all he has to offer is backstory.
This. People who are monsters still have family and friends. Not everyone who does morally reprehensible things is out to kill everyone. Shit, maybe the PC's motivation is to use the star forge to unite all the worlds or something? I dunno
I played KOTOR at least 10 times and always chose top right. He also has the best dark side changes.
I'm not, When I first played I choose slick back hair because it looks the smoothest to me. and I play as Jedi Jesus because the first Kotr practically makes you go out of your way to kick a puppy if you want to be dark side and I'm a filthy moral fag. plus it's canon
I play like a normie and I'm proud
All you need to steamroll this game is a pure melee focused build with the flurry skill maxed out.
Don't listen to anyone telling you about how you shouldn't level up before you become a jedi - that shit doesn't matter at all.
Can be played but if you just buy the game with the 30 free days (like 5-6 bucks last time I checked G2P) you will get all the expansions and most of the features the pure F2Players lack.
The problem is that it's just badly done in 1.
Consider the dark siders in the films, hell even the prequels
>Sheev biding his time, pretending to be good, while manipulating things behind the scenes and corrupting his future protogee
Sheev as a PC
>Sheev wanders into the Temple/Senate, casually murders everything, then tells Anakin to quit bitching and join up
>Vader killing incompetent officers as an example and outlet
Vader as a PC
>Vader kills any officer that happens to sneeze too loudly
murders Hanto try solidifying his resolve
Kylo as a PC
>Kylo repeatedly sets fire to a random orphanages to try solidifying his resolve
Bao-Dur (wish he had more content)
G0-T0 (wish he wasn't shit at fighting)
T3-M4 (KOTOR II)
T3-M4 (KOTOR I, seriously was this even a character?)
>Dead on Dantooine Tier
>Handmaiden for Females Tier
Dark Side Exile can make perfect sense.
Finding out the Jedi dicked them over due to their own ignorance and fear would tick off anyone off, especially due to how hypocritical it is coming from people supposed to be above letting fear dictate their actions.
>not playing as this suave fucker and going 80% darkside
I marathon these games once a year.
Does anyone else feel like they can't into darkside anymore? I used to have no problem with it when I was younger. The dialogue options for dark side are so edgelord tier I just get so burnt out on it. First game moreso than the second. I think I've gone full lightside the past 5 times.
I wrote a pretty lengthy review on filefront about it but it's down.
Basically: The first mod is excellent and you should play it. (The Brotherhood of Shadow)
It has a cool little story and decent characters for a mod. Plus you can get some pretty sick robes from it. I do the mission every time.
Don't fucking download Solomon's revenge. You'll want to shoot yourself after the first 3 hours of endless dialogue. They did a good job with textures and new areas but the entire concept is like 6th grade english class writing.
Im genuinely curious if asian players chose asian faces, black players chose black faces, hispanic players chose hispanic faces and if white players chose white faces? As a white male i rarely go anything but white male. Looking for ethnic friends input.
no /pol/ pls
That would have been a great direction
>happy go lucky kid that's hopelessly naive despite her street smarts
>sees her planet destroyed for practically no reason
>has deep rooted resentment to the girl she thinks stole her brother away
>finds out her brother and idol was a worthless lying sack of shit that didn't care about her in the slightest
>best friend follows you everywhere
>you become her new idol after Grif's fallen pedestal
>despite being evil, you're still taking care of her and getting shit done
>start talking to her, and slowly point out all the shit she's had to overcome that she never realised
>feed her resentment towards her brother/whatsherfacet/theuglyone
>convince her that she has to rely on you and point out that she can't rely on Zaalbar after all the other people that abandoned her
>when you turn, convert her by manipulating her feelings on one or more of the above
>NTR bastila 4 years later
>>convince her that she has to rely on you and point out that she can't rely on Zaalbar after all the other people that abandoned her
Which would lead to a neat scene in the end when Zaalbar tries to stop you and her from the dark side, reinforcing her fear that he will abandon her and that she can't trust him.
Are you fucking serious. Is it that fucking hard to find a goddamn lp. It's like people think Let's Play isn't old as fuck.
Here you go. I still love you.
The recipe for a good thread on /v/ is for it to be well enough known for a large amount of people to have played it, varied enough for there to be something to discuss (be it in characters, builds, plot, etc), for it to have never been actively hyped, for people to commonly point out and accept flaws and for it to have something commonly agreed to be crushingly disappointing as a follow up.
Old Bioware threads are great examples
I have been thinking about this for a while now and i want to ask you guys if there was a kotor movie who would play revan and how would it break up? I think a trilogy with first movie being endar spine+taris+dantooine, second movie tatooine+kasyyhk+manaan and third movie leviathan+korriban+star forge and malak fight would be pretty good.
In order for it to accurately portray the game, it would need to be split into 7 movies. You could cut it down into a trilogy, but it would require cutting down a lot of plot.
Don't do it man, Mission's the worst grill by far
It's more a sense of plot progression. Each world has its own main questline under the context of the broader overarching plot. If you get rid of those then the overarching plotline of "find the Star Maps" becomes very short and disjointed. If you don't, you basically need to structure each movie to center around a single planet. If you pare it down to a trilogy, then the middle movie needs to center around two planets maximum with the rest of the Star Maps being found off-screen, otherwise the movie makes no sense.
Well, I sure as shit ain't writing Juhani into this mix and there's no one else available.
>tfw Bastilla waiting for Revan to come back
>he just hangs out in the Outer Rim territories and keeps getting Mission preggers
>no actual enemy exists beyond the known galaxy, Revan just uses that to get away from Bastilla
It's easier to just ignore the alignment bar and rp the char as you sketched out in your head. You lose +3 stat but it's not worth it, especially considering some of the dumb choices.
She actually loves you, should have had the option of dicking her before she fucks off so she won't turn to the dark side.
Mission, Zaalbar, Juhani and Jolee were intentionally not mentioned besides rare namedrops (Bindo's Robe, Mission's Armband) because they could be killed off in 1.
Carth and Bastilla appear depending on whether you set Revan as male/female and light/dark.
Canderous, HK and T3 all rejoin as party members.
Either "Revan helped save the Republic" or "Revan returned to lead the Sith" when you talk to Atton.
>killed by the Handmaiden in a SPARRING match
How low was your Constitution?
This guy has 10hp and didn't take the feat to double hitpoints.
Dueling makes you more tanky. Each individual attack is more accurate. Even a fully feated two-weapon build with a balanced off-hand weapon doesn't eliminate the accuracy penalties completely; you'll always have at minimum a 10% accuracy penalty on your main hand.
Some classes yes, some no. Bounty Hunter and Agent both are fine solo. Inquisitor is pretty meh. If you thought KOTOR dark side was edge lord, ohhohoho boy you've not seen anything yet.
Not him but have you ever actually played a consular?
Handmaiden has echani combat feats on top of the first couple tiers of unarmed feats. Your average consular has 8 strength and no attack feats at all. If you don't just leave her parked on the ship and level her, she's the one with the advantage.
I killed her my first time after trying my hardest to save her. I felt kinda bad when her lez lover started spazing out since I was playing a light sided guy.
I didn't even know she was a potential companion until later on since I read as little as possible about the game in order to be surprised.
That's because you don't use her much. It's easy if you leave her underleveled and strip her off all items, but otherwise she'll mop the floor with you.
Best approach really is to transfer all her equipment to yourself and equip those damage resistance belts if you have them. Unarmed fighting gloves too. I mean, sure, it's doable, but it's far more of a pain on consular since you actually have to prepare.
I have the exact opposite experience. The wisdom boost turns the later fights into a cakewalk. Your naked AC starts outpacing Handmaiden's quickly and she can barely touch you.
When I first played KOTOR ages ago, I never noticed just how SJW-infested Bioware was back then. Now when I'm replaying, its fucking everywhere.
They won't even give me a legit option to agree with the racist guy on Taris. Its all, "yeah okay you're crazy". Fuck I wanted to do quests for that guy.
>level up throughout taris
>use kse to change your jedi level to equal the amount you leveled up on Taris
>use kse to give yourself the same powers you'd have gotten anyway
>canon female Meetra Surik jedi exile
>Disney states that anything outside of the prequels and the original movies is no longer canon
Sounds to me like the kotor canon doesn't matter anymore m80
>Disney also stated that old canon will be slowly be reintroduced
>there are already blatant references to Old Republic canon on Kylo Ren's lightsaber
looks like it's going to, my pirate friend
In the clone wars series (canon) Yoda, looking to learn how to become a force ghost like his buddy qui gon travels to the home planet of the sith "Moraband" where there is a valle of the dark lords and it looks very much korriban.
Oh and also he speaks with the ghost of Darth Bane who is a dark samurai.
Well, in Star Wars, xenophobia resonates poorly -- the racial politics fall to the wayside in favor of idealistic conflict. At least in Mass Effect you could be a thorough xenophobe, and the reasoning there was much more concrete, given the political conflicts were racially based.
But you actually can say to the old xenophone "We should kill them all!" but it doesn't lead to anything. Doesn't actually stop you from roleplaying a dude who mostly only kills aliens; you can slaughter Manaan's wildlife and tons of Selkath.
why did they have to cancel TCW
The clone episodes were real fuckin good, and the next season before it was canned was supposed to be full of KOTOR fuckery
Instead we got rebels which is shit and the darkest thing they have done is that the little wookie kid in the first episode almost died
Lucas said it. And I'm not joking. It's Korriban but with another name
>''At the start of story development, the Sith world was called Korriban, but George Lucas preferred to change its name to Moraband. A world so ancient could have been known by different names in different eras'' Officially stated
>Moraband was heavily based on the Star Wars Legends world Korriban, which first appeared in the 1994 comic book Tales of the Jedi: Dark Lords of the Sith 2: The Quest for the Sith. During the production of "Sacrifice," The Clone Wars team initially called the planet Korriban, but George Lucas preferred the name Moraband. The name was changed to reflect his wishes, but Lucasfilm noted upon release of the episode that a planet as ancient as Moraband could have had several different names throughout its existence.
also playing for the first time, just got to tattoine. Game is boring as fuck and didn't age well at all. This coming from a 27 year old. This game was good when it came out, but it's not worth playing now if you didn't play before. Dull environments, story, the combat has no strategy whatsoever
>A world so ancient could have been known by different names in different eras
Aside from Lucas changing things for no reason because he's autistic, I don't see the problem. Hell even in real life different places have been known by different names within one person's lifetime. Ask someone what the name of Russia's second-largest city is, for example, or the name of the country in between Thailand and Bangladesh.
not baiting at all, all the points I made stand. It's ok to love this game just like people love FF7 and such but there's absolutely no reason to play this now if you never did.
>It's ok to love this game just like people love FF7 and such but there's absolutely no reason to play this now if you never did
Look, I know daddy never loved you, but that doesn't make it okay to try and convince people their love for something truly great is as hollow as your ad's presence in your life.
>decide to cheat like on Taris or something ( faggot 13 year old then)
>level up to max
>game doesnt make me a jedi on cause i can never level up
>finished 3 fucking planets with a vibroblade and no fucking jedi powers before I realised something was wrong
That was the last time I cheated in single player games.
I've had the game installed for about 5 years now, and I can definitely see a difference between a freshly installed game and my version.
The lightsabers, they just look like crap. The light reflection is terrible, the aliasing...well don't get me started. Some of the FMVs have degraded down to 32 or even 16kbps. Fresh installs from the same period still look great, even if they weren't stored correctly, in a cool, dry place. Seriously, stick to new installs, you may not be able to see the difference now, but in a year or two, you'll be glad you did.
>I can only play new things with modern graphics
>nobody is allowed to enjoy things that aren't new with modern graphics. I won't allow it
Fuck right off. The graphical style for KotoR 1 and 2 have aged incredibly well. Go shitpost somewhere else.
They're just stat boosters that you can remove and shift around to give your lightsabers all kinds of combinations of effects and there are even a couple of color crystals that alter the affects of the power crystals.
it's not even the graphics dumb shit, of course I'm not expecting modern graphics on a 2003 game, it's the boring and dull gameplay, zero fucking strategy in battles. Final fantasy 13 came out a couple of years after and people hated the auto-battle thing, and it was way, way more in depth than retarded kotor battles
I have a weird bug in Kotor 2
it's not gamebreaking but it's quite silly
ingame T3 is always neutral and I can see his bar set to neutral too
but whenever he levels up and I go to the level up screen his portrait is evil ass fuck
it's full dark red and black and there's dark fogs swirling around too
not even HK and Canderous is has an evil portrait as that.
both kotor games are better than TFA and whatever shit comic Marvel is producing for them these days.
Double-bladed sabers have higher base damage and will use 1.5 times your strength modifier when calculating final damage.
Double is best for str builds, dual is best for dex builds.
Black guy here
dark skinned version of default character if there's no lesbian romance option
