>itt: games that infuriate you but you can't stop playing and how you would fix them
Make archers bot only.
Firepots are AoE only. No ground DoT.
Remove 180 spin overheads.
>Make archers bot only
>Remove 180 spin overheads
So you have like what 5 hours played?
Archers are easymode to dodge since 90% of people playing them are shit and are easily one-shot
Not OP, but archers are most certainly overpowered. The primary mod used for competitive play nerfed them into the ground for a good reason. They're utterly braindead to use and they're incredibly effective if the player is at all competent.
>not exclusively playing on duel servers
>"I'm gonna swing muh zwei and get all da multi-kills huehhueheueheu"
>he can't handle doing an objective while also fighting others
Not the ones I've played on
Then again I haven't played in like 6 months or something
>make archers bot only
No. They're massively OP and unfun, but that's stupid.
>Firepots are AoE only. No ground DoT
Unless i'm misinterpreting this, that IS how they currently are. You get hit with it, you take damage, outside of being a retard and walking back into it.
>remove 180 spin overheads
Reverse overheads are shit, I agree, but you can't remove spinning. Mordhau is removing them with a pretty smart system however, so props to them. Reverses aren't some unblockable kill move, however. They just take a long time to get used to.
This guy gets it.
Also, pic related. I mainly play FFA, i'm an east coast player and I was one of the Slasher pre-alpha testers. Props to anyone who can guess who I am.
Shit, meant to say that >>323530957 gets the idea, not the guy saying archers aren't an issue. That guy's an idiot.
>That's literally describing every class in the game
Nope. Every other class can be countered. Whether you win or lose against an archer is entirely dependent on how retarded the archer is. It has nothing to do with your skill.
The detection IS off alot of the time. It's fucky.
Yeah, that's the main issue with archers. Whether or not you die to an archer has nothing to do with what you did. Sure, you can dodge and shit, but if you get hit, what could you have possibly done? It's all (influenced) luck, and considering that, they do FAR too much damage. No one wants to be hit across the map with maul damage.
There's 4 classes, same as in the alpha and beta. Also, "mechanics feel worse, everything just felt worse" is a great argument. Very concise and specific, and not at all generalizing without explaining anything.
The game is infinitely better in its current state than its early days.
>FFA mode comes up
>"oh no...not again"
>start fighting a knight
>good fight, lasting a bit
>cautiously look around, see knight do same
>we might get to finish this
>start fighting again
>after a parry I see the look of fear in his eyes
>"oh no, oh no please no"
Vangaurd rolls up and 1 hits both of us in 1 swing.
Every fucking time.
that image gets me every fucking time. noobs like this who don't understand the basic mechanics of the game are the cancer of Chivalry
The reason no one plays it is because of faggots who do 360 yolo spins with polearms and shit. It doesn't feel at all like fighting in a block - stab - dodge type of gameplay, it's just a clusterfuck of stupid mechanics abuse by autists who've played 900 hours.
The problem with this game is that every class have like 2-3 viable weapons of all the weapons they have. MAA? Better take norse or HW then
Knight? Better take SoW, messer or Daxe then
Vanguard? Better take claymore, zwei or brandi then
This is untrue. Almost every weapon in Chivalry is viable. Few are straight-up better in every way to their contemporaries.
You're an idiot who needs to get good. The game's upper level play looks weird, I get it, but it's also very deep with a high skill-ceiling. Saying it's shit because you don't wanna get into that is fucking retarded.
SoW is one of the few standouts, and even then it's not objectively better. Longsword is longer (duh) and the Messer has better drags + more damage. In duels, yeah, most knights who aren't afraid of feinting are gonna use a SoW, but in TO and shit? You'll see a wider variance.
Considering every month where it doesn't have a sale it loses about 10-20% of its players, chivalry is dying as is. It is objectively bad, and the shitty mechanics are a big part of why no one sticks around.
>you're an idiot who needs to git gud
Way to not read his post at all. He's saying combat looks and feels retarded because it does. Even if you are good at it it still looks retarded.
Chivalry has been around for 3 years and has almost ALWAYS had at LEAST between 1k and 2k players at any given time. It's not thriving certainly, but saying it's dying is untrue.
Point is, however, Bannerlord and Mordhau when?
Not that anon, but I feel like the core gameplay mechanics of block/strike/stab/overhead/feint/dodge are deep enough to carry the game and make it enjoyable by itself. Maybe I need to "git gud", but unlike Melee or something, I feel like the base game is good enough to be carried without advanced exploits, and would genuinely be a better game if it wasn't for all the stuff you see high tier players doing.
Nah, I feel you and I certainly don't like reverses either. However, basic dragging I think is a fundamental part of the game and shouldn't be taken out in any circumstance (not that it could without changing the actual gameplay).
Mordhau is going to be removing reverses, so there's that.
Stay mad scrub. Go play Mount and Blade if you want muh realism.
My biggest issue with Chivalry is the recovery time between blocking an enemy hit between classes. A Knight should be slow in it's speed and attack, but does heavy amounts of damage, but if a Man-At-Arms blocks a Knight's attack, Man-At-Arms should have enough time to hit the Knight, instead the Knight has enough time to block again.
Another one is there is no communication or team play at all, I've seen more teamwork in Battlefield games, and that's saying something.
>if a Man-At-Arms blocks a Knight's attack, Man-At-Arms should have enough time to hit the Knight
What do you think this is, parrying in Dark Souls? Blocking strikes is a fundamental part of the game and VERY easy to do. If you could just get free hits off of every parry, the game would be fucking retarded.
Our salvation is coming soon (hopefully) and then we can fight like real knights with honor in battle
For Honor looks like shit. MOBA Mount and Blade with lock-on combat? No thank you. 1vN situations will be next to impossible with the current system.
Then what's the point of Man-At-Arms? Man-At-Arms is supposed to be quick in everything, but light armor and damage, if a heavily armored Knight with a Warhammer can block every attack, then the Knight is unstoppable, therefore unbalanced.
No, just no. Reverses are shit, and this is coming from someone with 1460 hours in the game. Are they some unblockable end all exploit move? No, of course not. But the small amount of depth they add to the combat isn't worth how entirely fucking stupid they are and I definitely won't miss them when Mordhau releases.
What's the deal with knights swinging mauls and like, moving their whole upper body around in retarded ways so you can never hit them but they always hit you, no blocking just fucking spinning around, up and down and cleaving the shit out of me.
I've encountered like 3 people who do it and i can usually focus and 1v1 but it's really obnoxious, either its some retard with high sensitivity just rolling his mouse around while holding the attack button it seems like a hack.
Sensitivity plays no part in how fast you turn while swinging. There's a cap on how fast you can turn. What your opponent is doing is a mixture of dragging and reverses. Look it up.
To be fair the tutorial tips about dragging only showed up way later in the games lifetime.Tthe exploit was already in the game and removing it would probably cause a mighty uproar with people quitting chiv forever. I played for 1500 hours and the Chiv community is the most toxic ever filled with entitled babies.
That's because removing dragging would require you to completely overhaul the gameplay and make it where your swing only does damage for an VERY small amount of time or implement held blocks like in Mount and Blade.
Basically, without the freeform swings and dragging, it'd just be a shitty knockoff.
Certainly not, I'm not that guy you replied to before but I was just saying how dragging only showed up later in the tips as a guide to help new players as removing such an exploit so widely embraced by the veterans would cause most people to quit the game so they made they exploit into a feature.
It's quake 3 all over again.
HOW TO BE A GOOD ARCHER:
Are they spinning around and twisting like gumby on a bad day?
No - Shoot them in the head
Yes - Aim for their cock, it's too small to flail around
Did they get in melee?
No - Congrats
Yes - Spam left click while sprinting in a circle around them, preferably with a dagger or scimitar
