Comfy game, offers something different to the mostly static Pokemon catch 'em all gameplay.

The reason why Pokemon does way better than Yokai Watch is basically time of release. Pokemon were around first and have been ingrained in kids from the Gameboy and TV shows era who are now adults with income and familiarity towards Pokemon, these people know what to expect when they play a Pokemon game so they'll always sell and be a success. Yokai watch is just starting out in the west, where people have next to no clue on what it is other than "that other Pokemon clone", so adults who are getting a game for their kids for example, will simply choose what they've always been familiar with all their lives and what the kid is probably more familiar with as well. It doesn't help that Youkais are closely tied to Japanese mythos and culture, so people here won't know much about what they are other than "random made up creatures".

If you like the comfiness of this game, you might want to watch Natsume Yuujinchou

Depends on your preference I guess. If you want to play a comfy game with some challenges, go YW. If you want to play a game mostly for a challenge and some sick designs, go SMT. If you want to just smash, get smash.

I think SMT might be cheaper to pick up than the other two.

If everyone fucking waits, we won't get the next games. $40 is not a bad price for yo-kai watch. The game has tons of content.

You people are already saying this flopped when it was a sleeper hit in Japan as well. I've been seeing a LOT more kids into it nowadays and it's just going to get more popular when they go back to school. That's how word of mouth works.

The merch has been selling out in some places and the medals are selling a lot more than the expected. The anime's rating is going up each episode now that they are advertising it, doing marathons and are following a proper schedule.
