>There will never be a sequel or continuation
What happened to that dead sun game anyway, was Nosgoth any good?
My brother played it, said it was pretty
fun. Don't think I'll try it though.
To be honest, I'd love to see an another adventure game in Nosgoth but it should leave the Legacy of Kain alone. Defiance ended perfectly.
Something like Dead Sun would be cool but it shouldn't be a Legacy of Kain game. Maybe Legends of Nosgoth or something.
Nosgoth is crap and retcons established lore.
I think the Legacy of these games (pun intended) should be left alone.
Don't make a sequel, make a spiritual successor.
LoK Was a great series that ended with a cliffhanger, but still ended well. It went out on a high note. A sequel could just tarnish the franchise.
That's the point I'm trying to make, I don't think they should try to make another LoK or SR game. Defiance had a strong ending. I think trying to shoehorn in another plot on top in the form of a direct sequel will just fuck it all up.
Nosgoth has a massive history, a prequel would be fantastic. Have the setting during the Hylden and Ancient Vampire war for example.
Raziel's character arc is complete
I hate when fucking nostalgiafags keep begging for more of the same shit. It only ends up ruining characters that had perfectly good endings
People should know when enough is enough
This anon gets it. Bringing back Raziel would just cheapen his sacrifice. Raziel got his redemption and now that he cured Kain of Nepractor's madness Kain can now find his own.
>Defiance had a strong ending
true but the story is still open
>Nosgoth has a massive history, a prequel would be fantastic.
>playing as pre cast him in raziel and his brothers, kain being a dick
i want this so much
Yeah even if Kain is alive and can still run around and do shit, I think it'd be best just to leave him alone as well. He's become a true Balance Guardian now and actually feels hopeful for the future >>323436958 here. Let Defiance stand as the end of his legacy.
But if you want another game set in Nosgoth, let it be elsewhere with other characters.
It's not even that much of a cliffhanger, just that it had some unresolved conflicts with the Hyldan. Kain and all of Nosgoth are finally free of their chains in a fresh timeline that is no longer under the influence of Moebius and the EG, opening up the chance for redemption. Of course, it would've been cool if that Dark Prophecy game came out and finally provide total closure for the Legacy of Kain but I think the theme of the entire franchise has been addressed excellently with the end of Defiance.
>Not wanting a game where you play Kain, but he talks to Raziel in the sword all the time.
I would kill for that game m8
>kain wears the ring Vorador gave him in BO as an ear ring
The little things
Nice thread, literally just installed all of the games today (minus the very first one) after having them on Steam for months. I started them all up just to check they were running ok and judging by the intros and cutscenes I'm looking forward to playing through them, the writing seems great and the voice acting too.
>trying to insert souls shit into every franchise
Pure fucking cancer. What LoK should be about is exploration and puzzle solving with light combat. Souls is just slow as shit gameplay with no puzzle solving elements
>Souls is just slow as shit
that's why i said bloodborne, the gameplay is very fast and nothing like souls games
I know you don't own a ps4 buy watch some gameplay videos at least
Hey guys, I remember playing all the LoK games when I was a teen. I'm a bit confused about the chronology.
1. Blood Omen
2. Soul Reaver
3. Soul Reaver 2
??? Blood Omen 2
So when does BO2 take place? The Hylden are revealed in it, and they play a major part in Defiance, so I assume it's before Defiance, but Kain is young in it, so what the fuck happened there
>Tfw have only played Defiance for PS2 and tried playing Blood Omen on my PSP but ran into a constant bug where certain areas of the screen would be big black squares.
Eventually I'll get around to playing the whole series, wish I was able to enjoy it fully but I grew up and still am a poorfag. Posting this from a shitty ass metropcs smartphone.
The LoK series always felt a little like the Legend of Zelda series in terms of balancing exploration, puzzle solving, and combat.
That said, smooth and reactive combat like Bloodborne would be great, but it should not sacrifice exploration or puzzle solving.
BO2 takes place after BO1 chronologically. SR1 and SR2 are well after Kain takes over Nosgoth.
The Hylden being revealed in BO2 was needed to show that Raziel's refusal to die at the end of SR2 had unintended consequences.
>That said, smooth and reactive combat like Bloodborne would be great, but it should not sacrifice exploration or puzzle solving.
I never said anything about sacraficing exploration or puzzels. IF new game happens it will be probably very similar to arkham series combat wise.
You know the ending of SR2 where a paradox happens and Kain suddenly gets a migraine of new memories? BO2 is the memories that Kain gained. It's basically what happens post-BO in the new timeline that SR2's paradox caused.
>that meat tenderizing sound whenever you hit someone with it
> very similar to arkham series combat wise
Man, not sure if I like the sound of that. I did enjoy the Arkham series but I feel like every game uses the same combat system now. And out of all of the Sleeping Dogs was the best.
No BB is the same speed just with faster dodges. It's the same regurgitated garbage from keeps trying to shove down our throats almost every year instead of making something unique.
No LoK should never EVER play like a soulslike game and fuck you and people like you for wanting every game to play like them.
I would take the shitty DMC knock-off gameplay of defiance over this. Just fuck off
This. I love LoK but the ending was perfect. It is enough and it needs no remake nor sequels for either character even though you could say the finale was open... that was a good thing in this case, consider the genre and the world of Nosgoth and Kain himself, do people really want him to see his destiny fulfilled and Nosgoth safe and Kain making Raziel and his brethren proper pillar guardians instead of monsters? why?
I think hope is enough in this case. It´s Pyrrhic and is uncertain and that´s why it is memorable.
Besides Nosgoth was shit and Dead sun looked cancerous... there is no way that continuing would benefit the saga in any way.
Sure, seeing a bigger Nosgoth could be nice but it´s not worth it.
No you fuck off Soulz baby that DMC gameplay style was fucking Defiance and I am saying despite how fucking garbage it was I would take that any day over souls shit.
LoK should play like a LoZ title like it did with BO, SR and SR2
Have you played the game at all? You have two attack buttons,a telekinesis that works different for both characters, environmental kills, lock on, juggling, special attacks, air combos, air to ground and vice versa attacks, you have dodging and a special attack bar along with 4 different sword imbuements.
Defiance was like Devil May Cry lite and it worked.
>tfw bouncing an enemy off of you with TK to extend combos mid air and keep rapid slashing them
I only ever played Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver. Beat it on Dreamcast, the superior version.
Am I missing out on playing anything else? Was the sequel on PS2 any good? Should I play the original Legacy of Kain games?
This image is wrong, Pillars of Nosgoth was the development title for Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain, the PC version of the game still has files named Pillars of Nosgoth.
Shifter and Soul Reaver are the same game
PS1 Soulreaver is the same game as the PS2 Soulreaver the project simply moved over to the new platform
Chakan 2 became Blood Omen 2
calm your tits mr i hate souls games because they got popular am i cool yet guise nerd
new game will probably never be made and even if by some miracle they do make another one, it will copy anything that is popular and simple to pick up and play so shit like bamham or witcher
There's really not anything to tell.
The Hylden are free and get rekt by young Kain.
The Old God is buried for all eternity.
Original Kain died on the way to his original timeline.
>dumbed down combat
>forced combat encounters
>only allowed to leave area when everyone is dead
>railroaded as fuck, no exploration
so good gameplay
I remember that my brother and I thought it was the bee's knees at the time.
But now, something like Legend of Zelda would be more fitting. Something fast, smooth, but simple. Please no combos. And yes please lots of environmental hazards.
soul reaver had the best atmosphere and it's the main reason why i didn't like later games that much, to many cities and human enemies
I just don't understand what you're saying by goofy, DMC has a plot and stuff, it's just an action-driven game, the only character that's goofy is Dante.
I don't think that gameplay would suit LoK either, though.
>gif with no animation
Every single time.
Also these are great. Is there one for 200 confirmed kills marine pasta?
>That said, smooth and reactive combat like Bloodborne would be great,
Defiance ripped off DMC , bloodborne is a downgrade
Bloodborne and souls and all of that shit is garbage
What about smooth and reactive combat like Legend of Zelda? Or is Legend of Zelda a trigger for you too?
Nosgoth was mindless fun for a while, but it ended up being shit. Vampires have an insanely higher chance of winning due to all the ridiculous mechanics they have. The flying ones are even more annoying since they're silent in flight. The only remotely useful human is the one with the giant shield.
Masterpiece, will forever be remembered as one of the best story telling games ever made.
Mediocre, blatantly unfinished was rehashed into a LoK game from another game, story was basic and lackluster but not bad, had a decent amount of exploration. gained enough popularity to get a sequel.
Horrible game, shit story, linear gameplay, even more unfinished than the first game.
>Blood Omen 2
Another rehashed game, contrived plot barely fits into any of the other games plot, complete mess of a game both story and mechanically.
Desperate attempt to fix loose ends and plot holes, fails horribly. abysmal game was the final nail in the coffin that killed the series.
Well, there's a reason why you switch sides at the half. Besides, I find that after the first one or two engagements, the momentum switches to the humans when they figure out what they're dealing with.
Tip that fedora any harder and the Earth might tilt out of orbit.
Before Dead Sun, there was Dark Prophecy. They had even started working on it immediately after Defiance before the whole project was shut down.
Pics under the article and pic related.
There was going to be Malek's Bastion, the Dark Eden (Kain was most likely supposed to travel back in time to help his young self), a Hylden fortress and a Sarafan building with repurposed Ancient Vampires' motifs and statues.
They did say last year that the franchise had a 50/50 chance of coming back during this generation so maybe they are thinking on going this route.
While it would be nice to go back to Nosgoth i still think this is not actually a good idea.
Some things are better left alone... specially at a point where they are still not ruined.
