Is there a simple guide to hacking the New3DS yet?
A lot of the guides involve referencing other guides that can get complicated. At this point I'll just wait for an easy video tutorial.
I never understand this, why do people like OP keep acting like google doesn't exist???
>Is there a simple guide to hacking the New3DS yet?
This one is the one I used:
And now I have pic related.
Be warned though, Installing .cia is SLOW AS FUCK. It took me over 6 hours to install all that.
I've been on cfw for a while (rxtools 2.6) - has there been anything new worth looking into with this big breakthrough or is there no reason to fuck with anything if I'm good with this setup?
Which ones. I might have them and I can upload them 4U.
pic related are the ones I have
I have a question about the old eshop in homebrew menu.
Homebrew menu autoboots thanks to menuhax, but the question I have is, when it autoboots, does it switch to emunand or is it still in sysnand?
I want to get ironfall off of old eshop for ironhax but want it in my emunand.
Or am I stupid and already having menuhax keeps me safe from Nintendo messing around with browserhax? because I dont have Cubic Ninja or OoT
Yes, and I've downloaded a few that ended up being .3ds, which is why i was originally looking for a way to just convert. If you know of a thread with them on 3dsiso can you toss me a name so i can search it?
Because its a pain in the ass to get access to the eshop on New 3DS.
Its easier to just dowload the 20/100mb update in .cia format and just install the .cia
Not to mention is faster too since nintendo servers are shit.
Also, you dont have to buy DLC in .cia format. I installed all the DLC for Mario Golf without a problem.
Currently uploading Tales since all the links I know are dead, It will take around 1 hour.
1313 - Persona Q - Shadow of the Labyrinth (U)(VENOM).cia
I have 2RB in my computer but I want to play though OC again since I only got Yuzu ending in the DS.
Yes, buts its on the early stages.
Only items and a few other things are translated.
I'm not doing this simply for the fact that when I did it with my regular DS back when I stopped playing it altogether because of all the games I could have instantly for it. I need something like a buying limit so I have time I play shit.
Update to 9.5 if you are on 9.2 using this guide:
Then regain access to Nintendo Network using this guide:
Then update your game.
Alternatively you can look for the .cia of the update and install it that way or you can just play the game without updating.
>still no success with coldbooting
I swear this is going to be another keep trying till it works thing for me.
This is just like PSP with a Slim again
I was following this guide and everything went smoothly: http://pastebin.com/ndvW5Aji
At line 99 it says
>You may also want to update your emuNAND to be newer than your sysNAND
>If you're on an O3DS, you can just go to System Settings and update (MAKE SURE YOU'RE STILL ON YOUR EMUNAND OR YOU'LL LOSE ALL YOUR HARD WORK)
I'm on o3DS, so I did a system update. It gave me an error, so I figured I wouldn't worry about it right now. I went ahead and set up ctrbootmanager to work with Cakes. I did that, it boots up Cakes fine, but now when I try to launch the CFW, it just seems to freeze on me. Any ideas? Or a way to backtrack and reconfigure Cakes?
Then you wont be able to play it.
Use DataFiler to get your save and install a firmwarespoofed .cia version on your 3DS
Then use DataFiler to load your save,
the /vg/ thread has all the links you need, post in the /vg/ thread if you have any problems, but honestly this shit is so annoying right now, its just copying files a lot. it took me 3 days to crack mine and get free games.
good luck faggot, shits really hard right now and since its new there isn't much content.
Sorry for being a retard, but what do I do after downgrading?
My 3DS is on 9.2 now, but I dont understand all of this CIA and FBI stuff, the only CIA that I have seen its when I downgraded.
This video has a package in the description with everything you need assuming you already have menuhax to easily go to homebrew menu
im finally on 9.2. im trying to get emunand up but i cant access the homebrew anymore. holding L on startup doesnt change anything. any other way to access homebrew channel?
I will only link Zero Escape since its the only one that gave me trouble to get
The rest of them can be easily found in the CIA section of 3DSISO. Look harder.
load them on emunand partion like on PC? Just make a folder in your SD card root, name it cia or games or whatever to put your cias in. Rather than booting into emunand, I boot into homebrew using menuhax(That way It'll be a reminder to start rxtool to go into emunand). It may take longer but I dont mind.
Yeah, I set up ctrbootmanager to boot into Cakes.
So I turn on the 3DS, the booter comes up, then tries to launch Cakes. Goes to static-y screen for a minute, then flashes a debug screen up top, the booter relaunches and prepares to launch Cakes again, and then when it does the top screen is black and bottom screen is red. And it stays like that until I turn off the 3DS.
This is the best guide out there for SaveDataFiler:
Its in spanish so use Google translate if you cant read spanish.
Alright, here's what happened more than likely. You had menuhax enabled when you duped your sysnand. So it's basically going Sysnand>menuhax>ctr>cakes>emunand>menuhax>ctr>crash. When it boots from the emunand hold whichever key you bound, mine was L. Then when you're on emunand, change the theme so you never have to deal with menuhax again.
I used this tool to pack all my themes into one .cia and then installed the .cia using FBI.
No, they are easy to find in 3DSISO.
menuhax doesnt require internet connection
Kingdom Hearts is easy to find
I have already linked Zero Escape in this thread, look for it.
If menuhax will be safe from nintendo, why do some tutorials still recommend getting ironhax?
I'm happy enough with menuhax launching homebrew automatically on boot. It reminds me to switch to emunand with rxtools
That worked. Thanks!
Few other questions, if anyone can answer them:
I know that my downloaded games from the eShop and their save files are gone. Are they gone for good? I'm not really bothered since it was just Smash, Ambassador games, and a few things I don't care too much about. What I am more concerned about is getting my PokeBank back and running since all of my mans are dumped there. What are my options to get that back?
I have a 16 GB SD card, which I know isn't quite ideal, but can anyone tell me about how much space should be taken up on it once all is said and done with updating? Or, can anyone tell me what files I need to keep on it? I think when I was backing up/restoring I might have unnecessarily double transferred some files to different folders because I wasn't paying attention like I should have, but I don't want to start messing around with deleting things unless I know they can be deleted.
Should I use emuNAND for everything now? Is there any reason to use sysNAND?
I just looked into my mega cloud and already had Kindom Hearts uploaded so you get a pass
In case you fuck up your menuhax
If you by some mistake enter the themes app in your sysnand and nintendo already patched browserhax then you are out of the loop.
So getting a stable entrypoint like OoThax or Ironhax is reccomended.
I have set up OoThax in my OoT cart just in case I fuck up menuhax.
A 16gb card should have 14gb available after formatting.
13GB available after the emuNAND partition
12GB avaiable after taking into account all the CFW files and shit
I heard you needed "a brain" to do all this stuff, or at least having "a brain" was on of the requirements if you want to do this stuff. If some people are too technology illiterate or stupid to figure this out, then they might not have "a brain" for these kinds of things.
>A 16gb card should have 14gb available after formatting.
>13GB available after the emuNAND partition
>12GB avaiable after taking into account all the CFW files and shit
Is there a simple list of what files are necessary on my SD card to have everything running properly? The bulk of what's taking up space right now is the "Nintendo 3DS" folder on the SD card.
The EmuNAND.bin backup I created with EmuNAND can be removed as long as I've safely backed up the file to my PC, right?
Should I buy a 2ds or a 3dsxl for this? I can't decide which.
Im trying to downgrade to 9.2 on a O3ds, but cant find the update file anywhere. Im told its on that 3ds site but it wont let me register to view the topic with the files.
Can someone point me to where else I can find it or upload them if they have them.
The NAND backup can be deleted from your SD if you have it backed up safely in your PC.
The Nintendo 3DS folder holds the profiles for your sysNAND and emuNAND.
The profiles are where your system settings, installed software and save backups are stored.
So no, you cant delete them.
The 3DS comes with a built in 2GB memory slot that holds the OS of the handheld called NAND.
The NAND in your built in memory is referred as sysNAND.
Your emuNAND is a copy of that built in memory inside your SD card.
When you launch your CFW you basically load the OS in your SD card and stop using the OS of your built in flash.
this is your reminder to hurry the fuck up if you want to use homebrew/pirate on your 3DS and havent downgraded yet
>10.4 comes out this coming week
>9.9+ blocks browsers that aren't updated
>nobody knows when the next exploit will come after 10.4 is launched, if any
get to work anons
Ah, alright thanks anon! Where should I open up old eshop from so I can get ironfall? If I open it from homebrew before using rxtools to switch to emunand, will it be okay?
Or does old eshop automatically go into emunand
I mean, I dont really care for themes so I think I wont be dumb to fuck up menuhax
You can get anything that isnt N3Ds with the latest firmware and be able to downgrade it easily
The O3DSXL I bought yesterday was the latest firmware but I downgraded it back to 9.2
so im still at version 7.1.0
should i just update normaly and then downgrade or is there an easier way to steal games on my 3ds?
SMT DS2 Record Breaker:
If your firmware is below 9.9 then you are fine. Nintendo cannot block browser exploits that way. If your firmware is on or above 9.9 then browser exploits can be blocked whenever Nintendo feels like it (which all signs are pointing to being on Monday)
AM I STILL ON TIME OR HAVE I WAITED TOO LONG?
Theres another thread saying you cant go into eshop as an update is required is that true?
Can I downgrade straight from 9.5 if already have homebrew launcher through browserhax?
1: when restoring my backup to my SD card, do I want to keep those few existing files on the SD that emuNAND created? or overwrite them with the backups files of the same name?
2: step 16 isn't very clear. rename the existing boot to brew, THEN place the boot from the mega file (emunand+rxtools) into the root of the SD? is that correct?
Did you have menuhax installed and set to autoboot? If yes, then it's probably trying to load after emunand loads, making your o3ds hang. You need to bypass the load by holding L (by default) and turn menuhax off.
I tried this and now when I open Story of Seasons I get "An error has occurred" and have to restart my 3DS. What did I do wrong? It was working fine before I imported the physical games save into it
How is the success rate of hacking an O3DS?
Just turned mine on and I'm on 9.4.0, does this increase my odds?
I'm a little nervous because I ordered a new 3DS game and it's coming in the mail on Monday.
So I got my old 3DS downgraded to 9.2 and everything and have HBC installed, but since I only have a 4gb SD card I'm not really looking to install any games at the moment.
What do I need to do to get DLC for free?
I did the NTR shit for the FE14 DLC, is some of it supposed to be broken? some of the maps are titled E000 and other ones have the same japanese word. when I try to load them it says "failed to load data" and kicks me back to the main menu
10.4 comes out on monday. Any firmware above 9.9 requires the update check to use the browser. Once 10.4 is released browserhax will essentially be patched for everyone above 9.9
I'm gonna sit on it until Monday and then see about buying a 2DS bundle. So far I haven't read about anybody buying a 2ds bundle that isn't the yokai watch one and getting above 9.9.
I say do it as soon as possible. This is pretty time consuming and if you fuck up you have to start over.
took me about 6 hours to get done with little trouble, but some people say it took them days
I say install menuhax just to be safe, then you can autoboot into the homebrew menu without haveing to use browserhax
When you set up emunand they appear as icons as if you downloaded them from eshop. giftwrapped and all
Yes, but install menuhax through browser had just to be safe. That way you don't have to use the internet every time you want to enter the homebrew channel. Also look up ctrbootmanager to install on your 3DS as well, it's menu thing that gives you the option of booting into rxTools or the homebrew channel.
dont use build 12-05 use build 10-2 more stable
then you need to make a folder called data get the firmware from ReiNAND CFW and rename it to 0004013820000002orig.bin put it the data folder move the data folder to rxtools then make a firmware from cdn_firm and put that firmware in sys now you should be able to update and not get a black screen at all
What if I have a N3DS XL?
Right now I still can't downgrade successfully. I end up having a soft brick and being forced to go into recovery mode and reinstall 10.3
When 10.4 is out what then? I can't afford to update from recovery if it updates me to 10.4
Having gotten CFW and losing my downloaded Smash in the process, I was wondering if there was a place that might have 3DS saves uploaded so I could download a completed save? Not that I'm sure I'll ever need to play Smash 3DS again, but I don't want to go through the hassle of unlocking it all and filling the achievement board again.
What advantages? I've downgraded 2 N3DS without too much hassle. One of them I installed CFW on but it took like half the day until I found a reliable tutorial. Is it easier to set up CFW on O3DS?
I got Menu + Homebrew setup, so I am safe.
Was going to use ctrbootmanager but found out I need to use RxTool 3.0 (I have 2.6). Just don't feel like going through the trouble of fixing it, but in a position where I can if I need to. Thanks.
Big Blue Menu, its a more user friendly cia installer than FBI, some say its faster but I donno.
Can someone explain what's supposed to happen when I click on sys updater in homebrew?
I keep getting a blank screen and I've waited and waited and nothing happens. When I turn it off and go back it tells me an "error has occurred" but I haven't been bricked because I can still plays my games and go back.
I'm trying to format emunand. I followed the flowchart and put the launcher.dat on my SD card, went to the browser and go.gateway-3ds.com, and it just says "GATEWAY 3DS LOADING..." and nothing's happening. I'm on Old 3DS, updated to 10.3. All I've done so far is get homebrew launcher (holding L on startup) and play SNES games.
Everything is unstable. You can try but even if you know what you're doing it can fail for no reason.
I can't believe people have been having trouble with downgrading/emuNAND on the old 3DS, it took me maybe an hour and a half.
you probably got a wrong version of the gateway launcher. I downloaded a gateway launcher and it said the same thing and I literally waited 20 minutes for nothing, then saw this video and got the starter kit and when I went back to gateway it loaded up right away
So I'm getting this in my emuNAND trying to boot monster hunter 4 installed CIA and SMASH installed cia. What's going wrong here?
Please. I'm dying of sleep deprivation here.
I just want an icon to appear.
The O3DS resets on itself with limited access to services like miiverse and stuff because MH4U and SSB4 are big games
Someone that the reason it doesnt work is that when the 3DS resets, it goes back to sysnand
You have to put an FBI folder that has FBI.3dx and FBI.smdh into your 3ds folder. that's where homebrew apps go
IIRC these titles would work fine in N3DS but on O3DS they have to reboot in a special mode that opens more resources for the games.
Since you're on an O3DS it tries to reboot into that special mode and ends up loading sysnand, which won't run your CIA
I've been trying to install the FBI.cia to sysNand. I was told to run PastaCFW but I still don't see anything. The icon just shows up for a split second and disappears. Even on PastaCFW.
I really need help
I got my 3DS used so it had an NNID already on it, I decide to do the emunand, and everything is done, got sysnand and emunand unlinked but now...
I don't know if I'm stuck with the previous owner's NNID on emunand. I cant access NNID setting cause I get an error. I can't download things from the eshop either. Can someone help?
I downloaded some (official) themes to install, but BigBlue keeps telling me the cia files are invalid. The downloads are for US 3DS, and I'm on 3DS. Any idea? Would it be any different if I tried FBI manager?
>fuck up at ctrbootloader
>fuck up at ctrbootloader
Can I just, not use ctrbootloader? I'm obviously too retarded to use it.
C'mon nigga, step it up! This shit is easy as fuck, everyone can do it, and that includes you.
2) delete any old hax payloads on SD card from when you were on 9.3+(if they're are .bin files on the root of you SD card delete them basically)
Does that mean delete everything on my root that's a .bin file?
It didn't work for me either because every time I tried to change which key to press to open the homebrew launcher, I couldn't launch emunand. If I leave it on default, which is "holding L", I can launch it just fine.
If you already have a NNID, to access the eShop, you have to back up your emuNAND, format the emuNAND, setup you NNID, then inject the emuNAND
Tedious, but I was able to get to the eShop
I have a 4GB SD card.
I want to play Persona Q, which is 1.9GB.
Will it use the cia, and the install it n the Sd ?
So I can't play games that weight more than 1.9-1.9 on a 4GB ?
does it work even when I already unlinked the sys and emunands?
I think I should've done all this first because when I set up the emunand and everything, there was already someone else's NNID on the system so I dont know if I'm fucked and the emunand has the person's NNID on it
Not enough. Al the files added up are around a GB or so, then added 1.9 to make it 2.9, then you have to install the cia making it 4.8 (The CIA doesnt go away when you install it so the 1.9 from the uninstalled game is still there)
I don't have a NNID, since in an earlier attemp some old guide made me format the system memory from the system settings. unless I can reuse that old account (I don't know), I want to know if i should keep going or go all way back to 10.3 just to make an account.
For future reference, there's a lil program called SocketPunch, it lets you install a cia over a wireless connection from your computer, it prevents needing at least twice the amount of space on your sd.
If you have RX-E or RX3D 10.3 on emuNAND, you have CFW and just set NNID up in emuNAND
I believe you want to keep sysNAND on 9.0 or 9.2, you'd have to update to the 10.3 to setup up NNID on sysNAND
I'm hunting for this game:
No official english name yet, but Protect me Knight 2 probably, anyone knows a japanese site where there might be a chance of finding it?
I do have the latest RX firmware though and I still get the error message when trying to access the NNID settings in settings menu
Let me try a few more times and I'll let you know
yeah i'm following this guide http://pastebin.com/ndvW5Aji
so that means, since i'm on a o3ds, after setting up cakes, boot the emunand and update to 10.3, i can set an fresh account?
Nah, just did a update check on my N3DSXL and it says 10.3 is up to date
Installed some .cia themes using FBI but I don't see them in the theme menu
How can I get my squid waifu to show on my home screen
Alright, opening my fresh New3DS, gonna try to do this, wish me luck.
I remember reading up about there being a way to automatically boot into emunand when turning on the 3DS. I managed to set up the emunand on my n3ds after downgrading. Going to install r tools after.
>All those undubs
Aw yuss, that's what I was waiting for, I'm going full weeb on this shit. Godamnit, playing undubs is like weed, everyone talk shit about you for doing it, but it's too good to stop.
Great, now I have to fight the urge to try that every time.
Is there anything I can do without having to kill menuhax using CHMM2?
Hey it's one of the anons from before, how exactly do I format the nand again? Do I just go and format the system in setting while on emunand?
I remember formatting it once I think in the browser, but forgot what website I used, I thought it'd be gateway but it leads me to the injector for fbi in Health and safety and stuff
Sorry for the late answer.
If you downloaded the rxTools files to your SD card , then skip this step for now.
In sysNAND, boot up homebrew launcher, install menuhax and set it to autoboot like the pastebin says. After that keep following the steps. And the last step is that when let your console autoboot to rxTools, it will probably send you to the menu of rxTools. You need to go into Setting, and check quickboot(you just need to press right once) and then boot up emuNAND.
A little help, please.
>Dumped the NAND
>Copied to my PC
>Fomated the SD with emuNAND setup
>Copied the backup again to the SD
>Changed the boot.3dsx to brew.3dsx
>Copied the boot3dsx from the download to SD
But now when I try to access the HL to continue, it doesn't load. Tried the browserhex and its no good too. Someone, please?
>tfw DeSu Overclocked undubbed
It's finally time to play this game!
Help, following this guy's tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xxP2kIt68OQ .
no clue how to get into browserhax to go to menuhax. Whenever I go through this url http://yls8.mtheall.com/3dsbrowserhax_auto.php I get an error. On 9.2
Dead serious. Took me half an hour. I know it sounds like I'm shitting you, but I'm not. Don't forget to visit the theme menu and turn the theme off if you haven't done so after downgrading. Menuhax doesn't work if you haven't.
I have everything set up (installing Fire Emblem IF with the shitty fan translation) but I've always wondered: When I boot menuhax, is the top screen supposed to be a garbled mess? Just out of curiosity.
That's 3.0 that's included (I followed the guide myself).
Seconding for Xenoblade.
If Tales finishes getting uploaded, perhaps try that. For SRPG, I'd recommend Stella Glow.
You can't do this from 10.2 unless you have something beside the browser to get you into HBC. Downgrading requires HBC access, and browsers from like 9.5 onwards can't be used if you're not updated to the latest firmware version (i.e. 10.3).
Haven't heard of it. Just google 'latest 3ds firmware' or something to see if there's anything new.
The firmware injection procedure is the same if the 3DS' firmware is below 9.2, right? Or do I have to update it first and then downgrade?
Anyone find any hidden gems yet?
Looking forward to the two 3DS exclusive Regular Show and Adventure Time games
Same with Art of Balance Touch and Doctor Lautrec, which is a knock off of Layton
Okay guys, someone please gimme a rundown on this:
-n3ds, rxtols installed, cooldbooting, FBI, pasta, you name it.
-want to install cia, gives INCORRECT_SIGNATURE
-I have already tried to inject, it doesn't works; downloaded other cias to try, same problem; did a format and recopied from a backup, and tried to install big blue box (without gateway)
Wut do? I'm at the verge of madness.
>theme has been on do not select one since downgrade
change it, and then change it back.
Literally worked for me. Was the last thing I tried after 25 minutes of messing with the slider, worked first time after that.
I'm installing more games than actually playing them
Aaah, well THERE'S your problem (which I recognize because I had the exact same one).
You need FBI on your home menu for it to be able to read the signatures from the store (it's obviously far more complicated than that, but that's as far as I understand why it happens).
Did you forget to restore your backup, accidentally installed it to destination NAND and not SD or similar?
What guide are we following?
This one. Followed it from the beginning till the end. I'm pretty sure that I installed FBI on my SD tho. Still, after rxtools wasn't working for a while, I tried to work with cake, didn't work and returned to rxtools with a backup; maybe some installing process went wrong.
A little warning from a long-time 9.2 user to all you new pirates among us:
>Delete all your connections from your sysNAND. Nintendo has tried to pull a fast one on us by updating our sysNAND while we where off having fun in emuNAND before.
I'm going to try this on a 2DS,
does it matter if the fw version looks kinda low?
Please, I need help. Someone who followed this pasta, please, can guide me how undo some shit?
Finally after hours of work. Definitely worth the effort.
So I did that and put back my emunand folder into the SD card cause only the sysnand showed up, everything is like it was before, but my games dont show up and FBI isnt installed on home screen :/
So, everythin was fine, until the step 16.
When I try to power on holding L, nothing happens.
Then I tried to enter in HL via browserhex, and suceded. A screen with RXTools came up, installed some things and send me back to initial 3DS screen. The firmware shows RX something, but none os my games apear and I cant proced with the following steps, because I cant access the RXTools menu.
guys i have a 2ds 6.0.0e, i created a emunand With gateway software, then i booted rxtools, installed it over health app, and thanks to FBI i can now install CIA files in emunand. but when i turn completely off the console and i reboot the hack disappear and i need to use a again the browser to access rxtools. now ive found a way to access rxtools without internet (3ds x-loader). it's nice, but there is some way to have persistent rxtools on my 2ds instead of always load it from that app or a browser link?
OMG, I just did the stupidest shit that i readed on another anon. Ran Pasta and then ran FBI; and it FUCKING WORKED
Installing games now, but once they are installed I can't seem to find them in my home menu, nor emuNAND nor sysNAND. How do I do to find them?
Yeah it's that thread I got it from there and put it on the card
Still not loading but I assume sysupdater takes a while to get going
I think he's just Asian with a thick accent watching it too
now i'm having a problem with CakesFW, after making it boot automatically.
the first time, it went to a black screen, for the second time the touch screen turned yellow, and from the third time onwards it went again through ctrbootmanager and froze. what may I have done wrong? earlier I managed to boot into emuNAND, so I know it was installed correctly. I hope its nothing too serious.
People are saying Nintendo will fix the exploit in two days and act like you wont be able to abuse it anymore from then on.
Wont it only apply to most current firmware users?
All the systems in stores should still be exploitabel, right?
I'm using this guide http://pastebin.com/ndvW5Aji
And I am at the part where I am supposed to use Pastacfw and it crashes when I try to use it. When I use minipasta and then try to install fbi it doesn't work. Any suggestions?
Believe me, you won't brick it. You have a much higher chance of getting frustrated at how long this can potentially take and throwing your 3ds across the room than you have of actually bricking the system.
Really? Im on O3DS and it just wont start for me, it only did it once and it said failed to load cia files despite having the folder on the root.
I tried it about 10 times now in total about four after that post
I tried for 6 hours yesterday, and it turns out the sysupdater I had didn't work, so I got the other one and it worked first try.
you can try the one off github I guess but that's the one that failed to work for me
AW SHIT SON I GOT MY EMUNAND WORKING AT RX-E 9.2
What do I do now, the guide I'm following doesn't go any further
then why the guide says to turn menuhax on if then it needs to be disabled?
it ALMOST makes me want to write a definitive guide
it's literally impossible to brick at that point, since your sysNAND will still work
hacking the 3ds makes softmodding an OGXbox look like a walk in the park.
I think i'll just wait until there's a more streamlined method.
Ok thanks. I can search for what those are later as you probably can't post em here.
I heard you also need sometihng else for homebrew in order to play those games. something called themehax or something right?
It's fucking anarachy. I spent 9 hours in RNG hell (yes it's literally RNG) and I'm still not even half way there.
There are so many tiny things that can go wrong and require their own workarounds and tools and dead links and ugh... it's a nightmare.
>then why the guide says to turn menuhax on if then it needs to be disabled?
I don't know. There were a few spots in the guide where things were a little vague, unfortunately. Hope that got it working for you though.
>I just bought 5 O3DSXLs for like $60-70 each and am doing this to all of them and then selling them for $190 each.
So I installed some cias but the present boxes don't show up. How I do? I don't have FBI in my home screen, I need to access it through homebrewmenu.
Do I need to do the inject H&S thing for it to work?
yeah, it seems that I have to put back the original boot.3dsx, disable menuhax, and then put the modified boot for cfwbootmanager.
I just hope someone is taking notes to write a better guide
I can try to help. Just did this today in about 3 or 4 hours, most of which was waiting, on an old 3DS.
You need a decent sized SD card and an SDHD card reader on an available PC.
I followed http://pastebin.com/ZfA8wtA2 to downgrade and then
http://i.imgur.com/tH9FMpc.png to install an emunand (emulated system) and inject a game installer (FBI) into the emunand.
After that you just put the CIA (game file) onto your SD card on your PC, open the installer (it's the health and safety warnings), and press A when you've navigated to the CIA
I softmodded a bunch of 360's and that was a huge pain because of the chipset required to interface with the disc drive. Getting your hands on an SD reader is far simpler. I happened to have a laptop lying around that has a multi-SD reader.
If you're on OG 3DS
scroll down to "Launching rxTools at Boot - Menuhax!" and follow the instructions
I'm following the guide for retards. Trying tounlink the nands
When I try to boot rxTools, it says that it failed to load NATIVE_firm: 4
I've tried rebooting rxTools few times like it says but nothing works
Just out of curiosity, but what does unlinking NANDs do to screw with DSiware and GBA VC ?
Is it just that you can't boot it from EmuNAND because you're running from SD card instead of actual hardware? Or does it also do something to keep it from working in SysNAND?
sorry if this sounds stupid, but in that Mega link with all the firmware link, which do i download? i'm on 9.5.0 22U, and so that isn't on there. Should I just download 9.2.0-20U since I'm on O3DS XL?
I don't know how fast they can patch exploits, seems like the news of maintenance came out just a few days after the exploit
Updates seem like every month or every 2-3 months
Any reasons why I get Failed to get CIA file in sysupdater when I have them in sd card?
I did EVERYTHING right so far from the guide up until this point....WHY
Its bad enough sysupdater is a shot in the dark to load as it is
Browser hax still works up to the latest firmware. So only people above 9.9 will be in trouble if 10.4 specifically fixes the current working exploit. And even then, it is possible to block the server that checks to update when starting the browser on 9.9 and up. https://gbatemp.net/threads/blocking-browserhax-update-message.401280/
Also I'm not 100% sure, but I think the tubehax dns also blocks the browser forced update check along with the typical update servers.
And just being honest, even if the 10.4 browser does patch the current 10.3 exploits for o3ds and n3ds, it probably won't take long to adapt another working entry point. Nintendo's only real way to stop browser entry points would be to do away with the browser all together and not let people have one at all.
Ah well fuck, all I really wanted was uncensored Fire Emblem anyway.
Holy fuck, sorry for not answering man, but I was hiting my head in the wall.
But finally, after dozens of tries and retcons, I think I did it.
Turning on holding L takes me to a purple screen, which I think its the rxTools menu. From there I can access the HL or the CFW itself, since it shows RX-E 9.2.
I'am good, rigth? Now I can continue to Unlink NAND and stuff? Also, thanks man, really, and sorry again, I was a bit nervous.
Oops! I dropped my recommendations chart!
Have fun boys ;)
Anyone know where installed cia files are on the SD card? I formatted my emunand and the games I installed dont sow up as icons anymore and they arent in the programs section of bigbluemenue
I'm talking about the already installed games, not the .cia files. I keep them in a folder named cia
I hope I am I even followed the RETARD guide and did everything on there
Downloaded sysupdater which I put inside the 3ds folder in the sd card
Download 9.2 Full and created an updates folder on the root of the sd card, and put all of the CIA files in it
I go into homebrew launcher holding the L button and go to sysupdater all the way down and ALWAYS get the fucking red flash followed by a black screen
disabling menuhax also shouldn't disable ctrbootmanager? but yeah, I pressed the bypass button and booted into emunand, so thanks anon.
now, all CIAs should be installed in SD to make them appear in emunand, right?
try a different version of sysupdater
the one I used had a filesize that started with 233 the one that didn't work for me had a filesize that started with 215 try both see what works
